Back in January, HBO programming president Michael Lombardo indicated at a TCA event that the network was in talks at the time to bring Game of Thrones back for complete seventh and eighth seasons. The news was reassuring to fans hoping for full final seasons, with the typical ten episodes each. However, the rumors of the seventh and potential eighth season being split in half have persisted, without any solid sources- until now.

Today, Variety has reported that David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, executive producers of Game of Thrones, have said “they are considering an abbreviated end game” for the show.

db-weiss-and-david-benioff-game-of-thrones-producers

Entertainment Weekly published a post today wherein David Benioff and Dan Weiss give their opinion on people who spoil Game of Thrones. That opinion can be summed up thusly.

“I just want to point out that guy’s an a–hole,” Benioff says of one of the paparazzi infiltrators. “You’re not cool for doing that, you’re an a–hole.”

There’s more than that inflammatory quote, however. The article delves into how HBO and Benioff & Weiss have been more and more vigilant about protecting their show from spies and spoiler hounds.

Game of Thrones Memory Lane 501: The Wars to Come

Young Cersei

We’re in the home stretch now- 10 episodes left in our #GOT50 rewatch, and 10 days until Game of Thrones season 6! We’re hitting the fifth season today, with the premiere “The Wars to Come.” It was a year ago already that we sat down to watch GoT’s first ever flashback and – a twist that shocked even ASOIAF readers- the end of Mance Rayder, played by Ciarán Hinds. Walking us down Memory Lane today, please welcome back Hannah of Game of Owns! –  Sue the Fury

Written by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, and directed by Michael Slovis (making his series directorial debut), “The Wars to Come” is a well-paced, calculating set-up as we head into the fifth season of Game of Thrones. Arya Stark is notably missing from this episode, while the rest of Westeros’ major players line up and stake their claims in the wars to come.

Behind the scenes of Game of Thrones season 6 filming in Spain

4

We have yet another season 6 treat this afternoon: a special featurette was released today, going behind the scenes of this season’s filming of Game of Thrones in Spain. The 3 and a half minute video was created for Spanish networks as a teaser for a longer behind the scenes feature that will air closer to the season 6 premiere, later this month.

The video takes us into the filming in areas such as Girona, Navarre, Peñíscola, Almería and more, and shares new cast interviews with stars such as Emilia Clarke, Peter Dinklage, Tom Wlaschiha, Isaac Hempstead Wright, Iain Glen, and Michiel Huisman. One hiccup: they’ve been dubbed over with Spanish, as you might expect. We’ll try to get a translation. For now, enjoy the sights and connecting the dots between locations, sets and locations of Westeros and Essos.

Update: A translation of the video is now available and posted below the cut!

Update #2: The captions have been added to a copy of the video and embedded below.

Update #3-  4/13: HBO has uploaded the video in English. We’ve embedded it below!
