HBO has released five new photos from “Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken,” the sixth episode of Game of Thrones season 5.

The episode synopsis: Arya trains. Jorah and Tyrion run into slavers. Trystane and Myrcella make plans. Jaime and Bronn reach their destination. The Sand Snakes attack.

New HQ photos below the cut!

Directed by Jeremy Podeswa and written by Bryan Cogman, the team responsible for last week’s episode, this week features the return of Diana Rigg as Olenna Tyrell.  We can expect a lot of excitement in Dorne this Sunday- after all, the episode is named after the words of House Martell.

  1. Olenna my queen! Can’t wait for this episode. Hopefully the Dorne storyline gets a bit more cohesive.

  2. So the storylines we know are in from the preview and these photos:

    Arya
    Winterfell
    Dorne
    Tyrion/Jorah Roadshow
    King’s Landing

I wonder if there’ll be no Meereen or The Wall in this ep… that would make Sansa the only person in every episode

  3. Another Cogman episode? Sweet. Maybe the Trystane/Myrcella dialogue won’t be so painful after all…

  4. Glad to see Olenna’s back….nice shot of Trystane-takes a real man to carry off pink.

  5. Also, when do we think

the Battle of Winterfell is happening? Episode 10? 9? 8? Season 6?
  6. I guess we won’t see much more of Stannis this season.

Probably will be the following events in the finale

Wall: Hardhome (and Jon returning and getting stabbed as the opening shocker in the first ep of season 6)
KL: Walk of Shame, possible Varys returning
Winterfell: Don’t think we get the battle this season bc of the wall story line, although I don’t think there will be a pink letter in the tv show
Arya: Merci chapter marking the end of her training as assassin
Mereen: Dany mounting Drogon and hopefully the return of some Dothraki; Jorah and Tyrion outside of Mereen
Dorne: I have absolutely no idea.
  7. Mormont:
    Also, when do we think

the Battle of Winterfell is happening? Episode 10? 9? 8? Season 6?

99% its not happening this season.

By the photos released and info we have no “great” battle other than

    Hardhome had been filmed.
All that is certan is that Stannis camp gets attacked (by Ramsey) …
  8. Trystane looks really like a Targaryen.. There’s my last big hope, that he is getting revealed as Aegon Targaryen, sixth of his Name. Would make sense because the show-only-viewers can better identified with him and know better where he belongs too. I am really sure that we get the reveal after the fire and blood speech from Doran.

  9. Mormont:
    Also, when do we think

the Battle of Winterfell is happening? Episode 10? 9? 8? Season 6?

They build it up very much this season, so I guess we’ll see a streamlined version of it in ep. 9/10. Doesn’t really make sense to build up something, get really close to it and leave it for S6.

  10. Hoyti Von Totiy,

Well it’s been referenced continually throughout the season and both sides are preparing for it now in Episode 5 so it structurally has to happen this season unless either 1) Stannis dies beforehand or 2) Winterfell implodes and the Boltons die beforehand.

    Also we know they filmed

a big battle in the snow and I’m not sure Hardhome is a battle

    John,

Hardhome is episode 8 not the finale

  11. I’m sorry, what? You were saying……

*gets totally distracted again by the hot photo of Theon on the right runner*

    swoon – thud!!

(how very high school of me……know what? Don’t care)

  12. Big Mac:
Another Cogman episode? Sweet. Maybe the Trystane/Myrcella dialogue won’t be so painful after all…

    We can only hope.

The Dornish costumes are quite elaborate. Perhaps not among my favorites but they certainly convey a different locale and a different life style.

  13. Mormont,

    Hoyti Von Totiy,

This is something I’ve been curious about as well. I will note that trailers tend to focus on and showcase a few big end of season events (last year it was 408’s RV v. Mountain battle and the battle at the Wall, this year it seems to be 508’s Hardhome and (509? 510?) Daznak) while keeping other major events under wraps (ex. 410’s Bloodraven).

We have seen images of Stannis in the woods somewhere with blood on his face, so I suspect we will get some sort of conflict, but who knows if that will be the battle for Winterfell. Given how much the writing this season has referenced Stannis marching south to “take” Winterfell, it seems like a reasonable end to his S5 arc. GoT has a long history of foreshadowing. Recently, for instance, Grayscale.

That being said, you would think that if there is a major Stannis v. Boltons battle, we would have at least gotten a brief, non-revealing shot in the trailer. In any case, I am very eager to see where his arc ends up.

  14. Mormont:

Tyrion would be in every episode as well so far. Or has he been confirmed to miss some episode?

  15. I see Nell Tiger Free has perfected Cersei’s resentful stank faces too. Excellent!

Keisha Castle-Hughes looks a bit like Daisy Ridley from SW: The Force Awakens in that picture.

  16. Mormont:
So the storylines we know are in from the preview and these photos:

    King’s Landing

I wonder if there’ll be no Meereen or The Wall in this ep… that would make Sansa the only person in every episode

I agree with this assessment, with the caveat that Tyrion will have appeared in all six episodes to date as well. So far, the only main characters who have appeared in every episode are Tyrion, Sansa, Jon, Sam, and Stannis. If we’re including recurring characters, then Olly and – perhaps surprisingly to some – Edd have appeared in all five episodes as well.

It seems virtually certain that Stannis will not appear this week, and I would be very surprised if we got any scenes at the Wall after all the focus it received in the previous episode (ditto for Meereen). So after this week, Tyrion and Sansa will indeed be the only characters who have appeared in every episode this season.

*Show speculation based on casting and filming news below*

Both Tyrion and Sansa actually have a good chance to appear in all 10 episodes this year – the first time since Season 2 (Tyrion) that’s happened for any character. Sansa is confirmed for Episodes 7 and 8 by the synopses, and Winterfell is confirmed for at least one of the David Nutter episodes (if not both) thanks to the CVs of Charlotte Hope (Myranda) and at least two actors who will be playing Bolton soldiers. Tyrion is confirmed for Episode 9 by set photos and almost certainly isn’t sitting out the finale, so that just leaves 7 and 8 – both which are likely to be necessary to facilitate his initial meeting with Daenerys (likely at the training grounds for the fighting pits that we see in the trailers)! So I would guess that there is a very strong chance that Tyrion will be in all 10 episodes. Sansa, meanwhile, will definitely be in at least 9 episodes – and possibly all 10 as well.
  17. I look forward to Jorah opening up more to Tyrion now, as that photo suggests. I wonder if he’ll inquire about his brother’s missing hand, and ask how that worked out for him, if it was easy to take off, etc.

