First images of a monumental meeting between major Game of Thrones characters!

ravenFilming has been ongoing on the lovely islet of Gaztelugatxe in Basque Country for the past couple days, with major Game of Thrones characters descending to begin shooting scenes for season 7.

We’ve seen a few batches of photos and videos come down the pipe this week, but nothing is as exciting as the newest image to drop into our laps. We’ve been able to put two and two together as to what’s going to happen, based on the handful of photos that have surfaced lately, but we weren’t certain if this scene was going to be filmed on Gaztelugatxe or in a studio in Northern Ireland.

A new photo that’s just popped up on Instagram answers the question for us. Tucked safely below the cut, MAJOR SPOILERS!

The image was taken from a distance, and is blurry but that is without a doubt a meeting between Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow taking place. Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington have both been shooting on the islet, and apparently did film a scene bringing together these two leading characters, finally, for the seventh season.

The two appear to be alone for their encounter, overlooking the sea. We see that Daenerys is wearing the new dark outfit she was spotted in earlier.

Rumors have been floating around for weeks that these two powers may be joining forces to take on Cersei and the Crown, and the White Walkers too. Now we have at least one piece of evidence that Daenerys and Jon will be sharing the screen in season 7.

  9. Why does Dany even need Jon though? Jon could leave her to either die or deal with cersei. On the other side, Dany easily has enough men to take Kings Landing, the Lannister forces are fairly depleted.

    My assumption was we wouldn’t see this meeting until Jon asks Dany to come north via Raven to help..

  13. I’m mostly avoiding spoilers but I pretty much expected this so I decided to read this post. As I do not like Daenerys very much, I’m not particulary thrilled about that meeting, definitely not as much as I was for the meeting between Sansa and Jon in previous season.

    Yes. That’s why I decided to read the post despite my decision to avoid spoilers. That meeting seemed pretty obvious to me for quite some time.

  26. It’s happening!!!!! After 6 long years, the 2 main protagonists will finally have a scene together. The setting could not be any more perfect. I can not possibly get anymore hyped for S7.

    Thanks for these posts – I’m probably going to be out of the country and out of internet range for the entire season next year, so I appreciate having some advance knowledge about what the season holds (I’d rather have the chance to speculate beforehand than run into definite spoilers once I’m back within internet range next November….)

  36. I’m excited even if the Dany plot isn’t my particular favorite. With these short seasons, I am looking forward to seeing how it will wrap up. The writers have a lot of stuff to cram into 13-14 episodes.
    Now, for me to get really hype I need a Jon/Arya or Arya/Sandor reunion.

    It’s true it doesn’t seem she’s wearing a coat there, and Jon is in heavy furs…
    I wonder if D&D is going with “Danny doesn’t feel the cold as much as others do” because of her Fire thingy…

  47. Admittedly, I scroll through a lot of posts after reading the first couple sentences, but I haven’t noticed a troll problem and that means someone out there is doing a fantastic job. And I know how much that sucks. Good job, moderating crew.

    As prevalent as the other filming photos for this location have been, you know D&D knew this one was going to get out and they don’t seem to have done too much to hide it. They could have held up for a day and asked for that overlook from where people were filming and taking photos to be closed. But they didn’t. That makes me wonder if they are letting this one out because there are other surprises and meetings we just aren’t going to expect.

    Yes, it looks like some rather intimate talk several hours after the official introduction and has a bit of the vibe of the scenes betwee Ned & Catelyn and Sansa & Littlefinger, also Jon & Mel. And I just wonder, if our bellowed KITN wears a mantle in this scene, and our bellowed Mother of Dragons is just in her leather dragon-riding costume, will Jon’s mantle end on her shoulders this evening: “Nights are cold, my lady. Winter has come.” Sigh… Too sweet for GoT probably.

What I think for the way Dany is looking maybe Jon is trying to convince her that the real war is in the north and not in the south… which is very troubling for her been so close to take the throne… and she need to make a decision go North and help or take the Throne from Cersei…. Will see what happen…. Now I need Jon and Arya reunited I’ll be happy 🙂

  54. If I add a bit to my comment, first-time meetings are not very significant to me in general. For example, Tyrion/Daenerys meeting was a nice scene, but I didn’t got any chills. Arya killing Walder Frey was another example of it – it didn’t feel satisfying for me because the characters had absolutely no scenes before it.

