Game of Thrones New Years Day Giveaway banner

Happy New Year, Watchers! Another year has ended, and a fresh one is dawning, with a new season of Game of Thrones and a host of broken resolutions to look forward to in 2017. What better way to kick it off than with a giveaway of an amazing Game of Thrones prize pack?

Our Game of Thrones New Year Giveaway is themed on one of the show’s biggest characters, Daenerys Targaryen. The prize pack we’re giving away to one lucky reader consists of:

  • Exclusive 20th Anniversary Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen minis from Dark Sword Miniatures.
  • Dark Horse’s newly available Son of the Harpy figure. The 7-inch tall figure captures with amazingly accurate detail the costume and mask of Dany’s Meereenese enemy.
  • The Hand of the Queen Pin from Dark Horse Comics is a 3-inch-long replica of the one Dany gifts to Tyrion in the season 6 finale.

For the next week, we’re accepting entries in this worldwide giveaway, and one of our readers will be taking home this prize pack! To enter, all you need to do is leave a comment below! (See below for more entry methods.)

  1. Happy New Year to all of you!
Wouldn’t be a great year start for me to finally win something?

  2. I’ve read the books and seen every episode. Game of Thrones is one of the most epic stories of all time.

  3. Just watched the marathon. Reading the Wit and Wisdom of Tyrion Lannister. I would love to have this pack.

  5. I won a Joffers figurine some time back so I’d better not get greedy but I take the opportunity to wish everyone a happy new year (I think I already wished merry Xmas closer to the time).

  6. Ok, this is just awesome. Like, really, too cool! Thanks for the awesome giveaway (and rockin’ blog too of course)!

  7. I want my name picked randomly out of a hat. So I can win merchandise. And feel better about my petty existence.

  8. I’m only posting in order to win, baby, win. I’ve been assiduously avoiding spoilers this year, very tough considering.

  9. Happy new year all! WOTW makes GOT a much richer and more enjoyable experience and you guys are great for these prize giveaways you do. Thanks for all your hard work.

  10. Today is my birthday and it’s snowing, so my wish came true 🙂
    Good luck in 2017. everybody!

  11. I’d like to corner my grandfather in a narrow hallway with this,… this very elite hallway warrior figurine.

    Happy New Years!

  12. Just want to comment that it’s not easy being drunk all the time. If it were easy, everyone would do it.

  13. Apropos of something or other, I’ve been out of town for the past couple of weeks and am returning to Castle Catspaw tonight and can’t wait to get my grubby paws on the Night King figure I won recently! Though with my luck he’ll have frozen the mailbox shut, sealing it for thousands of years.

Oh well, I can afford to wait, being that I’m dead and all. 😉

  14. I don’t much care about yon miniatures but the HAND pin I WANT!!! 😀

OT: This year my small Xmas pressies to friends were hand-made “reflectors” – bits of reflecting material to wear about your person when the nights are long and full of traffic terrors. The GoT-themed ones (house sigils etc.) were the best liked, the one I liked best and almost didn’t want to give away was the “Hand pin”. So I want one to compensate!

Winter has come where I live. Only 7 cm of snow but -20.1 degrees Celsius as we speak, the snow makes a “narsk narsk” sound when you walk. The ice isn’t as slippery as it was at +1, -1 or -5 or whatever. The hairs inside my nose freeze together when I breathe… Aah, I love winter!

“Narsk narsk” made me laugh! It has been in the -40s with windchill here and I definitely know what sound you mean! The kind of day where your eyelashes freeze together as well, and your teeth ache even with your mouth closed!

But boy does it look beautiful.

  16. Pigeon,

Aye, with the windchill, it apparently “feels like” -30 Celsius now, and expexted to get colder tomorrow… Hmm… Should I worry about stray White Walkers coming my way? 😀

I’m not sure GRRM really knows what winter and snow and ice are like. Apparently he went to college in some northern mid-western college and the harsh winters he experienced there left a mark, but he never embraced or understood winter and what it’s like to people who’re used to proper winters every year. Like you know when it’s slippery, you know when the ice and snow isn’t slippery.

Danish Peter Hoeg wrote a novel about it. Miss Smilla’s Feeling for Snow (1992). Smilla is a Greenland Inuit living in Denmark. Her intuitive feeling for different kinds of snow and ice are important in the novel. I found myself nodding, yeah, I know how snow and snow or ice and ice are different. Even in my language we’ve got dozens of different words for different kinds of snow and ice. GRRM lacks this cultural background, and though he does his best, his description of snow, ice, and the natural forces that govern them is a bit lacking. But, hey, it’s fantasy!

Completely OT: Jaime Lannister actor, Danish Nikolaj Coster-Waldau’s wife is from Greenland. Nik posts pictures on Instagram from Greenland – probably visiting in-laws.

  17. I have a bunch of friends who LOVE the game of thrones that Id love to give a late christmas gift to!!

  18. It finally snowed in the southwest! (I am from the North) We got 2 inches and school is cancelled! We have no plows and only the main roads get sanded, so good luck leaving your neighborhood. It looks beautiful outside now! I am happy to be home today, so I can enjoy they view and maybe even go outside to play in it!! I miss the North!

  19. Whoever wins should go have the actor who played Selmy sign it for you, sure he’d love that.
