I kinda want them all, but I’m inclined to start with Helen’s photography book and the costumes one for starters!

I wonder how much a box set will be.

Would make a great holiday gift considering 3 of the 4 are releasing in the Fall.

  2. With my luck, the Storyboards book will come out the day after the finale. ;_(

But you can bet all the gold and silver in the Iron Bank’s vaults I’ll buy a copy asap.

  3. Catspaw Assassin:

What’s wrong with that? If it includes storyboards from Season 8 they won’t release it before the finale.

  4. Besides giving us amazing shows, HBO was pretty cool in that we didn’t get bombarded with commercialization of the experience. The new owners seem more and more like they’re pulling a Disney on us.

  5. Luka Nieto:
I’m getting two of these at least, for sure!

Now we’re talking! These books are the kinds of things an ardent fan must have.

Not that I’m judging anyone who buys “official”, licensed merchandise, e.g., beer, sneakers, wine or bobbleheads with a GoT logo slapped on…

  6. By the way… Is that artist who was making the “Beautiful Death” posters after each episode still doing that? I forgot his name… it’s been so long since the last episode.

  7. See now these are something I’m interested in. They’ll be gorgeous, especially the costumes! I will also be putting out my book: “Mediocre Crayon Drawings of Westeros”, which will feature googly eyed character likenesses and one-dimensional representation of scenery that may not be the most recognizable.

    I’d buy that too! 😄

  9. They all look like they will be fabulous.

Helen takes great photos. The costumes are wonderful. The art will have some stunning new work. The storyboard will have the story in a different form.

    HBO is doing well….

  10. Olli,

At least these books make sense. It’s the Johnny White Walker Whiskey and the sneakers I have my problems with – and don’t get me started on this make-up line…

  11. Wowie! Wish they were all one giant tome, our bookshelves are full…but the photography one is especially interesting…perhaps they’ll end up online or at the library? xD
But I eventually picked up the huge Hunger Games photography book for an unbelievable <$5 on Amazon, so if the price and reviews are right I might just not be able to say no. x~3

  12. I definitely want the Michele Clapton one, I love the GOT costumes and her analysis on them

    Johanna van Locchum,

I’ve got the Johnnie White Walker Whisky, I got it as a gift for my birthday and i’ll be drinking it as I watch the final episodes of GOT. I really love how you put it in the freezer and the liquid doesn’t melt but “Winter Is Here” comes up on the bottle

  13. While on the topic of HBO books, I have season 1 & 2 book and season 3 & 4 but was never able to find a season 5 & 6 book. Did they just stop making them?

  14. I love seeing the story boards. And Michelle’s consumes have been getting more and more elaborate each season. She could definitely put out a Cersei line or a Dany line for winter. And the stilll photos are always amazing. I don’t really get the adidas. Other than maybe Maisie would have a line if shoes but those would have to be bloody like her final instagram post.

probably, that’s why I won’t buy those 4 books even when they seems to be very interesting (probably going to rent them at my library one time in the future).

I paid my money for the first 2 of the books, and it seems they forgot about the latter seasons. They didn’t finish this project so I’m not going to give them my money before they finish their first project.

So please HBO make Inside HBO game of thrones season 5 and 6, and of course Inside HBO Game of Thrones season 7 and 8. It needs to be next to my collection.

  16. KellieisComing,

Me too. They are beautiful books. I hope we can get the new ones in England. I have ordered the new EW Jon’ s cover and had an email telling me it is out of stock already.😭

  17. kevin1989,

I gotta say, abandoned GoT-related projects like the HBO “Inside Game of Thrones” books you and KellieisComing mentioned (apparently, only S1&2 and S3&4 books were published?) have
given me a new appreciation for GRRM’s struggles to finish the ASOIAF books after starting to write them about 20 -25 years ago.

I’ve noticed that many enthusiastic reviewers who had regularly posted videos or wrote articles since or shortly after the show premiered in 2011, ran out of steam after a few years.

I love Ozzy Man Reviews. I think he started producing his rapid fire episode recap and analysis videos sometime around S4. During the hiatus, he announced he would go back and produce reviews of the earlier seasons’ episodes. I think he made it through S1 and S3 … and recently announced he was not going to produce reviews of S2 episodes.

I used to enjoy ComicGirl19’s videos, which recapped episodes and provided “history and lore” from the books. Her videos were cleverly scripted and carefully edited. Then, after a couple of years, she began filming herself speaking extemporaneously from scribbled notes, seemingly with little preparation, and her commentaries became filled with expletives. I stopped watching.