    I am way more touched by reunions – people who know each other but haven’t seen each other for a long time. I absolutely loved Sansa/Jon reunion and I liked Jaime/Brienne reunion and I would love to see Arya reunite with the Starks or Tyrion with Jaime or Daenerys with ser Jorah.

    Completely agree with the similarities between Jon and Ned; the post-resurrection outfitting and hairstyling from last season really emphasized that link between the two of them. In some ways, I find Jon to be more like Ned than Robb (possibly a result of Jon having a greater desire to emulate Ned as he felt he needed to prove himself worthy of being Ned’s son more than Robb ever did). Jon’s Starkness looks to be emphasized more in season seven if this is anything to go by – which is fitting given that he is now King in the North.

    I don’t think this is their first meeting – I think that will be indoors – but I cannot wait to see the two of them engaging on screen. There have been so many parallels in their stories, and it will be amazing to see them finally meet for the first time!!!! And so, so fitting that it will happen at their common ancestral home.

    Maybe it’s not even that cold and it’s just a stark thing? lol. IIRC Cat and Robb used to rock furs sometimes when they were up south as well.

    No official confirmation yet on how many episodes season 8 will have. Last time D&D were heard on the subject the official line was 13-15 episodes left, which would mean season eight could have as many as 8 episodes…

    That wouldn’t really make sense, since heat and cold are two opposites, and she is completely immune to heat. In the books Ned can withstand more of the cold. So in the books at least Starks might have a bit of an immunity to the cold.

    I didn’t look at this thread until the Emperor’s remarks had been removed so I don’t know what they said. Some people one can have a sensible debate with if they hold different views – then other people just don’t seem able to respect another person’s right to hold an alternative opinion. I find it a bit tiresome when I come across the tired refrain of nothing is any good now that the show has bypassed the books and that it’s all fan fiction, like the Starks winning back Winterfell – but book Jojen if my memory serves me rightly said that “the Wolves will come again” so some of these things were foretold in the books – like Melisandre seeing Bolton banners burning only she thought it would be Stannis to effect it – I remember something in ADWD about book Melisandre looking in the flames for Stannis’ image and seeing nothing but snow (which I took as metaphoric for Jon Snow) and then there is that bally talking raven who says “Snow” many times (along with the Griffs, “where do whores go”, “if I look back I am lost” I shed no tears about talking raven being cut from the show – there were some minor characters I kind of wish had made the cut though).

    Yep I looked for the green screen too but the fact that 2-3 of the actors aren’t down + Tyrion looking up looks similar to Drogon turning up for the Meereen Fleet Barbeque from S06E09

I knew this day would come but I still wasn’t prepared for it.My babies finally meeting.I have waited for this shit since 2011.I know other people have waited much longer and it’s finally happening.I don’t think this is their first meeting but this scene at sunset will turn out to be absolutely gorgeous on screen.It’s absolutely perfect that they are meeting at Dragonstone even if they don’t know it means so much to them.:Dany’s birth place,the start of the dynasty,Rhaegar’s seat.I should have thought of it but it didn’t cross my mind.I always thought they would meet in the north but this way is much better.They have time to know each other before the apocalypse lol.

    This is most definitely not the first meeting, but a contemplative chat between them later.
    I was never one for any kind of romantic story for these two, but that first pic, where she is looking away and he’s looking at her – the chemistry is off-the-charts even in a blurry pic. 😀 D&D are clever, they have brought them together earlier than many of us anticipated, perhaps to develop a relationship more organically.
    Now please give me Tyrion, Pod and Bronn………

  100. Looks like we will get to see some reunions. Jon and Tyrion will reunite since season 1. Jon and Theon will reunite plus Sansa and Theon. Davos and Gnedry will reunite. Little Finger and Varys will reunite. Alot of the male characters already know each other its pretty much just the female characters that are new like Dany, Yara, the sand snakes and the queen of thrones. While I don’t see Jon having any problem with powerful woman because he was great with Arya and Sansa I think it will be weird. Jon has more in common with Davos and Tyrion. Jon is humble and an outsider. Dany is proud and the center of attention. Dany and Jon couldn’t be more different in their behaviour. I don’t see Jon standing by when Dany uses her Dragons to burn people alive.

