Carice Van Houten stopped by The Wall Street Journal to discuss her latest film, Race, and share her thoughts on Melisandre’s journey thus far and what she looks forward to next season. In other news, the Game of Thrones sound mixing team, makeup artists and hair stylists recently won at the CAS Awards and Make-Up Artist and Hairstylist Guild Awards, respectively.
Bryan Cogman opens up on controversial Sansa scene
It has been brought to light by Entertainment Weekly that in an audio commentary on the upcoming Game of Thrones season 5 DVD/Blu-ray box set, screenwriter Bryan Cogman offers some explanation on a scene that has proven controversial in fan circles.
This is the first time someone so closely associated with the creation of the show has spoken publicly about the scene.
Commentating on episode 506, “Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken” along with Maisie Williams and Tom Wlaschiha, Bryan gives some very heartfelt words in defense of the scene in which Ramsay rapes Sansa on their wedding night, while Reek is forced to watch:
Looking Forward, Game of Thrones Season 6 Part 2: The Queen of Nothing
Hello again to all ye great and unwavering readers of the Ice and Rock, and thank you for once again joining us at the pixelated version of the mighty Wall.
A man’s name is Oz, and off-season Looking Forward continues on as a man attempts to curb your rabid fanatical appetite while we await even less revealing teasers for the upcoming 6th Season.
Let’s do this proper:
Asshekh kisha jeriki ma som silikes Mirini, ma khaleesies ma tawaka ma n’avvirsaya ishish ma vo khalasaroon, ma vishaferakes akkimiya zhavvorsi, ma, ki Dothraki, Khaleesi Vosi.
Translation to follow, along with a special “thank you” to a certain well-known Game of Thrones linguist.
Unhitch the dragon saddles kiddos… Dany isn’t going anywhere.
Melisandre on Late Night, HBO makes a deal, and more
Carice van Houten made a guest appearance in full Melisandre mode on the most recent episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers.
Last year, Kit Harington as Jon Snow memorably turned up for a dinner party with Meyers, and this time around, a Game of Thrones character joins the Late Night host for a baby shower.
“Maybe stop telling people the night is dark and full of terrors,” Meyers suggests to the priestess.

New interviews with Isaac Hempstead Wright and Natalie Dormer on Season 6
The cast of Game of Thrones are beginning to loosen their tongues (a little) in terms of what we can expect in the newest season this spring.
Isaac Hempstead Wright (Bran Stark) spoke with Loaded saying a lot of storylines will start to come together.
At the NME (New Musical Express) Awards, Wright said:
Guess the Game of Thrones season 6 episode titles!
Editor’s Note: Last year’s guest post and survey, created by WotW reader James Rivers, was a success and so we decided to do it again this year. Please welcome our guest writer and have fun guessing the episode titles! – Sue The Fury
It’s time once again to crowdsource Game of Thrones episode titles.
We ran an identical survey last year, and apparently had a few greenseers among us. Without any episode descriptions available, we collectively guessed the titles of episodes 2, 4 and 8 (“The House of Black and White”; “Sons of the Harpy”; and “Hardhome”) well in advance. We had another episode title correct, but in the wrong place: “Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken” was our top choice for Episode 3, but was used for the controversial Episode 6.
Popular title guesses that went unused on the show last season included “Valonquar” and “A Ghost in Winterfell.” Those could still be used this year, in theory. On the other hand, “Queenmaker” was a common choice and it would seem that’s a title that shall never grace a TV Guide synopsis.
With the books largely behind us, our task will be a bigger challenge this time around. But if you’ve followed the filming reports and the like from Watchers on the Wall, you might have a few good ideas.
It’s pretty simple: Fill in the blanks below. The survey will remain live until February 25th, at noon Eastern Time– or until the first batch of titles leak/are released, whichever happens first. Then we’ll compile the results and see how close everyone came to the mark.
The survey is under the cut!

Ellie Kendrick on the popular Meera-Jon theory and Tom Wlaschiha talks Jaqen
Digital Spy recently spoke with Ellie Kendrick, who we now know is set to return as Meera Reed in Game of Thrones season 6. During the interview, Ellie was aked about her own thoughts on the theory that Meera and Jon Snow are curly-haired siblings:
I genuinely don’t have any idea as we don’t get told anything! But, I don’t know. I think people might just be thinking that because we’ve both got curly hair. In the books, our characters are described quite differently.
A Murder of Crows: Teasing season six
December 3 and February 14 are two dates that Game of Thrones fans should have indelibly etched into their collective consciousness: these are the days that HBO dropped the first two teases of the show’s highly anticipated sixth season onto the Sullied and Unsullied world.
We convened an original powwow at the Wall two months ago, after that first sneak peek, to gather some real-time reactions, then we stuffed those scrolls in a time capsule and buried them in the icy depths of the Wall to await future HBO proclamations. Now that the other shoe has dropped – just to mix anachronistic metaphors here – it’s time to dig ‘em up, add on the latest insights and reactions, and package ‘em all together for your reading pleasure.
Look into the past and the future, we shall – just like a certain Brandon Stark, yes?
