First Game of Thrones Season 6 trailer released!

HBO surprised us all and released the first trailer for the new season. Enjoy it below!

Hear Marko Roar: Now that’s a trailer! Music, focus on the fallout from S5, then action time. I have no words. Watch this beauty, there will be time to analyse it frame by frame later.

  1. Davos gettin’ ready to take out some of those Night’s Watch traitors. Aw yeah.

    Also:

OH MY GOD THIS CAME OUT OF NOWHERE.

  2. I posted this on the other thread, but it definitely sums up my feelings.

    FUCK YEAH!!!!!!

Much better than the other things we’ve had so far.

  3. YESSSSSSSSSSSS

Highlight #1: BRAN AND THE FUCKING NIGHTSKING

Highlight #2: Everything Jaime and Cersei say YES CERSEI 2 KILL EVERYONE SEASON 6

  4. Best parts: Kingsmoot. Tower of Joy. Sansa looking like the Queen of the North. Arya’s leap. Melisandre’s lost faith.

  5. Best day ever!!!! Best trailer ever! Someone, please analyze piece by piece for me. I’ve watched over and over but I want to make sure I’m not missing anything! ???

  6. Uhm…they are calling it the official trailer, not the first. I wouldn’t count on getting a second one.

On the other hand, Crazy Cersei with the Carol Brady wig looks hilarious. Iain Glenn looks remarkably hot.

  7. OMG!!!!! My hands are totally shaking! That trailer gave me some serious chills! And that last scene with Davos pulling the sword out of it’s sheath in front of who I think was a dead Jon Snow gave me some major Azor Ahai vibes. Holy shit.

  8. OMG!!!!

I happened to glance down at my iPad when my FB refreshed, and there it was on the GoT page!!! So of course, I rushed here. Excuse me while I get my boss over here to watch it with me. Let the fan squeals commence!!

  9. I saw the

Kingsmoot, maybe Mel doing a necro on Jon, Ramsey definitely burning someone,

    lotta good stuff, super hyped

  10. Calling it right now:

Davos steals Jon’s corpse to bring it to Melisandre, then proceeds to bang her so she can use her magical vagina magic to bring him back to life.
  11. LOOK AT 1:16, A KNIGHT SPINNING TWO SWORDS IN TARGAREAN ARMOUR BATTLING NORTH MEN????? WTF? Someone else confirm, am I seeing things… does this look like a certain dead guy?

  12. Of course they’d promote dead Jon lol of course, was not expecting anything else.
At 1:16 it’s Tower of Joy footage yay

  13. HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Crap, I was watching it on fb and got on too late. But holy shiz wowie zowie!!!

  14. THE HYPE IS TOO MUCH

    I’M SHAKING

    SHAKKKKKKKKIIIIIIINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

  15. So many feels!!! Cersei ready for revenge, Mel disappointed at herself, Vaes Dothraki being HUGE this season, Tyrion visiting R&V, and oh God, Bran’s vision with the Night’s King is my favorite part of the trailer!!! And how sad Ghost beside Jon’s corpse.

  16. How many posts are we going to get on this thread? 🙂

It is a slightly subdued trailer, but it doesn’t appear to give anything major away, which is the main things (and something the first trailer failed miserably to do last year). It is still a bloody fantastic trailer, and my excitement for the season is now starting to shoot up.

No epic Dany speech this time? Who would’ve bet against that?

I’ve only watched it five times, so I better watch it again (and again).

    Thank you HBO!

  17. Great trailer! Favorite line: “I choose violence”, even though I detest Cersei generally!

    Kargaryen: Tyrion visiting R&V

Yes! Yes! I am so hyped about this.

  18. Wow so much there, please someone work on breaking it down!! I feel like a kid at Christmas rather than a grown man:-)

  19. Amazing. Each season is more cinematic than the next! And since this IS the GOT community and we nitpick everything – no eye patch on Euron!?! Durn.

  20. Oh wow there’s some Euron in there: Getting his head dunked in the sea. And him on a rope bridge, I believe.

Questions: Whose hands are on Jon’s face? Who are the two women… together?

  21. Im seeing shots of Battle of the Bastards, at 1:16, TOWER OF JOY flashback!! Remember the leaks? Jon being ressed at 1:13? Tormund next to Bolton shields?!??!? Bran vision with NIGHTS KING? Best trailer ever?

  22. I’m still kind of thrown by that song choice, which I mostly associate with its somewhat cheesecake music video.

    The High Tower looks cool.

Sansa gets a nice fur coat at some point, apparently.

Yet more evidence for the “Bran leaves the cave” theory, as in the shot with the Night’s King he is dressed in the same clothes as in the stills in Winterfell with the Three-Eyed Raven, versus the still of him mounted, where he’s got furs on.

  23. I know Season 6 is next month already, but is it just me or does it feel actually real now that we have the trailer lol?

  24. Love this trailer! Music was hauntingly beautiful. Sansa looks beautiful, Bran and Nightsking, Davos being badass, Ghost protecting Jon’s body, Mel distraught and then getting her crazy, Bran and Nightsking, and Cersei going craaaaazy. I cannot wait for this season.

  25. ;liwse;sioetj erjsgpaiet waetoawpoeit aw;jtrlw ethawoiejt w;ekjaliet wer!!!

    ^^^^
That’s me being so excited I am incoherent!!!

    Fuck Yes!!!

  26. By the Gods, I’m fucking speechless. I had already gotten the vibe that by the end of ADWD that Cersei was gonna snap between the walk of shame and the deaths of her children. And this trailer just confirmed that. And I don’t know what’s going on with Davos unsheathing Longclaw by Jon’s corpse but I got chills, anyway!

  27. Jack Bauer 24,

He’s there briefly. I have to say there’s a lot of Kings Landing stuff in there, although I love the Lancel vs The Mountain/Cersei stand-off.

  28. Wow. Pretty amazing.

The tower of joy! Euron! Davos being badass! The Battle of the Bastards! Yara is apparently bisexual! Bran has a vision of the Night’s King!

  29. BEST TRAILER EVEEEEERRRRR!!!!!!! I’m so frickin excited YAAAAAYYYYYY ?????

  30. I hope it’s Jon who gets to kill the traitors, not Davos. And I hope Ghost won’t be needed as a sacrifice to rezz Jon.

  31. Fuck yes!!!!
    Music top notch!!!
Visuals look breathtaking this looks beautiful.
    Tower of joy looks amazing.
The battle of the bastards looks amazing.
Also, was that Davos surrounded by the traitors ?
That last scene, looks like Davos trying to take jon body.
    Season 6 looks amazing.

  32. In the last scene when Davos is drawing his sword to defend Jon Snow’s corpse, Ghost is there standing over him as well. The traitors are gonna get jacked up.

  33. Holy poop, I literally did a trailer dance before playing the video.
Will follow up with first impressions, gotta rewatch like a crazy amount of times first.

  34. LoPocket,

Maybe they didn’t want to appear like a stereotypical pirate? I don’t know.

I’ve been watching the British comedy Stag over the last couple of weeks which has Pilou Asbæk in. He really is going to be a fantastic Euron. Mads who?

  35. in the last frame you can see Jon lying next to ghost Right as Davis draws his sword and you can see the other guys

  36. OMFG! I need a frame by frame. I think I’m going to cry haha.

Where does Ghost appear? Everything happened so fast lol.

  37. Okay, I’ve slowed it down and re-watched, things I noticed:

Theon does appear to run into a Bolton soldier and one of Ramsay’s hounds. A few seconds later, Brienne appears to take out said soldier.
Euron appears to be standing in the rain on a rope bridge. Look out, Balon!

The mutineers are breaking down a door. I pray to the Seven that’s not a scene of them trying to get to a locked up Ghost.

2 shots of Ned and his companions fighting the Kingsguard at the Tower of Joy. The guy playing Ned looks so much like Sean Bean.

Things don’t look so good for Tormund and the wildlings at the Battle of the Bastards.

  38. That was… unexpected.

    0:00-0:58
    Booooooring
    0:58-1:41
    FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK

  39. Also Yara kissing another woman!! Jon’s body is featured twice in that trailer too, one on a slab and another in the snow. Looks like things will kick off quickly at castle black and Mel is going to seriously doubt herself.

  40. I believe that Ghost will rip the throat out of anyone who dares to do any more violence to Jon’s body.

I can’t WAIT to see how that pans out!!

  41. Also a pretty provocative cutaway at 1:13 from Melisandre taking her clothes off to what appears to be Jon Snow’s corpse on an altar with some sort of cloth covering the top part of his face.

  42. Is that Theon or Euron getting dunked in the sea?

Why does it look like Ghost is under Jon’s dead body in the opening? Do you see the little black dog nose on his left side? Am I seeing things?? (probably)

So incredibly weird seeing Melisandre cry/not in complete control of her emotions- almost makes me feel bad for her…. almost. Is she going to screw Jon back to life? Oh man…

I’m excited to see Davos (Liam Cunningham) without Stannis- he’s always been in Stannis’ shadow. This trailer reminded me that Davos is one of my favorite characters- that ending scene w/him grabbing Longclaw made me shriek in delight.

    Distracted by Sophie Turner’s beauty.

Kind of surprised to see Jamie not incredibly pissed off at Cersei- they seem very united.

Bran with the Night’s King- I gasped! Must be a vision- still scary as hell!

I AM SO HAPPY AND SO RIDICULOUSLY EXCITED!!!

  43. I’m sure I’ll go through this thing frame-by-frame eventually, but right now I keep reaching the end and hitting the replay button. I think I’ll keep that up for another 20 minutes or so.

The smash-cutting from that Cersei line “I choose violence” right into shots of total chaos is phenomenal. Best part of the trailer. I guess that quote is this year’s version of the badass, gauntlet-throwing line that typically goes to Dany (and it’s fantastic).

I love that shot of the Night’s King menacing Bran near the end. I’m sure he’s a vision and not actually there, but still … damn.

Finally, on the heels of Kit Harington’s recent comments and them actually showing Jon’s body in the trailer, we’re due for yet another cycle of people wondering if Jon is actually gone forever. Don’t get pulled in. We all know what we have to do here.

  44. Man, this trailer was intense. i literally started yelling when i got the notification for this. Im drained lmao. But seriously, those shots of the Battle of the Bastards, Davos protecting Jons corpse at the end, Bran’s vision (?) with the Night’s King, Euron, kingsmoot. SO much to talk about its crazy.

  45. Oh baby

Only watched it 3 times but so much already

    Early special mention goes to:
*Cersei “I choose violence”, KL going to get real!
    * Reek having his head dunked at 1:10
anyone who reads the Damphai chapter books knows that Damphair literally drowns his acolytes and then revives them with CPR etc, in this case not sure if it will be literal but the Ironborn perhaps are going to “drown Reek” but revive him as Prince or even “King Theon”
    * Obviously Davos at the end, sounds suspiciously like they are going to steal Jons body!
    * Bran with the Night’s King seemingly plonking himself into his waking time/space vision things
    * Lastly, a bald man burning, is that possibly Roose Bolton burning at 23 seconds?!?!?!

  46. Who is Melisandre stripping for (again), I wonder?
Also, Cersei … SLAY MY QUEEN SLAAAY!

  47. The moment has come for me to rewrite my silly summary and upload a final version of it. Come April-July, we’ll see how much of it turns out to be true! Probably not much.

  48. Ghosts Lunch: * Reek having his head dunked at 1:10
anyone who reads the Damphai chapter books knows that Damphair literally drowns his acolytes and then revives them with CPR etc, in this case not sure if it will be literal but the Ironborn perhaps are going to “drown Reek” but revive him as Prince or even “King Theon”

    That’s Euron.

  49. Also, seems to be an over-arching theme of the characters struggling in the first half of the trailer and then their assertiveness in the second

  50. Deesensfan,

Theres a quick shot of a a kingsguard wearing Targaryen armor with two swords who apparently is fighting Ned Stark and possibly Howland Reed. Its at 1:16.

  51. Everyone’s pointing out ToJ at 1:16, but I believe all those guys drawing swords at 1:00 is Ned and the gang at ToJ as well.

  52. YES!

LOVE that they used Wicked Games as the music.

Someone review frame by frame quickly in case I missed something!!

and Go Davos! Kick ass! Is he using Jon’s sword?

  53. Man I haven’t been here in months and months, since almost last season ended to avoid spoilers and all. But I had to come after this was posted. I want to say I miss you all and this trailer got me so hyped. Brilliant, just brilliant. I cannot wait for next season. I also heard us book readers will be happier this season with the direction D&D are taking. So I cannot wait for that.

  54. Connor,

Haha, not sure what that all means, I haven’t read the books.
    Guessing its a book thing!
People kept saying it in the comments so wasn’t sure what TOWER OF JOY MEANT lol
Guess ill find out when I watch season 6

  55. Scott,

I believe it’s Kings guard armor. The targareyen is from the current king at the time, it’s a tower of joy clip

  56. @ 1:18, At first I thought it might be blind Arya but hopefully it is Arya warging! 🙂

  57. Adam,

Note that he also draws JONS sword, Longclaw. Bet that that moment will somehow end up with Jons “version” of Nissa Nissa.

  58. Hyperventilated at regal Sansa and had nearly a heart attack at Bran vs. Night’s king.

    Holy shit! That was effective!

That said. Has the complaining about Jorah finding the ring started yet? LOL 🙂 Gonna red all your comments later, but first I have to watch it another fifteen times…

    Oh, and go Davos!!!

  59. This was worth the painfull wait!!

Melisandre crying and Bran with the WW: AWESOME!!!

Cant wait to see what happens to Jorah and Arya. And of caurse Deanerys!

Hope to see more and bigger Dragons and Whitewalkers next time 🙂

  60. Most excited for:

    Davos weilding Longclaw
    Theon being ‘baptised’
Bran seeing the NK, which damn near made me shit myself.

    Least excited for:

yet more Jaime appealing to Cersei. Piss.
  61. Mel sacrificing herself to bring back Jon seems even more likely to me now (could even be why Davos draws his sword?); not her usual disrobing facial expression. Seems more like resignation and acceptance of her fate.
    Davos is totally AA, hahah.

  62. See? The trailer was going to show up eventually. 🙂

“Wicked Game” is such a good song to cover. I have several different versions on my iPod.

    The moments that grabbed me:
    -Dany returning to the Dothraki
    -Sansa
    -Davos with Longclaw
-Bran is. . .surprised by a new visitor
-Jaime. . .um, what are you up to? Waiting for the JB shipper meltdown 😉
    -Tyrion. . .

on his way to release the dragons
  63. Jeb:
How many posts are we going to get on this thread? <img
I’ve only watched it five times, so I better watch it again (and again).

    Thank you HBO!

Going to break the record for sure, all that pent up trailer anticipation and now I’m all hyped up

lol, YT clip up to 32k already so can see that being viral before too long

So much Hype running through my veins

  64. Guys:

    Jon Snow

at 1:18 Riding the central horse?

We’re talking less than a frame here but I’d recognise that TM hair anywhere.

  65. My babies!!! OMG!!!!! I just sat and watched this with a co-worker and we are going apeshit. Can’t wait to watch it at 1/4 speed. WOWOWOWWOWOW

  66. thremnir: So Davos gets the best line of S6 then

OMG … if THIS is what they let us see in the trailer, imagine how wonderfully awesome this season is going to be. I can’t wait for someone to analyze this frame by effing frame, don’t want to miss a second of it.

Thank you, thank you, thank you WoTw crew, for being so diligent! This made my otherwise marginal day!

I rarely turn on my TV during the day, but I’m going to run run run to turn it on now to see if this shows up on my great big new 4K (for the guy who was asking a few weeks ago if 4k really makes a difference, oh hell yeah it does. It was worth every penny. Even with the simplest HD shows, cooking shows, local news and such, it looks like the people are right there in the room with you. I say this with all enthusiasm, and I’m a skeptic)

Cersei: “I choose violence.” LOL, doesn’t she look strangely calm? Maybe the hype all the actors were touting is true this year. YEAH!!

  67. Sean C.,

Bran isn’t leaving the caves other than in greenseer visions, what he’s wearing is no indication of that. If it it was then it simply strengthens the point that he’s not leaving that cave, as he’s clearly either in the land of always winter (or at least in a very very cold location) sans furs/warm clothing. In which case he’d die-very quickly.

  68. on the targaryen fight scene the bottom left person is obviously ned, so the dual wielder is a kingsguard…. wonder which one

  69. GOOSEBUMPS!!!!!!!! OMFG!!!!!
O.K.. TOWER OF JOY, SANSA, BATTLE!!! MEL (WOW)
JON WITH GHOST AND DAVOOOS!! (REVENGE IS COMING, RESURRECTION IS COMING…)
    NO WORDS!!! I’M JUMPING NOW!!!

  70. Kosten: Mel sacrificing herself to bring back Jon seems even more likely to me now

That occurred to me too, as I watched the trailer.

    Scarecrow:
    Hawk,

Does one of them seem to be Asha(Yara)?

Yes, I think so too, now. Who is the other?

    Also, who is Brienne fighting?

  71. I still can’t catch my breath.
This whole being mostly Unsullied thing rocks!

    And now…

    Oh wondrous and beloved Abyss
Great Grand Maester of all gifs

    I summon thee…
    I summon thee…
    I summon thee…

  72. HOLY!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dang that is a great trailer!! Bran turning around to the Nights King ermagerrr! YES!!!! Shaking, almost in tears, sooooooo damn excited!!!!

  73. Apollo,

About Bran, that scene with the Nights King is obviously a vision. But what is the Nights King doing? Will we finally hear them speak?

  74. I don’t usually post here (I prefer to lurk) but I thought you guys would appreciate something someone on YouTube pointed out.

At 1:17 You can see Jon clad in the same brown armor he was spotted filming in towards the back of the shot (his hair gives him away).

  75. And the Night’s King looks different AGAIN -_-

Seriously, that was a great trailer, well worth the wait. Glad we got glimpses at Euron, ToJ and of course, BoB!

The only thing that I feel the need to nitpick about is Davos turning into a superhero at the end. I’ll be pissed if he takes on all those Night’s Watchmen alone, hopefully Ghost will be of help though.

  76. The music is “Wicked Game” by Chris Isaak. A song we play in our cover band – It always sends me to sleep 😀

Interesting to see that Jorah found Dany’s ring. I guess her dropping it in the last episode of Season 5 that was inevitable.