    Well, emperor’s comment was actually nothing special. Just a saying how Jon/Sansa reunion was one of the worst things that happened inside the show (a response to my comment where I stated that Jon/Daenerys meeting does not give me any chills as opposed to Sansa/Jon reunion).

    Like I said before, I moved past negativity in the last couple weeks and I do not intend to be frustrated by negative comments anymore.

    Rhaeghar was obessed with “the song of ice and fire” (“he has a song and he is the song of ice and fire”) a prophecy that made him run away with Lya starting the war of the Usurper .As a result Robert became king and his death started the war of the 5 kings (the main theme of the show for 5 seasons) red priest are all trying to find the chosen one because the long night is coming ,the Old gods have chosen Bran for a similar reason .The wall was build because of the Others and dragons are important for the war to come .That song is what shaped their fates ( all of them) ,it’s not just about Dany and Jon .G.R.R.M said that the main characters of the story are Tyrion,Jon,Bran,Dany,Arya but others like Sansa and Cat and Ned and Cersei or Jaime etc are not less important.

Obviously it’s a cool location but it seems odd for Daenerys to use the small building and long stair path for so much “business” rather than the castle itself.   111. I just hope that they’re not gazing out to sea at the sunset from Dragonstone, which is on the East Coast and would therefore have the sun setting over the mainland (unless MMD’s prophecy is coming true in a literal sense).

    I agree. Calling Jon and Daenerys main protagonists is a bit “disrespectful” towards other main characters. Characters like Tyrion, Arya, Sansa, Bran etc. were present since the beginning and every one had their own storyline and developed a lot during that time. I think “two key characters” is a better word for them.

    They don’t need a green screen for all effects and the “lollipop” is typically used if there’s interaction with the nonexistent thing, such as Dany petting a dragon. For a fly-by they wouldn’t need that.

    OMG, that one is beautiful. Clearly, Dany does not see Jon as a threat since they are standing intimately close to each other, with no one else in sight. The cinematography in that scene is going to be gorgeous: a King and Queen, in all their finery, at dusk, overlooking the Narrow Sea discussing matters of great importance. Today is Christmas and my Birthday rolled into one!

  128. Hah! Amusing to visit the L7R website and realize that the Spanish word meaning source/informer/mole is ‘fuente’: literally ‘fountain’ or ‘wellspring.’ Whoever it is certainly is a font of information!

    Spanish has such cool idioms. One of my favorites (very appropriate for GoT) is one of their equivalents for ‘between a rock and a hard place’: ‘entre la espada y el paréd,’ literally ‘between the sword and the wall.’ Very vivid imagery.

    Yes, the familiarity seems to be on fast track in Season 7. The last photo with her hand on the wall and half turned, seems to be her looking behind as someone perhaps calls or comes down, interrupting their tete-a-tete.

    Yeah I was wondering the same thing. It seems odd there is so much filming at the one area and there is no green screen anywhere to add to the location in post processing.

    Because it’s a dragon, of course! Nothing that Jon has ever seen compares to an actual dragon!!!!
    Tbf, I don’t think it’s wrong to be afraid of one or want to take shelter– I just wish the show wouldn’t forget that Jon Snow’s got a mythical creature of his own. I’m sorry, but I’m so petty when it comes to how the show treats the wolves, like Jon was proclaimed the White Wolf yet they couldn’t even use stock-footage or whatever of his white wolf in the scene. Right now I’m assuming Ghost is still at the Wall so that when it falls he’ll conveniently dies and they don’t have to bother with him anymore.

    Do we know this for a fact? In the books, the people of Crackclaw Point were never really conquered by the Andals and have a lot of the blood of the First Men. But their neighboring overlords, Houses Celtigar and Velaryan, are kin to the Targaryens who came to Westeros at the same time, just before the Doom. Surely there must have been some intermarriage.

    Tyrion has taken Barristan’s storyline so they don’t have enough material .Also he is George’s favourite character ,the character he relates the most making him the easiest character to write for George and the hardest character to write for D&D.You have to be inside George’s head to properly write Tyrion.

    Well technically Dany is both. Jahearys , Danys Grandfather was half Targ and Half Blackwood (same goes for BloodRaven) so Dany has Ice also.

  141. I doubt that Jon and Davos are prostration themselves in fear before a dragon. It’s more likely a smart survival response to get down if they heard a completely unfamiliar loud roar and huge shadow overhead from behind them. ?

