‘Game of Thrones: The Complete Collection’ & Season 8 Blu-Ray sets arrive this year!

Game of Thrones Complete Collection

It was inevitably coming once Game of Thrones was over: a collection of the entire show on Blu-Ray and DVD. But there’s more to it than that. Housed in a stunning wooden shadow box illustrated by Robert Ball, of ‘Beautiful Deaths’ fame, the Complete Collection includes a never-before-seen reunion of the cast, past and present, hosted by Conan O’Brien. You will be able to get it on December 3! And there’s more!

Naturally, season eight will be released on its own as well in the complete collection. Out the same day, you may get Season 8 on DVD or Blu-ray, and the Steelbook Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD versions. Additionally, Game of Thrones: The Complete Series will also be available on DVD and Blu-ray without the collectible packaging, with this cover:

As mentioned, the ultra-premium, limited-edition Complete Collection Blu-ray set features ‘Game of Thrones: Reunion Special’, a two-part reunion show with cast members from the final season including Kit Harington, Emilia Clarke, Sophie Turner and more, as well as previously departed fan-favorites like Sean Bean, Jason Momoa, Mark Addy and others. Hosted by Emmy-award winning host Conan O’Brien, the reunion was shot in front of a live audience in Belfast and includes segments of footage from both the show and behind-the-scenes. Here’s a pretty hilarious clip of the special:

Additional bonus content includes all-new deleted and extended scenes, animated histories and lore pieces, fascinating behind-the-scene featurettes, audio commentaries and the documentary Game of Thrones: The Last Watch, by filmmaker Jeanie Finlay, first aired on HBO after the end of the season, featured here on DVD in two parts.

Robert Ball’s artistic contribution to the package summarizes the Game of Thrones story: each season is represented by a different layer, showcasing iconic characters and memorable moments from the show, all clambering toward the Iron Throne. The set also contains a “Hand of the King” pin clasp, which holds all nine custom plated disc sleeves. You can preview an unboxing of the set here.

Game of Thrones: The Complete Collection and Game of Thrones: The Complete Series on Blu-ray Bonus Features Include:

  • Game of Thrones: Reunion Special: A reunion show shot live in Belfast with the cast, both past and present, hosted by Conan O’Brien and available exclusively on these complete series collections. The reunion special is assembled in segments focused on Houses Lannister, Stark, & Targaryen and concludes with the key players all onstage for their final reflections on the years they shared in Westeros and Essos.
  • Bonus content and retail exclusive videos from previously released individual season box sets, totaling more than 15 hours of extra materials for fans to explore when they’ve finished watching the series.
Complete Series and Season 8 formats also exclusively feature:
  • Game of Thrones: The Last Watch: A documentary featured on DVD in two parts by filmmaker Jeanie Finlay chronicling the making of the final season.
  • When Winter Falls: Exclusive 30-minute featurette with showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, along with major stars and behind-the-scenes players, breaking down all that went into the colossal filming of the “Battle of Winterfell” in Season 8, Episode 3.
  • Duty is the Death of Love: A compelling look at how the team behind Game of Thrones and its major stars, including Kit Harington, Peter Dinklage and Emilia Clarke, brought the show to its conclusion in the series finale, “The Iron Throne.”
  • Audio Commentaries: 10 Audio Commentaries with cast and crew, including the show’s creators, Benioff and Weiss, on the final season.
  • Deleted and Extended Scenes: 5 never-before-seen deleted or extended scenes from season 8.
  • Histories and Lore: New animated pieces giving the history and background of notable season 8 locations and storylines.

That’s a Christmas gift if I ever saw one. I’m particularly excited about the new season eight documentaries, deleted scenes, and audio commentaries. What about you?

  1. Wolfish,
Amazon has a pre-order page for what they’re calling “collector’s edition” blu-ray, which I’m assuming this is, that they have priced at $249.95

  2. Wait does the Complete Collection feature all of the bonuses listed under “Complete Series and Season 8 formats also exclusively feature” like “When Winter Falls” and “Duty is the Death of Love”?