There’s going to be some ‘kick ass’ stuff coming up Season 6 for sure… Bring it on 🙂

  77. Looks like the Damphair baptising Euron, doesn’t it? Also looks like Yara likes the ladies. So much packed in this trailer!

  78. Ah, I knew it! I knew it!

Suddenly this and other GoT/ASOIAF sites seemed to crash, and I thought, it must be the trailer and heavy traffic!

And I was proved right when I finally got on WotW!

I’ll go and watch it now. Sooo excited!

  79. OMG!! Out of the freakin’ blue! Wow. I have to watch it 10 more times now. I’m so excited for this season… looks like it will be intense!! Go Davos go!!

  80. scififantasygirl:
Best day ever!!!!Best trailer ever! Someone, please analyze piece by piece for me. I’ve watched over and over but I want to make sure I’m not missing anything!

    Jon is Alive!!!

  81. Ser Boom Boom:
Who is Melisandre stripping for (again), I wonder?
Also, Cersei … SLAY MY QUEEN SLAAAY!

Maybe Melisandre is getting naked for Aliser Thorne or some other Night’s Watch traitor, to distract from Davos stealing Jon’s body?

  82. Ghost is protectively lying down at the head of Jon snow. At least I hope he is being protective and is not also dead. That would alter my working theories up a bit. And I would hate another scene of a wolf dying.

  83. Speechless!!!! That came out of nowhere. Davos rocked at the end. S… T is getting real.

  84. We even see The Battle of the Bastards and Tormund fighting, get hype! Is that Jon on the horse there for a milisecond?

  85. I would laugh my ass off (in a good way) if Little Lord Lancel Fauntleroy killed Strong. Just casually.

  86. EURON TAKING HIS HOOD OFF IS BADASS!
    BRAN AND NK!

Wow only one shot of the dragons and it was only Drogon…did that look weird to anyone else?

  87. The cinematography is simply incredible in the trailer. There are some absolutely gorgeous visuals. This is a TV show, but looks a lot better than most blockbuster films.

I personally thought that we might get the trailer this Sunday as that would be four weeks on from that teaser we got, but I’m not complained that we have it now. Maybe they didn’t announce anything because they didn’t want it to leak early? They had to release a trailer before the DVD/Blu-ray release. They had to. It helps to promote both Season 6 and the Season 5 box set that way.

  88. Ser Boom Boom,

By theory is Jon. To show how death changes Jon they could put him in the same situation as a previous season, but Jon will do something different. In S5 Jon refused Mel, now he may welcome her as a lover. It would be a really good way to show how death changes Jon.

  89. No TV show looks this cinematic… and we may go another decade before we see any show look this cinematic again.

  90. Was that The Iron Fleet in a storm??!!

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  91. The mutineers are breaking down a door. I pray to the Seven that’s not a scene of them trying to get to a locked up Ghost.

    BunBunStark,

That’s Alliser and co trying to break down the door to the room.where Davos is keeping Jon

  92. At 1:06, who is that hooded person on that horse hitting that guy with what looks like a lantern or something?

  93. I guess a flayed man has no hair, but

by the baldy nature of the upside flayed man, the likelihood of the displayed corpses being Roose and Stannis just went up.
  94. Connor:
At 1:04, who is that hooded person on that horse hitting that guy with what looks like a lantern or something?

    Lady Stoneheart

    (Sorry, couldn’t resist;))

  95. Scott,

Definitely seing it. The helmet and armour design makes me peg him as Kingsguard though he’s not wearing a cloak. Absolutely the fight at The Tower of Joy.

  96. Pigeon:
    Most excited for:

    Least excited for:

    That wasnt Theon ! 😉

And yeah, that Bran shot is thrilling ! Probably communication with them at last ! Oh, how long I have been waiting for this to happen !
A glimpse at their culture and civilization !

  97. harlequeen:
We even see The Battle of the Bastards and Tormund fighting, get hype! Is that Jon on the horse there for a milisecond?

I would recognize that hair anywhere.

  98. You definitely see someone who looks like Jon on horseback in that big fight sequence.

  99. Cersei gets crazyyyyyy, i was waiting for this!! Be a bitch dear… you are villain, don’t demand sympathy from anyone!
Also really interesting that the show will not make Jaime mad for Lancel…or maybe in this scene he doesn’t know about Lancel, and Cersei will try to manipulate him with that ear bite later.. Will Jaime finally reject Cersei’s sex this season???
He will go to Riverlands anyway….the problem is why he will be upset..maybe Cersei messing with Tommen?
Why is Mel taking her clothes off? Why Asha kisses a another girl?
    Euron doesn’t have eyepatch :-/
Why is Jon’s dead body traveling around?
    Sansa wears amazing mascara.

  100. It may be impossible, but anyone who can identify the person who’s burning on the cross will instantly become a hero in the fandom.

  101. 1:13 Dead Jon on some sort of stone altar and what looks a lot like Melisandre’s hands, one on his chest and the other covering his eyes…. WOOHOO!

  102. I think there is a lot of footage for episode 1 in there, particularly at Castle Black and likely with Danny, Jamie/Cersei too.

  103. Also towards the end, the Dothraki are charging and a group of males and females is chanting/banging on a table. Do we have any ideas? Daylight Dothraki battle scene and religious ritual?

  104. Connor:
    Jack Bauer 24,
Is it just me, or does Drogon look bigger?

I think the same size. That shot is just really weird though. No close up and looks like he is flying backwards. No Viserion or Rhaegal either. CGI must be very incomplete.

  105. Well, that got me pumped! It all looks awesome. That knight at 1:16 is definitely in Targaryen armor. Bran with the Night’s King was a surprise. Also; TEAM SANSA!

    The North Remembers!!

  106. I think it’s safe to say from lining up a few frames that;

Mel, Davos, and DeadJon are locked in a room with the loyal night’s watch men. Thorne and his crownies (badumtss) are breaking into the room to stop whatever they’re doing.

Brienne saves Sansa and Theon, who are cornered by Bolton men with some big brown dogs.

The Tyrells? have an army at the foot of the sept.

And of course…. the most important part of all… Franken Gregor is taking on the church. Sandor has found faith. Cleganebowl confirmed.

    All Men Must Hype.

  107. Man… Ghost isnt doing a single movement… he’s completely stiff in that fraction of a second at the end where we see him…

I’m probably scared for nothing, but damn, I hope Ghost doesnt bite the dust !

  108. OMG ONE OF MY FAVORITE SHOWS AND SONGS FROM THE 90’S ALL ROLLED INTO ONE AWESOME TRAILER!

  109. Jack Bauer 24,

Yep, he is slightly different. There’re always refining that sort of thing. Season 5 looked nothing like Season 4, and this is slightly (not quite as much as the disparity between 4 and 5) different again.

  110. The first time I watched it, I thought that was Jon Snow putting his hand on his forehead.

  111. Harry,

But in the last shot Davos is about to fight the Nights Watch men in the same room Jon is in? Or are they the loyal ones to Jon and theyre getting ready to fight the mutineers?

  112. I haven’t been on here in months, but by God this got me excited. Seeing Davos pick up Longclaw and deliver a badass line (instead of Daenerys, for once) was just incredible. Plus, I love watching his scenes with Mel, and it was refreshing to see her show some emotion for once.
I’m curious to see where Sansa ends up this season. It looks like she’ll be staying in the North, but it would be really cool for her to go to the Iron Islands with Theon.
I think it’s time for Cersei and Jaime to break-up already. There plots got more interesting in the book after they became estranged, and I think the same could be true here.
Now on a side note, who were those two girls making out at one point? Was that Mel?

  113. I wonder what that nasty Jaime/Cersei stuff at 1:09 is about??
Also is Tommen and Cersei against each other in court or what was that?
Weird to see Melisandre crying. And Ghost is also dead it seems, how sad.

  114. Watched it slower.

0:16 – Cersei crying at the dock. Must be the return of Jaime with dead Myrcella.

0:18 – Can’t completely tell, but appears to be Davos standing over a wood pyre in the snow. I suspect this might be Stannis, not Jon.

0:23 – The flayed burning corpse on the X flying over the battle. Not idea who that is, but height and build consistent with both Stannis and Roose. Definitely adult male.

0:42 – High Sparrow talking of overthrowing an empire. No idea who he is talking to, but it’s someone wearing armor or a helmet.

0:46 – Sansa in a fur coat in someone’s great hall, looking like she’s taking charge.

0:48 – Tyrion with a torch, probably in the catacombs visiting or releasing the dragons.

1:00 – Ned and companions drawing swords at the Tower of Joy.

1:00 (immediately after) – Ser Alliser and company trying to break down a door with an ax. Maybe trying to get at Ghost? Apparently unsuccessfully because he see him later.

1:08 – The Queen’s quarters in Mereen getting destroyed by some blast or gust of wind coming from outside.

    1:08 – Theon encountering a Bolton soldier.

    1:09 – Euron being drowned.

1:10 – Brienne slicing the throat of a Bolton soldier, possibly the same one trying to attack Theon.

1:12 – Melisandre taking her clothes off next to a fire.

1:13 – Jon Snow on an altar with a person’s hand on his forehead, not a cloth. Could be Melisandre. They’re small hands.

1:15 – Yara making out with a naked woman wearing beads in her hair.

1:16 – Euron uncloaking on the rope bridge.

1:16 – Kingsguard fighting Ned and Howland Reed with two swords completely covered in someone else’s blood.

1:17 – Tormund right up against a wall of Bolton shields.

1:17 – Can’t tell, but that definitely looks like Jon riding into battle, obscured by a falling white horse.

1:18 – Margaery on her knees reaching out to the High Sparrow.

1:19 – Tyrell soldiers with someone in a ridiculous headdress (doesn’t look fat enough to be Mace) at the steps of the sept.

1:19 – Sansa running through a forest in the snow.

1:21 – Bran turning around to see the Night’s King with his horsemen behind him.

1:35 – Davos drawing Longclaw over Jon Snow’s corpse, laying on the same altar from before, with Ghost standing at the head of it, surrounded by other brother’s also drawing. This doesn’t look like they’re fighting him, but more likely he’s leading them against the mutineers.

  115. Eternal,

from the reddit thread on this topic so not my original thought but,the consensus is that the dual wielder is hightower? not Arthur dane as the guy looks pretty big(mountain sized) and i didnt think dane was noted for dual wielding

  116. Sullied by Knight:
    YES!

LOVE that they used Wicked Games as the music.

Someone review frame by frame quickly in case I missed something!!

and Go Davos!Kick ass!Is he using Jon’s sword?

Yes. If you look, that’s Longclaw.

  117. Watched it a half dozen times now, and I’m incenced about the dialogue we hear from Jaime – he sounds like mad Cersei from the books! Will the show continue to murder Jaime’s book arc?! Wasn’t he bad enough already? Can’t Cersei finally be as bad as she is? Or maybe that’s from ep. 1 and Jaime gets back on track later.

The other bit of dialogue was from Ser Davoooos!!! I love him! “I’m not much of a fighter but I am now” (or wtte), with dead JS on the slab in the foreground. Whoooah! I love Davos!!!

  118. Watched at full speed twice, then did a frame by frame and typed my first thoughts. Here goes… (I can’t believe how much there was in a minute and half)

Tyrion with a torch (releasing dragons????) and voice over “you’re in the great game now, the great game is terrifying”
Short shot of airborn dragon, Drogon?
Lancel with other faith militant, “order your man to step aside or there will be violence”

Bran, turning and seeing Night’s King
Davos, unshielding Longclaw, “I’ve never been much of a fighter, ___ you’re about to see” (for some reason those couple of words don’t come through for me.)

  119. harlequeen,

Hahaha, you made me literally LOL for almost a minute with this comment. Thank you. My day sucked until this trailer came out!

  120. OK GUYS THIS IS REVIEW!!: in 0:22 ramsey finally burning .in 0:46 sansa and jon will capture winterfell for the first time.0:48 tyrion is going to free dragon 1:00 Ned Stark on Tower of Joy Scene For Jon snow Parentig.1:03 Starks vs Boltons. 1:05 Arya is training and her eyes after this scene is going to be well. in 1:09 Euron will be king .1:12 !!!! JON SNOW FINALLY ALIVE AND AN AMAZING SEX SCENE.1:!5 Euron is going to KIll His Brother by trowing him of Tower.1:16 Tower OF JOY AND Ned After Killing Him WIll See Jon Targarian.1:17 Jon ON Center Of Riding.1:22 Bran is going to fight with king of darkness!! .1:35 Revenge !!!. Enjoy S6

  121. I loved it!!! S6 looks amazing, so so excited. Did I see Mel about to take off her dress again, who knew she’d need to be naked to resurrect Jon? ☺

  122. At the final part of the trailer with Davos picking up Longclaw, does Ghost look dead? or just sleeping next to Jons body and that Jon is warged into Ghost and awaiting the resurrection!!!!

  123. Alice:

    Calling it right now:
Davos steals Jon’s corpse to bring it to Melisandre, then proceeds to bang her so she can use her magical vagina magic to bring him back to life.

    Muahahahaha! :°D

  124. Kirsty Snow,

There are lots of Northmen with long hair who will be riding horses this season, so it can’t be guaranteed, of course. But it does look like it could be him. It would be a delightful troll on HBO’s part to feature Jon’s dead body several times over the course of the trailer and then stick in one, distant out-of-focus, post-resurrection shot of him in there for the obsessives to find.

I’ll say it is him. Why not? It’s more fun to believe that, and we’re all in good spirits right now! 🙂

  125. I don’t think Ghost looks dead. I think Ghost looks like Summer did when he was protecting Bran when Bran was in a coma. He’s just lying there protecting Jon.

  126. About that scene in the battle…it may be Jon but i doupt is Kit.
Actors use stunts for that scenes so no matter how much we try, we will not see Kit there.

Who is the guy with the hood that burns people? (Except from stunt of course )

  127. HOLLLYY SHIIIITTTT! The scale of the Battle! Euron! Ser Davos being bad-ass! Everything! Damn. And a trailer out of nowhere!? All of my friends will be hearing about this whether they like GoT or not!

  128. Ghosts Lunch:

    Early special mention goes to:
    * Reek having his head dunked at 1:10
anyone who reads the Damphai chapter books knows that Damphair literally drowns his acolytes and then revives them with CPR etc, in this case not sure if it will be literal but the Ironborn perhaps are going to “drown Reek” but revive him as Prince or even “King Theon”

I slowed the video down and, though the resemblance between the two actors is remarkable, I’m fairly certain that’s Pilou as Euron being dunked, not Theon.

(Random tangent: I would find it lulz-worthy if they worked in a joke about how Balon’s wife cheated with Euron, since Theon looks sooooo much more like Euron)

  129. The Drowned Goddess: Davos, unshielding Longclaw, “I’ve never been much of a fighter, ___ you’re about to see” (for some reason those couple of words don’t come through for me.)

“I’ve never been much of a fighter, so I apologize for what you’re about to see…”

  130. I wonder if 1:01 – 1:03 of Tommen (and Kingsguards?) and Cersei (with Strong and Qyburn?) are from the same scene? Kind of looks like a court or something. I can’t image Cersei going against Tommen though? The other way around would be possible though since Margaery cast a love spell on him.

  131. Ok, that was awesome! Especially all the Davos/Mel/Jon/NW scenes. Davos’ last line made squeal so hard, I love that guy!

Is that Euron on a bridge? Bye bye, Balon, eh?

Great choice of music as usual!

  132. Mi:
I wonder if 1:01 – 1:03 of Tommen (and Kingsguards?) and Cersei (with Strong and Qyburn?) are from the same scene? Kind of looks like a court or something. I can’t image Cersei going against Tommen though? The other way around would be possible though since Margaery cast a love spell on him.

I think the same…. also high sparrow maybe be talking to Jaime…
I can’t see future in the Lannister family, Cersei will go against Tommen and Jaime against Cersei after that.

  133. Here are the screencaps I’ve gathered, https://www.dropbox.com/sh/fi5akwu0ayczj8j/AABiwEKGP2SJDIZbtXajOy9Ea?dl=0. Click on one and scroll through.

There are lots of questions: some questions in the names. Who are the loyalists with Davos, Jon, and Ghost? Is that Alliser breaking down the door? Who is with him? Is it the door to the ice cells? Is that where Davos is hiding Jon? And so many more questions, many of which will be answered as I read back, I’m sure.

  134. My friends absolutely hate any kind of spoiler, it’s so great to come and sit on here and read other peoples theories and discuss everything frame by frame. Worth a little wait!

  135. Sullied by Knight,

It’s not the same ring, Dany has worn that ring since Season 1, I believe in one of the making of videos for Season 3, Emilia said it was meant to be Dany’s mother’s. The ring she dropped was something she acquired in Season 5.

  136. Ghost is standing at the head of the table where Jon lays. You’re seeing the top of his back & he is facing towards Davos etc. Ghost very much alive in this shot & probably protecting Jon as I’m sure Davos is as well.

I’m so loving Davos right now! He & Ghost gonna take this shit down!

  137. The scene with Sansa’s face and someone says ‘we are in the great game…..’ who’s voice was that? It’s not Petyr!! , and why is she wearing a black fure? Is she in the Castel black?

  138. Ginevra,

Ghost doesnt move at all in that part with Davos taking Longclaw. Could Jon be warged into Ghost and is sleeping next to his body waiting to be brought back?

  139. Completely unexpected and completely awesome! Davos for LC, for sure. Cersei chooses violence. This is all very fine indeed.

  140. Im wondering what situation would make Davos draw Longclaw…
Damn you HBO, you managed to make me even more excited for Season 6 now!

  141. So Melisandre will rapes Jon back to life? I’m sososo happy to see Carice boobs again, but just having sex with his corpse and he will lives again? Come onnnnn…..

  142. Maggie,

Kit rarely uses doubles. The only times he has is when he broke his ankle in S3 and in S4 when he was thrown across a fire pit while fighting Styr in the Battle of Castle Black.

  143. Oh fuck yeah, well worth the wait.

    Davos unsheathing LC!
    Melisandre nekked aginnnn!
    Bran and the NK WTF!!!
Crows Eye, drowned and rising again!
Battle lines! Archers and shield walls!
    Robert Strong!
    ToJ!
    Sansa looking like a boss!

Just not stoked on Jaime kissin Cersei’s ass anymore. Interested to see how they play out this season.