    Indeed. Aunt and nephew are looking quite cozy. And if the actors’ offscreen (amaaaaazing) chemistry is anything to go by, this scene will be amazing. Can’t wait til next season.

    As I have read the whole thread ..I would like to address couple of things…

    This is definitely not their first scene..

    That scene with kit and Davis on ground must be dany flying drogon over the head …I don’t think we need green balls for this scene because one they will be seeing dragon far away and over their head …so they will impose dany and dragon later I guess..

    I would have loved ghost to he there to see how he reacts to dany and how dany reacts to it ..

    They appear to meet mid-season, and so am assuming that Daenerys has arrived in Westeros and been there long enough to build up a reputation before this meeting. Events will move faster in season seven than they have in previous seasons. They have to in order for everything to be done in eight seasons.

    I’m certainly not a fan of the whole marriage theory but I think it would be great for them to know that there is another family member; Dany in particular having a nephew and subsequently a piece of her brother. Jon of course will still have his remaining cousins and my hope is he will remain a Stark northerner till the end of his days.

    It also needs to be said that what we see on screen could be pretty different from what the remaining books will be, especially with such a rushed last two seasons and D&D having deviated to much of their own ideas. It will be interesting to see the contrasts to be sure when the remaining books come out…..if I am still alive for their releases! ?

A lot of people are taking it as a given that season 7 will be almost all about Dany and her posse battling Cersei and very possibly her new bud Euron, followed by season 8 being devoted to the survivors led by Jon duking it out with the White Walkers. But what if the two stories are more connected than that? What if that’s not Benioff, Weiss and GRRM’s plan at all?

    What if the true enemy is Bran? What if Littlefinger announced he was giving up the brothel business and cornering the newly lucrative dragon glass market? What if instead of a GOT/Westworld mash-up, Martin proposed a Mystery Science Theatre 3000/Gilligan’s Island mash-up? Who would play Ginger Grant: Gypsy or Crow T. Robot? Why weren’t the castaways, especially the Professor, smart enough to repair a simple hole in the ship’s hull? Was the Minnow actually a U.F.O.?

    In the books the characters with the most lines/pages are Jon and Tyrion, I don’t remember which has more. Tyrion is Martin’s favourite character. Martin said that the main characters that are central to the storyline are Tyrion, Arya, Bran, Dany and Jon and the rest of the characters are just their to round out the storyline. Jon is the song of Ice and Fire becacuse he is stark and trageryan. Plus all the 2 of the 5 main characters are tageryans (Dany and Tyrion) and 2 are strak (Bran and Arya).

    Kit has been constantly telling people in Belfast that they are not allowed to take photos there. Considering all the other actors have been getting clicked, I had assumed he was only making excuses because he did not want to do it. However, considering Emilia is being forbidden from taking pics in Spain, maybe Kit really has been put under a similar condition in Belfast because they don’t want people to know that these two have been filming at the same time and place.

Could u just imagine Arya.     Please forgive me for sounding stupid, but as I read through this thread, and consider all the implications of a meeting between Dany & Jon’s characters, a question is forming in my mind.

    Bran is the 3 Eyed Raven. Bran knows the truth about Jon and a lot of other stuff. But how will Bran get anyone to believe him or acknowledge his authority in these matters. I can see the Stark siblings believing him, and Jon, but what about all the other characters like Varys, Tyrion, Dany, etc. ?

    Without some evidence or other witnesses who would believe it? Maybe the people who are expecting Howland Reed to show up are right.

    I’ve been re-watching and I’m up to Season 3 episode 5. Jaime was talking to Brienne in the bath, about how the mad kinf had wild fire stashed all over King’s Landing.

I would feel that Season 7 will be focused towards the battles between Lannisters & Targaryens / Starks while the white walker & Bran story (as well as the real coming out of Jon Snow’s true identity) will happen in Season 8 with the finale of a grand battle between the white walkers and humans.

    This will possibly effectively culminate the series.

    Having assumed this, do they really need a season for beating up an already battered Cersei?

    I will assume that the Citadel / Samwell and his research to get the whitewalkers will also happen in this season. Something interesting to look forward to?

At the pace things are going, and with so many subplots needing to be concluded or reintroduced, I worry Season 7 will rush things than properly settle things with a bang.

