George R. R. Martin Gives Meaty Update on The Winds of Winter

George R.R. Martin

Calling all Game of Thrones fans and A Song of Ice and Fire fans: He’s done it! The Maestro has done it! George R. R. Martin has completed(!!!)…a blog post detailing his latest updates on the definitely-not-yet-complete but hopefully-further-along-than-it-was-prior-to-quarantine The Winds of Winter. Its predecessor A Dance with Dragons came out NINE years ago next month. Yes, readers, that is correct. Understandably, fans have been getting a little antsy for good news, what with the state of the world in constant flux and all. Hopefully, George’s latest post is a welcome relief of stress. Rest assured that he is, as ever, working, on it. How much so? Let’s check out what he says.

Con of Thrones Postponed Until 2021, with New Dates and Venue Announced!

This won’t come as a huge shock but it’s a disappointment nonetheless for Game of Thrones fans: due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Mischief Management has made the decision to postpone Con of Thrones this year. The annual convention celebrating GoT, A Song of Ice and Fire and the worlds of George R.R. Martin was set to take place July 17–19, 2020. Along with the postponement until 2021 comes an exciting change-up.

In addition to Con of Thrones, Mischief has secured new dates for all its 2020 events — Con of Thrones, LeakyCon Orlando, PodcastCon, and LeakyCon Denver — while keeping the events in the same host cities as previously announced.

Each event’s rescheduled dates are as follows…

I Miss Game of Thrones. But Why?

Ned Stark 101

By Marc N. Kleinhenz

I’ve since written about both the literary and television series for at least six different websites, edited and published a small berth of ebooks on the subject, obsessively listened to the soundtracks while working, and – my personal favorite – prepared countless Feast of Ice and Fire meals with friends (and, even, befriended that cookbook’s author in the process).

All of which, I suppose, helps to explain the realization that has been slowly dawning on me: I miss Game of Thrones – terribly.

George R.R. Martin updates us on House of the Dragon & Winds of Winter; Game of Thrones costume-makers battle COVID-19

Many people seek entertainment such as Game of Thrones to escape reality, especially in times such as these, but sometimes reality hits right back at our diversions. Still, though I can’t claim today’s news are unrelated to the Coronavirus, I assure you I don’t bring grim tidings either. In fact, George R.R. Martin has promising news about the progress of the upcoming Game of Thrones prequel TV series, House of the Dragon, as the man himself keeps working on The Winds of Winter; and some of the show’s own costumers have found a way to battle the pandemic in their own inventive way.
