Nothing puts the fun in funeral like a dysfunctional family reunion. “Driftmark” brought tensions to a boiling point and sowed further division among the royal family, setting the stage for greater conflict to come.
Hightowers, Velaryons and Targaryens face off in photos for this week’s House of the Dragon, “Lord of the Tides”!
As we see in the new promotional stills taken by photographer Ollie Upton, this Sunday’s episode of House of the Dragon, “Lord of the Tides,” takes us several years forward—for the last time; this is the final time jump, not just of the season but of the whole story. “Lord of the Tides” is reported to jump six years forward, which means new cast members play the children characters we met in the last few episodes… except they’re children no more, but teenagers and young adults!

Unsullied Recap House of the Dragon Season 1 Episode 7 “Driftmark”
The definition of funeral, compliments of dictionary.com: the ceremonies for a dead person prior to burial or cremation; obsequies.
See also: an ideal event to unpack past family drama and bullshit that typically leads to awkwardness combined with the vast consumption of alcoholic beverages.
And this is probably where they got us. Almost everyone reading this has been to an awkward family funeral. Add in some illegitimate kids and dragons… what in seven hells could possibly go wrong?
House of the Dragon Review/Recap Roundup Season 1 Episode 7 – Driftmark
On we go into House of the Dragon episode 7! Remember me? It’s me from just last week! If you don’t remember me, that’s OK. You can’t see me, probably. I’m there, lurking on your very black screen. I used to be bright, but then I was inexplicably shadowed in post-production. As you remember (or in case you cannot see my beautiful face), every week, for each new episode of HOTD, I’ll be deconstructing the multitude of reviews out there, boiling them down to one short summary sentence that will perfectly encapsulate what the original author was saying, no questions asked…and by that I mean that I will deconstruct whole essays down to one sentence apiece, often quoting them verbatim.
What I will do is attempt to summarize the original review as best I can, and if my tease whets your appetite for their style of review, you are encouraged to head over to their site and let them know…after of course letting us know your thoughts in the comments below. At the bottom, I will summarize my review of the reviewers’ reviews.
All squared? Jolly good, let’s dive in.
House of the Dragon Post-Mortem of “Driftmark”
Last night gave us One Wedding and a Funeral, not to mention a stolen dragon, a maimed prince, and a murdered? king consort. In “Driftmark” the rift between Rhaenyra’s Blacks and Alicent’s Greens grew wider and is quickly approaching the point of no return. No doubt House of the Dragon will ratchet up the stakes as we head toward the season’s conclusion, but for now let’s make like Alicent with that dagger and rush into today’s interviews and videos!
