–This contest is now closed–
The Wall can be a cold and unforgiving place, so we Watchers need to find some way to keep ourselves entertained. But, since we can only remember half the words to “The Rains of Castamere” and none of us can play the harp, a good, old-fashioned sing-a-long is out; as is a brief trip to Molestown (too poor), or a foray into the Haunted Forest (too scared).
So instead, we bring you, dear readers, a celebration of you, our black brothers and sisters in arms with a week-long giveaway of some of the finest merchandise in all the realm!
Each day this week, we will be giving away a fabulous prize graciously donated to us from The Noble Collection, which is world-renowned for their high-quality merchandise and prop reproductions.
Today’s prize is their Rhaegal Baby Dragon Sculpture which stands at an adorable 4.5 inches in height, and typically retails for $39.00.
So, what do you have to do to win this little guy? Well, it’s definitely less of a commitment than avowing yourself to a life of celibacy and limited clothing options!
To enter the drawing, comment on this post with which job you’d want on the Wall, AND then fill out the Rafflecoper below! You can select as many of the entry methods as you like, but take note that doing things like liking WotW on Facebook and Twitter or tweeting about the giveaway will give you additional entries into today’s contest.
DRAWING ENDED!
The drawing ends at 11:59 PM EST tonight, so make sure you get your entries in early! And, don’t worry if you don’t win… we’ll be back with another giveaway tomorrow!
I’d want the cook job because usually kitchens are nice and warm.
Builder.
FIrst? First! Just like in the old times before HODOR.
(Oops beaten to it. But I stick with my old-timer’s overture!)
Hmmm let’s see. At the wall I need to be the cook, to be close to the larder during lean winters…
Steward!
I’d want to be the Maester or the cook. I’d settle for steward to the Lord Commander though…
The job I’d want on the wall?
, as part of a move to resurrect the ill-fated and short-lived Crow Air Force that briefly flourished under the eight hundred and nineteenth Lord Commander, Eddard the Eagle.
I would want to be Maester Aemons boy, since i can read and uhm, I guess, thats all the qualities i could offer the watch, since i am more like Sam than Jon body and mindwise.
Ranger. I have a death wish.
Steward for me……. Though I always wanted to be a ranger 🙁
Simply, I’d like to blow the horn. I ve got pretty good sight, and being up on the wall, we’ll be really cool too.
Ranger!
Melisandre’s handmaiden (male).
Steward, but I wouldn’t mind going and trying to become a Maester.
The guy who has to get the ice, I wouldn’t even have to get out of bed.
As a woman I’ll not be allowed in the Wall. But I’d want to work on the kitchens and prepera something good everyday. Just because Three-Finger Hobb is weird.
I consider myself a bit of ranger, fancy myself to be both handy with a bow and a sword
I’d be a Ranger…I’ve always wanted to be a Ranger 🙂
I’d want to help out Maester Aemon. He seems like a good guy to be around and you’d always be involved.
I’d be a cook, probably.
Blacksmith. Since the Battle at Castle Black and the loss of a certain one armed smith someone has to keep making arms and weapons for the black brothers.
I’d be a builder!
Maester. Definitely maester. A female maester.
Me? Easy one:
”Drop the scythe, boys!”
First Ranger!!
I want to be a RANGER!!!!
Put me in charge of the Ravens, keep up with all the correspondence flying back and forth to the Wall.
RANGER!
Ranger
Maester….
Lord Commander Vega!
Scythe Dodger.
I’d like to be a ranger. Failing that a steward.
I would totally be in charge of the scythe 😛
But during my free time you’ll be able to find me either in the kitchen or the library ^^
Jon Snow’s personal hairdresser. Weapon of choice: Valyrian hair dryer.
Maester.
I’d say ranger but definitely end up a steward. 😛
I would want to work as a steward. That way I would only fight when I have to.
Recruiter. Just because I like to travel.
I always wanted to be a wizard.
Oh, they don’t have those on the Wall? Well then, I guess I’m a Ranger.
I’d want to be a steward, think of all those amazing books that Sam wants to read!
I’d want to be a ranger of course!
Builder, i love building things
I would like to take care of the Ravens, feed them and send the messages and be close to Maester Amon :o)
So, a steward!
I’d be the chef. I make a mean soup and I imagine Samwell likes to hang around the kitchens. Alternatively I’d work in the library. With Samwell
These jobs are in no way chosen based on their proximity to Samwell.
