Miss Game of Thrones? Remember that show that everyone forgot how much they liked for nine years because they were so mad about the ending? Yeah, that one. Well anyway, apparently there are three MORE GOT prequel ideas in the works!!!! And who’s to say they’d even stop at three? Why not five? How about six? Surely, seven seems like the most fitting for the GOT universe…Don’t forget House of the Dragon is on the horizon as well, and is already shaping up to be epic as can be, given the cast seems to keep growing. So what more could we get from three new shows? Well…
Olivia Cooke says House of the Dragon won’t include “egregious graphic violence towards women”
The Night’s Cast Episode 31: HoTD Gets Hotter!
More casting news has been announced for House of the Dragon, the Targaryen-centered Game of Thrones spinoff — dare we say that the production train is picking up steam?
Four New Cast Members Announced for House of the Dragon!
With the TCA press events happening this week, it was a safe bet we’d get a tidbit or two about House of the Dragon and the other potential new prequel/spinoffs, but HBO has done much better than that today!
HBO’s new House of the Dragon page at the official site went up today, with info about previously announced cast members- and four new cast and character names!
The new additions are:
George R.R. Martin waxes melancholic on 2020 but says he’s “hopeful” about The Winds of Winter
George R.R. Martin took to his Not A Blog yesterday to share his rather somber thoughts on the past year. Though he also included a somewhat optimistic update to his progress on The Winds of Winter, it would be unfair to characterize that as the focal point of his post. Martin’s exhaustion is palpable.
“2020 was probably the worst year I have ever lived through,” he wrote and that, really, is his post’s thesis statement.Continue reading →

Tamzin Merchant talks about getting recast as Daenerys; “It wasn’t in my heart to tell [her story]”
Sometimes it’s difficult to believe that there was ever a time that Daenerys Targaryen didn’t look like Emilia Clarke but, as those familiar with the infamous un-aired pilot are aware, Clarke wasn’t even the first actress cast to play her. In the original (and forever mysterious) pilot filmed back in 2009, the not-yet-iconic Mother of Dragons was portrayed by Tamzin Merchant. In a recent interview, Merchant spoke for the first time about her stint as Daenerys and how it felt to be recast **Spoiler** she’s actually quite chill about the whole thing.
An animated Game of Thrones prequel might be in the works
HBO is not lacking for Game of Thrones spinoff ideas, it seems. In addition to House of the Dragon, the Dunk and Egg adaptation and a possible Robert’s Rebellion series, there might be yet another prequel in the works. The twist? This one would be animated.
Dunk and Egg in Early Development, and More Game of Thrones Prequels Possible!
Fantastic news for Ice and Fire fans today! After being told for years that it was not happening, some of our most beloved characters may be coming to HBO in the future. Variety reported today a television adaptation of the “Dunk and Egg” stories is currently in the works. For the show-only folks, these novellas by George R.R. Martin follow the adventures of Duncan the Tall and a mysterious boy called Egg, set 90 years before Game of Thrones.
There are three novellas in the “Dunk and Egg” series, providing plenty of material to work with: “The Hedge Knight”, “The Sworn Sword”, and “The Mystery Knight”, and GRRM has said several times he plans to write more (yes, we know, we’ll believe it when we see it). The three novellas were published together as A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms; the title was referenced in the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones, with the knighting of Brienne of Tarth.
Twelve Days of Dragons: what I’m looking forward to in House of the Dragon
As this profoundly crummy year crawls to a close I’ve been struggling to get into any sort of holiday spirit. Then the recent House of the Dragon casting announcements were released and they gave me a much-needed energy boost and the inspiration to write up a list of things I would do if I were in charge of the show I’m hoping for in HOTD in a … vaguely holiday-ish manner.
Potential spoilers for HOTD, I guess? The spoiler policy is kind of weird for this show.
