Montegrappa Introduces New Series of Limited Edition Iron Throne Pens!

Game of Thrones Montegrappa pens

Earlier this year Montegrappa announced their inaugural line of Game of Thrones-themed luxury pens, representing four Great Houses of Game of Thrones: Stark, Lannister, Targaryen and Baratheon. Now the famed creator of unique writing instruments has teamed up with HBO once again to bring something beautiful and highly desired to Game of Thrones fans everywhere: the Iron Throne.

The Iron Throne pen, that is. Montegrappa has created a new luxurious series of limited edition Iron Throne pens, inspired by the coveted seat itself. As HBO explains:

Montegrappa’s artisans have fashioned a cap formed of overlapping swords representing the seven kingdoms. Their hilts rise above the cap’s top to create a crown, the pommels and blades running the length of the cap itself. Standing proud is a sword that serves as the pocket clip, its hilt bearing a fiery red ruby.

At the cap’s top, surrounded by the swords’ hilts, is the Game of Thrones logo. Along the pen’s barrel, artwork in die-cast, polished and burnished precious metal represents the saga through symbols evocative of the houses, from dragons to stags. Details of the pen are enriched with Flaming White celluloid.

The Iron Throne Pen is a highly collectible piece, limited to a run of 300 fountain pens and 300 rollerball pens in Sterling Silver.

For the fans with deeper pockets and a passion for the ultimate in writing instruments, seven fountain and rollerball pens have been cast in solid 18k gold, with the number seven representing the number of kingdoms in Westeros. If you’re leaning toward the fountain pen, know that it’s piston fed, with the nib traditionally made in 18k gold, and engraved with the image of the throne itself. It’s worthy of the Lannister queen herself (although she’d probably scratch the other houses off the pen, but I digress).

  1. So, so pretty. When I take over the world I’ll claim one of these along with that dragon chain.

  2. Well the pens do look lovely but on my budget I’ll have to stick to Bics (an economic range of ballpoint pens in the UK – and maybe other countries, I don’t know).

  3. Uugh, with the expensive repairs I have to have done on my old car, I’m not sure I’ll be able to afford the Bics, nevermind these.

(Bics are a thing the world over, and actually a modern design classic. Saw a nice documentary about it a while back.)
