Game of Thrones: The Exhibition opens in London

John Bradley

This year’s touring Game of Thrones: The Exhibition has begun, opening in London with John Bradley on hand as the doors opened. The exhibit will remain open from the 9th until February 12th and then February 15-17,  before moving on to another city.

Bradley welcomed the visitors, posed with Thrones cosplayers on the Iron Throne, and offered his thoughts on season 5:

The quandary going into season five, if anything, is that we know what people like, we know what people expect, so we know that we are going to have to keep them interested in what they like but find ways of surprising them still.

I think people, after watching 40 hours of something, they start to know the formula a bit – or they start to think they know the formula a bit – so we have got to find new and exciting ways of both keeping it familiar and double-crossing them.

As in years past, fans are treated to displays of costumes and props from the show, as well as the interactive aspects like the “Ascend the Wall” VR experience. New items have been added to the exhibition, including pieces used in the forthcoming fifth season such as the fighting gear of the deadly Sand Snakes.

George R.R. Martin’s original plan for Game of Thrones

Yesterday Game of Thrones and A Song of Ice and Fire fans received a glimpse into the future of what might have been, thanks to a tweet from Harper Collins UK.

Harper Collins is the publisher of the ASOIAF books, and yesterday the Twitter account posted the early proposal for a “high fantasy” trilogy featuring the warring houses of Westeros. Martin outlines his thoughts for the entire series- but don’t get too excited as the last paragraph has been blacked out.

The tweet has since been deleted but the information contained is still floating around the internet, reposted on multiple Twitter, Reddit and Tumblr pages.

Though a great deal of the story has changed already, it should be treated as a possible spoiler, so proceed with caution.