Scarecrow
I’d want to take care of all the animals : horses, ravens, direwolves, stray cats.. what do you call it? Vet? Master of Horse. 😉
While I would like to say ranger, I know I would be a builder… probably at East Watch by the Sea, since I currently manage marine construction. Of course, that would never happen because I have a wife.
Wandering crow all the way, Yoren and I cruising the 7 kingdoms (not in that way) drumming up business and taking your prisoners.
Ranger for sure. Would need to make sure to pack my Goretex!
Steward, I’m not ranger material 😛
Head shoveler.
Shoveling is all you end up doing anyway. Might as well be on top.
Ranger
Jon Snows Steward 😉 😉
Librarian – Castle Black needs one.
(If I were a man) I’d love to be maester Aemon’s attendent and feeding the raven and write messages!
I’m a bloody poet.
Lord Commander. Born to lead.
First Ranger -‘cos I’m well hard
I would like to work in the nice warm kitchen.
Being a Maester is probably the most interesting job at the Wall for me.
Methinks perhaps Maester’s Steward or Raven’s Keeper
Also, because I haven’t seen this mentioned anywhere: The contest is international, right?
Balerion The Cat,
Yes it is! 😀
Night gathers, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my death.I shall take no wife,Hold no lands,Father no children,I shall wear no crowns and win no glory. I shall live and die at my post.I am the sword in the darkness,I am the watcher on the walls. I am the shield that guards the realms of men.I pledge my life and honor to the nights watch, for this night and all nights to come.
I want to be a Ranger RAWR!
Singer.
Seems like it’s the job you’re less likely to die in.
Maester, Once a Paramedic always a Paramedic!
Maester.
I’d be in the blacksmiths shop. I’m stronger than I look, it’s warm, and if have a great view of the training grounds… I heart guys with swords
I wouldn’t want any of the jobs on the Wall, honestly, but if I had to pick one then I’d say Maester or the Maester’s steward. I wouldn’t mind looking after the ravens.
I’d be a builder.
I’ll choose Maester. Hopefully at the Citadel I can pick up some good tips from Alleras on shooting a Dornish longbow, which could also come in handy.
Lord Commander of the Nights Watch for me. If not that then I guess the Lowly Piss Boy.
Night gathers, and now my watch begins !
I’d like to be a one arm Blacksmith
Steward
Recruiter. I could still get away at times and sneak in visits with family and friends on my way to the much warmer south.
Steward.
The one that’s in charge of the library. You know, checking books for vermin, copying near unreadable tomes onto fresh parchment n bind them, fetching books for maester Aemon and whoever else needs them.
And if I read a bit inbetween those things, well, I need to know what’s there, right? 🙂
definitely a builder
I’ll be a builder.
I’d work in the kitchen.
I wanna be a Black Brother Ranger
Live the life of guts and danger
Black Brother Ranger
Life of danger
I wanna be a Castle Black Builder
Adding ice blocks, making tunnel filler
Castle Black Builder, tunnel filler
Black Brother Ranger, life of danger
I wanna be a kickass Cook
Boil some mutton and serve hot gobbledygook
Kickass Cook, hot gobbledygook
Castle Black Builder, tunnel filler
Black Brother Ranger, life of danger
I wanna be a Raven Maester
Feed em corn and write a letter
Raven Maester, letter writer
Kickass Cook, hot gobbledygook
Castle Black Builder, tunnel filler
Black Brother Ranger, life of danger
I wanna be the Lord’s Steward
Keep him from being skewered
Lord’s Steward, being skewered
Raven Maester, letter writer
Kickass Cook, hot gobbledygook
Castle Black Builder, tunnel filler
Black Brother Ranger, life of danger
Maester Aemon’s Secret Keeper
Shylah,
Thank you, now all I have to do is win 😀 lol
I’d work in the kitchen. Love to cook and it seems to be much safer in there.
It’s the stewards for me. Seeing as I can read and write, and I know my numbers too.
I would like to be a builder because its not dangerous like a ranger or as boring as a steward.
I’d like be the cook. Because of… food and it’s warm and there’s food.
Maester. Get to stay mostly warm and read a lot? Yes please.
I’d love to become the Maester (Alleras-style for me). But it seems like the best/safest job by far, and it’d be cool to read some of those NW tomes.
Builder, especially one that builds traps and defenses.
I’d be Alister Thorne’s cup bearer. Just so I can spit in his wine every day.