Cannot fucking wait to get home and watch on a big screen.

  144. Apollo:
Bran isn’t leaving the caves other than in greenseer visions, what he’s wearing is no indication of that. If it it was then it simply strengthens the point that he’s not leaving that cave, as he’s clearly either in the land of always winter (or at least in a very very cold location) sans furs/warm clothing. In which case he’d die-very quickly.

No, the shot with the Night’s King and the still in Winterfell are visions; he’s dressed the same, and clearly standing. Compare that with the first Bran still we got, where he’s got a thick fur cloak/coat on, and he’s leaning on the mount in a way somewhat suggestive of his being crippled. The first two suggest to me the latter is not a vision.

    The Blood of Winterfull,

That voice is Tyrion from the next shot.

  145. seems like the waif is hitting arya.

and also about davos pulling out the sword while jon snow’s body in the background:

only death can pay for life

  146. Bring on season 6! An amazing trailer that doesn’t give too much away and even manages to increase the hype. Well done HBO! Also a lot of people keep commenting that Ghost is dead in the last scene, which I seriously doubt. I do believe he is going to die during the resurrection process though.

  147. Deesensfan,

Are you sure you want to know? I remember you are Unsullied.
I’ll try to give a hint without actually explaining: it shows who are Jon’s parents.

  148. YOU’RE IN A GREAT GAME NOW AND GREAT GAMES ARE TERRIFYING

This feeling this excitement it’s by far the most important thing in my life right now.

For the love of god April just be here.

  149. Looks like there will be 7 Northerns in ToJ scene. In that case, I can’t see a 7 vs Arthur Dayne, it would be too much… Hightower and Whent CONFIRMED? I was sure as hell that it would be a 2 or 3 vs 1, this hypes me so much.

  150. Deesensfan:
    Whats tower of Joy?

If you don’t know what the Tower of Joy is you are best to stick to totally non-spoiler threads until we get to that part in the season. It is a point of major speculation and spoilery stuff. The show runners were able to express their interpretation of the Tower of Joy events to get permission to do the series.

At this point you are best served by waiting 2 months and watching it.

  151. I think it’s Dolorous Edd closing Jon’s eyes- if you pause it, it’s a guy’s hands- slightly longer hair in frame and you see black leather too- so not Melisandre.

The shot of Ghost protectively snuggled around Jon’s body makes me choke up. Jeez I need to get a grip.

  152. Decent trailer. certainly whetted the appetitie. Some stuff looks like it’s shaping up pretty well. Some stuff looks like it could go one way or another.
Also, Asha/Yara is into women now? Did they take Qarl the Maid too literally?!

  153. Sean C.:
Yet more evidence for the “Bran leaves the cave” theory, as in the shot with the Night’s King he is dressed in the same clothes as in the stills in Winterfell with the Three-Eyed Raven, versus the still of him mounted, where he’s got furs on.

The fact that he’s standing here points to a vision, actually, since he will never walk again.

  154. AMAZING!!!

OK so now I’ve managed to breathe again and watched it like 10 times there are a few things of note:

1;06…What/ who is that? Use of flames for combat indicates a wight/WW? There’s also a fallen horse to the right…could this be the same scene with Meera? Could this be…Coldhands!?? Or another lost Stark?

1:18 Some women attacking something in what looks like crypts…and is that Cersei on the left? Could it be the little birds?

Mace Tyrell leading the Tyrell assault on the Sept.

What is Tormund looking back at when he should be facing the Bolton shields?

Definitely Alister Thorne and co breaking down a door..assume this is the scene where Davos unsheaths Longclaw?

Tyrion sets the dragons free. Duh.

Sansa fleeing in the forest/ Theon caught by Bolton men/ dogs (does he stay to let Sansa escape), followed by Brienne to the rescue and also…QOTN!

1:19 Dothraki in battle.. could this be at the gates of Mereen?

Bran seeing not just the Nights King but other WWs in the background!

    HYPE!

Can’t wait for the frame by frame breakdown from you guys 🙂

  155. Ginevra,

The point is that the Night’s King shot and the Winterfell shot are visions, whereas in the other still he’s dressed differently (and he looks like he’s leaning in a way suggesting he doesn’t have the use of his legs).

  156. Great Trailer!! Such a surprise! Cannot wait any more! Just finished rewatching season 1 episode 4 and wanted to check for the summary here and THEN — THE TRAILER!!!! Unbelievable!

  157. Brandon:
    Maggie,

Kit rarely uses doubles. The only times he has is when he broke his ankle in S3 and in S4 when he was thrown across a fire pit while fighting Styr in the Battle of Castle Black.

I know about the stunt in the sex scene, but i don’t talk about fighting, this is a very demanding scene on a running horse they wouldn’t let him do it unless he was trained stunt. They can’t afford to get actors injured.
Plus it doesn’t really look like him,the hair are straight and longer than Kit’s so i guess it could be a stunt or someone else.

  158. High Sparrow:
Looks like there will be 7 Northerns in ToJ scene. In that case, I can’t see a 7 vs Arthur Dayne, it would be too much… Hightower and Whent CONFIRMED? I was sure as hell that it would be a 2 or 3 vs 1, this hypes me so much.

I’ve seen the trailer again and it looks like there are 6 Northerns in the scene…
On another note: Was Ned left handed?

  159. Looking forward to Daenerys finally doing a sexy scene again!
Notice that hand with ring near the fire??
Earlier on Jorah finds that very ring. Seems like Dany will try to seduce some horse lord and Jorah later finds that ring!

  160. I definitely see Jon riding into battle. I’d recognize THAT HAIR anywhere.

  161. Danielle Stark: The shot of Ghost protectively snuggled around Jon’s body makes me choke up. Jeez I need to get a grip.

Take heart! You aren’t the only one.

  162. I may be nitpicking, but I am a little upset that Euron seems to be sans eyepatch and blue lips. They must be merging him with Victarion.

  163. Tell me if I’m going crazy but could it be Benjen burning that (wight I assume)?

Who else would be riding north of the wall burning wights??

  164. I have looked at it frame by frame

In terms on Jon snow at least….
Seems like the Lord of light needed Davos to protect Jons body
We see alister Thorne and watchmen breaking into a room (I think trying to get Jons body)
Mel place hand on Jons eyes and wounds.

I think from this it’s safe to say it leaves it quite open for a resurrection

  165. Still trying to figure out who Davos is talking to at the end… ‘I apologize for what you’re about to see’

    Jon? not sure why
Other NW brothers? they’re all warriors, this is what they do
Shireen somehow?!? seems like the only one he wouldn’t want to see him be violent

  166. Lord Dayne,

I’m not reading too much into it at the moment. If it is the case then it’s gimmicky and a cheap way to the tittilate the audience.

  167. Now that I’ve had time to reflect a tad, I think that with so much emphasis on Davos and Melisandre at the Wall, Jon’s resurrection is all but confirmed.
    1. Why would Davos care about what happened to and about Jon’s corpse…except if it was needed for something and someone…
    2. Melisandre’s “it was all a lie” breakdown to Davos. It seems to be leading to maybe another flame revelation for her that it wasn’t a lie so much as a misrepresentation of the truth. Perhaps Davos will even be with her and for the first time see what she is seeing in the flames as well which would give sense to his actions with and around Jon’s corpse because he’d understand what needed to be done.

Question….a very sad question, but does it seem like maybe Ghost could be dead? I would think he would be animated and growling at anyone who would come near Jon’s body but he was just laying there…kind of like a corpse himself. And if he is, when Jon’s resurrected do you think it might be possible Ghost could be resurrected with him? I would hate the loss of another direwolf, especially one as prominent as Ghost?

  168. Dragonmcmx,

my take on that is that the nights watchmen in the room are loyal to davos/mel/john and this scene is Right before the door gets knocked down(note alister thorne is NOT in the room ,no way ghost (who is standing ) would not rip the closest one to him to shreds if he perceived them as threats to john ,also note his posture ears back and pointed at the door behind davos not at any of the people in the room. so i think this is RIGHT before the big reveal

  169. Lord Snow,

He’s about to kill the NW men guarding Jon’s body so he can steal it. Effectively, he’s apologizing to them before he kills them, hence why they react when he draws the sword.

  170. Cool. So, here is the really big question I have for Bran Seeing the Night King: when is it? Is Bran seeing something in the far ago past that shows us the “why” of the Walkers and possibly the “what/who/why” of Azor Ahai? Might Bran actually be seeing this from AA’s perspective? ( If you think about it, then late this season is the time to do it: that gives them two seasons to build on that. And, really, Bran “seeing” it is far and away the best way to give it: that way, it is shown , not told. (The book might well tell: but books can get away with that.)

Alternatively, do the Walkers also exist in the “dream state” or whatever it is in which Bran & the other Old Gods exist while plugged into the Trees? One thing that has gotten little attention is how the Walkers ever communicate with mortals, as they do not seem to speak either the Common or Old Tongue, or any language that humans could easily learn. Perhaps this is how they talk to us, or at least our representatives. This, too, would be another way to show us what they are, what they want/need, and why they have returned.

Heh, it is amusing to think that things we have been debating since Bill Clinton was president might finally get answered.

Ginevra: Who are the loyalists with Davos, Jon, and Ghost?

It’s tough to tell in the shot, but I think that one of them might be Edd. I am betting that Mel and Ghost combined might be saving them: some spectacular magic as she revives Jon and then blasts their way out. Still, I am betting that Thorne & Co. are around for a while to be a thorn in Jon’s side.

  171. Jack Bauer 24:
Why is Yara in a brothel?

Probably not a brothel, just Yara making out with some chick at the Kingsmoot.

    Lord Snow,

He’s apologizing because he’s a bad fighter. Not for the violence.

  172. Nymeria Warrior Queen: Oh wondrous and beloved Abyss
Great Grand Maester of all gifs
    I summon thee…
    I summon thee…
    I summon thee…

LOL best thing is … it worked:

    Abyss: Nymeria Warrior Queen,
Working on it. Will take some time, a lot of footage

I’m hanging out with you, hon.

  173. Pigeon,

if you look at the later scene in the trailer(dont have a time stamp) but when robert strong is walking her into the throne room it looks like he has some new dents in his armour from what looks like a mace or a club like the ones the sparrows use

  174. I hope we don’t only see the WW’s in visions…..what else could they do this season?

  175. I think the men in the room with Davos & Ghost are Jon loyalists. Davos apologizes to them as he is about to attack their brothers (Allistar Thorne et al) as they come through the door. Ghost is standing ready at the head of the table where Jon is and his hackles ate up – probably because Thorne & crew are trying to bust it down.

That is what makes sense to me. They are all there in that room to protect Jon’s body at all costs.

Ohhh, Thorn is in BIG trouble, big!

  176. The 8th of March wasn’t my favourite day (bad memories), but now it’s the best! Thanks, HBO! Great present for us women 🙂

  177. Ghosts Lunch:

    * Lastly, a bald man burning, is that possibly Roose Bolton burning at 23 seconds?!?!?!

if you think even for a second that could be roose bolton then you should stop watching GOT altogether because you haven’t understand anything. If ramasy does that…. then he won’t have any army… more so he will be executed by his own house for being a traitor.

  178. OMG that is amazing.

“I choose violence”… Badass Davos… Jon’s body everywhere… Mereen under attack… Tower of Joy… Euron on the bridge of Pyke…

Too much for my heart, I’m dead.

  179. Next question…

who’s voice is that saying “he’s gone” at 0:08? Kinda sounds like Davos, could be Edd I guess but I don’t think so

who else could it be? Thorne?

  180. That’s the best trailer I’ve seen in my life. Or perhaps just overhyped.

Worried for Ghost, though. Seems that might be the price to pay….

  181. VisceralVarys: Ghost is standing ready at the head of the table where Jon is and his hackles ate up – probably because Thorne & crew are trying to bust it down.

Is he? Ghost looks pretty inert. I hope he’s not dead. Of course, a dog could be lying across a dead master in grief, too.

  182. So Jon’s body is left to rot there in the beginning? There is nobody there but him.

  183. Night’s King had some work done, that’s all – perhaps a nose job from too much ‘snow’.

  184. There’s a scary scene at 1:18… Some women punching someone on the ground with rocks in their hands…

I hope it’s not how Margeary dies!!
  185. We’re “certain” that’s Daenerys putting her hands on the fire ring, right? You know, since she wears a left index finger ring and still has it in the previous shot of her we’ve seen with hands bound on the Dothraki dais… May I guess that she either pushes it over or throws it to start the fire that burns the tent we saw pictures of during filming?

  186. Sean C.,

Were he apologizing to them before he kills them, wouldn’t he be apologizing for what he’s about to do, not what they’re about to see? I think those in the room are safe. Those trying to get through the door are entirely another matter, and I think that’s to what he’s referring.

  187. Just a couple more thoughts:

I refuse to believe that Ghost is dead. I’m sure he’s just depressed and lying by his mostly dead human counterpart.
Howland Reed should be a very small man. I didn’t see anyone in the flashback scenes that was very small.

  188. 1:19 almost positive that is Arya warging… looks like the same eyes Bran and the Wildling warg made

    Nymeria and super-pack hype!

  189. last words of the trailer, Davos: «apologies for what you are about to see» Haha. Is it directed at us? Not afraid! (yes I am. excited now, but VERY afraid…)

  190. I’ve changed my mind. It’s not Davos who says “he’s gone”, and Davos isn’t about to kill Ghost. When he draws his sword, all the NW men in the room go for their swords – they’re’ going to fight off the traitors who are trying to get to Jon’s body and prevent the resurrection, and Davos is apologising for his lousy fighting skills. Still a bit worried for Ghost, but less so after watching this for the 23rd time.

  191. roughly at 1.18 you see children beating/stabbing someone. Could this be the death of Pycelle or Kevan Lannister?

  192. Wimsey: Is he?Ghost looks pretty inert.I hope he’s not dead.Of course, a dog could be lying across a dead master in grief, too.

Maybe the NW who betrayed Jon are at the door and Davos is apologizing to Jon’s loyalists because he’s going to kill the traitors. Ghost could be preparing to attack.

  193. At 1:17 when the horse fells the rider behind (riding on the white horse) is Jon Snow in Stark uniform. Can any one else confirm it?

  194. Jack Bauer 24: So Jon’s body is left to rot there in the beginning? There is nobody there but him

So it would seem. Of course, it is possible that something else called them away immediately: for example, things could be up with the Wildlings. Or they might have run right off to elect Throne Lord Douchebag. Alternatively, they might be hunting Ghost or have been chased off by Ghost (although I suspect that the lot of them would be able to kill the Direwolf.)

Really, there are lots and lots and lots of possibilities.

Nymeria Warrior Queen: Were he apologizing to them before he kills them, wouldn’t he be apologizing for what he’s about to do, not what they’re about to see?

Besides, Nationalists would not be in the room with Ghost (unless Ghost also is dead).

  195. Ghost is alive! He’s lying in similar fashion to Summer with Bran while he was in his coma season 1. I think he’s alive and still protecting his master. I think that’s a good “sign” too- Ghost knows he’s not gone for good!

  196. Tyrval:
I may be nitpicking, but I am a little upset that Euron seems to be sans eyepatch and blue lips. They must be merging him with Victarion.

This has made me BEYOND happy! Now we can finally put the ridiculous hope to bed that he’d be wearing an eyepatch/blue beard/ wooden leg/ shoulder parrot. GRRM totally screwed up on that depiction so I’m pleased D&D saw sense. Sheesh.

  197. Jon Snow’s Curling Iron: Maybe the NW who betrayed Jon are at the door and Davos is apologizing to Jon’s loyalists because he’s going to kill the traitors.

My bet is that he’s apologizing for what is going to be ugly swordsmanship.

  198. I’m loving fierce Davos and the loyal Night’s Watchmen holding off the traitors to protect Jon’s body for the resurrection.

  199. Connor,

    – the latter, I think. They’re going for their swords, to fight off the assholes who are trying to get into the room, presumably led by Thorne. Hopefully this scene ends with Jon opening his eyes, stunning Thorne into silence right before Davos plunges Longclaw into his face.

  200. Wimsey: Is he?Ghost looks pretty inert.I hope he’s not dead.Of course, a dog could be lying across a dead master in grief, too.

I’m certain he is standing & those are definitely some raised hackles. It’s an odd angle but Ghost is now huge, he wouldn’t fit lying on that table.

  201. It might be a coincidence, but there might be a small foreshadowing in here. We see Melisandre about to do her annual literal uncloaking. They then cut straight to inert Jon. Of course, many of us expect a figurative uncloaking of Melisandre to save Jon: so, they might be telling us that there. (Good foreshadowing is opaque!)

Or: it could just be a coincidence.

  202. guys Shireen was teaching Davos to read before she passed, I’m wondering if Davos found some sort of book/letter about Azor Ahai and put two and two together? Otherwise why protect Jon so closely?
    Just throwing it out there!

  203. I thought I saw Petyr standing in the snow, but no one has mentioned it. I’d better watch again. Probably 20th time already. 🙂

  204. Thronetender,

Pull up a chair and put up your feet. It’s a trailer party!!!

    Woooooooooooooooo-hooooooooooooooooooooo!!!

Oh, and I had meant to go back and edit in the conjuring arm motions I was making when I was summoning Abyss (they really were quite fancy), but I kept getting a Database Error (which would usually annoy me, but I realized it was all the people so excited for the trailer, so it just made me smile).

  205. Wimsey: Might Bran actually be seeing this from AA’s perspective?

I don’t think he sees from anyone’s point of view.

He is seeing things as recorded by the trees. I believe when Bran is being shown to have a vision he is himself still. People he is watching can sense him as his presence and power grow stronger but he is inserting himself there like a ghost based on the trees memories.

But what the hell do I know. I will have to wait until it airs on HBO for confirmation, unless George beats them to the punch! (I couldn’t resist)

  206. ok, i’m thinking Ghost is not dead. Ghost has stark white fur. Had the mutineers killed him we would see blood on his fur in that final shot.

  207. VisceralVarys,

Good point. They probably would not have put in the sounds, yet: and, besides, Ghost is an oddly quiet wolf. (They have not made him mute: but would have just looked wrong on TV.)

OK, I wanna see the Direwolf eat some crow…..

Seriously, I wonder if there will be some Ghost/Drogon parallels this season. I mean, what parallels are left that they can possible do for Jon & Daeny, anyway? 😀

  208. OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG

So much in there. But holy moly there be GHOST!!!!