  3. I will wait 1 or 2 years when the price is lower, bit too pricy for me to buy now, and I’m not the type that can safe that much money without giving it out. but this box will be in my home, probably before the release of winds.

    about winds of winter:
    https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/books/news/winds-of-winter-release-date-george-rr-martin-game-of-thrones-book-song-of-ice-and-fire-a8927431.html

He states that they can imprison him if he didn’t finish the books before next year in July. It’s a bold statement to make, and somehow it gives me hope the books will be out within a year. So winds in 2020 and then to dream in 2030?

  4. And deleted scenes: I’m wondering if one of those scenes is from 8×03, where sansa will use the knife she got from Arya against a wight?
And is there a chance that one deleted scene involved the white walkers? Or Dany’s turn?

  5. I already have the first seven seasons on DVD/Blu-ray. I can’t wait to have the complete set.

  6. I know they won’t include it, but I wish they would add the miscarriage scene Lena shot for season 7 🙁

  7. That complete collection is pretty nice-looking! I think I need it.

But oh my god, that old footage of Kit. Ha! His reaction is pretty great. And how adorable are Maisie, Sophie, and Isaac in those old shots?

  8. I have Series 1-6, but this looks wonderful AND definitive. I’ll probably splash out. BTW, I just purchased the Series 8 soundtrack, It is gorgeous.

  9. Enharmony1625:
….And how adorable are Maisie, Sophie, and Isaac in those old shots?

Yes. Maisie sure is adorable in that old S1 footage.

As for ASNAWP/Maisie Williams news, I posted this update under the prequel article thread; for those who are interested I’ll repost it here (I emphasized in bold the parts that intrigued me):

Maisie Williams stars in new Sky original comedy “Two Weeks To Live” (Working Title)

Emmy Award® nominee Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones) is to star in the latest Sky original, Two Weeks to Live (W/T), a comic tale of love and revenge born from a seemingly harmless prank that goes terribly wrong.

Written by Gaby Hull (Cheat), the six-part series will be produced by Kudos, part of Endemol Shine UK, and revolve around Kim Noakes (Williams), a strange young misfit who was just a little girl when her father died in murky circumstances. Following his death, her mother whisked her away to a remote rural life of seclusion and bizarre survival techniques.

Now all grown up, Kim sets out into the real world for the first time to begin a secret mission of honouring her father’s memory. Meanwhile, socially awkward Nicky isn’t good at impressing girls, and when Kim walks into his and brother Dave’s local pub, it sets in motion a chaotic series of events that puts all their lives in danger. Who would have thought a few drinks and an ill-judged prank could go so violently wrong?
The unlikely trio soon find themselves on the run from a murderous gangster and the police with a massive bag of stolen cash.

But Kim is no ordinary fish out of water – she’s more like a great white shark who knows how to strip a Smith & Weston SDVE pistol in 6 seconds flat, skin a deer to make a sleeping bag, and perform all the routines from Dirty Dancing. With her in their team, they might all just survive….

Maisie Williams said: “Looking forward to getting into something new, I think Two Weeks To Live has really great potential and I want to make something incredible with this wonderful team!”

  10. Deleted and Extended Scenes: 5 never-before-seen deleted or extended scenes from season 8.

    1) Bronn/Jerome Flynn mounts his horse in Kings Landing before heading off to Winterfell, gets violently pushed off by Cersei/Lena Headey.

    2) Bronn/Jerome Flynn again attempts to mount his horse, again gets violently pushed off by Cersei/Lena Headey.

    3) A flustered Bronn/Jerome Flynn again attempts to mount a different horse this time, but once again gets violently pushed off by Cersei/Lena Headey.

    4) An increasingly agitated and very muddy Bronn/Jerome Flynn attempts to mount yet another horse, this time a lovely mare named Daisy, but once again he gets violently pushed off by Cersei/Lena Headey.

    5) Bronn/Jerome Flynn tells Benioff and Weiss that he refuses to film the scene, and in fact refuses to do more than two scenes in season eight, and immediately gets violently pushed into the mud by Cersei/Lena Headey, who loudly and proudly shouts “CUT!”

