Everyone is talking about the final scene with Jon Snow from last night’s Game of Thrones season 5 finale. Kit Harington, the show’s producer and episode director are giving interviews today discussing the shocking events at the Wall, and whether that really happened. John Bradley also weighs in Jon Snow’s possibilities in season 6.
Major spoilers, so consider yourself warned!
Brienne of Tarth finally made her move in the Game of Thrones season finale, abandoning her post watching Winterfell. It was a big moment for Gwendoline Christie and the actress talks to The New York Times and Entertainment Weekly about Brienne’s actions in “Mother’s Mercy.”
Christie’s comments in the New York Times make the fate of Stannis absolutely clear, despite some viewers finding the scene’s ending ambiguous.
Spoiler note: The discussion in this post is primarily for non-book readers (book fans can discuss the show-only here). We ask that all Sullied book-readers refrain from posting spoilers in the comments here, veiled or otherwise. No spoilers, at all! This show is best viewed without knowing all the surprises beforehand or afterwards, so please be respectful of your fellow fans. Thank you!
Ladies and Sers of the Wall, welcome to the final installment of this year’s unabated, Unsullied recap, compliments of yours truly.
The Finale may have given us what we hoped for in terms of discussion, but left us hanging in more ways that we might have once imagined (no pun intended).
Join me for one final romp. It’s time for atonement…

Probably the most exciting piece of news to come out of the casting leak is that Game of Thrones is hunting for someone to play the role of an infamous pirate this year. Though the parts are unnamed for security reasons, the description leaves little mystery in our minds- it’s a perfect description of Theon’s uncle Euron Greyjoy from the A Song of Ice and Fire novels. From our casting post:
Pirate, man in his 40’s to late 50’s. He’s “an infamous pirate who has terrorized seas all around the world. Cunning, ruthless, with a touch of madness.”
He’s a dangerous-looking man. A very good part this season.
A source tells us the original casting breakdown also mentions the pirate has “huge charisma and power” which says Euron for sure to us, as opposed to other pirates from the novels such as Euron’s brother Victarion.
With that in mind, we’re going to focus on Euron for our casting speculation post this week.
