New images of Game of Thrones filming in Northern Ireland, plus huge spoilers for season 6!

This week, Game of Thrones has taken over the scenic waterfront in Ballintoy, Northern Ireland. Ironmen have been spotted in between takes as the show filmed near the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge and in Larrybane Park, and Pilou Asbæk has been officially confirmed as Euron Greyjoy, Theon’s uncle and a dangerous pirate.

We’ve now learned that yesterday, GoT shot more scenes around the harbor and the caves, as well as a scene on the famous rope bridge. We have photos, a video and new details of filming courtesy of friends of Watchers On The Wall.

[Update!] CONFIRMED: Euron cast, major scene filmed today in Ballintoy Harbour

Today was a huge day for Game of Thrones filming, according to our sources. Portions of a major scene were filmed in Ballintoy, Northern Ireland, and reports say that one of the sixth season’s new stars was front and center.

Sources report that Danish actor Pilou Asbæk will be playing the role of Euron Greyjoy. The actor was spotted shooting today with the cast around Ballintoy Harbour, in a scene that involved a crowd cheering for Euron.

Asbæk starred in the successful Danish series Borgen as Kasper Juul, along with GoT guest star Birgitte Hjort Sørensen. He appeared as Paolo Orsini on The Borgias,  and is playing Pontius Pilate in the newest version of Ben-Hur.

UPDATE: It’s official! HBO has confirmed that Pilou Asbæk has been cast in season 6 of Game of Thrones as Euron Greyjoy.

Maisie Williams arriving in Girona today; plus, new photos of sets and Ballintoy rumors!

El Punt Avui reports that Maisie Williams will be arriving in Girona today. The newspaper’s sources have confirmed to them that actress is expected at a certain hotel, with a room registered to her already.

Though reputable sources have stated that Girona is partly Braavos for some time now, the impending arrival of the star confirms this. Filming is expected to begin in a couple days.

Game of Thrones enters the book of Guinness World Records 2016

Entertainment Weekly revealed today that Game of Thrones has entered the Guinness Book of World Records 2016.  The honor was presented to the show and accepted by Maisie Williams.

As for the record, EW reports that GoT “aired the largest simultaneous broadcast of a television drama when the second episode of the most recent season was simulcast to 173 countries and territories around the world, beginning at 2 a.m. on April 20.”

A Murder of Crows: Season eight

Almost exactly a month ago, HBO announced that Game of Thrones would be returning for at least one additional season, making its grand total eight years (with the possibility of even more seasons to come!). Four weeks is a lot of time – just enough, it turns out, to let the news sink and to properly discuss it when enough of us congregate together to be officially labeled a murder.

HBO is giving all “Game of Thrones” fans a present (or three).