With the Dornish action if Bronn is going down this might be the episode he does. I hope he just ends up in jail as with the long ago leaked script.

Oleanna vs Cersei will be good, but even better will be her vs. the High Sparrow and Littlefinger, because she/they can match wits. I guess Littlefinger will want her to move against the people who destroyed his brothel, but Oleanna will be afraid for her grandson. Cue conflicts and the line from the first trailer to Littlefinger, “They won’t even find what’s left of you.”

I think no battle this season. And Shireen going down somehow, it’s been foreshadowed so much. Either killed during a raid or sacrificed when Stannis’ back is turned. Then just when Stannis is going to unleash hell on the Boltons, winter comes and throws everything in disarray, and they don’t have to pay for another battle.

  18. How jarring will it be if the vivid paradise that is Dorne is immediately followed by a hellishly dark scene up at Winterfell?

    Seriously, these locations look spectacular.

  19. peez,

Literally nothing suggests she won’t be. It’s clear that when she appears in an episode this season, she will have longer scenes.

  20. One wonders what kind of warrior Ramsay is. I mean if he will be part of a big battle. We have only seen him in hunting scenes with dogs and briefly bur not so elaborately in that Yara saves Theon scene.

  21. I hope Trystane and Myrcella don’t act like barbies, because they sure look like them.

Jorah and Tyrion, LOVE this photo. 😀

  22. dothrakian raven,

I’m sure he’ll fight like a berserker if he really gets stuck in. Ferocious, and wreckless – but then, that scene with Yara featured Ramsay Snow. Ramsay Bolton might avoid the frontlines altogether, seeing himself as too valuable a target.

  23. Hoyti Von Totiy,

Bite your tongue. Curly-haired men are inherently superior. And that chest hair.. unf.

Arienne/Quentyn who? Gimme some of dat Dornish red. Watch me bow, bend and break.

  24. mau,

I guess this might mean that Stannis with blood on his face will have something to do with this, I expect they will have an encounter with the Ironborn, like a small version of deepwood motte or something.

  25. Joffrey’s Cunt:
    mau,

I guess this might mean that Stannis with blood on his face will have something to do with this, I expect they will have an encounter with the Ironborn, like a small version of deepwood motte or something.

I don’t think so. I think she will surender without a battle, for Stannis’s suport against Euron in S6.

And she hates Ramsey because he humiliated her in S4. Maybe that’s the reason she lost at Kingsmoot in the show.

Stannis didn’t mention that he wants to take DM in the show.

  26. Pigeon,

I saw Nell Free Tiger at an episode of Young Inspector Morse. It’s a british crime series. She had a fairly big part in that episode and she was very, very good. She played a teenager at a boarding school but her performance was not only convincing but paid attention to all kinds of details without the least sign of mannerism.
In the same series Anton Lesser plays a rather boring and dull Chief Superintendent. He is good but because of the type of roll he has in it he is not so remarcable. What a huge difference with his Qyburn!

  27. mau,

That if they mention Euron at all, I would love it but still can’t see that coming… I’m pretty sure the “Stannis finds trouble on the road” summary will have to do with this, and we’ve seen him with blood on his face so there will probably be a battle scene, and I don’t see it being the battle of ice this early so I’m 90% this will be it.

  28. Joffrey’s Cunt,

It can be, but it didn’t have any build-up.

He didn’t mention DM in 5 episodes. Stannis won’t be in E6, so they will just have battle in E7 out of nowhere?

    I’m not sure.

Sam mentioned Oldtown. So he will go there 99%. And Euron will attack Oldtown in TWOW and in S6 I’m sure.

Boltons need to die this season and the show needs new villains.

  29. Felt Pelt,

One of those promos showed Littlefinger talking to Olenna about how “The past is the past. The future is all that’s worth discussing”, in a rather menacing manner. I’m guessing he’s telling her that he’s either terminating their alliance or seeking a serious renegotiation of the terms.

    Jared,

I’m still surprised that Lena won’t be in all ten. I was sure she’d hit that mark again this year, given how big her story in AFFC/ADWD is and the showrunners’ love for King’s Landing.

  30. I don’t have high expectations for the Myrcella-Trystane scenes. Hopefully they are short and to the point.

We get it, they love each other and want to be together, but neither family wants that, unless Doran’s big plan is to crown Myrcella, which I hope isn’t the case.
  31. Joffrey’s Cunt:

    That summary was false.

    This is the real one:

    Stannis (Stephen Dillane) remains stubborn.

  32. mau,

I disagree that the show needs new villains. The Boltons are finally starting to be more fleshed out as characters. We already lost Joffrey and Tywin last season. We need villains with staying power. As much as I love Stannis, I’m sort of hoping for a big twist in the show and books regarding the battle of Winterfell.

  33. Tyrion Pimpslap,

We saw everything we need to see from Ramsey. It his time to die.

I don’t see what new he can bring to the story.

But even if the Boltons win, I’m now sure we will see Euron in S6.

  34. mau,

If the Boltons die, then there are no remaining obstacles in the North. I want them to be alive for when the White Walkers finally march south.

  35. mau,

I would say it’s not going to be a particulary big battle but more of a massacre by Stannis army on the ironborn, probably a small scene like when he smashed Mance Rayder, only this time we will probably see him kicking some ass.

As for the Boltons, They are really building them up this season as the big villains, I don’t really think they will die now, there hasn’t been any build up for the battle of ice and for something that big would have shown at least a few fight scenes in the trailer. I guess it will happen in the begining of season 6, that would be an explosive way starting a season. And one can only hope the Boltons are defeated, and Euron makes an appearance.

  36. Tyrion Pimpslap:
    mau,

If the Boltons die, then there are no remaining obstacles in the North. I want them to be alive for when the White Walkers finally march south.

Hear hear. But I’d rather them than Stannis. And I’d really like Roose to take a leech bath.

