With House of the Dragon pulling a record number of viewers for its premiere and only increasing for episode two, HBO Max is now employing a curious marketing strategy by releasing the entirity of the premiere, “The Heirs of the Dragon”, on their Youtube channel, for everyone in the USA to watch—free of charge:

Another week, another episode of House of the Dragon on the books. “The Rogue Prince” may not have been as action packed as the premiere, but it still gave us us plenty of intrigue, indecision, and yes, ickiness, to chew on as we wait for Sunday night.

The first season of House of the Dragon has just started and we’re already getting production news for the second season. And I don’t think this is news any of us could have possibly expected: director Miguel Sapochnik, showrunner for season one with writer Ryan Condal, is moving away from the show, while another Game of Thrones veteran is coming back for this prequel’s second season.

Many speculated that the record-setting ratings from premiere week were a blip on the radar and that House of the Dragon would drop in week 2. However that doesn’t seem to be the case. HBOMax has just released (via Twitter) the first numbers for HOTD‘s second episode, “The Rogue Prince,” showing an increase of 2% for the show. That gives us a a total of 10.2 million viewers for HOTD‘s second outing, “domestically across @HBOMax and linear telecasts, based on a combination of Nielsen and first party data.”
