  1. Large Ice Continent called “The Narrow” to the East of Essos. What do you guys think? Made up by the Show or actually Canon?

  2. I read this as “new game of thrones main title sequence” and I thought they were changing the show’s intro. Nearly chocked on my food.

  3. You can see Ghost to the left of Castle Black, as well as some dragons at certain points. I’ve spotted 2 so far.

  4. I don’t know if anyone has seen this or not but the new season 6 espisode 1 description now reads “The fate of Jon Snow is revealed”.I know everyone already guessed he’s coming back, in some capacity, but this makes it pretty certain he does. Bummer because it was fun being worried that maybe, just maybe, he wasn’t.

  5. Lol at all the people ‘accidentally’ looking at the Titan’s balls. Totally convincing. 😀

  6. CryZe:

Would seem to be a repeat of “The Narrow Sea” image, just cut off.

  7. I don’t believe you guys: “Accidentally looked up the Titan’s skirt”. I bet none of us straight women did that – neither by accident nor intentionally. Bless you all living in Denialville. 😉

  8. Their Summer Islands are still just blobs, and they continue to use the older map given in Season 2 which no longer matches the books for the Further East of Essos (the Jade Sea extends SOUTH of Qarth in the books). Though I wonder if that’s a legal/contractual thing.

  9. In my defense, I was just watching the astrolabe rotating in the sky then bam, guess I’m in Braavos.

    Other things…
-Winterfell has the Stark Direwolf on it’s cog instead of the flayed man.
-You can see Ghost to the left/west of Castle Black at the -1.28 mark.
    – Previously mentioned White Walker is north of the wall, Northwest direction from the top of the lift.
    – I’m pretty sure I see Drogon outside of Mereeen on a hill at the -0:39 mark

  10. Well, Sothoros and Ulthos don’t seem right based on other maps and information. Which, of course, is totally forgivable and not even really a criticism; it’s super interesting getting a sense of how the title is put together. They’re pretty clever in projecting the map to the globe. Even if the more esoteric continents aren’t quite right, it’s fascinating to see the [vague phallic] Lands of Always Winter extend to the “north pole” while Essos basically wraps around the southern hemisphere with a gap filled by Dorne.

Not that I think this is supposed to be some secret version of canon; it’s just nice to see a different approach that does a clever thing. Obviously the canonical globe would include Macumber’s iris.

  11. I think Jon Snow and every atom of his body are so dead, he creates a black hole of deadness in Game of Thrones. The lying, I don’t think Kit Harington could pull it off, quite simply.

  12. It seems the season will be quite on the short side. Runtimes as of now: 50, 54, 53, 59, 57, 52.

  13. Felx,

That’s why he’s been bad at it. He’s been so obvious in his attempts to keep the spoiler a ‘secret’. Made some silly comments as excuses. Someone should have coached him better on how to answer tricky Qs.

  14. Ghost outside of Castle Black. Night’s King on the other side of the wall. The Stark Sigil on Winterfell. All three dragons on their respective perches around Mereen. The golden balls of the giant Trojan (because I’m a lemming.)

Hopefully Episode 7 is long. We’ll find out Friday.

  16. So the world is there round, but from the inside, like inside of some glass toy for gods ?

  17. So there is also a winter continent behind Asshai ? and it almost borders on the lands behind the wall or am I wrong ?

  18. Jack Bauer 24: Hopefully Episode 7 is long. We’ll find out Friday.

Short is really a relative term? Most network primetime dramas now average 41-44 minutes; Showtime “hour” shows average 48-51 minutes…

  19. Do we know when this extended intro was made?

If it was before the release of “The Lands of Ice and Fire” and “The World of Ice and Fire”, then the confusion makes sense, since GRRM had to create new locations for those publications from what I remember. I doubt anyone in the series is going to Asshai and beyond, so there’s probably no need to update the intro. I wouldn’t look too much into it.

    The shadow beyond Asshai!

I’d often wondered this actually… Whether TLOAW extended so far North, past the pole then south again to meet with (or be close to) the NE edges of Essos/ Asshai/Grey Waste. It makes sense from a global perspective, but I think GRRM has confirmed somewhere that this wasn’t the case.

  21. Deesensfan,

Hey i was reading John Bradley’s thread right now, in that thread you mentioned something about recording Conan episodes if i’m not mistaken right? The thing is that for some weird reason i can’t watch sophie’s episode on their site and it frustrates me since i really want to watch it so i’m asking if you indeed have the episode can you somehow send it to me? I really don’t know how myself, maybe through email?

Is that Winterfell one a hint that the Starks take it back this season?

    I looked up there.