A Bryan Cogman-penned episode where he monologues to Sansa Stark from the tub about how careful he was not to let on his leeching proclivities around her brother.

  37. Joffrey’s Cunt:

But it doesn’t have any build-up.

Look at the Stone man, at FTW, at R+L=J….

That is the way the show builds up storylines.

I guess it will happen in the begining of season 6, that would be an explosive way starting a season.

That’s incredibly stupid. They will cut the climax from S5, just like GRRM did with ADWD?

I hope that they are smarter than that.

  38. Tyrion Pimpslap,

The heroes on this show/in the books really need to notch a few wins at some point, so it would be nice to see somebody deal with the Boltons rather than leaving them for the ice zombies.

  39. Tyrion Pimpslap:
    mau,

If the Boltons die, then there are no remaining obstacles in the North. I want them to be alive for when the White Walkers finally march south.

In S6 I believe we will see Sansa ruling the North.

GRRM likes to write stories about rulling.

    Ned, Tyrion, Cersei, Jon, Dany,…

    It’s time for Sansa.

  40. Trystane’s chest hair reminds me of my husband when we first met, as freshmen. He’s such a little baby…!

Jorah stop being so handsome. On that note looking forward to Bryan Cogman continuing to improve upon the Tyrion/Jorah relationship (biggest disappointment in the book for me).

  41. Sean C.:
    Tyrion Pimpslap,

The heroes on this show/in the books really need to notch a few wins at some point, so it would be nice to see somebody deal with the Boltons rather than leaving them for the ice zombies.

I agree. If the Boltons win now, who will defeat them?

    WW? Meh…

  42. For such a smart guy, Roose is in a very untenable position. Why doesn’t he at least ask his father in law for backup to protect WF and cash in on that marriage alliance?

  43. Tyrion Pimpslap,

I’m really looking forward to Dorne in this episode. I think in the hands of Cogman and Podewsa, especially if their pairing last week was any indication, we’re in for a treat, and hopefully more viewers will be won over (except for those who will never be won over, because they hated Dorne in the books, and resent its inclusion in this season). I’m also wondering when

Varys will show up there, which in my mind is a matter of “when,” not “if.”

I can’t wait to see The Queen of Thornes, again. Littlefinger isn’t stupid enough to think he will be able to handle her as easily as he did Lysa, but I can’t help but think he may be a little in over his head with Olenna. This may be where we see his hubris really bite him in the ass.

  44. mau,

I don’t think it needs a build-up, it’s an unexpected encounter, otherwise I don’t see where her story will fit in.
As for the climax, we have at least big 4 climax this season, I don’t think it would be stupid but wise to save the battle of Ice for next season.

  45. Sean C.,

There are no heroes, outside of Jon, and GRRM will find a way to deconstruct that trope too. I just don’t see both Boltons dying, and I am starting to believe that Stannis is a goner.

  46. mau,

Here’s an idea, the “good guys” are forced to band together with the “bad guys” to fight the WW.

  47. Joffrey’s Cunt:
    mau,

Every storyline needs climax. They will leave Sansa, Brienne, Stannis, Roose, Ramsey, Yara, Theon on cliffhanger?

I think that would be terrible.

It would be just like the Hobbit and Smaug’s death. They cut that from the second movie where that climax belonged and it felt so rushed in The Battle of the 5 armies.

Big battle in S6 episode 1 doesn’t make any sense.

  48. Tyrion Pimpslap:
    mau,

Here’s an idea, the “good guys” are forced to band together with the “bad guys” to fight the WW.

I think that’s inevitable, at least to some extent. To defeat the WW, enemies will have to band together.

  49. mau,

I understand your point of view, I’m just trying to work this out by logic from what I’ve seen so far, They’ve only mention too big action scenes, being Daznak’s and Hardhome so that’s why I don’t believe the battle of ice will happen this season, despite the fact I would like it to happen. Unless they do the same George did, by not showing what happened, and end with the cliffhanger of the pink letter

  50. mau: Every storyline needs climax.

Their big setpieces are Hardhome and Daznak. Something could still be hidden a la skeleton party from last year, but it’s just too easy for them to follow the books and save any battle in the north for the next year. Cliffhangers will be Theon absconding with Sansa for Stannis, Brienne and The North Rememberers up to tricks in Winterfell’s crypts, and winter coming and postponing a definite outcome to the battle.

A climax will come in Theon being someone other than Reek, I bet, and Sansa being something other than endlessly tortured.

Also: it really seems like we’ll get a reveal on R + L = J this year in episode 9.

  51. Joffrey’s Cunt,

Yes I know, that we didn’t have many proofs that battle will happen this season, but it makes sense to happen.

We didn’t have any proof of Kevan’s return, of Yara’s return, of Oldtown, of Sansa in WF (before trailer)…

Maybe that battle won’t be real battle. Maybe something will happen before the battle. Something that will decide the winner before the fight.

  52. Some people here are mixing up the prospective

Battle of Ice and a Battle of Winterfell. The Battle of Ice that is about to happen at the beginning of The Winds of Winter isn’t in Winterfell, and even if Stannis wins the battle he will not have the castle yet.
That established, the Battle of Winterfell itself (if there is a proper battle at all) will be in season six, but we’ll get an equivalent of the Battle of Ice this season, except simpler —no frozen lake traps, no Manderlys or Freys; just Ramsay vs Stannis.

And we HAVE glimpsed it. There has been footage of a military camp on fire (which can only be the Baratheon camp), and of Stannis with blood on his face. So, as was set up in “Kill the Boy”, Roose will use Ramsay —he will send him out to surprise Stannis, instead of waiting for him to siege the castle. Just as Stannis’ surprise attack at the Wall, it will be a surprise to the audience, hence why we’ve seen so little of it in the trailers. But we’ve seen SOME of it.

  53. Luka Nieto,

Yeah you’re right, They are two different things, I just think it’s odd we didn’t catch any glimpse of it from the trailers, unless it’s going to be a small fight scene or offscreen, leaving the cliffhanger with some version of the pink letter.

  54. peez,

The fact that she has only appeared in 2 of 5 episodes, yet she is 6th in total screen time suggests that her scenes are longer than most.

  55. Luka Nieto,

They combined many battles in one in S4E9.