The 1,000th Lord Commander, quadruple digits fools!
the smith, though I still have both arms
I’d like to be Maester Aemon’s assistant. The secret to beating the Others is in the books!
I wish I could be a ranger but I would probably end up having to clean the latrines over and over again…
Steward, particularly if I got do some research in the library.
1. Maester (and come back to organize all the books & scrolls)
2. Donal Noye’s apprentice
3. Builder
Steward!
I’d like to be Three-Fingered Hobb’s other two fingers!!
Dylan Z. Neill,
We could throw books at them!
Since there aren’t many job options at the wall, and everyone’s already mentioned the witty and silly ones, I will have to go with Hobb’s assistant cook, because you need someone to chop up the veggies and skin the rabbits for 50+ people. Staying indoors mostly where it is warm and safe is always a plus that far north
I’d be a Maester, so I can read all those books in the library
I’ll be the cook. Just to stay warm when the winter comes.
I know this should be a raffle, but you, Ser, deserve a special prize for this comment!
probably a steward….I like the innerworkings.
Shylah,
I appreciate this a lot as well! (even though I’m not entering myself – the prize is simply something that doesn’t really interest me, so better leave it for people that WOULD be happy with it… But just for fun: if I were to take the Black, I’d love to be the blacksmith)
I want to be the guy that makes sure that no one licks the ice and gets their tongue stuck on the Wall. There are some weird people in Westeros, so you never do. It’s a hard job, but someone gotta do it.
First ranger
Mole’s town tour guide, definitely.
“And this, Sers and M’ladies, is the local brothel. Enjoy.”
I love my typos.
I would definitely be a steward to the maester
Ranger! (sigh) all men must die anyway… At least it would bring some excitement to this dull life
I would want to be a Steward, because of the whole shelter, warmth, and actual ridiculous menu items. Do you see the stuff they serve at the Wall? Best food in Westeros, let’s be real.
Cellar dweller. I could help Jon count the frozen pork loins and vegetables, maintain the stored documents, and check in on the various dead bodies in certain dark rooms.
I’d like to be a builder.
Probably steward to help the maester. Something with the ravens… I would teach them rude words. 🙂
I think I’ll join Janos Slynt as the basement inspector, right during the middle of a wildling attack.
Piss boy. I love carrying chamber pots around. I’d be the most popular guy on the battlefield.
I like to travel so I think I would have to be the recruiter, travelling to the dungeons of Westeros, saving noble children from the horror’s of King’s Landing and fighting off Lannister swordsmen to protect them.
I’d probably be hiding out in the library, keeping Maester Aemon warm…like, by hugging him all day.
The Night King or a deserter! Tough choice… Hmm, on a second thought can I be Bran the Builder?
BTW, the Rat Cook position is still open… any takers?
Ranger. Well… anything that would keep me close to Jon Snowww.
Probably steward. I like the maester stuff. To help him would be amazing!
Maester!
You need to a
because that place is reserved for
I’d like to be a ranger equipped with a dragon glass dagger or two, Even though I probably wouldn’t stand a chance against the White Walkers it would be ok, I’ve always wanted blue eyes…
Probably Sam’s job working in the archives/library
Ranger, obvs. 🙂
A steward who cooks with Hobb and that wildling-carving cleaver of his. I’d make Basamatti Rice with Tika Masala sauce for the Rangers when they come back from the Haunted Forest.
And when necessary I’d cook up links to do with today’s filming. Like this one and this one. (I can’t help myself).
If i’d be a ranger i wouldn’t live long enough to see all the things beyond the wall i wish to see as a ranger. I”d be a terrible builder, steward would be nice but does not let you go very far away, so being a maester with all that extra knowledge about the existing world and it’s secrets that no one else knows, would be the thing i would enjoy the most plus a couple amputations and stichings per week(day) would just spice up the whole expirience…. Cheers
…. i would not want to be a cook just because the pure economy of the dealing witch The Watch’s budet. Imagine the stress. When i cook i want to have all that i need to do the meal i wanna cook….
Comment
Gardener.
I’d be the cook!
I would to be a builder beacause I’m an Engineer!
I’d probably be a builder. Yay 🙂
Ranger 😀
As much as I’d like to say cook, or be brave enough to say Ranger, I know I’d be better suited to serve as a Steward.
So i specifically need to comment on blog to enter and just singing in and commenting here does not count. Yes?
I think the stewards got it good. Bring a builder wouldn’t be too bad either.
jumpin4smoke,
You need to comment on this post and acknowledge that you did so on the rafflecopter widget above.
steward!
