Game of Thrones heading to new locations soon in Spain and Northern Ireland

CanterasGame of Thrones is always finding new territory to put on film, adding Spain to their list of countries and further exploring Northern Ireland.

Osuna, Spain, has long been known to be a shooting location for the show’s fifth season, with the town’s bullring a notable site. A few other areas around Osuna were scouted as well, without any being officially confirmed.

Watchers on the Wall’s Take the Black Contest – Day One!

Winterfell set being prepared for Game of Thrones season 5

Though Winterfell was taken by the Ironborn and burned by the Boltons, the former seat of House Stark remains, and the set is now taking shape again in Northern Ireland.

Originally built at Castle Ward, the set being built this year in Moneyglass (as it was season 2) includes the courtyard where much of the Winterfell action has taken place.

Dubrovnik shooting schedule for Game of Thrones season 5

Filming for Game of Thrones season 5 will soon begin in Dubrovnik, with the Croatian city once more representing King’s Landing.

Sources have revealed the Game of Thrones production team’s schedule for filming in the city. Some of these locations are new, and some have been used previously. Note that these are just the locations to be used in the Old City; it is expected that locations in greater Dubrovnik will also be used.

Filming of Game of Thrones season 5 continues in the Croatian town of Šibenik today.

Yesterday, one fan even managed to capture some footage of the goings on in the square by the Cathedral of St. James, where cast members Maisie Williams, Ian Beattie, Mark Gatiss, and Roger Ashton-Griffiths have all been seen filming.

New pics from Game of Thrones set at St. John’s Fortress, and Dubrovnik begins its King’s Landing transformation

Filming for Game of Thrones season 5 has well and truly begun in Šibenik, Croatia, with scenes being filmed there yesterday and today.

As images were shared by various sites during the construction of the set at St. John’s Fortress, many speculated on what it could be used to film. The following new images offer us a much clearer view on the type of scene(s) we could be seeing there in the fifth season.

Filming begins in Sibenik with Maisie Williams, Mark Gatiss, Roger Ashton-Griffiths and Ian Beattie

Location shooting in the Croatian town of Sibenik for Game of Thrones season 5 began today, and several of the show’s actors were on hand for filming.

Slobodnadalmacija.hr snapped several photos of the scene being shot in front of the historic Cathedral of St. James. There was reportedly controversy over the use of the site but that appears to have been resolved.

The scene filmed involves Mark Gatiss as Tycho Nestoris, Roger Ashton-Griffiths as Mace Tyrell, and Ian Beattie as Ser Meryn Trant. With the characters present and the costuming of the extras, we can see that Sibenik’s square by the cathedral will be standing in for the Free City of Braavos.