I think that Ramsey and (maybe) Stannis will die in the battle, and then Roose will be killed by “The North remembers” people inside the WF.

So, if Stannis dies, Sansa and LF will rule the North in S6.

Even if Stannis wins, we will see power struggles between Stannis and Sansa/LF in the North in S6.

The Boltons served their purpose. I just don’t see what they can bring to this story any more.

  56. peez,

Literally nothing? What about… you know, her appearances thus far? She’s only been in two episodes out of five so far, yet she’s still one of the characters with most screen-time this season. Episodes two and three have an immense focus on Arya. In fact, even though episode two is named after her storyline, I was surprised to see she had even more screen-time and plot in the next episode.

    Joffrey’s Cunt,

    We have.

The Baratheon camp on fire. Stannis with blood on his face. They’ll be attacked. In episode five, Ramsay has just pledged to help his father however he asks. I’m pretty sure Roose will ask him to surprise Stannis on his march.
  57. Luka Nieto,

Maybe. Though I still think Brienne will have something to do with Stannis as well. She namechecked him way too often over the seasons.

  58. Mr Fixit:
    Luka Nieto,

Maybe. Though I still think Brienne will have something to do with Stannis as well. She namechecked him way too often over the seasons.

Carice van Houten said on twitter that she had scene with Gwendoline Christie.

  59. Tyrion Pimpslap:
Here’s an idea, the “good guys” are forced to band together with the “bad guys” to fight the WW.

Oh, I hope not. Once obsidian levels the playing field (or serves as a deterrent), the 7 kingdom inter-hate shall continue as robustly as ever. Hopefully dragons and CotF play a part in WW management too. And let’s root for Sam the Slayer to rekindle the magic that keeps the Wall standing!

  60. Greenjones,

More Doran, please! I guess the show will only refer to Nymeria as ‘Nym’. They wouldn’t want to confuse the people who remember that Arya’s Direwolf was named Nymeria. I’m almost surprised that they didn’t rename Jon Arryn so as not to have people confuse him with Jon Snow.

  61. Areo’s crew look sexy and badass.

Don’t think Yara will pop up in Stannis storyline the same way she did in the books for 2 reasons, the circumstances are absent and Carice Van Houten said she had scenes with Gwendoline Chrisite. So Brienne is most likely taking her role.

  62. Hodor’s Bastard,

Not to be argumentative, but how would dragonglass level the playing field when it only works on the WW and not on the zombies they’ve created. Humans will still have to fight them and they’re very strong, unfeeling and impervious to anything except beheading and/or fire, right? So yeah, dragonglass will help but it won’t level the playing field. Now, dragons, THEY are a field leveler!

  63. Yung Wolf,

Where did you hear this info from? Maybe there is hope for Euron next season if they have her appear in episode 10 to set up next season.

  64. The Tyrion and Jorah bro-moment looks awesome! Looking forward to that. And nice, sunny Dorne, after all the drab bleakness of the North.

  65. Dame Pasty,

Ok…a partial leveler then. But note that dragons were not a factor when the WWs were pushed back the first time. What did Brandon the Builder (and the CotF) know? Sam will uncover something that will serve as a deterrent…possibly something hiding in plain sight…

I don’t see the mindless wights as an absolute threat. This is not going to be a Walking Dead endgame.

  66. Dame Pasty,

Agreed, i mean obsidian is great and all, but how many WW is there likely to be really ?
And when you add into it that a fair portion of the human army is likely to end up joining the army of the dead being more of a problem, but yeah the dragons are definately a field leveler or quite possible a field destroyer 🙂 I for one am looking forward to seeing a few undead unsullied 😀

  67. Greenjones:
    http://metronews.ca/news/calgary/1368150/game-of-thrones-casts-calgary-wolf-in-direwolf-role/

That adds Canada to the list of countries GoT has shot in.

    Great catch!

“In the first one (episode), he [Ghost] was in a courtyard with Jon Snow,” Simpson recalled. “In the seventh one, he was doing a lot of snarling and attack stuff.”

This is interesting. We know Hardhome is in episode 8. What ‘snarling’ and ‘attack stuff’ could there be in Ep. 7? I’m willing to chalk this up to the guy’s mistake.

  68. It would be a waste for Stannis to go this season. Surely the books/show would want to get into Stannis in KL, how he deals with his ‘nephew’ etc.

  69. Luka Nieto,

Hmmmh. A confrontation at Castle Black in 5×07? Colour me intrigued. Though I’m still not sure about this… doesn’t really fit with what we know.

  70. Hodor’s Bastard,

While we can agree it won’t be a WD remake, the wights are not easy to kill by any means. So it’s not like if you get rid of a WW you kill all the wights associated with them….or maybe that is it? Sam will find out that if you kill the WW you stop all the wights they’ve animated. Howzat for an idea! On second thought, that would be too easy a resolution and GRRM doesn’t make anything easy.

  71. Dame Pasty,

Can wights reanimate south of the wall? I know they’ve reanimated at CB, but can they reanimate at Mole’s Town? Why isn’t that whole town wightified? Something limits them.

I do like your idea of a controller WW for a group of wights. 🙂

  72. dothrakian raven,

Ahhhh! Morse, Lewis, and Endeavour are easily 3 of my favourite shows (I think that Shaun Evans has really done well). I did see that episode, and I agree she was good. I will just be sorry if they make those 2 into pretty young dull things, ya know? 🙂

  73. I have to say, I’m surprised people keep thinking we’re going to see the Iron Islands storyline or that Trystane Martell is really Aegon. Isn’t it rather obvious by now that both of those stories have been eradicated?

  74. Dame Pasty: So it’s not like if you get rid of a WW you kill all the wights associated with them….or maybe that is it? Sam will find out that if you kill the WW you stop all the wights they’ve animated. Howzat for an idea!

isn’t that similar to what Robert Jordan did in “The Wheel of Time”, didn’t mass groups of trollocs have a controlling entity that if you killed destroyed them along with it ?

  75. I love the pic of Jorah & Tyrion. I hope Jorah befriends Tyrion and they get along from here on out. I believe they would complement each other so well.