Charter DVR that says the episode is from 8-9 PM CST: a full hour, but that could include commercial time. The full description of “The Red Woman” is, “Daenerys meets a strong man in the Season 6 premiere, while Cersei sees Myrcella once more.” https://www.dropbox.com/s/nj26n45s94hs3pg/TheRedWoman.jpg?dl=0

  25. I just discovered the Titan of Bravos has a huge set of balls underneath his battle skirt. Who knew?

  26. Not that I’m interested… but more curious? How the fuck did you guys (and gals 😉 ) manage to look up the Titan’s kilt? Did have a dick also as well as balls! LOL 😀

Do you have to pause the video and then drag the mouse around or drag the mouse when the video is playing? I found I could pan left and right across the image, but not fully up or down? Only a small amount.

I found the direwolf and a white walker, but no dragons yet!

  27. Black Raven,

Curiosity killed the cat, but that’s why I looked. I paused and rotated up there, after seeing so many others mention it. I only saw two very CGI-ed ball shapes, not anything too detailed, but my resolution may not have been up to what others were seeing.

  28. Ginevra,

OK, I see what you mean. It all looks a bit ‘pixelly’ under the Titan’s skirt and not so clear using my old 1280 x 1024 Benq 19″ flat screen monitor.

Ah I found one of the dragons, but not the others. I’ll take another look later tomorrow. Its 4am here and about time I hit the sack 😮

  29. Connor: On my DVR, it says “The fate of Jon Snow is revealed; Daenerys meets a strong man; Cersei sees her daughter again.”

Mine says the same as yours. It’s interesting that Ginevra’s has nothing to say about Snow.

  30. One of the best shows on tv right now. It must be difficult second-guessing how an audience will take to a forthcoming season. And you have no way of knowing if it will be poor or not.
    got season 6 streaming

  31. Daughter of Winter,

    I wish I could!!!!
I recorded it on my TV – I don’t think I could send it by email, could i???

If you only want to see Sophie’s portion, i think they posted the videos here on this website.. or are they linked to conan’s website?

  32. Deesensfan:
i cant believe the run time of the season premiere is only 50 minutes?!!!!!!!!!!!

Yup. Which is the shortest premiere yet, by quite a margin.

The other episodes are a bit longer, though. The second one is 54, the third 53, the fourth 59, the fifth 57 and the sixth back to a shorter 52. I imagine episode 9 and 10 will have to be quite long, as well. That said, this may be one of the short seasons.

  33. Luka Nieto,

Ugh. I want 60 full minutes every time. LOL

But I am shocked the premiere is that short…. Theres so much to show, and discuss.

Its weird, most TV shows have extra long premieres.

  34. ohhh is that a crow flying west of Winterfell? (looks like tied to a string and flying in circles.. all black bird) o.O

  35. It sucks that the runtimes aren’t a full 60 minutes but at least we don’t get commercials every 5 minutes.

    *cough* the walking dead *cough*

  36. Ygritte,

I have HBO Now and it says the same thing….pretty sure that’s the best we are going to get for a description. I really didn’t want to subscribe, but I don’t regret it…I’m a cord cutter and what I have saved is enormous and there are so many good series on HBO that I just said screw it. I have no regrets. On my tv it looks as good as the Blu Ray playing in the PS4. Clear pic. This will be the first year I can watch it when it airs…I’m pretty psyched!!

  37. Ygritte,

Fear not. Viserion too is my favourite dragon. However, I just realised that if you look underneath you you can see the shadow of a dragon…thus making the viewer Viserion.
Well…at least that’s one possible explanation. Otherwise I think maybe they didn’t include him because of his colour blending into the background or…well…like you said he bites the dust. But I’d be surprised if they killed off one of the dragons before the big fight with the white walkers. I’m sure one or maybe two of them will die but not until season 7 or 8…I hope.

  38. Luka Nieto: Yup. Which is the shortest premiere yet, by quite a margin.

I know. Someone earlier mentioned that relativity was everything, but I think the rest of us are measuring relative to previous episodes of GoT, which have historically been longer than the numbers we’re seeing tossed about for this season. Still, quantity doesn’t mean quality, so let’s hope we get the quality they’re all promising will be in Season 6.

  39. Deesensfan:
    Luka Nieto,

Have we ever had an episode that was 50 minutes?

It seems like I went through IMDb’s numbers and found a handful (three or four) episodes that were 50 minutes. None shorter. And 45 or so that were longer, of course. I think only two or three were longer than 60 minutes – even rarer than a 50-minute episode. This is based off my memory, which isn’t as brilliant as I’d like it to be.

  40. Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that the GOT world is depicted as concave? Old Nan was on to something. Maybe they really do live inside of the eye of a blue-eyed giant named Macumber.
