Game of Thrones meets Taylor Swift in this new parody

Nerdist

Nerdist turns out some great parodies but their new take on Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” is really slaying. So to speak.

Chock full of clever lyrics, “Blank Page” stars Nick Mundy as George R.R. Martin warning fans “I get off on killing everyone you love” in the song.

The video also features Emily Rudd as Daenerys, and Brandon Hillcock as Jon Snow.

  1. Every time someone says a major character can die by a “random” anything… I know they don’t know what the fuck they are talking about.

  2. Not bad at all. Definitely the best funny GoT sketch for a long time, but it really has been lacking in that respect.

  3. awesome i just starting watchin a lot of screen junkies stuff too where mundy is always cracking me up

  4. Can anybody help make out who is the one Armored like the sun on this… “There were shadows all around them. One shadow was dark as ash, with terrible face of a hound. Another was Armored like the sun, golden and beautiful. Over them loomed a Giant in armor made of stone, but when he opened his visor, there was nothing inside but darkness and thick black blood”

  5. Am I the only one who doesn’t understand why people watch youtubers talk about ASOIAF or make funny parody videos of the tv show. I also don’t understand how people watch other people react to trailers and other stupid things, bunch of film school rejects LOL

  6. Let’s start a game to kill time, Rank your favorite to least favorite Game of Thrones trailer (the ones you actually remember)

Oddly enough, Taylor’s lyrics for “Blank Space” fit GoT as well.

    Top 3 trailers for me:
Game of Thrones Season 4 International DVD Trailer (In The Woods Somewhere)
Game of Thrones Season 2: Trailer #2 (Seven Devils)
Game of Thrones Season 4: Trailer #1 (Feral Love)

    Favorite fan-made trailer:
Game of Thrones Season 4: Trailer featuring Lorde’s “Everybody Wants To Rule The World” from the “Hunger Games: Catching Fire” soundtrack

  8. Ozymandias,

Oh, how fun it is to peruse the old trailers! Thx for the list. Besides the original jaw-dropping, heart-stopping trailer for S1, I treasure the S4 trailers, especially the first one (S4, Feral Love).

I was intrigued that the S4 Trailer #4 (Devil Inside) ended with Jaime’s “Why have the gods made me love a hateful woman?”. They were proud of that scene and the Sullied world greatly anticipated it. 🙂

Very true, all of the deaths are meticulously planned, part of the reason it takes him forever to finish the books.

  10. Totally off topic but just noticed this:

  11. Meh, just the lazy joke of GRRM kills characters off again. It’s like flogging a dead donkey.

The only Game of Thrones parody type thing I’ve really enjoyed was the Medieval Land Fun-Time World one.

    For those who have yet to have the pleasure;

  12. While this video was well produced, whoever created it seems to be a bigger fan of Taylor Swift than they are of Game of Thrones, as the most casual watchers of the show can point out that many characters die off. No deep cuts or fun references to the actual story. The “GRRM” voice was extremely grating, and the character in the video made him appear more buffoonish than he should be. The parody mocks GRRM for killing off character, but it’s more concerned with the HBO show, so a better target would have been Benioff & Weiss. I never laughed, or even cracked a smile. I enjoy parodies of GoT, such as the ‘Some Ecards’ site’s ‘What if Game of Thrones were on Facebook’ bit. I’m going to have to give this one two thumbs down. Try harder, Nerdist.

  13. Alex Hardeman,

I’m not sure how it is more centered around the show or why D&D would have been better to parody. Everything that is in the song happens in the books.

The ending was a nod to what happens in ADWD.

This is a parody video, of course GRRM is going to appear buffoonish. Is it laugh out loud funny? No. But it is amusing, and I thought the actor playing GRRM was funny.

  14. King Stannis,

No, the golden one armored like the sun is Oberyn Martell (look at the sigil of Dorne, with the sun-and-spear). The one standing over him in armor like stone is the Mountain, and the reference to opening his visor with nothing in it predicts the arrival of Robert Strong (don’t want to spoil, but if you’ve read ADWD you know who this refers to). The Hound reference…not sure how that fits in. But this is definitely referring to the fight of the Viper and the Mountain.