  76. Iain Glen is a sexy beast.

Oh gods, Sansa ‘ruling’ the North would be scarier than being set out on an ice floe with White Walker and a toothpick.

  77. Pigeon,

In my opinion Endeavour ( I love the detailed work they put in it in all levels) is far better than the other two. And I could easily think of Shaun as part of the GOT in the future.

  78. dothrakian raven,

I understood the concern of ANYONE other than John Thaw playing Morse, but SE has this quiet vulnerability that is perfect. The eyes have it. A lot going on in that character’s mind! Of course Roger Allam is great as well, and I hope…….!

  79. The official Game of Thrones youtube channel just posted a SEVEN MINUTE video on new locations and characters: mostly Dorne, also High Sparrow and Braavos.

I think they were holding off on posting this before because episode six is when we actually devote a significant chunk of time to finally focusing on the Martells.

  80. Here Be Dragons:
Hmm … I think Trystane over-spent at “Tralalalaleday”

Haha! XD Have to respect the costume designs and weaponry made for the show though. The details are pretty amazing. That snake sword Trystane is carrying looks badass and I would totally buy a replica.

  81. Yara potentially being back could throw up some interesting scenarios. I imagine she’ll have to have some interaction with Stannis and/or the Boltons. Wonder if that lazy last leech will finally get it’s act together. Perhaps Yara will strike a deal with Stannis on hearing of her fathers death to bring the Iron Islands to his cause only when she heads home to take the throne, Euron is already there and in control. Either way , the Iron Islands attacking The Reach and Oldtown would be interesting. Hoping for Euron next season as I think the show could do with more antaognists and he’s made for TV but I still think it’s a longshot.
I don’t think the battle at Winterfell will be this season. They’ve jsut got the Boltons to where they should be as characters so I’d like to enjoy them for a bit longer.
Also got hope that Trystane and Dorne will act as a proxy for Young Griff and his faction. Would be a good way of streamlining, keeping Dorne relevant and stopping Dany’s march on the throne seeming so inevitable.

  82. Dame Pasty,

Not to mention how hard it would be to actually penetrate a WW with the dragonglass. They are insanely good at fighting. Some of them have armor too.

  83. Cameryn,

No. With respect to Trystane, yes, since the show has actively replaced numerous factors in that storyline (no Arianne, no Quentyn, Jorah getting greyscale, etc.). But with respect to the II, we still don’t know what purpose those characters serve, and it doesn’t seem like anything else has been set up to do what Euron or Victarion are going to do. So it seems at the least not UNreasonable to anticipate them in s6.

  84. Greenjones,

Great link, thanks. I can’t wait for more Ghost. I’m hoping Jon will become a warg on the show, so maybe we’ll get a glimpse of him warging Ghost.

  85. Pretty sure Tormund dies this season. I just saw him doing a Motel 6 /Wyndam hotels commercial. 🙁 A man’s gotta work.

  86. **Wyndham

    BranSnow:
Pretty sure Tormund dies this season. I just saw him doing a Motel 6 /Wyndam hotels commercial. A man’s gotta work.

  87. There was behind the scenes footage with Areo practicing swinging an axe right against Jaime or Bronn’s neck.

But did I dream the Bronn in jail talking to Tyene script pages?

I didn’t. I googled their names and found the page. If that is real then Bronn does not get Hotah’d. So my money’s on D&D liking the detail of naming his son Tyrion and keeping him alive for that. And him telling Jaime after their adventure that he wants to keep Lollys.

  88. Felt Pelt,

I saw that same transcript and I feel like it was too horrible to make the cut for the show. I’m hoping it was just for audition purposes.

    But then again, D&D…

  89. Felt Pelt:

There’s a website that’s frequently cited here that spoils nudity in future episodes. Kind of seedy, but it confirms the Bronn-prison scene is in episode 7.

  90. Yung Wolf,

I didn’t feel it was too terrible. I could see Jerome Flynn making those lines sing. It also makes sense if it’s a sex scene. I think the actress who plays Tyene said she had nudity.
  91. Valaquen,

Okay. We’ve solved the mystery then. Bronn lives like a motherfucker!

(Which means all the “I’m getting too old for this shit” foreshadowing is a misdirection to make us think he’ll die.)

  92. Let’s hope that Bronn will have a really a propelry brutal and barbaric death (preferably Areohotahed)! Looking forward to it!

  93. Valaquen,

It also claims that there will be a

Gilly/Sam sex scene and yet another bed scene with Daenerys/Daario

    in it as well.

Not the best source, but who knows.

  94. I’d like to see a show of hands, who thinks Hizdahr is the leader of the Harpies? I guess Daario can’t be a traitor because of the E9 photos we’ve seen. (Someone on reddit made a good case that he is just after her dragons and will take Quentyn’s role from the books).

What cinched it for me that Hizdahr probably is was that still where all the masters are cowering and bowing before the dragons, but they’re pointed both at him and Daenerys standing up.

  95. Intelmaster,

I was thinking the same thing. If the show now is only including the necessary characters to move the story forward- why can’t Trystane be “Aegon”. He would be about the same age the Aegon character would be….and he was a Martell too.

  96. The Dragon Demands,

I’d already seen that video before today. I think it has been on On-Demand for at least a couple of weeks.

(It is possible there may be some new footage toward the end. I only watched about half of it, then realized it was something I’d already watched.)

  97. on another note is there a way to make Obsidian into long blades for swords, or are they limited to breaking it shards for daggers and as arrow heads ?

  98. Roose On The Loose,

Where there is a will, there is a way…

Regarding the wights…I do not believe they are autonomous. Just like the reanimated wights that tried to kill Mormont in S1/GoT…they were directed to kill him (or test Jon). Otherwise, if they were indeed autonomous, they would have just wandered around CB trying to kill anyone.

  99. Yung Wolf:
Let’s all get our bets in…

First off, I don’t believe Jaime & Bronn’s mission will be successful. I don’t even like their mission. Nor do I like Ellaria’s Myrcella threat. (sigh) But with reluctant acceptance…Do you think Bronn will take one for the team and save Jaime, with some touching parting words? If an SS does him in, that would be awful. If Ellaria did him in (surprisingly) that would be a bit of (possibly) ludicrous payback since Oberyn fatally replaced him as Tyrion’s champion.

