  2. I’ve just noticed the episode voting section below. How can I view the results for the last episodes?

I wonder if I am the only person who thinks this season was a bit boring so far except the latest episode. Even as an asoiaf reader I found the endless conversations in small rooms and long talks about history quite tedious. Even John becoming the Lord Commender felt dull.

Anyway there is only one thing I really want to see this season (involving the pit) and I hope they don’t make it disappointingly simple due to budget. That will be enough for me to say season 5 was good, because so far it didn’t really satisfy me.

  3. dragonreborn,

I’m used to shows like Boardwalk Empire and The Wire, so to me this season is by no means slow. In fact, it’s blazing its way through both AFFC and ADWD. If there’s any perceived slowdown I think it’s due to the notoriously dense (and by this point, plodding) source material and the show having to make concessions like merging storylines or stalling ’em (like Bran, the whole Meereen quagmire…)

  4. What if HBO gives us

    R+L=J

to appease the fans but then Martin’s like “ha! fooled you!” and does it differently?

  5. spacechampion,

I wouldn’t complain, honestly. I read somewhere that he was pressed fans had worked some stuff out already and said he was reviewing some of what he had planned out previously.

That sounds super gossipy and I don’t remember where I read it so please take that with a grain of salt haha. I would imagine a great deal of consternation would occur if some things were changed.

  6. Great reviews as always! This was certainly a top episode of the all season, good to see that all the pieces are moving in direction of what will most likely be an explosive finale, can’t wait for episode 6… And speaking of which, does anyone know when the official photos are coming out? It’s suposed to be today right? At least last week it was also on a thursday.

  7. With all the references it certainly seems like we might get a reveal this season.

For mine we dropped the green screen and went over to a friend’s house who has a lot of Game of Thrones memorabilia and a cat named Rhaegar. Everyone drank. It is very boozy and NSFW. (Also some book reader speculation.)

  8. Kam,

That is really good news that we’re having more of Ghost.
But I’m confused, the previous version, wasn’t it a real wolf also?

  9. Joffrey’s Cunt,

No, in season 4 it was computer generated. I think also in season 2 and 3, but apparantely it cost them too much money and they settled for the real wolf instead, which is only good.

  10. Kam,

That is really strange because for Greywind and Summer they also have used real wolves. There’s videos showing how they filmed with them with a green screen.

  11. Cool thing about the wolf news is that it adds another country in which Game of Thrones has been filmed!

    Have I missed any?
    Northern Ireland
Scotland (a few scenes in the pilot)
    Iceland
    Malta
    Croatia
    Morocco
    Spain
    USA (bear pit scene)
    Canada (wolf scene)

  12. dragonreborn:

I wonder if I am the only person who thinks this season was a bit boring so farexcept the latest episode. Even as an asoiaf reader I found the endless conversations in small rooms and long talks about history quite tedious. Even John becoming the Lord Commender felt dull.

I agree, the first 4 episodes were a bit underwhelming, specially number 4, which I blame on the new writer and new directors. Agree wholeheartedly with what you said about Jon becoming Lord Commander it was…really, really dull. Should have been much better.

But episode 5 was fucking fantastic, so I hope episode 6, that has the same director, is on par. And the new writer isn’t writing any more episodes, so I have high hopes for the rest of the season

    Valaquen:
    dragonreborn,

I’m used to shows like Boardwalk Empire and The Wire, so to me this season is by no means slow.

See that he said BORING, not SLOW. It can be fast and boring, slow and captivating, and slow AND boring 😉

    Bex:
    spacechampion,

I wouldn’t complain, honestly. I read somewhere that he was pressed fans had worked some stuff out already and said he was reviewing some of what he had planned out previously.

He actually said the exact opposite; that he would NOT change anything just because some fans had figure it out.

And regarding the case you guys are referring to, he OBVIOUSLY won’t change it. It’s preposterous to think otherwise, when the fact that D&D had figure it out was the reason Martin chose them, as both of them had explain ad nauseam

Really, I don’t know if to cry or to laugh…so I think I rather do the latter 😀

Edit: I think that last idiom doesn’t translate well into English, mmm ^^

  13. “Jorah the Explorer” comment from Ozzy Man got a laugh out of me. Diggin’ his reviews!

  14. Bex,

That’s the opposite of what GRRM has always said. He’s always said that he WON’T change anything, simply because fans may have figured it out.
