Tweets of His Name: House of the Dragon Twitter Recap

A few points before we get to the Twitter recap for this week’s episode of House of the Dragon, “Second of His Name.”

#1: I am solemnly ignoring your rude tweets about how pugs don’t belong in a medieval-influenced Westeros. They’re an ancient breed, possessed by royalty, and perfectly suited to the period and class depicted. (At least that’s what my dog told me.)

#2: though opinions on the episode varied (as usual!), people were generally excited to see new families with familiar names.

#3: fans love it when a Thrones show lights everything on fire. And it’s a Labor Day barbecue up in here.

Holiday weekend. Unfashionably late. Get over it.

Welcome to another episode recap of Who Wants to Marry a Targaryen (Who, By the Way, Doesn’t Give a F… About Getting Married)?

How long does it take us to get three years into the future in House? One week! How’s that for service, Dragonheads?!?!

Happy House of the Dragon Week episode 3 week, everyone! Remember me? It’s me from just last week! Wait, you don’t remember? Ah, that’s OK. I’ll remind you what I’m doing here. Every week, for each new episode of HOTD, I’ll be deconstructing the multitude of reviews out there, boiling them down to one short summary sentence that will perfectly encapsulate what the original author was saying, no questions asked…and by that I mean that I will deconstruct whole essays down to one sentence apiece, often quoting them verbatim.

What I will do is attempt to summarize the original review as best I can, and if my tease whets your appetite for their style of review, you are encouraged to head over to their site and let them know…after of course letting us know your thoughts in the comments below. At the bottom, I will summarize my review of the reviewers’ reviews.

All squared? Jolly good, let’s dive in.

White Cloaks, Black Cloaks, and Politics

Kingsguard Selection Criston Cole, Desmond Caron, Rymun Mallister HOTD 1x02 Low

Viserys: Ser Ryam was a strong Lord Commander of the Kingsguard. But he was ill for some time. He passed in peace, I hope.

With the peaceful death of Ser Ryam Redwine, who had served his king long and well, the time was right for the investiture of a new knight, not to take Ser Ryam’s place – Ser Harrold Westerling had been promoted to succeed the old commander. A new knight was required to fill the ranks of the Kingsguard back to its full complement of seven.