  100. Roose On The Loose,

If folks could figure out how to make projectile points in this world over 10,000 years ago, some of which were fashioned from obsidian, I’m guessing folks in Westeros could, too. In an archaeology class I took in college, we actually practiced the technique used to make obsidian projectile points. It’s called pressure flaking.

Edit – Shit, sorry, I didn’t read your post closely enough, but, yes, I’d guess long blades could be made, too, although I’d think projectile points would be better. You can keep a greater distance from your opponent.

  101. Roose On The Loose,

Knapping obsdian into something as big as a sword would be tricky, but its definitely not impossible.

I don’t think a full-on obsidian sword would be practical for fighting, though. Obsidian is basically naturally occurring glass, and its almost as easy to break, especially when you work it into something thin like a blade.

They could go with something like a macuahuitl, which is like a cricket bat with obsidian blades embedded in the edges. I don’t know if it would feel very “Westerosi”, though.

  102. Wait, when did Carice von Houten say on Twitter she has scenes with

    Gwendolyn Christie

    ?

Isn’t that a pretty major spolier?

  103. James Rivers,

She didn’t exactly. She answered the question in her Q&A about who was funniest on set-
    https://twitter.com/caricevhouten/status/598546986946711552

“I would say John Bradley @liamcunningham1 and the awesome @lovegwendoline.” Technically they could be around the studios at the same time and not be filming together. But I think it’s pretty damning and that given where Brienne is right now, that we’re likely to see her run into Stannis’s group.
  104. Felt Pelt,

I don’t think it was Tyene in that scene – she has long hair?

    IMDB says

    Lollys

in a later episode, but then IMDB could be full of shit. 😀

  105. Sue the Fury

It’s not definitive, certainly, but Carice Van Houten likes to do a lot of Q&As, so it wouldn’t surprise me if she just accidentally lets a little something slip one time.

  106. Pigeon,

Iain Glen is one of the most handsome men on this earth. And, he brings such depth to the character of Jorah. I love him.

  107. Roose On The Loose: how many WW is there likely to be really ?

How many sons did Craster have?

Mr Fixit: What ‘snarling’ and ‘attack stuff’ could there be in Ep. 7?

Varamyr, new Night’s Watch recruits try to rape Gilly but Ghost saves her.
  108. favor757: Iain Glen is one of the most handsome men on this earth.

Now that Jorah has rabies, he’ll never get any & he’ll never take his shirt off!

  109. Game of Thrones was the #1 on demand show for Comcast two weeks ago. Beat even the big bang theory.

For the fans complaining about the numbers being down for live first time viewers…. Looks like the show is still in a very healthy state.

  110. The wall obviously has magic in it, that keeps the White Walkers in the North. The wall also block the reanimation of corpses on the South side of the wall. If the wall falls and winter spread further and further South then the corpses will be reanimated on the South side as well. The wall has to fall at some stage, and the event is properly not far away.

    Ghost:

Stannis obviously gathered or captured a bunch of the Wildlings after the battle of the wall. Perhaps Jon will let them through the tunnel and settle them in The Gift. Jon would watch over the precedings with Ghost. Varamyr will most likely be among the group, and perhaps he might even tell Jon that he a warg. Episode 7 is named the The Gift. Which refers to Arya, the land The Gift and perhaps the gift or ability of warging. The rest of the Wildlings who got away are obviously at Hardhome, and that will be for episode 8
  111. The Bastard,

As long as horses don’t react in a proper way to Bronn’s attacks (that is taken from a comment in a previous post as part of an argument why S5 sucks) and as long as we have verbose Bolton symposia and boring Brienne of Tarth the show is doomed… It is known

  112. Does anyone else think

Olenna could join Kevan/Pycelle as victims of Varys upon his return to KL
  113. Yara (asha) is going to be in this season! Not ep specific but very happy! Gemma whelans agency confirmed

  114. Khal Tommen,

Varys is going to Dorne, at least that’s my bet, although he could still make it back to KL, I suppose. However, no, I don’t think Varys would kill Olenna. Why do you think he would?
  115. Nymeria Warrior Queen,

I’m really just speculating no real evidence, I thougjt

Olenna would fit the “clean up cerseis mess” role abit better than Kevan in the viewers minds, so that’s why I thought they might use her, however i can see how it might be overkill to have Varys kill Kevan Pycelle AND Olenna
  116. Josh,

On IMDb shes listed as eps 7, 9 and 10. not sure if legit but im excited to see whats in store for the character. I reallyyyy hope Euron is in next season. Hes so cool!

  117. The ppl the bwb hung will turn into wights when winter hits and they’re mostly freys, lannisters and boltons. And they’ll remember unfortunately

  118. I second those who think Iain Glenn is a fine specimen of a man. It makes me sad he’s relegated to Ser Friendzone.

As for the spoiler speculation regarding Tyene:

I think the nude site spoilers are correct and Tyene will poison Bronn, banter seductively with him in the cells and possibly give him an antidote. Maybe she ‘turns’ him to their mission? The shot in a trailer of a naked longer haired woman seems to be a braided bravosi prostitute who is more likely to intersect with the Meryn Trant/Arya storyline.

In terms of possible developments with Stannis, I fear his camp will be ambushed and routed ahead of schedule by Ramsay, Melisandre will have seen something in the fires regarding Jon and be wanting to go back to Castle Black.

    The preview scene where

Selyse is on the snowy ground seems less a collapse while crying/sobbing tragically and more a prone posture because she’s done something bad and been thrown down in front of the soldiers. I wouldn’t put it past her to try to burn Shireen to lift a blizzard due to lack of food, or just want a favourable battle against the Boltons.

I do think that Stannis will end up sieging Winterfell. The Boltons know that their new fort is well stocked, defensible etc. They will not just meekly march out to meet Stannis on an honourable battlefield. It isn’t in their best interests to. They’d be wiser to wait out Stannis’ army, let them experience the cold on meager rations.

