There’s a lot happening this week, with season 6 on the way and the Game of Thrones DVD/Blu-ray coming out tomorrow.

HBO has just released two clips from the DVD/Blu-ray special features, one explaining the historical inspirations for the Red Wedding and the other other about the construction of the Hardhome set in Northern Ireland.

We have new interviews with Alfie Allen discussing Theon Greyjoy and fan interactions, and Game of Thrones cast members sharing how they’d spend their wealth if they were paid for every Jon Snow question they get.

We also received an update today from HBO providing more details about the event in New York City planned for tomorrow.

Game of Thrones launches campaign with the International Rescue Committee and offers fans the chance to attend the season 6 premiere

Game of Thrones and the International Rescue Committee have teamed up to launch the Rescue Has No Boundaries campaign to raise awareness and bring aid to the millions of refugees and displaced people around the world.

Lena Headey, DeObia Oparei, Liam Cunningham, Maisie Williams, Tom Wlaschiha, Sophie Turner, John Bradley, Oona Chaplin, Eugene Simon, Iwan Rheon, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Hannah Murray and Michiel Huisman appeared in an IRC video calling viewers to donate their time and resources to help the estimated 60 million people worldwide who have fled their homes to escape violence.

Welcome once more to the road show that ain’t stopping ’til the wheels fall off at the season 6 premiere, aka our little tour through Memory Lane. And also welcome to season one’s mindblowing finale. This one was a doozy.

Written by David Benioff and Dan Weiss, and directed by Alan Taylor (with more than a little help from Alik Sakharov’s cinematography), this proved the pitch-perfect capstone to a revelatory season of groundbreaking fantasy television.

The actor, who is returning to British TV with Doctor Thorne, discusses his wild younger years and ill-fated romances, and looks back on his work with shows such as Deadwood and Lovejoy.

Game of Thrones Memory Lane 108: The Pointy End

Today’s trip down memory lane features the first episode penned by A Song of Ice and Fire author George R.R. Martin: “The Pointy End,” directed by Daniel Minahan. The episode features the iconic last scene with Syrio Forel, the Lannisters’ capture of Sansa and Jon facing off with a strange new enemy. With Martin writing the episode, characters are bound to be pulled in all sorts of directions so as the audience, we sat back and enjoyed the chaos.

Game of Thrones hits SXSW with the Hall of Faces and a season 6 clip

The Game of Thrones exhibit at SXSW opened today, with a focus on the Hall of Faces we’ve seen so much these last couple months as we prepare for season 6. The exhibit will remain open until Monday, providing fans who will be in the Austin, Texas area with an opportunity to check out the Iron Throne, join the Hall themselves, view show costumes and new artwork, and pose with Needle.

Oh and they’ll be checking out an exclusive clip from Game of Thrones season 6 as well. Since the new footage is being shown only there in Austin, we’re not able to see it of course. But one fan has posted about it on Reddit.
