Game of Thrones Tarot Cards to debut at Comic-Con in San Diego

Chronicle Books has announced a partnership with HBO to give fans an opportunity to use Tarot cards with their favorite Game of Thrones characters, locations and more! I’m no Tarot expert, but some of the art we’re seeing here is absolutely gorgeous. I’d also be curious to learn what they mean by ‘more’…

The Tarot cards will debut at Comic-Con in San Diego, where booth attendees will be the first to preview the set at the Chronicle Books booth (#1506).

“Archetypes are the foundation of every great tale,” says the deck’s author, Liz Dean, “and Game of Thrones is an outstanding story, a rich weave…From the icy landscapes beyond the Wall to the hot deserts of Dorne, the world of Game of Thrones is replete with symbolism: an abundant source for a new tarot deck.”

The deluxe boxed set of Game of Thrones Tarot contains a wholly original deck by Liz Dean, with illustrations by Craig Coss, aiming to provide a rich and meaningful tarot experience to fans who want to continue experiencing the magic of Westeros. Once they debut, you should be able to buy them at the HBO Store. For $24.95 US, you’ll receive 78 full-color tarot cards and a 100-page hardcover booklet.

Hopefully, those lucky enough to attend the con will be able to bring home pictures to we avid readers at Watchers on the Wall. Mama Rose seems to think that everything’s coming up roses, but I think everything’s coming up Game of Thrones these days. And would we really have it any other way?!

    2. Beautiful illustration work, but can’t agree with Bran being the Hermit, at least while Meera’s around.

Lovely, loyal, frizzy-haired, strong as an ox Meera. Sigh.

    3. Don’t mess with tarot cards, people. Stay away from divination and sorcery in general. It’s a dangerous road. I kid you not.

Shame on HBO for their greed.
