WotW Reviews Telltale’s “Game of Thrones”

Screen Shot 2014-12-03 at 3.49.31 PM

The Thrones-verse grew a little yesterday with the release of the first episode of Telltale Games’ first foray into Westeros. The game which tells the story of House Forrester, a minor house pledged to the Starks, allows players to take their own crack at Westerosi politics, as Dan Connors, CEO and co-founder of Telltale Games, explains:
“Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series will expand upon a world already epic in scope and detail, giving fans of the franchise an opportunity to forge their own path as they interact with characters they know from the TV show, and new ones from House Forrester and beyond.”
Like so many red-blooded Thrones addicts, our own Blaqfyre devoured the first episode yesterday. Her review of the game is after the jump!

The North Remembers: November 2011

Raven LogoSo, what was going on in the GoT community three years ago? November was a quiet month, as usual. Filming winding down, and it still being too early for extensive promotion. Nevertheless …

  • Some of the last shots in Northern Ireland was scenes from Renly’s and Robb’s camps. We learned about dissent in Robb’s storyline, with people badmouthing Talisa (her name then yet unknown) as “that foreign woman”. We also got the confirmation that Craster’s Keep was filmed in NI.
  • The Making GoT blog teased about the night-time battle shoot which later resulted in Blackwater.
  • We got our first small sneak peek of Qarth, shot earlier in Croatia, via Entertainment Weekly.
  • The Northern Ireland part of filming wrapped on the 18th. Soon after, however, the production moved to Iceland.
  • Edward Dogliani was announced to play Rattleshirt by GRRM, that was one of the last casting tidbits for the season.
  • If you do not count Icelandic extras and horses (15 of the latter), that is.
  • The DVD of season one was announced for March! Ah, first season … and now we are already awaiting the box sets of Season Four.
  • The biggest thing, and the most exciting one that month, was the release of this S2 behind the scenes “In Production” video. Good old days indeed.

GOT Round Up: Wrap Party in Belfast, A New Telltale Trailer, and Another Award Nomination

That’s a wrap (party)!

On November 29, Crumlin Road Gaol in Belfast played host to the wrap party for Season V of Game of Thrones. The former prison seems like an ominous (if cool) backdrop for a celebration- but, seeing as it’s Thrones, we should just be happy that cast and crew seem to have all made it out of the party alive.

Filming is scheduled to continue through this month, thankfully, undaunted, now that they’ve gotten the partying out of the way.

Natalie Dormer and Jerome Flynn talk GoT, and Telltale’s Game of Thrones is now available for pre-purchase!

Here are your Game of Thrones news highlights this Monday morning!

Natalie Dormer

  • In her new interview with The Daily Beast, Natalie Dormer discusses her role as Cressida in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay-Part 1, her present-day basis for Margaery Tyrell, which scene she asked the show writers to change in season 4, and why Game of Thrones needs more male nudity.

Well, during the first season Alfie, Richard, and several of the men got naked—although not all the way. I suppose it’s just the rules of broadcast television, isn’t it? I think Thrones has been better than your average show with the equality, but they could definitely ramp it up! Absolutely.