  119. mau,

I think (assuming she really is in and that she runs into Stannis) that the Kingsmoot still hasn’t happened yet in the show. I think she will tell Stannis that they can help eachother- she can give him Westeros’s biggest and best fleet if he helps her dethrone Euron (who took the Iron Islands by force) through a Kingsmoot- which is part of the Iron Islands’ law. And I think she will use Theon for it, because generally women can’t be the heirs and she needs Theon in order to demand the Kingsmoot (where she hopes to prove herself to the Ironborn). It’s a bit different from the books, but I think it could make for a great season 6 storyline. The fact that Oldtown seems to be in and that it looks like Euron may go there in the books (as well as be Dany’s first big bad in Westeros) only increases the chance we can still see him. And if we do, I think season 6 will look a bit like this:

Dany: after settling matters in the Slaver’s Bay once and for all (and potentially recruiting some Dothraki), Dany finally heads for Westeros. She first lands in Dorne (probably in the midseason), striking a deal with Doran to (eventually) marry Trystane and in that she gets the Dornish army. Doran suggests that the first thing she should do as queen is save her people, and stop Euron’s raids in Oldtown (and maybe one of the reasons he’ll push for it is that Sarella his niece is also in the middle of that mess). Oldtown would then be the big battle of the season- with dragons and ships and everything that won’t happen in Meereen because of the cuts.

Yara/Theon/Euron: after helping Stannis take Winterfell, he’ll send them off to the Iron Islands. There, they call for a Kingsmoot (which will be Euron’s big introductory scene where he reveals he intends to steal a dragon). After some machinations, Euron takes half of the Iron Fleet and begins ravaging the Reach. Cersei allows Loras to go and fight him back, which leads to a big fight scene between Loras and Euron (and I’m guessing Loras dies). From there, Euron heads for Oldtown and the big final battle (so he’ll appear in around 4-5 episodes before his death). Theon and Yara meanwhile… I have no idea.

Sam: Obviously, Sam would be involved. After stopping by Braavos and leaving in the same ship as Jaqen (since he’s there in the books and it’s all too convenient). He’d learn to be a Maester, interact with Sarella and find some big secret that’ll help in the battle against the White Walkers, or maybe even figure out Jon’s parentage, and he’d also direct Dany to the wintery invasion that Westeros is about to suffer (and I’m guessing it will coincide with the Wall coming down, or whatever the White Walkers’ big opening attack will be).

  120. mau,

Same. I think and hope that the Stannis vs the Boltons situation will be resolved in season 5. And if not, I hope they at least pull the Pink Letter situation and have Stannis fake his death oyside of Winterfell (and duping both Jon, the NW and the viewers into thinking Stannis is dead- which is also sort of a conclusion to that storyline, until it’s revealed Stannis is alive).
  121. I’m really looking forward for Loras’s trial this week because the outcome is very uncertain. I doubt he will be excecuted for homosexuality as I recall it is not considered as a deadly sin in the Faith of the Seven, on the same rank as adultery and bastards fathering, even if Sparrows are extremists. More importantly, I really doubt Olenna and Margaery would let this happen as he is the only heir to Highgarden (Willas & Garlan being cut in the show). Thus, I really believe Loras, Shireen, Trystane, Robin and Yara can’t die on the show as they are the only hope to further their family name. But I forgot that in Shireen’s case Gendry would very well be legitimized (he even embodies the Baratheon traits).

  122. Khal Tommen,

    It’s possible

Varys will not go back to King’s Landing, he’ll head for Dorne to meet with Doran. If that happens, Littlefinger may be the one to kill Pycelle. In this case, Littlefinger may kill Olenna too, given their roles in Joffrey’s death and he can cover his tracks with her dead. I’m not sure Kevan returns to KL, unless it’s for Cersei’s Walk of Shame. He may live on the show and be at Casterly Rock.
  123. jentario,

I agree. I and I think that Dany/Tyrion/Jorah will leave Meereen in S5E10.

Daznak will be Battle of Meereen in the show.

She can unite with the Dothraki in S6, on her road to Westeros. In Volantis maybe?

I also think that Arya will be in Oldtown in S6. We know that there is one FM in Oldtown in AFFC. Arya will take his place.

  124. They better knock the Dorne stuff out of the park in this episode, cause what we have seen so far has made me very anxious. Although I should of saw this coming considering the piss poor job D & D have done with the Greyjoys.

  125. mau,

    I hope Loras

doesn’t end up fighting Frankenmountain, Robert Strong. Loras is a goner, if that happens – but it would be the perfect way to drive Margaery over the edge.

    And if

Littlefinger kills Olenna, and Meryn Trant kills Mace on top of that, Margaery will end up crazier than Cersei. The Tyrells all but eliminated. Maybe Margaery will kill Tommen in revenge?
  126. mau,

Arya going on the mission to Oldtown is an interesting thought, but given that it was Jaqen in the books and that Jaqen has been reintroduced in the show… And Arya has other important things to do in TWOW that don’t involve Oldtown, IMO returning to the Riverlands and dealing justice to the Freys (given that Nymeria is there, and in the books I’m also assuming she meets Stoneheart). Having Arya go to Oldtown means sacrificing everything she is meant to do in the lead-up to the endgame, which I don’t think they’ll do (I think what they’re doing with Sansa and Jaime- scrapping whole storylines and making up new ones- will never happen to show’s central main characters: Arya, Dany, Jon and Tyrion). My bet is on Jaqen, which conveniently allows him to stay in the show even after Arya leaves Braavos.
  127. Felt Pelt,

There’s something fishy about him. I thought so especially after the last episode in his contrasting stance in two different scenes.

  128. Daniela,

See, to me he looks exactly how I’d expect a teenage Prince of Dorne to look. Cocky, handsome, not as cool as he thinks, but still cooler than any boy Myrcella’s encountered.

  129. So what do we think happens with Arya in this episode? The synopsis just says “Arya trains.” and the preview shows her nearing a mysterious door.

Could this be the face room? I was really hoping we’d see it, but it seems a bit early. This could also be where Arya goes blind (because I doubt it’ll happen in the end of the season) or where she becomes Cat of the Canals (though that seems more fitting to the episode 8 description).
  130. jentario,

I think it must be the

‘face’ room, but I don’t think she’ll be using any yet. Possibly getting her ‘Cat’ outfit, possibly even first shot of seeing Meryn and Mace?
  131. Kay,

I do not trust him, too. And it’s oversimplified if he is just a fervent defender of the pits.

