Borgen actress joins the cast of Game of Thrones

A new Game of Thrones trailer surfaced today courtesy of HBO Asia, bringing with it a few new shots of footage including one of a wildling woman with a familiar face.

Identified in our comments section by WotW reader SerCountryFriedSteak, the wildling is played by Danish actress Birgitte Hjort Sørensen. She’s best known for playing news anchor Katrine Fønsmark for three seasons on the hit drama Borgen.

The actress is also set to appear in the Martin Scorsese-directed HBO pilot focusing on the ’70’s rock ‘n roll scene.

UPDATE!: The actress has confirmed on her Twitter that she is playing “a wildling chieftainess concerned with the future of her people.”

New promo video featuring the Sand Snakes

HBO has just released a (one-minute) promo video featuring the Sand Snakes, Oberyn Martell’s three bastard daughters – speaking within the framework of the show canon, of course. Watch the video below to get better acquainted with the actors portraying them: Rosabell Laurenti Sellers (Tyene Sand, fighting with daggers), Keisha Castle-Hughes (Obara Sand, spear), Jessica Henwick (Nymeria Sand, whip).

Daily News introduces a Game of Thrones advent calendar; plus more new pics from Season 5!

With one month left on our countdown clock to the season fve premiere, Daily News has decided to launch a countdown of their own. They were treated to a visit to the set in Belfast, conducting interviews, taking a sneak peek behind the scenes, and the like – and now they are ready to reveal one snippet each day.

HBO wants more than seven seasons of Game of Thrones; NEW inside information on Season 5

In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly, Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss, along HBO programming president Michael Lombardo, discussed the circumstances surrounding the inevitable end of HBO’s flagship show.

Catch the Throne Vol 2 released today on iTunes!

Today, HBO announced that they will be releasing Catch the Throne: The Mixtape Vol. 2 for free on iTunes. You can get the collection of Thrones-inspired songs at iTunes.com/CatchTheThrone.

HBO previously confirmed that Catch the Throne Vol. 2 will also be available on Soundcloud on March 17th.

This year’s edition of the mixtape includes artists from genres such as R&B, electronic, Latin, heavy metal and rap, with acclaimed acts like Anthrax, Method Man and Snoop Dogg in the mix.

First official images of the Sand Snakes!

In addition to revealing four collectible Game of Thrones covers, a pic of Arya’s new outfit and videos of the cover stars, Entertainment Weekly has another treat for us today. The magazine has now shared with fans the first official images of the Sand Snakes, the bastard offspring of Oberyn Martell who will be making their debut in season 5.

“We haven’t seen women like this on Game of Thrones before,” Keisha Castle-Hughes tells EW. “You have lone wolves like Arya and Brienne, and others like Daenerys or Cersei, who are politically strong surrounded by men. But you haven’t seen women who are strong together and who collaborate – which is a dangerous thing. We’re three girls who are violent and manipulative who are thirsty for Lannister blood.”
