Announced in March, we have a full slate of gorgeous new Game of Thrones books to look forward to this year, long after the final moments of our favorite show have hit the air. Insight Editions and HBO have four books planned that offer a look at the creation of the series, including:
Game of Thrones: The Storyboards (Spring 2019, $60), by William Simpson, lead storyboard artist
The Art of Game of Thrones (Fall 2019, $75.00)
The Photography of Game of Thrones (Fall 2019, $75.00), by Helen Sloan, principal unit photographer
Game of Thrones: The Costumes (Fall 2019, $75.00) by costume designer Michele Clapton
Visit our original post for the full details on each one. Today, we’re focusing on one in particular- Game of Thrones: The Storyboards, because we have a special treat for our readers! We have an exclusive look at two pages from the new book, sketching out Arya, Sansa and Littlefinger at the Tourney of the Hand, as they see Ser Hugh of the Vale (and Littlefinger plots), in season 1’s “Cripples, Bastards, and Broken Things.”
Artist William Simpson does a great job of capturing the characters, and it’s interesting to see the little differences from conception to the final version. The book is sure to be filled with curious details throughout and it’s going to be fun to pore through when the time comes.
UPDATE:
Game of Thrones: The Storyboards is available for pre-order now! Click here to be one of the first to get your hands on it!
It looks like a really expensive coloring book. š Seriously though, I’m thinking I’ll eventually end up with all of them. (and maybe buy two of this one so I can color in one) š
These are so amazing. Yes, GoT is not done sucking my paycheck out from under me, yet!
Looks like Jeyne Pool was originally included
This is gorgeous, but Iām holding out for photos and costumes. Although like Clob, Iām probably going to wind up with all of them eventually!
They could have at least tried to make Littlefinger a bit creepy looking. ššš
Seriously though, these books are going to be brilliant, I can’t wait!
That’s okay. I’m fasting. 72 hours until Oreos arrive.
Who needs storyboards, when I can wear my own mementos around my waistline?
Think I’m gonna need a breastplate stretcher though.
š it’s all #ForTheThrone
Just slightly on topic…
I hadn’t thought about it for a couple months so I was just browsing The Witcher reddit on that show. I didn’t realize filming had started and there are a bunch of pap photos. I really want that show to be good and am counting it to be one of the shows to help post-GoT. What is seen in the photos isn’t all that reassuring to me though. Set, costume and even crew and equipment appears a little low-budget-y. I guess that’s how I’m relating it to this thread and feeling appreciation for everything they’ve put into this show!