And here I though today was going to be dull!

    Can’t wait for the breakdown!

  209. Making the 8: But what the hell do I know. I will have to wait until it airs on HBO for confirmation, unless George beats them to the punch! (I couldn’t resist)

Good point: we don’t know that Old Gods see things through anyone other than the tree when they do the Weirnet. That stated, the Night King seemed aware of Bran: but that could just be a trick of the camera shot, which often is done in these sort of “I’m not really here” types of scenes. At any rate, it would be a convenient way to have the Walkers communicate to the audience, which badly needs to happen soon.

  210. Some more things I noticed:

Goddammit NOBODY has mentioned Baelish in Wintersville!

The guy at the back where Davos draws longclaw looks like the same guy bashing the door in (could be wrong tough).

Ghost does NOT move at all in any of 3 or so the frames. Like, at all.

1:06….That is DEFINITELY Meera huddling down in the snow where that guy attacks someone/thing with fire! This is the same scene where we saw a shot of Meera from a few days back and where she’s heard/ seen something. OMG!!! Could it really be???

  211. Apollo: GRRM totally screwed up on that depiction so I’m pleased D&D saw sense. Sheesh.

Naw, B&W are just too stupid to realize that Euron is Dario. Wait, I mean the High Sparr… Howland Ree… *catapult*

  212. Sean C.,

Fair enough. I’m just getting to a point where I’ve calmed down enough I can begin to process it. 🙂

  213. All around good trailer! Teases a lot, but doesn’t really tell me anything juicy like past trailers.

Also probably because we’re in completely uncharted book territory now…(yes elements of AFFC/ADWD will still come but chronologically we are in uncharted waters)

  214. Apollo: Ghost does NOT move at all in any of 3 or so the frames. Like, at all.

Yeah, he does seem very still. However, a dog in grief OR a dog bracing for attack can be very, very still. And as others have noted, there is no blood on Ghost.

Of course, maybe Mel will revive them both.

  215. Shy Lady Dragon,

Hiii there, happy international women’s day my friend, just wanted to say hello and that i missed you and WotW so much.

Now let’s get back to watching the trailer over and over again!

  216. The scene at 1:05, with the hooded figure on the horse swinging a lantern or something at a wight and if you pause it at the right moment and if you look to the right, it looks like Meera behind that pile. Could that me Coldhands saving her? or Benjen Stark?!!

  217. Just noticed a little continuity discrepancy in the trailer.

Dany in the Blue is walking, she looks up at the horse statue of Vaes Dothrak and camera pans away and you can see Dany standing still, but then camera goes back to Dany and she’s walking again then stands still.

Hopefully in the actual show she stands still, then looks up and camera pans away so you can see the horse statue and her standing still. But in this trailer the continuity definitely is fucked up.

    That is my ONLY nitpicking.

    Besides that I LOVED it.

Love the music, then Cersie is like “I choose violence” and the war drums and action shots come.

And fucking Davos with that amazing capper, perfection!

  218. Sullied by Knight,

the guy burning on the cross? doesn’t look like Tormund to me. Looks more like Stannis, but that’s impossible…..also looks a bit like Roose, but that’s surely ridiculous, that the Bolton army would be lining up behind the man who is murdering Lord Bolton. It’s a slim guy – the baldness means nothing if he has been flayed. That’s about all we’ve got. I’m stumped on this one. Any more theories? Who is on the burning cross?

  219. Wimsey:
    VisceralVarys,

Good point. They probably would not have put in the sounds, yet: and, besides, Ghost is an oddly quiet wolf.(They have not made him mute: but would have just looked wrong on TV.)

OK, I wanna see the Direwolf eat some crow…..

Seriously, I wonder if there will be some Ghost/Drogon parallels this season.I mean, what parallels are left that they can possible do for Jon & Daeny, anyway?

I am seriously down with seeing some Ghostly Crow comeuppance.

Good news here is Ghost very much alive & not killed right after Jon. Poor planning on Thorne’s part but then again killing Jon – also not one of his brighter moves.

I like what you said about Mel’s uncloaking. Jons body is being saved/protected by Davos for something; for why would it matter who set a funeral pyre? No reason to protect it from the inevitible unless of course it isn’t and there is a bigger plan afoot.

God help me I can’t wait!

  220. At 1:13 when someone’s standing over Jon’s corpse with one hand on his chest and the other one covering his eyes: could it be reborn Jon himself standing over his corpse? That person’s hands look like Jon’s hands to me, and he/she seems to wear a leather shirt similar to Jon’s… I mean I’m not sure, but could he maybe be reborn somehow by Melisandre, complete with new body and all, and that scene is where he is kind of saying goodbye to his old body and old identity? Any thoughts?

  221. Bob Warren: I’m stumped on this one. Any more theories? Who is on the burning cross?

If they have done it correctly, then it would be very difficult to tell. Burning like that would greatly distort features. (Dead people look “wrong” anyway: burning them makes it worse.)

Direwolf Lvr: Wicked Game by Chris Issak. early 90’s song.

What is the song about? Last year, they gave us a song that was about the same thing as the series story was.

  222. Bob Warren,

Sue knows who is that XD she should tell us already. I remember when the news broke about the two people been burned in the crosses, she implied she knew who they are.

  223. Wimsey: the Night King seemed aware of Bran: but that could just be a trick of the camera shot

I thought the same thing which would lead me to believe the Night King’s consciousness is capable of interacting with beings in another time and place. I’m not sure if he sees Bran or just senses him. But he is definitely aware. More so than

Theon just thinking he heard the Weirwood whisper in the Godswood.
  224. Jared:
It may be impossible, but anyone who can identify the person who’s burning on the cross will instantly become a hero in the fandom.

I fear it is Tormund, especially since he looks like a Bolton prisoner, earlier.

  225. White Raven: I mean I’m not sure, but could he maybe be reborn somehow by Melisandre, complete with new body and all, and that scene is where he is kind of saying goodbye to his old body and old identity? Any thoughts?

I doubt it. At this point, they should only be firing guns that have been hung on the Wall, and the only “revival” gun that we’ve seen hung involves the same body.

As for the Hands, yes, they look like Jon’s: but they also look like those of millions of other men, as well as some women.

  226. The first words of the video, “He’s gone”, did anyone else think that sounded just like Rory McCann?
I don’t know if anyone mentioned it (gang is fast and too many comments to scroll through!) but I swear it sounds just like The Hound. And who else is gone? The Hound is dead. 🙂 Sandor Clegane may or may not be “at rest”.

  227. VisceralVarys: I like what you said about Mel’s uncloaking.

Few characters would do the literal and figurative together so well! 😀

VisceralVarys: I am seriously down with seeing some Ghostly Crow comeuppance.

It really pisses me off that they cut out Thorne’s little yappy dog “Missy” that he spends all of his off-page books scenes snuggling. Showing Ghost eat Missy with Thorne crying like a baby would have been sweet.

Oh, damn: I forgot to take my meds. Brb.

  228. wait – Melisandre opening up her dress – what’s going on there? is she going to use magic sex, or is she going all Nissa Nissa?

  229. I’m glad I checked once more before going to bed. The trailer sense must have been tingling.

’tis a glorious day. Bring on the screencaps and analyses. Bring on the gifs. We’re gonna look at every single frame in this effing trailer.

  230. 2 points:

    1. The figure burning on the cross is a flayed blob o flesh. Unless you’re a forensic anthropologist on site, you are not going to tell anything regarding height, gender, or physical traits from that smidgen of film. Seriously.

    2. Thanks for showing up NOW, Ghost! Yeesh, some people’s direwolves!!!! 😉

  231. Team Hodor: It the Waif(?) hitting Arya.

Yeah, I am betting that Arya’s relationship with the Faceless Men is going to parallel Jon’s relationship with the Watch and most of the North, Daeny’s relationship with the Dothraki and Tyrion’s relationship with the Meerenese.

  232. Gawd, it’s only 3pm here, I still have stuff to do, and I cannot focus to save my life.

    Hahahaha.

Ah, GoT, what a wicked game you play!!!

  233. Jared:
It may be impossible, but anyone who can identify the person who’s burning on the cross will instantly become a hero in the fandom.

    Well, it is not Rickon……

  234. Scott,
Tower of joy scene… He looked totally badass. But this being game of thrones his dead by the end of the battle.

  235. Epic trailer, but I’m sure I’m not the only one who thinks it’s ridiculous that Jorah finds the tiny ring Daenerys left behind in a continent that is bigger than Azia?

  236. Scott,

Yeah im seeing the same thing… a certain corpse, alive and well on horseback. Nice catch! Randomly I had paused on that scene and its quite clear its him. Or a very very very similar extra 🙂

  237. Arthur,

And also in that Dany entering Vaes Dothrak scene, in the close shot she is walking forward looking forward and everyone is passing her going forward in the same direction she is facing. But in the far away shot of the crowd Dany is standing sideways, looking sideways at the horse statue while everyone else is walking past her, not in the direction she is facing.

So that shots continuity is all fucked up unless things were pulled out of the shows sequence just for the trailer.

  238. So is Melisandre going to bang Jon till he resurrects?

    Also, where is Littlefinger standing?

  239. TFT: I’m sure I’m not the only one who thinks it’s ridiculous

Aragorn sees no problem with this. After all, not idly to the stones of Valyria fall…

  240. Arthur:

    Dragon was pretty bad too.

  241. Jon Snow’s Curling Iron: Also, where is Littlefinger standing?

It looks like Winterfell’s godswood to me. Maybe an encounter with Sansa after the battle is (hopefully) won. Or maybe he goes there beforehand, to mindfuck the Boltons somehow.

  242. Oh man…. Tyrion having a fateful visit with Viserion and Rhaegal at :48? Hopefully it will go better than Quentyn’s.

  243. Bob Warren: Melisandre opening up her dress – what’s going on there? is she going to use magic sex, or is she going all Nissa Nissa?

Foreshadowing! Uncloaking can have two meanings, after all.

  244. The hands on the brazier are definitely Dany’s because the ring is the same one that she was wearing when she took off the other ring and dropped it in S5E10. I just checked that ep and she had two rings on.

  245. ramses: Tyrion having a fateful visit with Viserion and Rhaegal at :48? Hopefully it will go better than Quentyn’s.

I think that we can pretty much bet that it will. Well, at least it will go better for Tyrion than it did for Quentyn: one could say that getting the dragons out of their jail and Quentyn out of the story made things better for most people! 😀 (If only they could have eaten Arianne, too…..)

  246. Anyone else think that Davos is speaking to Ollie in the last scene? Who else would he say he is sorry he is resorting to violence to except for a child he may not know was part of the mutiny against Jon?

  247. Wimsey: Between some trees, it appears.

I meant if he’s in Winterfell and finds Sansa, or somewhere else 😛

  248. Wimsey: Mine went extinct 10K years ago….

Damn….if it’s microchipped or has a collar, you should still call the local shelters….

  249. Joey: Who else would he say he is sorry he is resorting to violence to except for a child he may not know was part of the mutiny against Jon?

Someone who feels compelled to apologize for not being very good at committing violence.

  250. There is a theory that Melisandre will sacrifice herself to revive Jon but HBO released a still of her riding out of Castle Black sometime ago, so that possibility is pretty much out.

  251. Joey,

I dont think so, he is just talking to the loyal Nights Watch brothers before they fight off Thorne and his fellow mutineers who killed Jon.

  252. Wimsey: Few characters would do the literal and figurative together so well!

It really pisses me off that they cut out Thorne’s little yappy dog “Missy” that he spends all of his off-page books scenes snuggling.Showing Ghost eat Missy with Thorne crying like a baby would have been sweet.

Oh, damn: I forgot to take my meds.Brb.

I would be happy with just seeing Thorne shit his feathers as Ghost closes in.

    Missy can be re-homed 😉

  253. At first I thought it was kinda ridiculous trying to make a film out of Game of Thrones but the progress between seasons is astonishing.

    The season looks amazeballs.

Can anyone confirm that it was Arya making the jumping scene? Also, I hope that the shoot of her eyes is her warging and not Blind Beth.

  254. Luka Nieto: It looks like Winterfell’s godswood to me. Maybe an encounter with Sansa after the battle is (hopefully) won. Or maybe he goes there beforehand, to mindfuck the Boltons somehow.

This is what I’m wondering as well. I’m hoping she doesn’t run into him right after her escape at least.

  255. I will be going over this ALL night…soo hyped!!
long shot of Jon with the “he’s gone” voice over.. nope..negative…cant make me believe it

loved the shot of Sansa maybe FINALLY getting into the Game

Cersie just bein Bad Ass to Lancel.. full on CrayCray by the end of the season though

I love Ser Davos…he is Teh Awesome

and OMG I did not even realize that was Euron the first couple times I watched it..looked TOTALLY like Theon

  256. Connor:
For those who dont know what im talking about. The part with the hooded person on the horse hitting a wight with a lantern here is the photo

    http://assets2.ignimgs.com/2016/03/08/gotseasonsix0036png-19d47a_765w.png

on the right, looks like Meera, just barely. Remember the Inside GoT season 6 video of Meera in the same forest behind the same pile???

It might be Coldhands or Benjen Stark. Who knows, im hoping both. We shall wait and see….not too much longer now…

  257. Yeah a few of us have said that…It looks to be a pretty familiar setting, and the grounds don’t seem so wild.

Luka Nieto: It looks like Winterfell’s godswood to me. Maybe an encounter with Sansa after the battle is (hopefully) won. Or maybe he goes there beforehand, to mindfuck the Boltons somehow.

  258. Grim: Person burning on the cross is what’s left of Stannis after he was skinned.

Possibly: although it would be a bit of a stretch for Stannis to be at all recognizable however many months later this is supposed to be happening.

harlequeen: There is a theory that Melisandre will sacrifice herself to revive Jon but HBO released a still of her riding out of Castle Black sometime ago, so that possibility is pretty much out

The other problem is that the prior example of revival that we’ve seen have not involved sacrifices. Oddly, R’hllor does not seem to demand sacrifice to revive people. And that should probably scare the feces out of your bowels more thoroughly than a bleach-filled enema.

  259. Connor: It might be Coldhands or Benjen Stark. Who knows, im hoping both. We shall wait and see….not too much longer now…

I hope it’s Benjen. It would make sense for him to appear now, since they mentioned him in the series finale to refresh our memories.

  260. Demonmonkey,

That’s not Theon – that’s Euron lurking by the bridge.

The way they conspicuously hide Jon’s eyes at one point makes me think he really has warged into Ghost. Also, thinking about it, how else would Davos, Mel etc. know that he’s still alive (or rather, resurrectable)? Why would Davos (or Edd, for that matter) go along with a resurrection, unless he can see some kind of evidence that something weird is going on? Does Mel just get a sudden vision in the flames, and everyone instantly believes her? Jon with white eyes would be enough evidence that something funny is happening. If not that, there must be something else, some other kind of sign….

  261. In the shot of the six men drawing their swords in what we believe is a ToJ flashback, unless all of the men are left handed the scene is mirrored for the trailer. 🙂

Huh. You’re right! That’s certainly the same scene, so Meera’s gotta be there. Which means… Who’s that on a horse, attacking a wight, presumably?

  263. oh dear lord if you watch in slow motion on youtube

jon snow on horseback in the middle to right of the screen at 1.17

  264. OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG

The music!!! The HYPE!!! I’ve only watched it once, but damn!!! “I choose violence”! Lancel actually opposing Frankenmountain as if he could! I’d also like to mention that the editing is suggesting that Tommen opposes Cersei during the course of the season! Arya’s jump looked amazing! Everything! Kingsmoot! Pilou looks exactly like a Greyjoy! That family is looking as coherent as the Lannisters and Starks in my opinion.

Sansa! Sexy beast of a woman nowadays! Ramsay’s got some explaining to do! xD Also.. Bran and Night’s King.. OH SNAP.

Also.. Davos’ line is killer! xD

  265. Queen of the Throne Age,

Just loving your name, if it’s that time of the month do you go with the flow (sorry!)
What a sexy bastard of a trailer, the hype is most definitely on and I can’t wait!

Does anyone think that they purposely chose an actor for Euron that had a resemblance to Theon suggesting he is his real father and that’s why Balon (in place of Victorian) exiled him

  266. Pj: Also, I hope that the shoot of her eyes is her warging and not Blind Beth.

They do warging with the eyes whited out, but also obviously rolled up to the top. That’s the same as they used for her blindness last year.

  267. Luka Nieto: Huh. You’re right! That’s certainly the same scene, so Meera’s gotta be there. Which means… Who’s that on a horse, attacking a wight, presumably?

Yeah like we said before.. It’s possibly Benjen or even…dare I say it..

  268. Luka Nieto: Huh. You’re right! That’s certainly the same scene, so Meera’s gotta be there. Which means… Who’s that on a horse, attacking a wight, presumably?

My bets are is that its either Benjen Stark or Coldhands making a late appearance. And thats a fireball, not a lantern, my bad lol

  269. Cumsprite: Thankfully, no sign of LSH.

You could see the trees she was hiding behind in several scenes, and the rock she is hiding behind in another scene. CONFIRMED!!! 😀

  270. Arthur: So that shots continuity is all fucked up unless things were pulled out of the shows sequence just for the trailer.

Well, that IS usually how trailers are made. No reason to expect a trailer to provide any continuity.

No Gilly or Sam, or the Tarlys, or Martells anywhere in this trailer. Osha and Rickon are absent too. Varys.

  271. Connor,

Probably Coldhands, I reckon. Although I did think that I saw Benjen for a split second in the battle scene….probably going mad, though.

  272. Seems like Jon Snow’s corpse has more screentime than any other character in this. heh They are really parading him around, where’s Stannis or Myrcella’s body, HBO? They not important anymore hint hint

  273. Kosten:
Mel sacrificing herself to bring back Jon seems even more likely to me now (could even be why Davos draws his sword?); not her usual disrobing facial expression. Seems more like resignation and acceptance of her fate.
    Davos is totally AA, hahah.

I actually think she looks afraid. I’m thinking something goes wrong in the resurrection and Jon isn’t himself. She is scared to cast shadows with him. Who knows?

  274. Apollo,

It could be Bran on the horse. HBO did release the still of Bran out of the cave on horseback and it didn’t seem like he was in a vision.

  275. Ginevra,

Definitely Edd! And then a few random faces.

