More characters cast for Game of Thrones season 5

Mishael Lopes Cardozo 3Our sources have informed us that Dutch fencing teacher and sometime actor Mishael Lopes Cardozo has been cast for Game of Thrones season 5.

The actor filmed earlier this week in Belfast. He has a speaking role, and it is rumored that he is playing a brothel guard. It is unknown at this time whether or not his fencing skills will come into play.

Derek Lord joins Game of Thrones cast

LordBelfast actor Derek Lord has been cast in Game of Thrones season 5.

The information became more publicly known today when the Greenock Telegraph published an article about the Northern Irish actor unfortunately breaking his wrist on set. The Telegraph also notes that Lord will be playing a “military officer”. However, his Spotlight CV has contained the news of his casting for a few months already.

Now, HBO and Chronicle Books have created a new book, equally packed with never-before-seen photos, production designs, and interviews. Inside HBO’s Game of Thrones: Seasons 3 & 4 is written by Cat Taylor. Cat is best known to fans as the former writer of the “Making Game of Thrones” blog.

The book also features contributions from A Song of Ice and Fire series author George R.R. Martin, and from creators/executive producers David Benioff and D. B. Weiss.

WotW Awards: Best Visual Effects Scene Preliminary Round

After weeks of voting, we’ve finally reached the last of the preliminary rounds for the Watchers on the Wall Awards! Today, we’ll be voting on Best Visual Effects Scene, celebrating the moments on Game of Thrones when VFX made good scenes great, and great scenes a classic.

Starting next week, we will be jumping right into the finals round. The voting will be fast-paced, with shorter voting periods, so stop by often to make your voice heard when it comes to picking the final winners among the top 5 finalists. The awards show date will be announced soon, as well.

The Mountain in Belfast, and Game of Thrones filming in Split continues despite flooding

Over the last week, Game of Thrones has been shooting at Diocletian’s Palace in Split, Croatia. After recent flooding in the area, there had been worries that filming would be affected, perhaps halted altogether.

Luckily, despite a volume of 38 liters of flood water per square meter, filming was able to proceed as planned both yesterday and today. Many fans were happy to report the news on Twitter.

Every season, Game of Thrones delivers the action goods with most episodes having an enjoyable sequence, whether it’s a one-on-one duel or a chaotic brawl. And so there’s no lack of nominees for today’s prelim category in the Watchers on the Wall Awards: Best Action Scene.