    That’s what I thought too. He is leaving Dragonstone, probably for the North. That’s why he has his furs on (when he did not have it on in any of the other scenes).

    There is no sign of the Greyjoys or their people at Dragonstone. It seems to be just the dothraki and the unsullied. So the Jon Thoen meeting will happen somewhere else.

So, we’ll see him most likely with fur but then Ned travelled south without it,even Cat. Might be that winter is truly coming but Dragonstone?

    Jon and Theon meeting is either on the way south or in the North. But why would Theon head to the North, when he knows, he’s wanted dead there. They would hang him and not only that Jon would be angry a him, but for them he’s a traitor.

    I would like to see Jon travelling to Riverlands but Dragonstone might be the only destination. It seems clear that he’s gonna be at Dragonstone for at least two episodes not only from spoilers here but logic that they need to establish rapport between Jon and others from Team Dany. Meeting, gaining trust, negotiations, Davos and Tyrion going to KL and then leaving.

    But agree here with others that hell receive a raven from Dany to be summoned to Dragonstone to choose Cersei or her. King in the North is kind of leader or man to go there+ dragonglass with three dragons could be another useful things.

    A lot of people have Valyrian or First man blood. I dont think that is the significant factor. There has been Targaryen and First men match ups before. Bloodraven was an example of this.
    So the First man blood by itself is not significant. After the dance of the dragons, there was a pact of ice and fire between the Targaryens and the Starks, but for some reason this pact never materialized.
    I think there might be something important about that. It is not the first man blood that is important it is the Stark blood.
    I think it is quite likely that the Nights King might have been a greenseer Stark, and that might have have something to do with it.

  267. Wow these photos have been mind blowing recently… It’s amazing how much we’re getting and how our knowledge (and expectations) of what’s to come have been spun around several times.

    They really are using those walkways for a lot of scenes it would seem, which is hardly surprising as it does look breathtaking. I’m guessing an equally impressive dragonstone will be CGI’d in the background.

    The shot of Jon and Davos on the ground is definitely their first glimpse of a dragon- wondering if that’s why they were filming shots of the caves at Itzurun, to serve as their lairs (though they may be a little big for those caves).

    The positioning of the camera crew doesn’t seem quite right though as the angle isn’t optimum to capture them on the ground. Maybe it’s just from the angle the photos were taken though, or perhaps they’ll film at multiple angles?

    Can’t wait to see these scenes onscreen!

    Littlefinger is an option too. He seems to know a lot and he could have connected the dots recently. Moreover, it would be in his interests: he saw Jon being acclaimed KITN, he realizes his potential now, so wouldn’t it be reasonable to push him to the Iron Throne regaining Sansa’s trust on the way, and then if Jon dies in the wars to come, Sansa would become a heiress of the Seven Kingdoms, and if Littlefinger is her husband at the time he gets the IT jus uxoris, and his “pretty picture” finally comes true. (And if Jon fails to die, Littlefinger will be happy to help him).
    So, I wouldn’t be surprised, if Ep701 will catch right after Jon’s acclamation with Littlefinger revealing his true parentage and starting a new chant of “Jon-Targ-to-the-Throne!”
    Of cause, Bran and Arya will undermine his plan pretty soon, and that’s why in the second half of the season we can expect Littlefinger switching sides and deciding to bring Cersei Sansa’s head on a spike.

    Their meeting by the gate is a later meeting/goobye, and as Jon is wearing his cloak (he looks so much like Ned, *cries*), he’s probably about to go back up North, as in other photos he’s not wearing it.

    Photo of Jon and Davos on the ground is definitely because they see/hear a dragon. A greenscreen/ball-on-stick isn’t necessary for this kind of scene, and its similar to how other characters have reacted. Missandei looking unfazed nad Tyrion offering a helping hand seems to prove this. (I hope he brings Ghost, because that would be an awesome ‘let’s compare crazy beasts’ thing, and he might be put in later via CGI, but it doesn’t seem likely that Jon would take him south. If I were leaving my sister alone with Littlefinger I’d leave a direwolf with her too.)