    Danielle Stark,

Agree. Those are Edd or Davos’ hands. The person is wearing dark leather, not a red robe.

    Jack Bauer 24,

It wouldn’t rot. It’s f’ing freezing out. Still not sure why they left it though (other than for dramatic effect!)

    Wimsey,

Nah, Ghost is standing up at the head of Jon’s pallet.

Stay observation: Mel is suddenly wearing a fur, which is in keeping with her having lost her faith and the warmth of R’hllor.

  276. Daughter of Winter,

Thank you, my friend, glad to talk to you again! It’s a very good day and what better things to talk about than the long awaited trailer? And it’s so exciting and open to speculations.

  277. Bob Warren: Also, thinking about it, how else would Davos, Mel etc. know that he’s still alive (or rather, resurrectable)?

The requirement for being revived is being dead, not being a warg. Given what the books tell us, if Jon had warged into Ghost, then he’d be forever lost there, anyway: once you get to the 2nd life, then there is no jumping bodies anymore.

At any rate, it is too late to do that: guns fired late have to be hung early, and neither books nor show has hung a “Jon is an experienced Warg” gun or a “Wargs can use their animals as clouds for storing their consciousness for future downloading into a new body.” Doing these things now in either medium would be Deus ex Machina: and so far, Martin, Benioff & Weiss have avoided DeM like a plague. (Indeed, some people think that they hang the guns a bit too visibly!)

Bob Warren: Why would Davos (or Edd, for that matter) go along with a resurrection, unless he can see some kind of evidence that something weird is going on?

For the same reason Arya “went along” with Thoros reviving Beric: one, they will have zero say in it, and, two, they will have no idea what is happening until it happens. Not even Davos knows about this power of R’hllor: Mel can just act. However, the show did go out of its way to show us that Mel knows about this little trick: again, Chekhov could not have framed this pistol any better!

  278. Olpi: I think I just saw jon snow on a horse in that battle glimpse.

And I’m pretty sure that is Elvis riding next to him.

  279. Exit81:
    Apollo,

It could be Bran on the horse. We’ve seen the still of Bran out of the cave on horseback and it didn’t seem like he was in a vision.

That’s another possibility (although I really don’t think Bran is leaving that cave but we’ll see)..Could also possibly be Bloodraven.

  280. Luka Nieto,

I commented that what we would see Euron killing Balon on screen months ago maybe just for once I might get a prediction right lol

  281. Exit81: HBO did release the still of Bran out of the cave on horseback and it didn’t seem like he was in a vision.

How could a still seem like a vision or not? A still shot from a vision would look like a still shot from a non-vision.

  282. Bob Warren:
    Connor,

I saw Jon in that battle, i recognize his hair anywhere ahah.

Probably Coldhands, I reckon. Although I did think that I saw Benjen for a split second in the battle scene….probably going mad, though.

  283. Connor: My bets are is that its either Benjen Stark or Coldhands making a late appearance.

Oh, I hope it’s Coldhands! I was the president of the Lady Stoneheart-Coldhands Shippers, you know.

  284. Why are people surprised that LF is in Winterfell? It’s where he was heading at the end of S5.

  285. Wimsey,

He was dressed for winter north of the Wall (heavy furs) in the still. Every thing else he’s worn in vision has been similar to his first season outfit. The thinner leathers, no furs.

  286. My gosh, I’m speaking in general but judging from some comments on twitter and elsewhere people really don’t seem to understand what a resurrection is. Like they don’t get that the first requirement for it is to be effing dead.

  287. Exit81: He was dressed for winter north of the Wall (heavy furs) in the still. Every thing else he’s worn in vision has been similar to his first season outfit. The thinner leathers, no furs.

Bran has had several different looks in his shots: we have seen him in Stark Armor, heavy furs, this groovy little tunic number that he’s wearing for the Night’s King, and the clothes that he was wearing. So, it appears that he gets to “dress the part” in his visions.

  288. phantomstrife:
    SillyMammo,

Boobs that were Promised, yes they are.

Hahaha…were I not so attached to my SN, and especially in light of an offer I made a while back out of sheer desperation for a trailer (HotPinkLipstick will remember), I’d use that for a new SN. 🙂

  289. r-hard:
So Melisandre will rapes Jon back to life? I’m sososo happy to see Carice boobs again, but just having sex with his corpse and he will lives again? Come onnnnn…..

Or maybe she’ll have to make love with Ghost… 😀
She’ll suck Jon’s spirit out of that direwolf and she’ll put it back to his body… 😀

  290. Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow! What a trailer. I was intrigued by the first part then BOOM! All this excitement!

It’s amazing the show has so many established characters than some like Varys, Loras, Sam don’t even make the trailer. And I think it’s the first trailer Dany hasn’t spoken in.

Cool to see Davos being a bit of a badass!

    TFT,
I presume the thousands of horses and Dothraki left a rather big mess behind them therefore Daario and Jorah just followed the destruction

  291. TFT:
Epic trailer, but I’m sure I’m not the only one who thinks it’s ridiculous that Jorah finds the tiny ring Daenerys left behind in a continent that is bigger than Azia?

    Here’s my take on it:

When the Dothraki came to pick Dany up, they were all riding horses, and there were easily over 100 of them. When horses continuously ride in the same spots, it greatly disturbs the soil. So Jorah and Daario were probably milling about and came upon a giant circle of trodden grass and soil and thought, “huh, well that looks sort of strange.” The circle where Dany stood in likely didn’t have any horse tracks, so the small area of undisturbed earth was probably curious.

  292. Wimsey,

Sure. We’re going to have to agree to disagree, since I think there’s more of a chance that the person on the horse is Bran than it being Coldhands. Could also be Benjen or a random wildling.

  293. Someone said this earlier – beginning of the trailer “He’s gone.” sounds like Rory McCann for sure.

  294. 0:26 – When Melisandre is telling Davos that her visions were all a lie, she’s wearing fur. What happened to her cold immunity?

  295. Olpi,

Joanne Robinson at Vanity Fair agrees and has posted a gif on her Twitter pointing right to where Jon (?) might be.

  296. Jack Bauer 24,

They can’t fit everything into the trailer. The main characters feature, most of the B-list and C-list characters do not.

At this stage I’m just grateful we have a trailer. I don’t feel like I should be complaining about lack of decent footage for a long time now.

  297. I think the hands on Jon’s body belong to a male. They don’t seem delicate enough to be Mel’s, plus they look a little hairy. What’s the spot on the back of his/her left hand? Some sort of resurrection clue? Yeah, I’m reaching with that one, but I thought it was interesting. I think that every little thing is intentionally.

  298. Wimsey,

Once Jon is resurrected fairly early in the season hopefully. Thorne are co are no longer. Wildlings can easily overpower them and we need to move onto bigger things than NW. Just like Boltons are not gonna be around for more season as WW threat is on the horizon.

  299. Stills frame by frame on the Spanish site L7R: http://lossietereinos.com/ya-esta-aqui-el-primer-trailer-de-la-sexta-temporada-de-juego-de-tronos/

No ElderBrother/Septon Meribald (wanted to see McShane!). The hound is also missing, or any hint to him.
    —–
Happy with Euron! Of course, Pilou is the best cast for the character. Loved this actor when I saw him on the danish miniseries 1864, the diversity and depth of the character, capable of showing tenderness and love and the minute later exploding like a maniac… awesome! I guess I even mentioned then he would be perfect in GoT. He was as well in Lucy, the guy who gives the briefcase to Scarlett Johansson’s Lucy at the begining of the movie).
    —–
I think the rider hitting the wight with the lamp might be indeed Meera.
    —–
We got Tyrells (their backs and the flamboyant feathers of Mace’s helm) at the stairs of the Great Sept. Jamie at the top of the stairs.. we already saw the spoiler photos coming from Spain.
    —–
That ring/hand in the fire thing (sorry my english)…

that confirms the other spoiler photos coming from Spain where we see Daario, Jorah riding behind Dany.

    —–
Reading the comments about Littlefinger at the Godswood.. suddenly a thought hit me…… Sansa and Theon escape > Ramsay goes berserk > Littlefinger arrives in Winterfell/Godswood at the worse moment, faces Ramsay… goodbye Littlefinger = burnt man?
    —–
    HYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

  300. Greatjon of Slumber: “I’ve never been much of a fighter, so I apologize for what you’re about to see…”

Close: “I’ve never been much of a fighter. Apologies for what you’re about to see.”

  301. My Dissection of the Trailer, SPOILERS:

    0:36 Dany in Vaes Dothrak.
0:43 Iron Islands / Kings Moot.
1:00 Tower of The Joy (probably).
1:00 Allister Thorne + Othell Yarwyck + third person.
1:07 Bolton bowmen launching a barrage.
    1:08 Theon in trouble.
1:08 Euron Greyjoy + Damphair, probably baptized to be a king.
    1:10 Brienne saves Theon.
1:12 Carise Van Houten’s boobs, again.
    1:13 Jon Snow’s body.
1:14 Arya escaping to a crowded street.
    1:14 Boltons vs. Wildlings.
1:15 Euron Greyjoy on a bridge.
1:16 Targaryen king’s guard man vs. northmen.
1:16 Tormund Giant’s Bane, shields with Bolton sigils at the backround.
1:19 The great sept of Baelor + Tyrell troops + High Sparrow + Jaimie Lannister.
1:21 Bran Stark, nights king, vision.
1:35 Davos Seaworth + Long Claw vs. Nights Watch in front of Jon’s body.

That’s what I personally found going the video second by second. I most likely missed a ton tho.

  302. At 1:13 when the hands are being laid on Jon, just behind Jon is a chair and between that chair and the fire is something white and furry with pointy ears in a position which appears to be looking at what the person is doing to Jon. I’m throwing a random guess that that might be Ghost looking alive and well there.

    Hyped. 😀

  303. I think Davos is drawing sword along with people loyal to Jon and Thorne and co wants Jon’s body from them. You can see them trying to enter room by smashing doors. Davos might not be a great fighter as he is advisor, but I hope he still kick some ass. Ghost is just silently laying besides Jon.

  304. Ginevra,

Yeah, Tormund is a good guess, I’d say. After staring at it for far too long, the only thing I think I can discern about the body is that it’s an adult male (which really narrows things down). The fact that the victim’s head is bald means my mind went to “Thenn” – but it’s supposed to be a known character, and after the deaths of Styr, the Thenn warg, and Loboda, we don’t have any established Thenns left. Of course, the hair could have been shaved off or burned off … which would make it difficult to identify Tormund if it is him, since the defining marker of his appearance is his long ginger hair and beard.

The mystery will probably remain unsolved. I find it highly unlikely that HBO would spoil a major character death in the trailer by allowing us to identify the victim if it could be done. But I’ve learned not to underestimate the determination of GOT fans. 😉

  305. ramses,

My thought too!! If Ghost was alive, he would be growling and ready too jump at the actual traitors’ throat… Looks dead or seriously depressed to me (noooooooooooo, couldn’t take it either).
On a completely different topic, where does this scar on LF’s cheek come from ?

  306. Connor:
    Ginevra,

Ghost doesnt move at all in that part with Davos taking Longclaw. Could Jon be warged into Ghost and is sleeping next to his body waiting to be brought back?

Ghost’s presence is definitely a boon for those with the Jon-wargs-into-Ghost-while-dead theory, but still far from definitive proof. The scene flashes so quickly that Ghost could just be being still for a second or two.

  307. When did Daavos become so cool?

I can’t believe Game of Thrones came out in 1996 and now 20 years later we may bet closure about who is John’s parents…

  308. Geralt of Rivia:
    Wimsey,

Once Jon is resurrected fairly early in the season hopefully. Thorne are co are no longer. Wildlings can easily overpower them and we need to move onto bigger things than NW. Just like Boltons are not gonna be around for more season as WW threat is on the horizon.

I think the scenes in Castle Black involving Melisandre and Davos with Jon Snows body is in the first episode. Gotta be, i mean the opening shot of the trailer must take place right after Season 5 Episode 10. So he might get ressed episode 1. Im HOPING that he does.

  309. Lord Snow:
    The Drowned Goddess,

    “Parkour in KL”

Believe this is Arya running through Braavos being chased by the Waif

From behind, it looks like Bran to me. If he is having visions…well….

    Ser Roger Sterling,

Listened to it a dozen times and agree. Someone said Davos and definitely hear his voice in there as well but think it would could be just enough to throw people off. Showing Jon’s body, it would make sense that it would be Davos but we all know what we see and the voice over doesn’t necessarily go together.
Theon just might make it if that clip of Brienne is her saving him from the Bolton men. Of course, Sansa is long gone if he was “sacrificing” himself. So close again, Brienne.
Jaime is yet again a candy-ass with Cersei. Ugh. But crazy Cersei is my favorite Cersei, so bring on the violence.

  310. I normally don’t “fanboy” and completely freak out over a trailer… but I did over this! This trailer is even better than I had expected it to be, and the glimpses of the Kingsmoot, the Mountain, the battle, ToJ etc. blew my mind. Sorry if I sound too hyped-up atm, but I can’t help myself.

  311. Man, that really looks like JS next to Tormund in line at 1:14. I can’t lighten my screen any further though, so probably not.

  312. looks like Tormund next to davos a little bit at the very last scene of the trailer.
Also that hooded Figure with the lantern could be cold hands, or the show could make it ben lol
    Apollo,

On YouTube it has 9 million views ? it says it has around three hundred thousand for me.

  313. JOn Snow is alive, look at min 1:17 pause it and keep clicking pause and if you can see in the back round someone in the back on a white horse as the horse in front of you is falling down, that is Jon Snow i repeat that is Jon Snow!

  314. harlequeen:
    Ginevra,

Alliser is the one behind the guy breaking down the door

Thanks! I thought so, but I wasn’t certain enough to label until I read others say that same thing. I’d forgotten to add Alliser to the name of the pic until your reminder, though.

  315. harlequeen:
    Jon on the battlefield?

Manuel: JOn Snow is alive, look at min 1:17 pause it and keep clicking pause and if you can see in the back round someone in the back on a white horse as the horse in front of you is falling down, that is Jon Snow i repeat that is Jon Snow!

    Not according to James Hibberd:

“We see archers, Westeros horse charging, desperate fighting, Dothraki horse charging – but who’s fighting whom? There’s a glimpse of a flayed man (and who is that unlucky character, by the way?), so perhaps the Boltons are involved. In possibly a different clash, we see Tormond (and no, that one charging horseman in the background is not the character you think it might be).”

    http://www.ew.com/article/2016/03/08/game-thrones-season-6-trailer-questions

  316. Aside from the song that was a cool trailer.

Has there been a season where Melisandre hasn’t disrobed? 😀

BTW is it just me or was Euron standing on Pyke’s bridge during a stormy night………………………

  317. Apollo: LOL…noooooo its Coldhands or Benjen! W.T.A.F.

Alright already, calm down. Marg looking up from the cells happens literally a split millisecond before that and that’s what I thought the OP was referring to. Fairly certain no one thinks Gilly or Margaery is taking out wights on horseback in the north. 😐

  318. LOL. I literally have no words. That was awesome.

For the first time in Pop Culture memory, we’ve about to see a screen adaptation to a book that hasn’t come out yet…It will be fascinating.

  319. You can see how massively popular this show is. Man, season 6 premier will break the internet.

  320. Loved the song wicked game with the trailer, bloody amazing, fit perfectly.
Game of thrones looks better every season, my eyes are going to be glued to the screen 24/7.
also does one of those men in the final scene in the trailer look like Tormund to anyone, I think its the guy from the right of davos.

  321. Isabelle,

lol who cares what he thinks? He’s questioning whether it’s young Ned there and speculating that Davos might be about to do something to Jon.

  322. 1:18 Vary’s Little Birds, calling it right now.

My God the KL plot is gonna be so juicy this year, and I always forget because so many other crazy things are going down.

  323. 1:07-1:08 archers, two banners. The dark blue banner is Bolton. What’s the red banner? It has to be another northern house allied with them, right?

  324. Notice 1.17 Tormund – he’s turning back, away from the Boltons, as if surprised by something coming from the other direction. I think this indicates someone else joining the battle by surprise. Whether that ‘someone’ is coming to help Tormund, or kill him, who can say? Biggest crackpot theory might be the arrival of the White Walkers…..more likely, the arrival of Littlefinger and the Knights of the Vale, or Jon and reinforcements, or the Lannisters/Freys come to support the Boltons. But I’m pretty sure that look on his face is surprise, turning around in the middle of battle because someone or something is arriving unexpectedly from the rear.

  325. The Drowned Goddess:

Davos, unshielding Longclaw, “I’ve never been much of a fighter, ___ you’re about to see”(for some reason those couple of words don’t come through for me.)

“Apologies for what you are about to see”.

  326. im SOO over Jamie and Cersei. Was not expecting that.

Sansa is gorgeous. <3 I hope she rules everything in the north. I loveeeeeeee her story.

Jon looks dead. Ghost does too 🙁 I thought if Ghost was alive it would be a good sign.
    Dany – YES

Tyrion – looks like hes unleashing the dragons.

    Very little Arya 🙁

Another of Bran's visions, soooo interested to see the interaction with the night king.

So much stuff in there I HAVE NO IDEA who or what is going on. But that's the beauty of spoiler free life. I cant wait.

APRIL 24 cant come fast enough.

Oh and Davos and Jon’s sword. Bittersweet.

  327. Ha I called it earlier ;-))

    Lion of Night:
1:18 Vary’s Little Birds, calling it right now.

My God the KL plot is gonna be so juicy this year, and I always forget because so many other crazy things are going down.

  328. I would assume that the burning, flayed man is Stannis. Maybe the Bolton’s found his body after Brianne slays him, (or she stupidly tries to barter for Sansa) and they display his burning body before…maybe an on coming army??

  329. Someone commented this on the Season 6 trailer on Youtube…gave me chills.

    “When winter comes…
    You’ll hear no lions roar…
    No stags grazing the fields…
No roses growing in the meadows…
    No snakes in the sand…
The krakens will freeze where they swim…
The flayed men will rot and wither…
No trouts swimming in the river and no falcons flying in the air…
Not even the dragon’s breath will warm you in your halls.
You shall hear only the wolves howl…
And then you will know. Winter has come.”

  330. But why would any northern force give a shit about Stannis? Besides I’m pretty sure Brienne decapitated him?

A flayed, burned corpse would look the same regardless of who it was (perhaps even make or female), with no hair or skin to distinguish them.

