Twitter’s Merciless

minimalistic-funny-twitter-real-blue-bird-eating-4000x2000-wallpaper_wallpaperswa.com_99It really, really is.

And so we come to the Game of Thrones season finale; it’s been an interesting ride this year, and if we’re being honest – thoroughly polarizing.

Don’t take my word for it, however. Take Twitter’s! As per the norm, I, your amiable @Axechucker, went forth unto the Twittersphere and gathered tweets from high and low, near and far, some bearing the #GameOfThrones or the #MothersMercy ‘tags, others simply from the hysterical handful I already know and love.

And so I give you, my beloved unwashed plebes, this year’s final Twitter post!

Before we get into the STORIFY portion, however, I give you my friend Vela’s… er… tribute song to the episode. Here is CERSEI’S SHAME.

Here’s the rest:

Thanks for including me in the recaps, man. It’s been real.

    3. Thank you Axey! Is there anyway we can convince you into writing a review this season? You are always so levelheaded in your Twitter & Happycool projects so I’d love to see your own, unabashed thoughts!

    4. @Axechucker: Your friend Vela actually sings it – which I guess beats my writing both in terms of effort and in speed :). But Lulu’s Mum should not be afraid – I’ll add my own song this week… it’s High Sparrow Channeling George Michael…

And I might add Jaime Lannister channelling James Hetfield

    5. Do these people actually watch the show, or just wait for moments to set up their marginally clever nonsense?

Also, we know exactly what Littlefinger’s doing because he told us. Wait for Stannis and the Boltons to kill each other, and then sweep in with the Vale Knights and take Winterfell. He will then be Warden of the North AND Lord of the Vale. And then, I imagine, he’ll plan to take King’s Landing. One kink in his plan? Sansa got the hell out.

I never understand why people feel the need to knock something because it isn’t something they would do. If you don’t enjoy the tweets, then why are you reading the twitter posts?

    8. Ross,

Most interesting takeaway from that article is this little tidbit on season 6 (first thing I’ve seen in print by D&D on any season 6 storyline):

“In [Cersei’s] mind, Myrcella was taken away from her by Tyrion; she still blames him for Joffrey’s death, and he is directly responsible for Myrcella going to Dorne,” says Benioff. “So in her worldview, both of her children’s deaths are to be laid at his doorstep. This is one more thing to motivate her homicidal hatred of him.”

    9. Axey,

Thanks for this final Twitter Tour!

I have to say: I’ve created Twitter recaps myself and enjoyed recaps from others and I know how time-consuming and eye-ball straining they can be. I have never seen one as good as yours, though!

I love your comments. They not only bind one segment of show response to the next, but they also give you an opportunity to provide us with book information, insights into filming, some often hilarious rejoinders, and other great stuff. And I appreciate that a lot.

Thanks so much for taking on this Mountainous task (yes, you saw what I did there) and I second the motion: write up a review for Season Five!

The North Remembers. Winter Is Coming. Fire and Blood. But NOT For the Watch. 😉

(…and Stella returns to the Land of Lurking)

    10. Again, Lena would have been like a “day” pregnant when they did the filming of the walk at the beginning of October. Pregnancy would not be showing and not the reason.

LOLOLOL!!!!!!!!! Awesome job, Axey, as usual

I am still not clear, though. Did Selyse commit suicide or was she murdered? Cuz really, how could she have hung herself from that big tree without assistance?

It’s the little details I need answers for.

I watch it. I’m just good at keeping one eye on the screen and one eye on my marginally clever nonsense.

    13. THANK YOU AXECHUCKER for doing these hilarious recaps every week! I look forward to them almost as much as the show itself! Do you do this for any other shows?

Yeah that one made me laugh out loud too.

As to your second point, definite suicide. Tall tree for dramatic effect. You’re not supposed to think about the practicalities! 🙂 (Can just imagine her trying and failing to climb the damn tree for hours)

Don’t listen to Grumblestiltskins above, you brought some needed levity and realness to the weekly entertainment. My favorite part of the weeks recaps.

Have a great off season time, Axey. Thanks for all your hard work and will we see you again during spring’/fall/winter to spring again break?

Mine too. This and the written round up. Both take lots of work (especially this), so a big end of season thank you from me.

    18. Thanks Axey for the post, still as entertaining as ever. I must say I was missing your video recaps this season though.

      Clob,

From a vulture interview I read yesterday, one of the reasons for Lena Headey’s body double were her many tattoos. Not too easy to hide in all takes.

Still, while it may sound very inappropriate to ask, did we actually see anything more of Lena Headey than her head?

      Clob,

Why do you care so much? She has every right to her choices.

I don’t care that she used a double. It makes no difference to me. However, for some reason it’s just bugging me that I keep seeing people/articles mentioning her as being pregnant at the time as the possible reason for it. It’s documented that the filming of it was at the beginning of October and Lena said herself she’s due the first week of July. It would be more accurate to say she got pregnant WHILE filming the WoS scene.

Suicide. Yes, her feet are significantly above the ground, but that’s the point of hanging, innit? If you could stand on your tiptoes, you wouldn’t die. You also want the drop to be fast and furious to break the neck straight away, ideally, so that there is little suffering. A horse, especially a tall one, or one of those big rocks kicked over would have done the trick.

Is this post whining about whiners? Are we going for irony, here?