Maintaining interest in these projects for seven seasons must have been a test of endurance for these folks. Real life intervenes. Other unrelated projects and new ideas distract.

I think it was Wimsey who wrote on this site a few months ago that the GRRM who wrote the first few books decades ago is a different person than the GRRM who’s been trying to grind out the last two books for the past seven years or so. (His excitement when HBO began casting for the pilot ~ 2010 was evident from the entries in his “Live Journal” blog entries. Nowadays, I get the feeling that for George, writing TWOW is more like trying to crank out an overdue term paper rather than a labor of love.) After a quarter century, he may have lost much of the excitement he once had for revisiting the fictional world he created and finishing up the story he started.

    I can’t blame him.

  18. Ten Bears,

True about George, and Ozzy is amazing hopefully he review season 8.

But I think a book like Inside HBO GoT. Is not really a big project like writing the books that George try to do. The books are much much smaller, and it’s more telling what happen instead of writing something new.

I can understand that the books will be smaller because they already explained much what happened in the earlier seasons, we know many things how they make it. So I would say that they should make 1 book for the remaining 4 seasons.

And still they have time to write a massive book(s) that they are going to publish now, those stories could have been told in an inside book.

And I don’t own them anything, they should publish what they want, but many people are waiting for the inside books.

  19. Oh! The storyboards and costumes please! Oh hell, just send them all to me, I’ll figure out where to put them all….

I love that the GOT bottle shows Winter is Coming when its in the freezer – I might just have to get one for that very reason.

Speaking of things GOT – will Funko or Dark Horse ever come out with more action figures? They had a great run (tho the one of Cersei is a crime, that badly needs to be reworked) but the work seems to have disappeared.

  20. kevin1989,

I’ve never seen or heard about “Inside HBO Game of Thrones” books, so I don’t know who writes them or why they only covered S1 – S4.

  21. Carole H:
    KellieisComing,

“…I have ordered the new EW Jon’ s cover and had an email telling me it is out of stock already.😭”

    _________
Say it ain’t so! Nine days ago I ordered the EW with Arya on the cover. I hope I didn’t get a “tough luck” email from EW. They billed my credit card, and I haven’t seen a credit or reversal of the charge. I haven’t received the EW magazine either. 😡

Funko just released a new wave of deluxe Iron Throne pops with Jon, Daenerys, Night King, Tyrion, Cersei. I just grabbed Jon and Night King last week and Daenerys yesterday. The new Emerald City Comic Con exclusive Arya pop is releasing Friday. It’s a shared exclusive with Boxlunch. Funko is also releasing a White Walker on an undead horse pop in June.

Funko also released Varys, Yara, Gendry, Children of the Forest and a Bran in a wheelchair with catspaw dagger a couple months back.

  23. Ten Bears:
    Ten Bears,

Here’s what I was referring to: the posters shown on

    http://beautifuldeath.com/

It looks like the artist did one for every episode from S1e1 through S7e7, so I assume he will do them for S8 as well… and will be quite busy.

I love seeing those each season. Just looking through them all. I think my favourite is Hodor’s one.

It’s weird Jon didn’t get one in S05E10.

  24. Che: I love seeing those each season. Just looking through them all. I think my favourite is Hodor’s one.

It’s weird Jon didn’t get one in S05E10.

Maybe he knew Aegon would come back. They’re all fantastic, but I really love the Hardhome one.

  25. Ten Bears,

They’re pretty cool. With interviews with the cast and crew, look back on some iconic moments, pictures of concept and costume design, history of the Great Houses etc.

The first one was put together by Bryan Cogman and the second by Cat Taylor. Have no clue why they stopped though. I really liked them.

  26. Ten Bears,

They have taken my money too and tell me I may get another cover if available or I can get a refund. Oh and ordered all 4 books on Amazon so something to look forward to after the end 😭🐺👑❄

  27. Carole H,

Well, they sent me a confirmation on March 5th stating that my commemorative GoT issue is “on its way”, but the e-mail had a picture of the Jon Snow cover – not the Arya cover – though the order information contained the correct description.

I’ll tell you what: Since you wanted the Jon Snow cover, if by chance I wind up getting that one instead of Arya, I’ll send it to you. I’ll let you know.

  28. Clob,

Thanks! Glad to see those being released.

Never really cared for the big head ones, but i do have the dany sitting on a dragon that is very nice