    Ember:
I would assume that the burning, flayed man is Stannis.Maybe the Bolton’s found his body after Brianne slays him,(or she stupidly tries to barter for Sansa)and they display his burning body before…maybe an on coming army??

  331. Funny how on the International Day for Women, we have Melisandre saying that her big victory she saw in the flames was all a big lie… And we continue to see broken women throughout the trailer. Well, aside from Sansa, who’s just about the only character moving up it seems.

A lot of shots are very clear to make out what’s what. The only two that for me are a mystery are the horseman slinging the fire bucket, and the shot at 1:18 with the women striking downwards onto someone/thing. I’ve got NO clue.

    Also, WHERE ARE THE TARLY’S?!?

For all of those wondering whether Euron will be as controversial as the books make him out to be.. I guess we have to swallow a small bitter pill, in the following link, after the usual Jon Snow-question, Pilou gets asked: “Do you have a sex-scene in GoT?”, to which he answers: “I wish”.. So perhaps he will be a slightly bit more subdued character then the.. well.. the.. uhh.. ass-slapping kind of bloke he is in the books. When he gets asked: “Do you kill Reek?”, he appears to not even recognize the name. Would’ve been hilarious if all other cast members took that approach about Jon Snow.. Interviewer asks Carice the JS-question: “Jon WHO?!”. Oh well, we get to see Yara have some tongue action with a woman. Who knew! xD

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oz29MVeS0Jc&ebc=ANyPxKpXhDMrkomDmit0hoVvAP6kO1xfp1ykhhj5SbcURvJteSKdlj_xR7oRLfMkSakYWLXhEsdTgIs2L89Ke3uAO9mia1KJBg

    George:
LOL. I literally have no words. That was awesome.

For the first time in Pop Culture memory, we’ve about to see a screen adaptation to a book that hasn’t come out yet…It will be fascinating.

This is not entirely true. I can’t remember the title, but I know of at least one occurance where it happened before. Also, there’s that Harry Potter-play that turned out to be made into a book later on..

But it may have been the biggest instance..

  332. DanTheMan: Im wondering what situation would make Davos draw Longclaw…
Damn you HBO, you managed to make me even more excited for Season 6 now!

The picture is kind of dark, hard to completely see. I’m thinking that they are in a room with Jon’s body, where they’ve taken it, and Davos is about to go full apeshit on whomever is breaking down the door. If so, that means that at least a couple of the murderous traitors are going to go down.

  333. phantomstrife: lol who cares what he thinks? He’s questioning whether it’s young Ned there and speculating that Davos might be about to do something to Jon.

James Hibberd is pretty reliable for things like this–EW usually gets the first scoop as they’re owned by the same group who own HBO (Time Warner). When he says something declarative (“this is/this is NOT”), he means it.

As for the other points (Ned, Davos, etc), he’s not questioning anything. He’s throwing out ideas for readers to consider. He doesn’t agree or disagree with any of them.

  334. Bob Warren,

Completely agree that Tormund has a look of surprise on his face. It’s rezzed Jon joining the battle! (At least I really hope it is)

  335. I’m loving EVERYthing about this trailer. waiting for better eyes than mine to analyse every last bit!

And, just like with her walk of shame, I’m surprised to find myself rooting for Cersei to take some bloody mean revenge! Haha. You take down that pissant cousin of yours, woman, you do you.

This actually made my day. 😀

  336. Nothing against Euron’s missing eye patch, But at least they could have made it more creepy by him having a black eye, like it was meantioned on the books, and I mean like, all black, like a demon or something. But since we cannot see his eyes clearly on any frame of this trailer, I will stay quiet.

  337. Apollo,

Not really sure how she killed him as it panned away…she did seem to be giving him a pretty big hack, but they still don’t show it. My thought was basically scare tactics from the Bolton’s against any army that could be invading. “We took down this guy (and his huge army that took the dulling north if thevwall) we can take you”. If it’s a wilding army, coming from castle black, they wouldn’t know that most of Satnnis’s army left before the battle.

  338. Hah! Bran matters to the Night’s King (or vice versa)! I quite enjoyed this surprise today. It’s all about the north for me.

  339. Something about the chandelier behind Sansa makes me think she’s back at Winterfell, maybe in ep10. Just a feeling, she really could at any Northern castle/stronghold tbh.

  340. Ember,

Wouldn’t let me edit….. Meant to say basically that Stannis took the wildling army north of the wall – any enemy that could take Stannis would be frightening to a wildling army. Therefore flaying and burning Stannis could serve as a scare tactic.

  341. Connor: Gotta be, i mean the opening shot of the trailer must take place right after Season 5 Episode 10. So he might get ressed episode 1. Im HOPING that he does

Well, they really have to be early: Jon’s corpse looks very fresh. (And, no, corpses do not keep all that well in winter: if nothing else, then the rats and mice would be feasting on it, and there are lots of bacteria that generate antifreeze to let them keep on chugging when it’s cold.)

Cumsprite: You mean you look forward to the show and Martin’s adaptation of it.

eh, I’m not banking on living long enough to see GRRM’s version!

Thronetender: If so, that means that at least a couple of the murderous traitors are going to go down.

Well, that is a matter of perspective: they were not the ones that let hordes of Wildlings into Westeros! It’s supposed to be their job to keep them out, after all.

Apollo: But why would any northern force give a shit about Stannis? Besides I’m pretty sure Brienne decapitated him?

It might not be for any northern force: it might be for the Wildlings instead.

  342. Bergey:

(Random tangent: I would find it lulz-worthy if they worked in a joke about how Balon’s wife cheated with Euron, since Theon looks sooooo much more like Euron)

lol that’s a great idea, hope they do. Actually, I’ve never thought about that at all, would be cool if he was his dad in the books, too. Probably a needless twist and not that important to the plot but I’d still like that if it were hinted at.

  343. Grim:
Person burning on the cross is what’s left of Stannis after he was skinned.

Except Brienne most likely beheaded him. The flayed corpse still has a head…

  344. Hodors Bastard: Hah! Bran matters to the Night’s King (or vice versa)! I quite enjoyed this surprise today. It’s all about the north for me.

So, what is your guess? Is Bran seeing the Night King in the past or the present without the Night King seeing Bran? Or are Bran and the Night King having some mental projection conversation? Skyping through the Weirnet!

  345. In the final Davos scene, is that the Night’s Watch “cook” to his right? Wasn’t the “cook” an ally of Jon previously? If so, perhaps the men in the room with Davos were those remaining loyal to Jon, and Davos, Ghost, and those men were ready to fight their way out with Jon’s body – presumably to get it to Mel . . .

I’m a sucker for Ghost. I hope he gets fully unleashed on those that betrayed Jon.

  346. Wimsey,

You’re right. I’m just getting carried away with trying to figure it out. The warg thing doesn’t make sense.

But it just seems like there must be something which happens in-between finding Jon dead and the decision to try and resurrect him. Mel is distraught, thinks everything has gone to shit. Then she sees Jon Snow is dead. Something makes her decide to resurrect him. Does she just suddenly remember “oh, there was that one time…”?

Also, Davos is drawing a sword and Thorne is trying to hammer down the door, as if everyone knows what is going on. I get your point, that people would just go along with it, but these people are not just going along with it; they are putting their life on the line to either prevent it or make sure it happens. Something seems missing from this picture.

But maybe not; maybe I’m over-thinking it. Maybe Mel does suddenly just have this great idea to try and resurrect a dead body, and for some reason everyone just believes she can do it.

  347. r-hard,

The song was Wicked Game by Chris Isaak, but a cover, I shazamed it and it only showed Chris’s version so I can’t tell you who sang it.

  348. Geralt of Rivia: Once Jon is resurrected fairly early in the season hopefully. Thorne are co are no longer.

That is not necessarily the case. Thorne & Co. must have had some plan for dealing with the Wildlings: do not be surprised if, say, they get reinforcements from one of the other castles or from Northerners that do not want Wildlings in Westeros. (The “Northerners really hate Wildlings” gun is well-hung on the wall, and in the books, there are a lot of Northerners at the Wall who do not like these Wildlings coming across.)

I think it much more probable that Jon, the Loyalists, the remaining Kings Men and the Wildlings will be fleeing Castle Black in a hurry. Besides, GRRM rarely resorts to that sort of bad fantasy writing of having something major happen that then seems to get solved immediately. Thorne & the Nationalists will continue to hold Castle Black until… well, until something. (They could well turn up at the Bastard Bowl: it is their job to attack Wildling forces that make it south of the Wall, too.)

If nothing else, then we need to keep in mind that stories need parallels. Daeny is not going to just sick Drogon on the Dothraki and fly back to Meereen: this is going to be a drawn out affair for her. Arya clearly is not just falling in neatly with the Faceless Men: they seem to be after her for some chunk of the season. And Tyrion is not going to just smoothly rule Meereen. The analog for Jon in this probably will be the Night’s Watch Nationalists and the Northerners in general.

  349. Usually i come here, read the posts & comments and then leave silently. But today i can’t resist myself from commenting!
I just feel like a dog has bitten in my ass! That much exited i am!

    And i see something! 😉

  350. Wimsey,

Of course that Jon can live inside of Ghost and then back to his body preferably.

He will in the books. Varamyr as fellow warg told him that Ghost is worthy of second life for a King. Also foreshadowing for Jon to be a King of some sort. Also Mel saw man, wolf and man again. Show and books might differ in this but maybe they’ll surprise everybody.
  351. Ace of Mace: I can’t believe Game of Thrones came out in 1996 and now 20 years later we may bet closure about who is John’s parents…

But won’t the audience be confused by this Ashara Dayne person?!?!? Those dunderheads B&W completely forgot to set her up!!!!!

    😀

  352. Stoneheart Confirmed!!!

    Sorry, couldn’t resist.

Excellent trailer that I’ll need to watch several more times.

  353. Connor,

I’m starting to think now that the theory “bran leaves the cave” might actually happen… I’m only assuming here: The white walker might attack the weirwood.net and bran saw it in his vision.. that’s why he look so scared.. we saw the cave has immunity against wight.. but we didn’t see if it could really stop the white walker…not to mention their king!

  354. Nymeria Warrior Queen: I don’t think Ghost looks dead. I think Ghost looks like Summer did when he was protecting Bran when Bran was in a coma. He’s just lying there protecting Jon.

…with his hackles raised, which wouldn’t happen if he were dead.

  355. Wimsey: The requirement for being revived is being dead, not being a warg. Given what the books tell us, if Jon had warged into Ghost, then he’d be forever lost there, anyway: once you get to the 2nd life, then there is no jumping bodies anymore.

Jon’s body is dead: just like Orell’s and Varamyr Sixskins’ bodies. There has never been an attempt to revive the body of a warg while that warg’s soul lives on in another body, so we “have no idea what’s going to happen.”

  356. Finally, really looking forward for Season 6. Bran Stark looks amazing as always. So hyped to see his storyline.

Does someone was able to identify some of the actors in that frame of the Tower of Joy, where the guys are standing?

  357. Firannion: Isn’t that Arya’s leap in Braavos that we saw the location shots of?

Yeah it is, I think some just avoided ‘spoiler posts’ and may not have seen it…

  358. Still amazes me how obsessed some people are about having every Stark warg! Bran was enough, thanks. Rather not repeat the same storyline for all of them as they have way more interesting things going on than retreading his footsteps.

  359. Wimsey: How could a still seem like a vision or not?A still shot from a vision would look like a still shot from a non-vision.

He was unable to ride the horse fully sitting up but rather was hunched over, as if crippled. He was wearing very thick furs as if the outdoor cold affected him, unlike the vision pictures where he needs no overcoat at all.

  360. Geralt of Rivia,

But the 2nd life is not a cloud storing your full mind. The animal sponsoring the 2nd life is not a wolf or bear or eagle with a human mind: they seem to just have some trace of the person there. That has not come up on the show: but both book and show stress that living wargs that stay in in their animals for too long lose themselves in that animal. Something else that has come up in both is that when Bran wargs into Summer, it’s not Summer with Bran’s mind: Bran often is just a witness with little influence on what Summer does. (Interestingly, Bran seems better able to retain himself when he is in Hodor.)

Remember also that the same character who introduces us to 2nd lives also decries Jon’s refusal to embrace warging. So, the chapter that tells us that 2nd lives do not store personalities and that Jon is not an experienced warg (he never goes beyond wolf dreams) undermines this conjecture rather than supports it. What is sets up is that you need something else to “cloud storage” your mind: you need a certain type of tree.

Again, good storytelling involves is typified by setting up major plot elements (the classic Chekhovian Guns) and then firing them, whereas really bad story telling is typified by Deus ex Machina plot twists. The show always has gone the route of putting guns on the wall before firing them, and they have yet to go Deus ex Machina. (All claims of DeM in the show that I have seen conveniently ignore earlier scenes that set up the possibilities quite well.) Ironically, having a god bring Jon back will not be DeM because we’ve already seen that god do it to someone else.

Finally, it is completely unnecessary. After all, Beric was brought back without downloading his mind Cylon style somewhere, so why should Jon require it? And how do you explain to people that Jon somehow did it differently? That would be a lot of fanboy blather of the sort that bores audiences.

  361. Wimsey,

I guess you’re in for some surprise as they will move along very quickly with NW and not bother with as bigger things needs to be dealt with. Boltons can deal with Wildlings and absolutely doesn’t need to help NW. Their scouts can figured out how big Wildlings army is and in fact I can see Ramsay threatening NW to give up Sansa and Reek as Ramsay will probbaly thought that’s where they are. Sending pink letter but by the time it will reach Thorne and co will be dead. Jon reading the letter and setting him up on quest to defeat Boltons and of course improving his chances for upcoming fight against ww.

Show set him up for something else than warging but books did and you can ingore it all you want. I just leave at this as you will stick to your version. We’ll see.

  362. Geralt of Rivia,

They might follow Jon. I’m wondering if he will be proclaimed King Beyond the Wall (currently south of the Wall). That would make Mel’s visions all correct, albeit misunderstood.

  363. Geralt of Rivia: I guess you’re in for some surprise as they will move along very quickly with NW and not bother with as bigger things needs to be dealt with.

And you know this…. how? Moreover, story is a much bigger thing than plot, and story comes from parallelisms in what the protagonists do. Also, arbitrary plot twists with no long term ramifications (Jon is LC; takes a few days off to be dead; is back to being LC) hurts storytelling and turns off audiences.

Again, Jon needs a parallel to the Dothraki, the Faceless Men and the Meerenese. The NW would be very convenient for that.

At any rate, the Nationalists really should have some ability to defend themselves against the Wildlings: otherwise, we have a classic idiot plot here.

  364. Why do people want Cersei to take revenge blabla?
I hate her, I am sick of her succeeding. The walk of shame wasn’t enough

    Yes I am evil. Hahaha

  365. 1.16: That was definately Euron on a drawbridge. And Damphair was definately ‘drowning’ Euron in the water. I thought it was theon at first, but it’s euron. The Ironborn storyline from feast in all its glory, I couldnt be more thrilled. Damphari was at the kingsmoot to. I wish we had a look of his face. looks alot like drowned priest from s2

  366. Wimsey: Or are Bran and the Night King having some mental projection conversation? Skyping through the Weirnet!

I absolutely love the indication that the NK seems to be infiltrating Bran’s vision. He absolutely knows of Bran and weirnet central. We are seeing great power at work here. And where oh where is BR in that vision?

(And I hope your Coldhands idea is correct!)

Too excited to analyze. Must run outside and inform the neighbors loudly.

  367. Geralt of Rivia: Show set him up for something else than warging but books did and you can ingore it all you want.

Well, given that doing so would contradict what GRRM wrote in the chapter you cite, it would border on being a plothole at this point. (But, I guess that you can go on ignoring that! 😀 )

Seriously, the show might resort to this: but it will be a major lapsus that will almost certainly get a lot of criticism. (Who knows if we will ever see the book, anyway…. 🙁 )

  368. I saw a screencap of the Davos/Jon/Ghost scene and now I’m fairly certain that Ghost is standing (not laying) next to Jon’s body when Davos draws out Longclaw.
If Ghost were dead (as I first feared) there’s no way he’d be standing. I think the reason he’s not moving is because, well, he’s CGI’d into the scene and his movements (or lack of) don’t flow very well with the live-action around him.

As for the hands on Jon’s face: I think that is Edd closing Jon’s eyes. The clothing on the sleeve doesn’t match Mel’s or Davos’s clothing.

About catching a glimpse of Jon in the Battle of Bastards, I don’t think that’s him on the white horse. The armor does look like Stark armor but the hair looks a bit too straight. Also, Jon was sporting a man-bun in the leaked photo and the guy on the horse is not. Really, though, it could go either way.

Arya isn’t blind anymore when the Waif smacks the living crap out of her. Seriously, I’ve had it with Arya getting smacked around. ?

Lancel, you poor delusional fool. Prepare to be Oberyn’d.

  369. phantomstrife,

I am SO glad that there isn’t a cheesy Dany line in the trailer. The whole “…I’m going to break the wheel” line ended up being so cringe worthy when it finally happened on the show. Was not a fan. This trailer though? Pretty effing awesome!

  370. Now, the trailer makes it look like Tyrion is speaking to Sansa, but I think that’s just the way it’s cut. I don’t know if Tyrion has Littlefinger’s ability to apparate about Westeros, so I think they just make it look that way.