    What are your thoughts – did Bran get to Winterfell and tell Jon his parentage BEFORE Jon went south? This seems too easy, but it would be awesome. I defintitly think there’ll be somehting in the crypts, but maybe just in the books. The gravestone thing from when he had the pox would be an awesome reveal, as would the harp, etc., but I’m getting carried away.
    As the actress for Meera has been seen filming at Winterfell set, I hope there is some kind of revelation early in the season. Do y’all think it’ll be drawn out? I was pretty certain Jim Broadbent would be playing Maerwyn the Mage, but now I hope he’s Howland Reed and everything gets confirmed. I don’t ship Jon/Dany, as their personalitites are too different, but I would love for her to just finally have some family, and I think Jon sharing stories of Aemon would be a nice moment. I think a political/military alliance would be good, and I truly think a marriage between Jon/Sansa would secure his hold on the North, and get her the power she deserves.

    I hope Bran doesn’t arrive while Jon is south, tells Littlefinger and Sansa everything, and Littlefinger uses it to his advantage, but knowing my luck that could happen. I just really want that mofo to die. I really want Sansa to not fall into temptation (even though she deserved more recognition, and should really rule as Jon’s co-regent), and to play Petyr at his own game. I want Arya and the Hound to arrive, the Hound to be all like ‘I saw Baelish put a knife to your Dad’s kneck’ and then Petyr die a slow agonising death.

    I know quite a lot of people who are not exactly fans of this. I asked people. But it differs. Some thinks there is no time for such a romance. But I also know a lot of people who would love it.

    Since we’re at it. What if they’re gonna twist it and no marriage? I mean, D&D are known to throw people off the tracks when it coms nwhat to expect. Also, what Tyrion said to her that Daario won’t be the last man to love her, implies he might be with that look. Hotu vision seems to indicate her feeling towards that person which might be Jon but what if he’s not gonna return those feelings.

  286. It’s finally happening! I never thought blurry pictures would make me so happy, lol. I’m glad the show runners decided to film some of their scenes outside like this. The cinematography is going to be gorgeous, I can already see it.

    The last picture looks so intimate, with them so close. If Jon is allowed to be alone with Dany like that, it seems they have already spend time together in other scenes and trust each other at this point. Before leaving Meereen, Daenerys said she would probably make an alliance through marriage, and now she knows and apparently trusts the King in the North. It seems the bride of fire vision is coming true. I’m looking forward for the possible political marriage and I wouldn’t mind a little bit of romance, too.

    I don’t think that LF knows who Jon’s parents are; I do think that he suspects there is more to Lyanna’s disappearance than a simple kidnapping. I think he suspects she ran away and that Ned has kept up the story of a kidnap to protect his sister’s reputation and name rather than admitting she ran off with a married prince. It is the sort of honorable thing Ned would be suspected of.

    Hmm, I’m not sure I like the idea of Jon acting like a chump upon seeing a dragon.

    This is a guy who didn’t even blink when faced with a White Walker. He had a fist fight with one, for goodness sake!

    And he stood in front of a few hundred cavalry charging towards him and didn’t flinch.

    I wouldn’t take issue with him ducking for safety with a dragon dive-bombing him if they hadn’t already depicted him acting cool as a cucumber when confronted with similarly magical and menacing sights.

    I hope that if he really is ducking for cover it’s because the dragon appears out of nowhere, and he ducks instinctively in surprise. And it’d help if Tyrion and Missandei did acknowledge their own surprise, if not going so far as to duck for cover themselves.

    Otherwise it really would come across like an attempt to drag Jon down a peg or two, which I don’t like or feel is necessary.

    I wouldn’t expect him to have no reaction to seeing a dragon, but dropping to the ground in fear, after all he’s seen and done? I hope it’s better than that.

    My assumption now though, was that since we know Dany is going to be betrayed due to love, that she would be the central figure of the triangle, with Jon and Tyrion.

    Funny, see and I think their personalities are too similar … both of them are just so humorless! Jon benefited from his relationship with Ygritte and her teasing seeming to lighten him up earlier than Dany did eventually with Daario 2.0. If their end game was going to be a longer term part of the show and not just the denouement, I’d have a hard time being sold on them. Now, Kit and Emilia are both imo, very funny people from some of the things I have seen them do on the side (Seth Meyers takes Jon Snow to a dinner party for one!) so maybe if there was less solemnity written into their characters I would feel differently.

    And fortunately, you don’t need to be a barrel of laughs just to have some hot sex and fuck your enemies up together, because I don’t think we’ll end up seeing much of their eventual life together (if they do both live) beyond that.