Shylah,
Done. Thanks….
I would absolutely be a builder. Seems like good hard labor, keeps you in shape but out of the way of the wildlings. Plus you’re always in demand.
I’d like to have sam’s job as a steward – taking care of Master Aemon and the ravens 🙂
I’d love to be Maester Aemon’s assistan. I’m a huge book geek! 😀
I’ll make the herbal tinctures, candles, soaps and smokes.
I’d make a good builder, but I could also be a steward! Probably not a ranger, I would get killed immediately.
I’d love to be the maester on the wall. Seems like fun, not too much work, lots of birds talking shit around me.
First I’d need to make use of Melisandre’s cloaking device, to pass muster as a male steward.
After plucking the geese and chickens, I’d hunker down in some warm corner and fletch arrows (ala Ygritte).
Sam’s too busy reading, so I’d catalog the library and tend the ravens.
Yup, that’s what I’d do.
Assistant Deputy Breastplate-Stretcher Operator
I would probably die from the cold as soon as I got there.
Either First Ranger or Winetaster
Armorer. The forge puts out a lot of heat.
I would want to be Maester Aemon’s assistant, I’m an un athletic bibliophile, really just a female Samwell Tarly, so to be honest it’s all I could really do….
steward taking care of horses, dogs, and other animals 🙂
Definitely in charge of the scyth no competition.
I’d opt for stable master. I’m good with horses and they are warm.
Tend to the books, just like Sam.
Lord Commander or First Ranger, of course. How is that even a question??
I would wanna be a blacksmith but that would leave me little opportunity to desert to the wildlings, so i guess it is a ranger for me hehe.
I would *want* to be a ranger, riding forth into danger with my brothers (& sisters, using cloaking devices and otherwise) to face the white walkers head on and burn them all with the flame of my righteousness…………..BUT I would probably get stuck tending the ravens. So is my luck, at least. Otherwise I would probably spend my hours training, teaching, training…and then DRINKING away the bitter cold lonely nights. Okay, where can I sign up?
I’d like to be the Kennel Master at Longbarrow. Cuz ladies LOVE Puppies. And I love Puppies. And Ladies.
I would love to be a ranger. Going out beyond the wall, looking for danger. I’m a pretty okay survivalist so I would last haha
Maester!
Definitely steward to someone in a non combat role (steward to the Maester for example).
Maester!
Recruiter, starting with mole town brothel. RIP Brother Yoren
One of the ship captains at eastwatch! This way I could see hardhome!
“Dead things in the water!”
Maester would definitely be my first choice, then probably a ranger as next pick, maybe helping train new recruits
House Slut. All are welcome.
If the position is already filled (heh), taking care of the garrons.
Ranger. Don’t care which post, as long as I am able to venture out into the wild. I’m an adventurous person, so the last thing I would want to do is sit around in a castle doing the same job day in and day out.
First Steward. I think I could be a more forward-thinking, less stabby Bowen Marsh.
Or if that didn’t work out, I could become a cobbler. I’ve always wanted to learn the ins and outs of shoe repair.
I would like to be a steward, and take care of the night’s watch ravens and mail. 😉
Ranger for sure.
ranger! gotta have some excitement in life
Hmmm…it’d be a toss up between the librarian job or taking care of the horses. Love both books and horses ALOT! Perhaps I could do a little of both since there are now many empty positions in the Watch. 🙁 That actually sounds like heaven to me!
I want to be a ranger and have a training montage.
lord commander of course!
I’d like to be one of the gatekeepers, so I can hassle rangers returning.
“Sorry, sir, but that bloody sword is not a valid ID.”
Maester
Recruiter! Travel the realm, giving a new chance at life to lost souls and broken men.
The Builders. I’m an engineer and it would be right up my alley
Master, like bby aegon
Steward of the fireplaces… I’d always be warm….
Token giant, like Wun Wun.
Probably a ranger, easier to desert and join the free folk
Steward, specialization map drawer.
Someone should better take care of their ledgers and archive, especially after ADWD. I would do it. I can even speak braavosi.
Thanks everyone for participating! This contest is now over, but please check out Day 2 of our week of giveaways here: http://watchersonthewall.com/watchers-walls-take-black-contest-day-two/
Wow, a nice surprise!
Thanks WOTW!
Thanks Shylah!
I’ll try to post a picture when I get my prize…
Let’s all support the bottom!