  371. here’s what I saw

    – jon snow cold dead in the snow
    – dorne ship arrives in red keep
    – jaime talks things to sad cersei
    – cersei cries, probably for myrcella if she still has a heart
    – davos staring at the remaining logs probably from Shireen’s burning
    – roose and ramsay are up to something
    – poor devil burning flayed in x-cross, looks like stannis to me, and would be a good way to show he’s off the show for good
    – melisandre repents everything she has been
    – jorah and daario on horses looking for Dany
    – jorah finds the ring that she lost, someone said he maybe conceals it from Daario
    – captive Dany looks above
    – some monument of a horse and million of dothrakis below
    – apprehensive/preoccupied Dany keeps on looking above
    – high sparrow talks to an armoured person. Is it Jamie?
    – Kingsmoot maybe, someone with a very cool white hair
    – sansa with a black fur coat, looks like nightwatch clothes
    – tyrion is looking for something that seems prohibited, people say he’s about to release dragons
    – drogon flying backwards thanks to the great technology of reversing clips in the editing room
    – cersei wants to get into somewhere, lancel threatens her, she’s all in, robert strong is even more in
    – probably mirrored clip of ned and cia in a flashback scene o TOJ or they’re all left-handed
    – allison thorne and mutineers break in the place where deader than dead Snow is lying
    – tommen and some guards marching for something, tommen looks uneasy
    – cersei and RS marching back, maybe a reverse shot maybe not
    – lot of northern horses
    – kraken ships in very bad weather
    – the waif hits arya
    – littlefinger next to trees looks at something in a snowy landscape
    – margaery looks behind
    – the most curious scene where a hooded man on a horse hits someone with a fireball in the same place where Meera was seen in the special making of that HBO released. Who may it be? benjen stark? coldhands? not-in-a-vision Bran?
    – roose’s soldiers and someone else’s soldier throwing arrows
    – probably some place in meeren being blasted by something I first thought was a bomb then remembered bombs were nowhere to be seen in those times
    – ramsay’s dogs and good men find theon
    – euron gets baptized
    – cersei and jamie being naughty
    – brienne slays a bolton’s soldier, not that same from theon’s scene cause the first had beard, but could be another one near
    – danny’s hand with a ring approaching fire
    – hall of faces nobody wants to see anymore
    – melisandre gets undressed and ready for some magic sex
    – A MAN closes jon’s eyes, maybe edd maybe tormund
    – arya jumping very high escaping from the waif
    – war of the bastards taking place
    – yara greyjoy finds out she’s a lesbian
    – euron gets unhooded in a rope bridge, very suspectful
    – targaryen warrior with a two-handed sword fighting people from winterfell
    – tormund in a very bad situation between bolton’s soldiers then…
    – a very likely jon stark riding a horse behind him, if you will
    – margaery redeems herself to high sparrow
    – another very strange scene with some savage people beating someone to death with rocks
    – not-warging-just-blind arya
    – mace and tyrell’s soldier defy High sparrow
    – sansa running in the forest probably from some dogs
    – dothraki attacking and looking very dangerous
    – wildlings declare war! TO WHOM? WHY?
    – bran meets the night king and the other horsemen, probably a vision
    – davos ashamed of his fight skills joins some of the nightwatch’s good men to fight against the traitors while a not moving a single frame direwolf stands next to jon snow’s not coming back body

  372. I was also worried Ghost might be dead in that last frame. However, I now think he is standing near Jon, not lying inert. Also, and most telling there is no blood on his white fur.

  373. Way late to the party because it took forever to catch up with the comments.

Not sure if my speculations should go in spoiler tags, so I’ll do it to be safe.

I’m wondering if the Others actually communicate with Bran through the weirnet. Maybe they try and recruit him? I suspect the CotF don’t have the purest intent and their and Bloodraven’s influence over Bran might not be entirely good. It just seems a little improbable that good fairies will save the day in this story, you know?

Here’s a resurrection theory I haven’t seen yet. Perhaps the birth of Jon Targaryen will mirror the birth of the dragons? Mel gets on a pyre with his body wanting to use his king’s blood (Stark blood) for guidance now that she’s devastated by Stannis’ defeat. She ends up resurrecting Jon by accident. That would be fun. This theory isn’t based in much of anything other than that I think it’s coming time to start tying the different parts of the story together.

  374. OH.

    MY.

    GOD.

    It’s here! It’s finally here!

ROBERT STRONG about to chop some Sparrows in half! EURON FUCKING GREYJOY being anointed as king and standing at a rope bridge during a storm (et tu, Euron?)! ARTHUR DAYNE showing the magnificent seven (or what’s left of them) who’s the fucking boss! And DAVOS drawing Longclaw and ready to lay the smackdown on Thorne and his lackeys!

    *head explodes*

Just… give me a bit to process all of the stuff in this trailer. My brain has broken from hype overload.

  375. Connor: on the right, looks like Meera, just barely. Remember the Inside GoT season 6 video of Meera in the same forest behind the same pile???

There is an object lying on the ground that resembles that thing next to Meera that looked like a basket, an animal trap or a backpack in that earlier shot.

  376. I saw Stanny flayed and roasting. Huzzah you fat fuck. That is what you get for being a cocksucker.

  377. I don’t remember when it was posted, but didn’t watchersonthewall report that ghost would have a bigger part in season 6 or that we would see more of him ?

  378. Ghost of Nymeria,

Cool! I tried reading the Spanish captions with my very limited Spanish. Some were obvious. Some not so much.

    Muerto. #sniff
Sabe donde esta Dany: Isn’t she looking up at the horse statue at Vaes Dothrak?
    Greyjoy: That’s the Kingsmoot.
    Norte!
Fuego: I’ve heard this word before and always thought it meant, “get the fuck out.” But I was wrong.
H-B-O: LoL. Yes, Home Box Office explains that scene perfectly.
Nortenos: I think they’re Wildlings. Norte de el Nortenos.

  379. Wimsey,

welll…but Jon is the guy whose song is ice and fire. R’hllor resurrection is purely fire. Warging abilities are ice, and they’re very possible, as the show hasn’t gone into details on what happens when a warg enters the body of an animal upon death. Also, the connection between the Stark kids and their wolves is different than a connection between any old warg and any old animal. These direwolves are magic, appeared when they did for a reason. I don’t think it’d be crazy at all to combine the “god” with the wolf.

  380. L7R writes that Carice van Houten had little filming time this year, and her scenes were all wrapped up in secrecy. It’s likely that Melisandre was there for Jon’s resurrection and L7R’s sources confirm that Jon’s direwolf Ghost was present as well. (Well, his special effects ball-on-the-stick was.) Reportedly, the Ghost-stick has been used a lot more for season 6 than previous years, which points toward Ghost having a big role next season.

Los Siete Reinos has also heard that the scene with Ned and Lyanna has been filmed, which is in line with the info we heard about the potential Lyanna casting call (“Young Stunner”) pointing toward an August filming date.

  381. Charlie’s review of the trailer. I’m sure I’ve said it before but he’s my favorite GoT reviewer.

  382. Jared:
    Ginevra,
Of course, the hair could have been shaved off or burned off … which would make it difficult to identify Tormund if it is him, since the defining marker of his appearance is his long ginger hair and beard.

Or flayed. Please don’t be Tormund; please don’t be Tormund.

  383. Davos saying “Apologies for what you’re about to see” at the end of the trailer is D&D’s way of telling us what to expect of S6 :p

    Just kidding! Great trailer! Finally!

  384. I don’t know of the important role ghost plays in season 6, but I look forward to everything all the same.

  385. I wonder why Davos draws Longclaw instead of his own sword? He does have a sword, right?

The one thing that really has me stumped is who is the shadowy rider that sets fire to a wight? It’s not Meera since she’s on the ground. I don’t want to get my hopes up about Benjen or Coldhands, but dammit, who else could it be?

  386. Ser Roger Sterling,

And lets all remember that voiceovers (not someone actually in the scene talking) are often lines from other episodes/storylines used for dramatic effect.

Really wouldn’t surprise me if its Rory McCann or someone well away from the wall speaking about something totally different

  387. Cumsprite:
    RIP ASOIAF 1996-2016

I am so looking forward to Linda´s Not-A-Review of this season.
Should be glorious fun to watch her turn green.

  388. Kargaryen:
    http://i.imgur.com/ifEr1sZ.jpg

Looks like Varys is in the catacombs with Tyrion!

    Thanks! Yes, there’s VARYS!
In fact, I was wondering to whom Tyrion says the “great game” line, and it would make sense if it was to Varys, and they go to free R and V, because they are in the great game!

  389. Moderation hell so again…

All up now. 🙂 Some gifs didn’t turn out as well as I hopped they would, probably because the bit rate that the uploader uses is too low. Will have to see if I can do something about that next time.

  390. I’ve watched the last shot in slow motion to see if there’s any slight movement by Ghost and I don’t see it. However, watching normal speed and continually clicking back as they draw their swords it seems like there’s very slight movement. Fooling the eye I suppose. I do think he’s alive and standing there though.

Bran in front of the Night’s King…
There’s a look of fear and horror on his face even before he turns. I’m thinking his vision ‘popped’ him in front of the Night’s King army in the Land of Always Winter and/or Heart of Winter. It could be a possible depiction of Bran’s “dream” in chapter 18 of AGoT. “Finally, he looks north and beholds the Wall and Jon and beyond that in the heart of winter something so terrible that it makes him cry. The crow tells him this is why he must live, because winter is coming.” Perhaps this is the scene they reportedly held off on because it was hard to do and monetary reasons that they said last year they were finally going to do. If so that could be a pretty sweet scene. Anyone up for a certain sort of spider??

  391. Holy crap, on the GoT Facebook page the trailer has over 131,000 comments already. I have never seen anything on facebook with that many comments before.

  392. Wimsey: That is not necessarily the case.

You keep saying this, but I don’t understand where you think these reinforcements are going to come from. For years the Night’s Watch has been sending recruiters, ravens and messages with every visitor from the south, pleading for assistance in defending the realm; and no one ever sends back more than a token few jailbirds. Why should they suddenly respond more positively now? Wildling raids south of the Wall are not that uncommon. Why would this sense of urgency be taken any differently from all the earlier senses of urgency? Seems more likely to me that the response would be, “Oh, they’re just crying wolf again.”

  393. Pounce:
There’s not even a tiny glimpse of Dorne in the trailer. LOL

Not a single actor from Dorne. No Tarly’s either.

  394. Bob Warren:
    Demonmonkey,

That’s not Theon – that’s Euron lurking by the bridge.

The way they conspicuously hide Jon’s eyes at one point makes me think he really has warged into Ghost. Also, thinking about it, how else would Davos, Mel etc. know that he’s still alive (or rather, resurrectable)? Why would Davos (or Edd, for that matter) go along with a resurrection, unless he can see some kind of evidence that something weird is going on? Does Mel just get a sudden vision in the flames, and everyone instantly believes her?Jon with white eyes would be enough evidence that something funny is happening. If not that, there must be something else, some other kind of sign….

I think is either one of 2 things: Either people realize that Jon warged, or, just as Mel loses her faith, both she AND Davos see a “vision” in the flames and Davos becomes a “believer”.

  395. Connor:
Someone commented this on the Season 6 trailer on Youtube…gave me chills.

    “When winter comes…
    You’ll hear no lions roar…
    No stags grazing the fields…
No roses growing in the meadows…
    No snakes in the sand…
The krakens will freeze where they swim…
The flayed men will rot and wither…
No trouts swimming in the river and no falcons flying in the air…
Not even the dragon’s breath will warm you in your halls.
You shall hear only the wolves howl…
And then you will know. Winter has come.”

That is beautiful. But I would think that the literal “flayed men” would hold up much better during winter than the rest of the seasons.

  396. Apollo: Of what? I can’t see anything on my browser…

    Yeah, I can’t see anything either. ?

    Kargaryen:
    http://i.imgur.com/ifEr1sZ.jpg

Looks like Varys is in the catacombs with Tyrion!

Oooo, nice catch. Hmm, would Varys risk going into the catacombs to see/release the dragons. Maybe that’s not what Tyrion is doing afterall.

  397. Damphairintheshowplease!: Damphari was at the kingsmoot to.

Is that the person standing way over on the right with the long white (or platinum blonde) hair? That confused me for a moment…like, ‘What is Dany doing at the Kingsmoot?’

  398. Awesome sauce. Can’t wait. What’s good w/that music though, should’ve chose something else

  399. What I see… epicness!

Mel’s boob reveal – her face doesn’t seem very thrilled/dominant. I feel a strong Nissa Nissa vibe, bearing her breast to Longclaw in atonement for picking the wrong king. Very unsexy idea to me – but let’s pretend she gets to come back as Ghost!

It’s Benjen rescuing Meera, because I want it SO bad! I have no reason to want it, I just do. Hell, with the Night’s Watch done, maybe he can become the Regent for Rickon Lord of Winterfell? He’s been… wandering for years, for… no reason I can think of… crap.

    Eck,
Totally what the men will track, the place where the zillion horses twirled, near the place a dragon obviously slept. If they do a good job showing that the disturbing of the dirt, it’ll be fine. And we seem to confirm with the ring/fire shot that the men do find her no problem…

    Wimsey,
WHEN is the WW… very big question for me too! Bran seems quite startled, 1st true vision? An undirected vision that didn’t go where he expected?

  400. Ser Oromis Locke:
Also, there’s that Harry Potter-play that turned out to be made into a book later on..

The “book” isn’t a novel at all but rather the screenplay in its entirety, exactly as the play will be performed. Media really did a job on that one. Eighth book, indeed.

  401. Firannion,

I understand your reticence but it might be that the Wildlings have to leave in a hurry and Throne sends a crow to WF asking the Bolton’s to deal with a raiding party of wildlings. He might even gain favour by claiming to have killed the Stark Bastard.

  402. Ember:
    Ember,

Wouldn’t let me edit….. Meant to say basically that Stannis took the wildling army north of the wall –any enemy that could take Stannis would be frightening to a wildling army. Therefore flaying and burning Stannis could serve as a scare tactic.

If only the Thenns were there, they could be like, “Aww, aren’t those Boltons so cute and thoughtful: cooking us supper and everything.”

  403. OK, I don’t have time to comb through all the comments, but did anyone else notice that even though the Bran shot has to be a vision (he’s standing up, after all), the Night’s King LOOKS RIGHT AT HIM? As if he can see Bran even though he’s not actually there? That…scares me.

  404. The nasty bits:
Awesome sauce. Can’t wait. What’s good w/that music though, should’ve chose something else

Music was perfect for the quick action cuts starting at :58.

  405. outdoorcats:

NK looks more menacing with his makeover as well.

  406. weirwoodtreehugger,

I don’t think there’s anything in the scene between Bran and the NK to prove they’re “squaring off”, as some have suggested.

They might be, or the NK might be taking a (great-great-great?) grandfatherly interest in Bran’s education, showing him some highlights of recent or ancient history, giving him a different perspective on events, even recruiting him to the Dark Side (or the Light Side, depending on your point of view).

  407. Aryamad:
Charlie’s review of the trailer. I’m sure I’ve said it before but he’s my favorite GoT reviewer.

Me too. I may have a slight crush on the guy.

  408. BunBunStark:
If Ghost were dead (as I first feared) there’s no way he’d be standing.

    Well, unless he were stuffed.

Seriously, I’m right there with you.

  409. In Season 4 when bran has these visions after touching the weirwood tree, if you watch the visions carefully you can see in one of the scenes the NK, its sooo subtle but I wasn’t the only one here who noticed. theres definitely a relation there

  410. Bufferzone: I don’t think there’s anything in the scene between Bran and the NK to prove they’re “squaring off”, as some have suggested.

There are several other possibilities, too. Bran might be seeing things in the distant past: this might be how the show tells us the “why” of the Walkers. Alternatively, perhaps the Old Gods can communicate more directly with the Walkers than they can with humans, and this is a Weirnet analog of Skyping. I am sure that there are myriad other possibilities. Oh, and they could be squaring off, too…. 😉

Selina: I don’t know who it is, but I think I know how Bran gets the horse from the picture released in December.

As Bran will be doing a lot of visions this year, it’s probably are best a priori bet that it’s just part of a vision.

  411. Deesensfan:
Why do people want Cersei to take revenge blabla?
I hate her, I am sick of her succeeding. The walk of shame wasn’t enough

    Yes I am evil. Hahaha

I hate religious assholes more than I hate Cersei.

  412. outdoorcats,

it could be also that kind of “fake sight” shot where someone stares right at you then we are shown something else in his field of view and he keeps moving on, just like what happened in that scene between a white walker marching to the wall and Sam hiding behind a rock.

  413. outdoorcats,

Yes! It’s very fast, but it almost looks like they’re making eye contact. That could make sense, as we don’t know what the White Walkers are capable of, don’t know their tie to greendreams and weirnet. So little is known about them.

  414. Late to the party, but I’m sure I speak for everyone here when I say, “holy shitsnacks!”

  415. TheTouchofFrost,

I haven’t really seen anyone clamoring for Sansa or Rickon to warg.

The only stuff I’ve seen is about Arya and Jon warging, and given both of them have been shown to see through their direwolf’s eyes in the books, it makes sense, at least to me.
  416. Maria,

I agree. When slowed down to a quarter speed, which you can do with the settings gear across the bottom, they definitely seem to be making contact, which is what makes that scene especially eery.

  417. and about Ghost, actually if you play it frame by frame you really can see it moving. It’s a very subtle movement in the ears and head, but because everyone else in the room is rushing like hell it looks like the wolf is frozen!

  418. Holy smokes! Never thought I’d actually enjoy a Chris Isaak tune but they made this into a work of art!

Happy Tuesday indeed! Bring on Season 6!!!!

  419. No LSH ?
Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww – the *Polish Gurls* are gonna be SO disappointed.

  420. Laura: I hate religious assholes more than I hate Cersei.

The old saying “better the devil you know than the one you don’t” comes to mind here. Cersei is a villain indeed, but the Faith Militant is a potentially extremely dangerous organization, and there’s no telling what all they might do if they managed to take control of King’s Landing. Their track record thus far certainly isn’t very good.

Of course if Cersei goes full Mad Queen and turns King’s Landing into a green inferno as many suspect, I might have to take all of that back. Lol
  421. harlequeen,

I couldn’t spot Ghost (yeah, I know I’m an idiot, I just could not wait till the very end before going over it agan… duh!). But finally got there and… IDK, but Davos looks like he’s about to kill Ghost????? No, please no…

  422. Jack Bauer 24,

That is either the dragons wreaking havoc in Mereen, or a siege from the other free cities – or both.

Just worries me about seeing Tyrion in the catacombs, because I remember what happened to in the Dragon Tamer chapters in the last book. I hope Tyrion did not adopt someone elses story arc.

  423. wow…..The trailer ..gave me goosebumps. ..I was woahhh……when the night’s king was behind bran. …
and the Boltons flayed stannis. …??? that will be hard to watch. ….
man that jaqen hagar punched arya real hard. …
but for the most exciting part was ….tyrion in the dragons cave …….what will he do with them. …..
and by the way how did jorah find that ring …it was like finding needle in haystack. ……

  424. I think Ghost is standing. The position of his head, the fact that we don’t see his legs or paws, his height; I don’t think he’s dead or even injured.