  11. I have the first seven seasons already on Blu-Ray so I’ll just add S8 and delete them from my Sky box. Good luck to anyone who can afford/is willing to pay the huge amount for the complete edition, I’m sure it will be interesting but I just don’t see it as value for money despite it being my all time favourite TV show.

  12. The packaging is gorgeous. I’ll probably end up buying it (December?!?! Why so farrrr…), so I’m glad I’ve never bought any of the seasons individually. Hopefully the price will decrease by then or there’ll be some way to get a discount. I’m excited for the deleted/extended scenes (expecting to think that most should’ve been left in!), bts features, and commentaries. I especially hope for some “Long Night” deleted scenes, and yeah, the miscarriage one would be awesome. “When Winter Falls” had better be significantly different from “The Long Night Unveiled,” which was only 17 minutes and came with the iTunes copy of the season that I already bought last month.

Trouble is, I’m confused. If you want ALL the bonus material, does that mean you want “The Complete Series” as opposed to the “The Complete Collection” (which is the fancy box?) Why can’t they ever offer just one perfect version of something instead of making you figure out which one you need? -.- Seems odd to me that the one with the fancy package would lack most of the bonus features.

  13. No word on the steelbook cover? I have the steelbooks for all other seasons so it better match the format of the others. But I wonder what location they will use as this season’s theme? No major new locations were introduced in Season 8 (I can’t see them using Last Hearth) and all of the others have already been used. Maybe an Iron Throne theme with the magnet being the Iron Throne itself?

Starting to get worried that they have abandoned the theme though.

  14. This year is a big birthday for me so being out on the 3rd Dec is perfect timing cause it’s my birthday. I have pre ordered and it is a special present to myself. I have also ordered the 4 books about the series, storyboards already received. The amount of money I have spent since 2011 I could have bought a small house.

  15. Ten Bears,

That sounds like a pretty interesting role post-GoT for Maisie, and it sounds cool. I would/will definitely check it out if it makes it over to North America.

It definitely seems that indie or smaller-scale productions attracts Maisie given the number of films and projects she’s worked on in the past aside from GoT that fall into this category. She really values artistry and creativity, which is wonderful to see!

  16. Anyone planning to buy should wait until these sold off are at deeply discounted prices later in the year or early next year.

(Nope, I am not in the target market!)

  17. I’ll stick to watching GoT on HBO On Demand until the price for the collection is reasonable.

Though, I think a hiatus from watching GoT is coming anyway. I need to get away from it for a while and come back in a year or so and do a re-watch all the way through seasons 1-8.

4K edition is steelbook edition in Nordic with same style as previous seasons. And it includes regular Blu-Rays too. So no worries 😀 Magnet is dragon glass. Same editon in USA too and other countries with steelbook.

  19. Bummed that the S8 BR won’t have the reunion show on it ’cause I’m not shelling out that many sheckles for something when I already own 7/8 of it. Hopefully, the Reunion Show will be available somewhere else. 😣

Hope that new show of Masie’s comes to Netflix!

  20. All I care about are the histories and lore and seeing the supposed deleted scene of Nymeria’s wolfpack battling undead Viserion. Not that I’m going to pay a quarter of a thousand dollars for that. It’ll be on Youtube within a few hours.

  21. I don’t know whether they actually created the Nymeria scene or just talked about doing so, but then discarded it (unfortunately…I’m assuming the latter…)

  22. Adam,

I don’t think they ever actually shot that scene. I’m pretty sure it was just talked about and then scrapped.

  23. Mango,

How about you don’t buy it and don’t tell anyone else what to do, i’m sick to death of your arrogant and snobby attitude ! A piece of trash is what you are

Wow, someone needs to take a chill pill lol

  26. I had understood that the regular edition of the Complete Series in Bluray would include the Belfast Reunion, but it seems that special feature is only included in the Special Edition (the one with the Beautiful Death covers), could anyone could conffirm, please?