    Because Cersei’s forces are enemies to both of them (both of them know this), and the White Walkers are enemies to both of them (Jon at least knows this). Reaching out to parlay and make an alliance as soon as they’ve heard of each other’s existence is a good move, rather than waiting till things are desperate.

    Jon may be more concerned with the White Walkers than anything else, but he *does* have to worry about his hostile Lannister neighbors to the south who still declare his forces traitors to the Iron Throne and might attack him at any time.

    It’s called The Pact of Ice and Fire. Targaryen princess promised to Starks. If Rhaegar and Lyanna did married then that pact was fullfiled although it’s not Targ princess but Starks. Maybe, we could count that in.

    But I think there must be something about Starks, White Walkers, crypts. Something that ties them up,but don’t think show will explain it, but maybe books will, because Starks manned the Wall for thousand of years. Bran the Builder built the Wall or at least it’s said and CotF helped him. There was some magic involved in building it, why Bloodraven or 3ER is thousands of years old. Why he send Stark kids direwolves with upcoming White Walkers invasion. He knows a lot about history and somehow Starks are connected to Ice as White Walkers.

    Other than that they seem fairly unbalanced with Targaryens who were controlling dragons.

    Is it possible that the reason for Jon and Davos’ reaction to the dragons is that they are as yet unaware of the existence of these dragons? That’s the only explanation I can think of for their reaction. It’s extreme because they are not aware that dragons are back in the world.
    We saw Measter Aemon and Sam talk about Dany. Aemon seemed to be keeping tabs on her purely out of personal interest, so Jon might not necessarily be aware of them?

I don’t know that they would spend the whole season beating her down but she needs to be dealt with for sure. At this point she is queen and one of her #1 goals in life is to take out Sansa Stark and Tyrion so I think that she will be trying to send forces to WF this season especially when she catches word that LF and the Vale rallied behind the north now. I actually can’t wait to see what she does this season since she has nothing holding her back. I REALLY can’t wait to see the interaction between Cersei and Jaime this season. It’s going to be sooo good!

    People are loyal to him and he’s basically a new hero, so only chance might be that he’s kid of this “evil” Rhaegar who was supposed to kidnap Lyanna, daughter of Rickard and sister of beloved Ned. So, for that he needs solid proof or manage to convince Sansa somehow to digg around it too.

    D&D hyped us about Jon vs Sansa feud but maybe it will be that Sansa is going to enjoy being a ruler so much, that she’s gonna undermine Jon with the help of LF as the one to tell her whispers and who knows but somehow his parentage will be public and cause problem for him, the North and well everyone else.

    Well, Daenerys is the who said “the best way to make alliances is with marriage”. A political marriage with the King in the North is by far the most beneficial option. For me, the House of the Undying vision means marriage because, you know, bride of fire. And more and more it seems this is the direction the story is going. I don’t know for sure if it will involve romance, but I would be totally okay with it. It probably won’t end with them living happily ever after, but love is a natural part of life and GRRM is a romantic.

They are not like the Tyrells or the Lannisters who make alliances to satisfy their ambitions.They will probably marry after the war to secure the peace and heal the realm.Or they will fall in love but Jon will stay in the North (a bittersweet ending for them) . Can Danny have children? Maybe a storm or Euron’s fleet sinks a large portion of Dany’s ships and leaves her ground forces depleted. Also, Aegon the Conqueror and his sisters were experienced dragonriders; Dany is currently the only one and she is new to it. Thus, she needs allies like Jon. Tyrion was friends with Jon and would likely push for such an alliance. It’d be easier to unite with him than to go to war with the North, Riverlands, and Vale.

    I don’t think Ned Stark ever actually told anyone who Jon really is. That was the easiest way of ensuring that nobody ever found out beyond him, Howland and the handmaidens. That said, I do think that Benjen figured it out for himself. It is telling, I think, that Benjen left before Bran had his vision of the Tower of Joy interior. I don’t think Varys and LF have any suspicions regarding Jon’s parentage as such, simply that they don’t buy the kidnapping element of Ned’s version of events around Lyanna’s disappearance. Robert won the war, and as such his version of events become the truth; I think that people like Varys and LF bought Ned’s story that Lyanna died of a fever (what is stated in the books) but not that her disappearance was a kidnap.