  425. I could hardly believe it when I opened this site and saw the trailer had released!
Awesome trailer. The things I am most excited for:

    Cersei: I choose violence. Badass!
Davos and Ghost protecting Jon’s body. Whats Mel upto? The people who had guessed that Davos would steal Jon’s body might have been right.
Bran turning to find the Night’s King behind him.
Sansa looking regal. Also she seems to have reached the Wall and appears to be crying. Does that mean she reaches the Wall before Jon’s resurrection?
Rhaegal/Viserion (I am not sure who it was) freed.
Finally, Euron looking totally badass as he lowers his hood in the rain. I think he is going to be awesome!

  426. TheTouchofFrost,

You might not like it, but it’s already happened. GRRM gave all the Starks magic direwolves, and said in some interview that they could all warg. To date, Bran, Jon, and Arya have all warged. It’s obviously especially powerful in Bran’s case. Arya can see through the eyes of her wolf in her dreams; it’s very important for her that she be able to do this, as it is one of the things that helps her keep her identity as a Stark. Wildlings recognize Jon as a warg immediately. Like Arya, he can see through Ghost’s eyes, but he is aware, and resists it. I’d be surprised if some kind of wargy reunion were not in store for Arya and Nymeria. It wouldn’t be too insane to believe that Ghost plays a part in Jon’s resurrection.

  427. WHAT IF THAT SHOT OF THE HAND OVER THE FIRE IS A CERTAIN LADY IN THE TOJ HEAVILY PREGNANT …THERES SOMETHING ABOUT THE WAY THE HAND IS REACHING OUT … ALMOST AS IF FOR SUPPORT OR TO GET AWAY

ON A SIDE NOTE …HOW AWESOME IS MY LADY SANSA …. SOON TO BE QUEEN OF THE NORTH fingers crossed

  428. A couple of things to think about:

Why does Davos use Longclaw instead of his own sword? To honor Jon. For its Valyrian Steel properties. Because it is there. Each says something different.

Why is the flayed man burning? To my knowledge, the Boltons do not burn their flayed men, rather leaving them for people to see. Maybe that signifies a message by Boltons being sent, or maybe another force sending a message to them.

They showed Jon’s body a lot. That seems like they are really trying to convince everyone that he is dead.

At first I thought it was Mel and Asha/Yara, but that probably isn’t right.

  429. Theon is clean shaven with a haircut in front of the hounds, but in the official pics released earlier, he has shaggy hair & a beard when he & Sansa cross the river.

The candelabra in the Sansa pic looks like the ones in Winterfell.

A Night’s Watch bro could be attempting to rape Mel when she disrobes.

Looks like Jon’s hand is on his own chest & I think that’s cleavage on the person touching his forehead. Also, Ghost is absent.

That’s probably a CotF using a fireball against a wight. The wight has no weapons.

Looks like Littlefinger is in the woods at Winterfell. Who is he looking at?

I predicted Davos would snatch Longclaw. Ghost looks asleep. He doesn’t even flinch when Davos draws Longclaw. I agree most likely scenario is Davos is drawing Longclaw against Alliser & co. Who else would he be apologizing to? Also, it’s weird you can’t see Ghost when Davos draws Longclaw until the camera shifts.

When Jorah finds his precious, I mean the ring, he looks up probably at Drogon arising from his slumber. They probably follow him to Dany.

You can see the Wall in that shot of Davos standing over something as the son, I mean sun, rises.

Bran might be getting his greenseeing on but that WW is looking right at him.

The High Sparrow looks to be talking to a very large Kingsguard. No shots of Jaime in Kingsguard gear.

Whose ring is that on the lady caressing the brazier?

Looks like peasants attacking at the Red Keep’s door.

The trailer started off beautifully sad, capturing the essence of GRRM’s story.

    The Fandom is Coming.

  430. Nymeria Warrior Queen,

It is possible that GRRM is using major traumas to push Starks along in terms of becoming full-fledged wargs. On the show, both have now have undergone major traumas, and it is possible that we’ll see both of them doing this in the future.

Of course, it’s possible that they will limit it to Bran simply because the “wolf shots” are Bran shots. However, if Bran Fangorn starts doing much more lucid visioning (which seems to be happening), then the show could cede “wolf vision” warging to either Arya or Jon without confusing the audience. Personally, I would bet on Arya: but I would not bet very much!

  431. WinterWinds: I hope Tyrion did not adopt someone elses story arc.

Tyrion is the #3 protagonist in the series, whereas Dornish BBQ was a disposable one-off protagonist. That said, I would be quite a bit more than I offered to do in the prior post that Tyrion almost certainly will subsume the one important contribution Mr. Crispy Snake made to the over-arching plot: but Tyrion is going to wind up with a buddy, not looking like a Chernobyl victim.

  432. Greenjones:
    Abyss,

    Excellent as always! Thank you!

Hey Konrad, are you gurrls melting down over there or are you honeys trying to keep it at least minimally mature ? I mean…no LSH. You gotta be frustrated, ain´t it ?

  433. Okay. I’ve read every comment. My eyes hurt. Some assorted thoughts:

-An alarming number of uses of the word “definitely” are exactly wrong. It’s the new “literally”.

-I don’t get how so many think Sansa looks badass or queenly or whatever. Not that she isn’t or won’t be those things, but, really, she’s expressionless for half a second in this trailer.

-Bran and Night’s King blew my mind. They both look surprised to me; maybe they stumble across each other in the weirnet while spying on the same thing. Would be fun to confirm that warging and raising wights are related magics.

-The whole thing about Ghost moving or not is silly. Like, he might just, you know, not move for a second. Stranger things have happened.

-I desperately want the thing Davos is apologizing for to be something ridiculous. Like, showing off a sword trick…badly. That being unlikely, I do think there’s something more to it than simply getting ready for a fight. Something specific to Longclaw, like he wants to show them something with the Valyrian steel and is apologizing for being “unworthy” of unsheathing such a weapon. Or something.

  434. There are a couple of things this season that I know are going to make me cry.

    1. When Daavos learns about Shireen. I think the quick scene in the trailer were a hooded man is standing above a cold mountain is him with her crispy little body.

    2. IF Brienne finds Sansa and Sansa manages to get over to where Jon is (c’mon people, he’s alive. We’ve seen the pictures). The moment when Brienne tells them that Arya is alive or at least that she saw her in the Vale is going to be massive. I wonder if they are going to take Jon’s stance in the books were he sends someone in search for her (fake Arya / Jeyne Poole)

And finally (this is me just hoping because it would be pretty bad ass) 3. Maisie Williams; the actress who plays Arya said in an interview that this season were are going to see a completely broken down Arya SO; again, this is me over analyzing the trailer. WhIle experiencing her Blind Stage was when Arya truly got her warging vibe on, what if in one of her dreams she enters Ghost’s mind and sees her beloved brother dead? I think that would hurt her more than any slap from Jaqen.

PS. I don’t see what’s the hype seeing Asha lock lips with another woman. It’s Game of Thrones and her character is very carefree and open minded. Show me Gendry; that would merit hype.

  435. Kilgore Tully: An alarming number of uses of the word “definitely” are exactly wrong. It’s the new “literally”.

Actually, it is more like “logically,” which people use all the time for “it makes sense to me” instead of “it necessarily follows from X.” Of course, it’s the same problem: we get 8-9 different “definite” confirmations per shot. The fact that it can be any of them (or at least more than one of them) means (logically!) that we cannot that is definitely any of them.

Kilgore Tully: she’s expressionless for half a second in this trailer.

“If BadAss Queenly, then Expressionless; Expressionless; ergo, Affirm the Consequent!”

Kilgore Tully: They both look surprised to me; maybe they stumble across each other in the weirnet while spying on the same thing.

It might also be that this is the one way to communicate with the Walkers. Or Bran might be in the past seeing the Night King in some other time. (His outfit is a bit funky for this vision, for whatever that is worth.)

Kilgore Tully: Like, he might just, you know, not move for a second. Stranger things have happened.

When animals are in “fight or flight” mode, they often get ridiculously still. A big reason why humans will sometimes almost walk into big predators is that they stop moving so well that we don’t see them. (Of course, that’s exactly what they want: why work harder for your food than necessary?)

Kilgore Tully: I desperately want the thing Davos is apologizing for to be something ridiculous. Like, showing off a sword trick…badly. T

If by “sword trick,” you mean “elementary sword fighting,” then I suspect that you are going to get your wish. I mean, it’s definitely only logical, ironically enough….. 😀

  436. Lord Snow:
    Next question…

who’s voice is that saying “he’s gone” at 0:08? Kinda sounds like Davos, could be Edd I guess but I don’t think so

who else could it be? Thorne?

Sounds to me like Max von Sydow; either that or I listened to that darned Skyrim trailer so often that I hear him narrating *everything* nowadays.
    Lord Snow,

  437. roxWolfox,

I thought that it was the guy who plays Davos. Or Jaime. Or someone else. But definitely a man. Or a deep voiced woman. Or a very convincing robot. OK. I’m going with very convincing robot. Definitely….. 😀

  438. Now that’s a great way to wake up! Finally the trailer and it’s awesome! There is no getting of the hypetrain now.

“I’ve never been much of a fighter. Apologies for what you’re about to see.”

  439. Abyss: All up now. Some gifs didn’t turn out as well as I hoped they would,

Oh my goodness, Abyss, grand job, thank you so much. The work that must take. You are worthy of all high praise heaped at your altar. Not only do I appreciate the work, I got a big hoot out of the captions you gave some of them: Bros on a Search; I fucked up; I wish I could fly; My Precious; No clue what is going on; Shit is on; Shit is on even more. Lol. Nice work, no need for apologies. Thanks again from all of us.

  440. “I choose violence”

I’m finding myself rooting for Cersei this season. That can’t be right. Right?

  441. Jack Bauer 24,

Yes, it’s Dany’s ring. There’s two rings, the one with the pearls that she drops in season 5. And the other one, which she’s wearing on her right hand, which is supposed to be her mother’s ring. This ring she’s worn in every single scene she’s ever had in all 5 seasons. And that’s the ring in the trailer where she’s reaching out to the fire.

  442. EURON DOES NOT HAVE A EYE=PATCH/BLUE LIPS!!!!!!!!!!!!

    THANK THE SEVEN!!!!!

Sorry I can’t control the hype.

  443. Hmm…lion-Lannister. Stag-Baratheon. Dragon-Targaryen. Flayed men-Bolton, etc. Is this tryong to say only the wolves, Starks, can survive? Nice time for my computer to conk out so have to use my shitty ass phone slow pain in my arse unresponsive thing that it is! Ack.

  444. Mihnea,

It worked! Our nuts have saved the week.

    Mihnea:
EURON DOES NOT HAVE A EYE=PATCH/BLUE LIPS!!!!!!!!!!!!

    THANK THE SEVEN!!!!!

Sorry I can’t control the hype.

As to the eye patch I agree, but I wish he had a black eye, that would fit the mysteriousness of his character so well.

  445. Joffrey’s Cunt,

Eye color is something that doesn’t work well on TV.
Look at the Targaryans, they don’t have purple eyes, it would simple be too much work for too little pay-off.

Euron’s eyes in the book have one purpose, too show his dual nature.
Funny Euron who drinks with his crew.
And crazy Euron who feeds other people human flesh.
It’s a basic trick that works well in books.

All this can be done in TV/Movies trough a dozen different things, like the actor himself for one.

Well I understand that, but still, it would’ve been really cool and different from the other “villains”
I’ve always found interesting the theory that he sacrificed his eye for dark magic.

  447. thremnir,

Loved Davos’ line but my vote for best quote is from Cersei… “I choose violence.” She is going to go cray and I love it!

  448. Mihnea,

Agreed. There are lots of things that appear fine when reading, but when you actually see them visually they look cheap and clichéd.

  449. flintstonewielder:
    No LSH ?
Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww – the *Polish Gurls* are gonna be SO disappointed.

In the unlikely event that LSH is shown in some capacity this season, there is no frakking way that they would show her in the trailer.

  450. Abyss,

Thank you, Great Maester of Gifs! What does the ring on your maester chain look like? May your war colours always be bright and scary!

  451. Maceless Fan,

In one scene we see Ser Alliser and the mutineers trying to break down a door. Then we see Davos in the room with Jons corpse, Ghost, and Nights Watch brothers that were loyal to Jon. So I’m betting Davos is talking to the loyal nights watch brothers and they’re all about to take on Ser Allisers crew when they break down the door.

I like Davos’s chances with Longclaw and Ghost. Also betting that Ed is in the room off camera in that part of the clip we were shown.

  452. Jeb,

For all his brilliant world building, Martin does tend to go over the top in describing more ‘exotic’ cultures. All the puppy killing, breast-baring, stilt-walking, blue-beardedness of Essos has turned it into some kind of fantasy parody at times. Don’t know how he went from describing a fairly interesting portrayal of Dothraki culture to the general one-dimensional characters populating Slaver’s Bay. Have to admit it was easy for the show to improve upon those storylines. Sometimes it seems like the Essos and Westeros parts of the books were written by different authors.

Regarding Euron, it is the portrayal of the actor that will make or break the character. Hope he will be more of cross between Victarion and Euron, showing what is considered a heroe in Iron Islands cultures (basically Victarion I suppose). It does seem that they are throwing out the Faceless connection (unless Euron is not the real Euron). Still wondering where all those links in the books, including Oldtown, are heading.

  453. koempel:

Have to admit it was easy for the show to improve upon those storylines. Sometimes it seems like the Essos and Westeros parts of the books were written by different authors.

Martin, for all the realism he brought to fantasy, is at heart a great fan of the weird and the exotic that characterized much of early fantasy (and horror) such as works by Robert E. Howard, H.P. Lovecraft, and others. The farther one goes from (relatively normal) Westeros, the stranger and crazier the cultural backdrop gets. And finally, when you leave the charted regions, you come upon totally otherworldly stuff like Asshai, the Deep Ones, Carcosa, plague-infested cyclopean ruins of Sothoryos, etc.

Sure, it can seem like a parody, but in truth it is Martin’s love letter to the adventure stories of his youth and a reminder that there are mysteries out there that are unknown and unknowable.

Which just reminded me of Babylon 5. This clip shares something of this sentiment. I recommend you watch it; it’s not long. For those who are impatient and would like to “get to the point”, jump to 1:45.

  454. Wimsey,

You asked about the music. These are the lyrics from the Chris Isaak song WICKED GAME that are used in the trailer:

The world was on fire and no one could save me but you.
It’s strange what desire will make foolish people do.

What a wicked game you play to make me feel this way.
What a wicked thing to do, to let me dream of you.

No, I wanna fall in love
    With you.

    Nobody loves no one.

You can see the complete lyrics here:

    http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/chrisisaak/wickedgame.html

  455. Good stuff, watched it a dozen times thus far.

Very intrigued by the rider with the flaming ball on a chain.

  456. Praise be to the drowned God

Sarah L: Whose ring is that on the lady caressing the brazier?
Looks like peasants attacking at the Red Keep’s do

  457. Nymeria Warrior Queen,

I think if Rickon begins to feature more they will be and Sansa hasn’t got a wolf so…
The hints at warging (which they’ve done with Rob and Rickon too) is merely a bit of extra detail to show that it appears to be a trait that isn’t fully explored in all Starks. Bran was the Stark that did explore it because he lost his mobility.

    Maria,

See above comment! It’s not needed in Arya’s storyline and it’s not needed in Jon’s storyline. It’s pretty much there to remind the reader of the link between the Stark chlidren. I would be surprised/ a bit annoyed if it became a part of the main plot as would start to become corny and devalue Bran’s story if the world and his wife have warging abilities. Plus it overloads characters like Jon and Arya who already have enough going on without something else, that really isn’t needed, thrown onto them.
In what I think will be more of a practical reason for it not happening, the show appears incredibly reluctant to feature the direwolves (I guess they don’t like spending money on the CGI?!) as even Ghost (Jon’s pretty much constant companion) regularly goes on long hiatus’. If they were going to bring in more warging then they would need more of this type of CGI.
Let’s also not forget it took Bran a long time to get the hang of warging and that was with no other distractions and the help of Jojen who had knowledge of these things. To think Arya and/or Jon could just pick it up naturally is silly. Flashes of warging and wolf dreams: fine. But full-blown warging. No:Stupid.
One warging story is enough for me, hopefully the powers that be will agree.

  458. Carrick:
    Jon Snow’s Curling Iron,

    Plausible.

Here are frame-grabbed images from that scene.

    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4520911/Movies/Game_of_Thrones.zip

Seems like he’s wearing the same outfit that Jon Stark was wearing in the leaked image:

    http://www.aceshowbiz.com/images/news/jon-snow-seen-alive-on-game-of-thrones-belfast-set-photos.jpg

I’m curious if people notice other details about armor etc.

I think you can see it in frame 8. The front of the uniform looks just like the one Ned used to wear in King’s Landing. And I see some blue on the sleeves. Thanks!

  459. My guess is Davos has the conversation with Mel and later is atop the wall and notices Jon’s body and …

  460. TheTouchofFrost,

Well per GRRM, all the Stark kids are wargs, some have or show it more then others, I think the Wolves are their first conduit into learning and seeing, but they can warg other animals also.
Sansa has it to what degree is a question, and what would be her conduit a dog or birds?

  461. Jon was defintely able to warg into ghost’s body and is still alive through that and mel has to do a ritual to get him back into his own body, ghost may be a sacrafice?

  462. grailking,

I think they all have potential and have the wolf dreams. I can’t see Sansa ever exploring it. I doubt Jon nor Arya will do to a significant extent either. My argument is that it’s not a going to feature in a major way in the storyline. Warging has been explored via one character already. It’s one of those extra bits of detail that the book can throw in but wouldn’t work all that well in the show.

  463. In the trailer when it shows sansa, behind her is a sigil with a fish on it..could he be rescued by blackfish or his men? 🙂

  464. Kells,

It does sound just like Rory saying “He’s gone”…wondering if they used that audio from a scene later with Brienne and Ian McShane.

    Trying to throw us off..

    aldeatcu,

Pretty sure that’s the House Umber sigil. The very bottom of it showing two open shackles on a black background.

  465. In trailer we see Melisandre undressing, she has a look on his face like seeing a corpse.Perhaps she has to lay near Jon to give him the fire that she said in within her,and maybe a “kiss of fire”. 😀
