  1. Hi! Whenever I switch from the video to the comments, it stops playing. Any way to avoid that?

    Thanks!

  2. Ready to celebrate this beautiful show with the best Game of Thrones fan community out there, one more time! Let’s hand out some awards!

  3. Happy for Alfie Allen and Gwendoline Christie. Those wins were expected, but deserved.

I loved “Died protecting his queen.” That was such a touching moment, and spoke volumes about Brienne’s love for Jaime. That moment still makes me tear up on every viewing. Beautifully written, even with no dialogue.

Argggghh!!! I was bloviating in the prior post’s Comments section and blew my chance for the Arya Funko Pop. 🤢

Ten Bears, if I’m the first, that Arya is yours!! <3

Oh how nice of you! However, it looks like someone might have gotten in seconds apart from you. (Both at 8:30 pm) 😣

I was a mere fraction of a second too late! I overthought the decision to include the <3 with two 3’s or one!

  7. Peter never won an award here and that’s complete nonsense. Fandom always ignored Peter, I guess because he is the most popular with critics, industry and general audience.

But still it is ridiculous to never give him award.

  8. Thank you all for a great awards ceremony! Loved listening in and participating. Thank you also for the opportunity to win. Hope to be able to make it to Con of Thrones.

  9. Loved the ceremony! It was great to remember so many moments from this past and final season and analyze what happened. Definitely, a lot of nostalgia!

The giveaways were awesome, thanks for the gift! 🙂

  10. Yep, I had to try to separate the context of “what’s happening” from the execution of the visual effects/animation, acting, and whatnot. And even so I mostly wound up voting for stuff from the first half of the season. ;p But Drogon nudging poor Dany was just ;_____;
…And I’d take Nash Bridges over Buffy. ;p
Missed the Sansa Pop question though I knew the answer–but it’s just as well, I’d probably end up beheading her anyways… B-/
    But that was fun! Night!

Although nothing can top watchersonthewall Awards, multiple Emmys are a consolation, wouldn’t you say?

  12. Pigeon:
Thanks, everyone! Appreciate “seeing” you, and all the hard work put in to doing the awards. 😊

Well, I missed the Awards ceremony. (Real world intruded.)

    Who/what won?

  13. Adrianacandle,

It’s just as well. Although I’d probably make an exception for an Arya or Sandor Funko Pop, I’ve had a philosophical problem with the Funko Pop figurines since they’re all the same ping pong ball-shaped heads with minor distinguishing features and “costumes,” for prices that seem disproportionate to the cost of production.

However, far be it for me to judge others’ taste in memorabilia; and besides they’ll probably increase in value as collectibles.

Also, I’m the last one who should whinge about cost. A while back, I bid amounts I couldn’t justify for the framed, autographed (by Maisie Williams) enlarged Arya Stark stamp. A “sniper” beat me out with a last-second bid, which was probably a blessing in retrospect.

I relate! I’ve had my eye on the $500 Dyson hairdryer forever now — even though I can’t even begin to justify a $500 hairdryer, I actually nearly bought it myself until my phone took a spectacular fall and stole that dream away from me…

And now I’m reading the reviews for it again and… part my heart still hurts.

  15. Thanks to all for a wonderful, witty and informative ceremony. Your inputs have meant so much over the years and am looking forward to the future books and spinoffs. Thanks again!

  16. I apologize for the Dyson hairdryer thread derailing.

    Ten Bears,

    Behold!!

No lasers, no cobalt blue accessories, just a supersonic hairdryer that’s supposed to cut down drying time by a lot, leave hair feeling weightless, smooth out frizzies, and make your hair into pure magic. Which I’d really really like! It takes me 30 minutes to dry my hair! And I’d love for it to be left smooth and feeling weightless… And it’d go with my stuff…

    I’m a vain creature 🙁

To all, it’s been really nice taking part in this community and I enjoyed listening to the livestream tonight! I’m going to miss new GOT details coming out about the show. My favourite time was always pre-season, that was the absolute best — with all the speculation and new promos coming out 🙂

Thank you Heike! Con of Thrones!

    Thank you for watching, Pigeon!

    Thanks for watching!

  20. I just watched most of the video of the Awards. Quite entertaining, and I for one appreciated thx high quality audio. My two cents:

Whinging out of the way first: Neither Rory McCann (Supporting Actor nominee) nor Maisie Williams (Lead Actress nominee) won their categories. 🥵 Damn it! Who does Arya gotta kill to pick up some hardware?
    ____________
    The Winners….

Jaime knighting Brienne (S8e2) cleaned up. It won:
    – Best Dramatic Scene;
    – Best Speech (by Jaime); and
    – All Around Best Quote (Jaime reciting knight’s vows)

Plus, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau won Best Leading Actor with 40% of the vote. (Kit Harington came in third.)

Emilia Clarke won Best Leading Actress with 61% of the vote. (No surprise there. S8 was Dany’s Descent.)

Alfie Allen cruised to Best Supporting Actor with 47% of the vote.

    A couple of landslides:
Gwendoline Christie – Best Supporting Actress with 89% of the vote.
Carice van Houten – Best Guest Actress with ?%

Vladimir Furdik (NK) Best Guest Actor (61%)

In somewhat of an upset, Sandor vs. Gregor won Best Fight with 32% of the vote. (It seems too many fans were waiting too long for their CleganeBowl fan service to be denied.)

Best Battle = Battle of WF. No surprise there.

Best Death: Ser Jorah Mormont. (NK 2nd place)

Best New Costume: Sansa’s coronation gown with an impressive 60.17%.

Best Visual Scene: In close voting, Jon & Dany on dragons soaring above the clouds against a moonlit sky won with 29.89%.

Personally, I wasn’t excited about the “Funniest” categories this season. The winner of Funniest Scene was Tormund/giant’s milk (31%); Finniest Quote: “Stand back! He’s got blue eyes!” (30.91%).

I missed a few at the end.

  21. I just finished watching the awards- wasn’t able to watch it live. Thank you all for the hard work you put in to these awards. It was so much fun to think back over these episodes as I voted, and also fun to listen to the discussion before each winner was announced. Now I need to watch the season again… 😊