We all knew it was going to happen and I have a theory that for whatever reason Jon left the North (i.e., dragonglass, see Dany, whatever), it could be our near miss for him missing Arya or Bran showing up at Winterfell. I hope not. I also wonder if the scenes with Gendry, Tyrion and Davos was them going to fetch Gendry because Davos knows he can work with dragonglass and they need him to forge weapons. Total tinfoil and I don’t normally stoop to handing out theories, but I will love to find out what did happen to bring about this meeting and the meeting with Gendry.

    You know I was just thinking about that last night and I too think Littlefinger could possibly know more about Lyanna and Rhaegar. When he and Sansa were in the Winterfell crypts Sansa was saying how her aunt had been, “kidnapped and raped” and Littlefinger countered with, “was she?” I think he knows more than he’s letting on and that kind of worries me.

    I am wondering how they do find out about Jon being a Targ. Maybe one of the dragons lands near him and leans a wing towards him for him to climb up and ride???? That would be cool. It would certainly leave Jon and Dany and everyone else speechless.

    And the third dragon-rider Targ is a mystery.

    Can’t wait to see Jaime meet Brienne again, Arya to meet Cercei and also Melisandre and also Jon and Sansa and also the Hound and also Gendry (I hope all that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!), Olenna to get Cercei, Tyrion to perhaps meet Cercei, maybe the Clegane brothers to meet. So many convergences.

    Dany doesn’t need Jon. She doesn’t specifically ask for Jon, she sends a ravens to all Lord’s vassels for them to come show support. Jon will answer the call. I am going to suspect that most will not answer the call. The reason why Dany is requesting support is two reason: one Euron does put a significant dent into her army w/ the help from Jamie. This helps prove that Euron and Cersei actually are no pushovers. Lannisters do still have support – there will still be crownland support, Stormland support because her kids were Baratheon’s, Westerlands support because she is a Lannister. I could see the Tarly’s going on the side of Lannisters and he has a nice army. Lastly she has the bulk of the Ironborn as well. In war on Westeros there are always lords and vassals that will choose the weaker side because if the weaker side some how wins the gains for those lords will be enormous, a great example of two lords who did and won were the Tyrell’s defying the Gardeners and joining the Targaryens, this is how they became the Great Lord of the Reach. Also, the Tully’s did the same thing, they assisted the Targaryens and were given the Riverlands! So Lannister’s do still have strength and they will dent Dany’s army, which will surprise the readers and viewers. This requires Dany to re-think her plan – she heads to Dragonstone and realizes she needs local support. dany sends ravens for support because she can’t defeat the Lannisters without destroying Kings Landing and Tyrion will talk her out of using the dragons on Kings Landing. The Lannisters are not that depleted the show has just given the effect that Cersei is downright hated now and would be murdered if she was surrounded by Lannister forces. Jon will probably be dealing with politics in the north to start the season and realize that the north is too big with no enough men to stop the walkers. He then gets the raven from dany and knows he needs to go because she has DRAGONS!

    See what is Jon doing for 3 to 4 episodes and what could possibly happen after their meeting in only 2 episodes. Jon does not have his army with him so he is not attacking Kings Landing and the politics in the north won’t take 3 to 4 episodes. it will happen much much much sooner. I am going to guess no later than episode 3 tho. Jon and Dany this season will have more than just meeting with each other to form alliance. I think the alliance will happen quicker so that some mission is performed.

  327. So, are we 100% certain this scene will be in Season 7? With the number of episodes left in the series, it’s possible they could be filming Season 7 and 8 together. This could happen in Season 8. Either way…super excited about this, though I’m actually more excited about Jon and Tyrion meeting up again 🙂

    Hah! Amusing to visit the L7R website and realize that the Spanish word meaning source/informer/mole is ‘fuente’: literally ‘fountain’ or ‘wellspring.’ Whoever it is certainly is a font of information!

    Spanish has such cool idioms. One of my favorites (very appropriate for GoT) is one of their equivalents for ‘between a rock and a hard place’: ‘entre la espada y el paréd,’ literally ‘between the sword and the wall.’ Very vivid imagery.

    And in French, which is also a Latin language like Spanish or Italian, we’d say “entre le marteau et l’enclume”, which would be translated by “between the hammer and the anvil”. Nice wink at Gendry. 🙂
