As of today, Google Chromecast users officially have access to HBO’s streaming service: HBO NOW!

The online service, priced at a monthly fee of $14.99/month, is exponentially more versatile than when it was first unveiled as an Apple exclusive. Now the service is available still on Apple/iOS platforms as well as Android, Amazon Fire tablets/TV, and now today on Google Chromecast!

The availability of HBO Now makes it all the more enticing but unfortunately it is still a United States exclusive. Given the growth of the service, it’s safe to assume a more global availability is still to come.

With so much exclusive content now made more available then ever, will you be subscribing to HBO NOW? What will you be watching? A Game of Thrones rewatch? Or maybe The Leftovers or True Detective? Let us know in the comments below!

    alexandra cortez,

I’ve heard about $80 million for the season but I’ve also read that its gone from $6 million per episode to about $8 million per episode from 2012-2015 so it may be more.

    The Bastard, agree with that!!

    Thank you for your response

You have heard it from a Youtube comment? I read that there yesterday.

8 million is laughable small for HBO and such a big show. I mean Netfilx had 9 million for marco polo in its first season. Got is already in season 5 and still has a smaller budget than marco polo? It doesn’t make sense.

Wish we had the choice to just have HBO in the UK instead of Sky.

You are better off than those of us living in Japan. HBO’s partner here doesn’t show GoT until July. There is no legal way to watch GoT in Japan until then, at any price. Knowing how stubborn Japanese media companies are with respect to the internet, I don’t expect this to change next year. We will be the last people on earth with a legal option to watch HBO content in a timely fashion.

  3. Well, however much it is the guys from Marco Polo certainly didn’t get their moneys worth compared to GoT.

  4. I really like HBO NOW. Cable was too expensive for me in the past, and I had to rely on friends to watch GoT in a timely manner, but now I can watch whichever episode I want, as well as their entire library. No, this is not an ad for HBO NOW. I just think its a cool, fairly inexpensive service and I’m glad this is the future of TV and that cable is a dying beast.

  5. My page a day calendar quote for 07-August:
They say the red comet is a herald of a new age.
    A messenger from the gods.
-Theon Greyjoy -A Clash of kings

OK that one was kinda lame.

  6. We subscribed to HBO NOW for the entirety of last season and were very pleased with the service. I highly recommend it to anyone!

Since I’m a cheap bastard, we cancelled as soon as the run was over. Still, I suspect HBO factored people like me into their pricing scheme so I don’t feel too bad about it haha… I’ll be subscribing again next year unless I can manage to get HBO GO codes from someone.

I suppose you’re right, after a fashion. However, except for the name, the service seems identical to what I get with HBO Nordic. HBO Nordic + Chromecast was the reason why I got up at 3 am Monday mornings during GOT season. Newer Samsung TVs have a built in app for HBO Nordic as well, but buying a new TV just for GOT seemed a tad excessive. HBO Nordic with Xbox360 is also possible. As long as you live in one of the Nordic countries, of course.
