Game of Thrones season 6 Spain scouting shifts from Navarre to Almería

Recently, it was reported that Game of Thrones had their eye on the Bardenas Reales Natural Park in Navarre for season 6, but a new article suggests the show is looking elsewhere in Spain now.

Last week, a report in Diario de Navarra said that HBO’s people were interested in the semi-desert badlands in northern Spain as a potential shooting site, but were unable to confirm it with Fresco Films Services. (Fresco handles production for Game of Thrones in Spain.)

Today, Diario de Almería says that the city of Almería is almost certainly going to be a new location for season 6 of the show.

Costume designer Michele Clapton not returning for season 6 of Game of Thrones

Michele ClaptonMichele Clapton has designed the look of Game of Thrones for the past five years and according to a new profile in Fashionista, this season was her last.

The costume designer has played a huge role in determining the aesthetic of Game of Thrones, and won two Emmys for her work on the show.

“I feel like we’ve covered all bases now. It was really important to me, knowing that I was going to leave, to actually design the costumes for each [geographic] area  so it’s complete,” Clapton tells Fashionista. “In my head anyway it’s a complete look that I left.”

In addition to sharing the news of her departure, she explains her thoughts behind some of the major costumes we’ve seen in season 5.

David Nutter and Jessica Henwick look ahead at the Game of Thrones season finale

It’s hard to believe we’re almost at the Game of Thrones season finale already,  but then time flies when you love a show with only ten episodes per year. We have a couple new interviews today that look forward at the finale with hints of things to come.

After “The Dance of Dragons,” it wasn’t clear if we’d see Dorne again. With Doran’s negotiations in place, no one knew quite what to expect. Well now a new interview with Jessica Henwick hints that things in Dorne will once again heat up in the finale.

Episode 509 “The Dance of Dragons” brings a slight rise in initial Game of Thrones viewership

The numbers for Sunday are in, and after the record increase last week, viewership of the initial airing is again highest since the premiere of the season: 7.14 million, just a tad over the previous 7 million. People have been busy catching up in the past weeks, as the data (partial and not-so-interesting, I know) shows.
