Game of Thrones meets Taylor Swift in this new parody

Nerdist

Nerdist turns out some great parodies but their new take on Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” is really slaying. So to speak.

Chock full of clever lyrics, “Blank Page” stars Nick Mundy as George R.R. Martin warning fans “I get off on killing everyone you love” in the song.

The video also features Emily Rudd as Daenerys, and Brandon Hillcock as Jon Snow.

Looking Forward Game of Thrones Season 5, Part 3: Dany Targaryen and Stormborn Arrogance

Emilia Clarke as Daenerys Targaryen_ photo Helen Sloan_HBO

She is the First of her Name, the Unburnt, Queen of Meereen, Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Breaker of Chains and Mother of Dragons.

She could also be a focal point of Season 5, which if done right, could be a highlight of the season. But regardless, by the time it’s all said and done and despite the mountains of titles, a man is beginning to believe most of us, in the end, will all just hate her…

Preview Anthrax’s Catch the Throne track

gameofthronesvol2We can expect a wild ride if the newest sample from Catch the Throne is anything to go by. HBO released today a snippet from Anthrax’s contribution to Vol. II of the mixtape.

The band’s guitarist Scott Ian says of the music, “[You] see the Mountain onscreen, it shouldn’t be harps and lutes.” The mixtape is set to have each track inspired by part of season 4. With the Mountain mention, can we assume their song is inspired by Gregor Clegane or perhaps more specifically the Mountain-Viper duel?

Last week, Killswitch Engage released a sample of their House Martell-inspired song, “Loyalty.”

Interview Roundup: John Bradley, Jonathan Pryce, and many more!

John Bradley

The promotional season for Game of Thrones is in full swing, and new interviews are being conducted regularly. We’ve rounded up the latest notable ones for you.

First up is John Bradley. In an interview with IGN, John teased at some of Sam’s developments in the upcoming season. He says that up until now, Sam had found solace in the Night’s Watch, away from the militaristic tendencies of his father, Lord Randyll. He had achieved a sense of place and protection from the outside world. With Stannis now in the mix, that old reality catches up fast with Sam, and he will be “knocked down a few pegs”.

Jonathan Pryce, Richard Madden, Nathalie Emmanuel and Nina Gold all have their say on Season 5 below the cut!

Guess the Game of Thrones season 5 episode titles!

guessThis is a guest post and survey by WotW reader James Rivers.

If the top parlor game ahead of a new season of Game of Thrones is theorizing which new characters will show up who weren’t publicized ahead of time, the runner-up is likely predicting the episode titles.

The 40 so far have included the obvious (“Blackwater,”) the
wink-wink-nudge-nudge to book readers (“Baelor,” “The Rains of Castamere,”) the double-entendre’d (“Kissed by Fire”), and now and then the misinterpreted-as-a-double-entendre-when-it-really-wasn’t (“Mhysa”). Unfortunately none are as straightforward as those that Friends used to do (or else the season two premiere would have been called, “The One Where Tyrion Crashes Joffrey’s Party”).

The early Season 5 episode titles could leak any day now, so before they do, let’s put our heads together and see what the WatchersOnTheWall community can collectively come up with.

It’s pretty simple: Fill in the blanks below. The survey will remain live until March 6th, at noon Eastern Time– or until the first batch of titles leak/are released, whichever happens first. Then we’ll compile the results and see how close everyone came to the mark. This Friday, we’ll reveal the results of the survey.

The survey is under the cut!

Game of Thrones S4 box set tops US charts as well

Season-4-Game-of-Thrones-Blu-rayAfter the record-breaking news from the UK, we now have a nugget concerning season four box set sales Stateside.

Variety reports that Game of Thrones: The Complete Fourth Season is toping both of its sales charts for the week of release. That is, it sold more Blu-rays than any other show OR movie, and more home video (Blu-ray and DVD combined) than the competition.

The rest of the top 5 are all new releases of movies, not shows. 54% of the Thrones sales in the first week came from Blu-ray, which was thus slightly preferred over the DVD edition. Unfortunately, official absolute numbers of copies sold have not been reported.

The North Remembers: February 2012

Raven LogoOnce more we go down memory lane to see what was going on three years ago. Much like we are now expecting S5 to hit the screens, we were eagerly expecting the sophomore season of Game of Thronesi back then.

  • The wait was more bearable because we had the first season box set to analyse, and Bryan Cogman to tell us about his work on it.
  • In terms of S2 publicity, a lot happened that February. They published a series of character images with S2 quotes (such as Arya’s ‘Anyone can be killed’), a poster for fans of a Stark sigil made in blood with the words The North Remembers (how appropriate for this post), a bunch of publicity photos, and a S2 tease art and poster – a hand grabbing a crown, with the tagline War is Coming. I wasn’t impressed by that last one.
  • We learned the title of the first episode of the second season: it would be called “The North Remembers”.
  • GRRM provided some details on his writing the script for episode 209 “Blackwater”, and it sounded promising (as we know, the episode did not disappoint).
  • Several videos were published as well, and I know you will enjoy rewatching them. There was this In Production video from Iceland, a behind-the-scenes Invitation to the Set, and last but not least the Power and Grace trailer!
  • Finally, three years ago we started looking three years back with this series of posts … Time flies. Also, recursion.