  132. Intelmaster,

With dark hair and brown eyes? In what way does he look Targaryen? Everyone knows they’re infamously silver haired with violet/purple eyes. There is literally nothing Targaryen about him.
As far as I’m aware, the Aegon portion of the books have been cut. Which is rubbish if you ask me.
    Intelmaster,

  133. Mr Fixit,

/hugs fellow BSG fan back. Thank you! I loved that show to bits, despite its many flaws. Glad you like my avatar. 😉

Re: The ‘bullies’ cast for Castle Black and possible ep 7 direwolf Ghost appearance

I think ‘Derek’ & ‘Brant’ have been cast for a scene where Gilly gets bullied for being a wildling – due to rising tensions. Sam will come to the rescue and use Ghost to threaten or attack the two men so that they back off. Thus leading to him finally getting to have sex with a very grateful Gilly (as mentioned in that nude scene spoiler).

This is all just speculation based on various bits of spoiler info.

As a mostly show watcher, I’m really not seeing any show indication of Trystane being sent off to Dany or being fAegon. I think it’s more likely Doran wants to make a match between Trystane & Myrcella. Otherwise why keep Myrcella at a Sunspear at all? As a hostage? We’ve seen snippets where it seems pretty clear the two are in love.

There is also that upcoming scene where the two of them are in attendance at the same sit-down meeting with Doran, Ellaria, Hotah and Jaime. They’re sitting side by side. I just am not seeing Doran saying, “sure, Jaime, you can take Myrcella home now, I’ve got other plans for Trystane anyway”, can you?
  134. Succubint,

Doran definitely doesn’t want Trystane to marry Myrcella, otherwise they’d already have married (both of them are old enough in the show and apparently in love). Doran wants Trystane to marry Dany.
  135. Khal Tommen,

If Olenna is killed, I think Flora Linden may have hit on how it will happen, namely

at the hands of Littlefinger. That I could easily see. I’ll definitely be interested to see exactly what Varys does, though…whether he’ll go to Dorne, as I think he will, or if he goes back to King’s Landing (whether he goes to Dorne, or not). Your speculation has gotten me to thinking about all that, though, so thanks!

    Mr Fixit,

    So say we all! 🙂

  136. jentario,

If that were the case, one would assume he’s been working behind the scenes to make that happen. Secret negotiations etc. Except, we just had Dany make a political decision to marry Hizdar in the last episode. Why would she do that if she’s already had an offer from Dorne? It certainly throws a major spanner in the works of Doran’s plan. Makes it look like his secret plan is so secret it’s just a fantasy in his head. Doran is supposed to be politically savvy, so I don’t see how Trystane/Dany makes sense on the show.
  137. Succubint,

Them cutting Quentyn makes his plotting a bit in the fantasy region, yes. But the show has had worse inconsistencies (and we all know Hizdahr won’t last).

Besides, if you cut Doran’s epic speech and reveal (on top of Arianne and Aegon and pretty much everything that happens in Dorne in the books) what’s the point in including the storyline at all? It seems painfully obvious to me that regardless of how much Doran banks on wedding his son to Dany, he’s definitely a huge Targaryen supporter (and probably one of the co-conspirators Varys spoke about).

  138. Dumb question – since Rhaegar chose to run off with a Stark over his own Dornish wife, thus igniting an entire battle….why would the Dornish give a flying fuck about the Targs? Simplistic I know, but that’s always bugged me.

  139. jentario,

I like the idea of him being a big Targaryen supporter. I confess I don’t remember much of the 3 books I read in terms of details – it was so long ago, but I do read sullied speculations based on book events. I am sure D&D will still give Doran a fantastic speech which will reveal his true intentions, no matter what. Just trying to parse out what seems plausible with regard to show cues so far, since the Quentyn/fAegon stuff doesn’t seem to be happening. It’s really hard to speculate based on only what’s aired so far (ignoring Book spoilers), but hopefully this upcoming episode will give us some more clues or at least flesh out the Dorne characters more.

I could see your spec working if Dany actually secretly suspects Hizdar is behind the SoTH events and plans to expose him. Then the ‘wedding’ is more of a sham/trap for him. But otherwise, while we may think Hizdar is soon-to-be toast, there’s nothing yet to indicate that Dany thinks he will die soon.

    Pigeon:

Actually you make a really good point. Why would Doran be a Dany supporter since Elia was basically put aside by Rhaegar and pretty much paid the price for his infidelity.

  140. Pigeon,

I don’t know that the infidelity would bother them as much as manner of her death and who ordered it, possible they see a Targ restoration as the lesser of two evils as opposed to leaving the lannisters in power ? Just a thought

  141. Dame Pasty:
    Flora Linden,

Does it qualify as Resting Bitch Face?

So it’s not just me who thinks Trystane looks ALOT like Jon???? I thought Targaryens had silver hair and purple eyes……….Daenerys and Viserys type. What genetic variation is this……wait…Tyrion’s hair description in the books was a mix of blond and black hair……WHAT’S HAPPENING??????? oh, I know;the plot thickens!!!!!!

  142. honeyimhome,

No, you are not the only one who thinks Jon and Trystane look a lot alike.

Sure, Targs are known for their silver hair and purple eyes, but Targs. and Martells have been marrying for a long time. At least I know Dorne was brought into the 7 kingdoms fold by the union of a Targ. and a Martell. So, while if Trystane is Aegon, he’s Elia’s kid, so could easily have the Martell features, Jon’s features could be due to genes passed down through the Martell side from a few generations before. This could sound very far fetched, but my hair color is non-existent in my family in recent generations. You have to go back to my great grandfather to find it.
  143. Felt Pelt,

How about Ramsey setting Sansa up with the little old lady and “the North remembers” quote? He threw that one at Sansa at dinner. How would he know “the North remembers”? Aaaarrrrgggg……is this the absolutely horrible scene coming???????

  144. honeyimhome,

The blub for episode 507 states that “Brienne waits for a sign”, so I would guess that the old lady’s message was legitimate.
  145. Really great theories! Really looking fwd to how the 2nd half of the season winds up esp w all the great foreshadowing for season 6 (if you’re a book fan and/or greyjoy fan) and I still, officially think dn = ej
