  1. That was totally my fault- I sent Axey the wrong link, it should’ve been Dinklage’s new Daily Show interview.

My only excuse is that I just had my gallbladder surgery and I’m on a lot of Percocet.

  2. The Simpsons’ last episode had a GOT inspired segment. Some context, Homer was selected as the new Duff beer spokeperson, Duffman

I have to add, that the GOT opening sequence is truly a novel concept that up until recently the idea of hovering over different location was being used on various other promos, mostly sporting events

  3. Great interviews .. oh and I’m in love with Carice .. btw I’m not sure if this has been posted or not but there’s a new photo of dany and drogon I just found (different angle) …

My bad if it was already posted here ..

  4. In the Huffington live video with NCW there is also a significant part of the scene between Jaime and Cercei next to Tywin’s body.. If someone can post the link.. Nice interview.

  5. Sue the Fury,

Sorry guys, I sent that to Sue; it was on NPRs sitepage and so I thought it was new. Still interesting to listen to three years later but yeah, nothing to see here, move along…

  6. Now these are great~!

But I can’t watch the first video from The Daily Show T~T…
    It says:
“Sorry, but this video is unavailable from your location. In case you can’t give up your free healthcare and move to America, you can watch the daily show with Jon Stewart at TheComedyNetwork.Ca”

‘^’ It seems that I have no choice, huh?

  7. I love Stewart but I found his interview with Peter kind of disappointing. It seemed pretty obvious (to me, anyway) that he doesn’t really know much about the show, which made it a tad awkward. Annnnd… I was going to end with a joke about people named Jon S. knowing nothing, but I’ll spare you all, you’re welcome.

  9. ace,

Thanks !! I love interviews that are more ‘laid back’ even though the interviewer was a bit annoying.

NCW was very tight-lipped, but he mentioned in R+L=J ,the interviewer think it means Jon is half-Targ half-Baratheon and she’s a book reader lol

He also confirms he will be the next “Bobby Bond” haha

  10. ace,

Thanks – NCW is charming as always and was toying with the interviewer. Definitely should guest on “Louie”

  11. Nikolaj joined Twitter today! His account is @nikolajcw if you’re interested! 🙂 Dreams do come true 😉

Enjoy the percocet, Sue, and speedy recovery!

  12. Maisie is so mature! Nicolaj is so funny! And Jimmy Fallon killed it with “I’m so Excited.”

    1 day, 22 hours…and counting…[grits teeth]

  13. ash,

Alan Carr? He’s alright. Very camp but you get used to it as he comes over as genuine. Must say I prefer his (and British chat shows in general) informal style as most US ones feel quite forced for me. Didn’t mind Letterman and Craig Ferguson was very good (although I guess he’s Scottish but the show is American!). Not quite sure how Jimmy Fallon has got to where he is. His producers and writers are solid but it’s like he’s had a charisma bypass!

  14. I was kind of bummed with the short amount of time they talked to Nikolaj on Jimmy Fallon. I kind of expected it though because Madonna was the other guest and most of the show was dedicated to her. I wish her random stand up comedy bit could have been cut to give more time to talk to him 🙂 It was still a fun interview though. Thanks for the roundup! Bring on Season 5!!

  15. Turncloak,

I have no idea how that would work! My money is still on the Blackfish.
Hound show theories though, maybe the Hound is taken in by that religious bloke and his daughter who he robbed (maybe as they travel north to see his brother). Can’t see the Quiet Isle putting in an appearance so this could be Sandor’s religious fix. Unless the High Sparrow picked him up on his travels. Cleganebowl is on!

  16. Isabelle,

Thanks! I’m cruising on my pain pills right now so I’m doing alright. Should be fun trying to post up some interviews later. If you see some gibberish, erm that’s why.

    Turncloak,

I’m not sure how that works either. Agree that the Blackfish would be a better candidate. Also from his AMA…

I know the Iron Islands/Greyjoys/Victarion subplot from AFFC will not be in this season and there are no plans to do it — it’s just too tangential to the main action.

Is he suggesting that the Iron Islands subplot has been eliminated from the show (and not just S5)? If so, it isn’t unexpected but it is surprising to have him say it.

  18. mariamb,

It was a possibility that this subplot and its related characters wouldn’t be permanently cut, but it never was particularly likely, so I don’t think it’s such a big deal that Hibberd’s officially confirming it. Of course, even after this some people will remain hopeful, so probably The Watchers on the Wall should report this, specifically. Not to crush anyone’s souls —just so that they’re not waiting for them to appear a year from now only to be disappointed again.

BTW, I’m not usually one to “ship” real people (it’s kinda gross), but Isaac Hempstead-Wright and Nell Tiger Free going on a date is just too cute, especially after seeing them having fun at the premiere. It’s cool too see the actors become friends, considering some actors have no scenes together, since their characters never meet.

  19. mariamb,

He’s always been tight-lipped about show spoilers, which is one of the main reasons he cites in that AMA for his great relationship with D&D and HBO —they keep giving him exclusives because they can trust him to handle the information he gains from the set correctly.

However, contrary to D&D, Hibberd has never shown any issues with talking freely about ASOIAF stuff that won’t be in Game of Thrones, since they are only book spoilers. The point is, when he claims a certain Lady isn’t gonna appear any time soon, or that these drowned vikings will never show up, from his show-only point of view he really isn’t spoiling anything. And he’s sure about those —if not, he wouldn’t have reported about the former being cut in his Season 5 EW issue. He had a whole paragraph spoiling who this character is, and the fact that she would never appear on the show. Some may not like this tendency of his, but he’s been more transparent than D&D, which is nice, and he’s always consistent.

  20. Luka Nieto,

Agree. I’m not questioning his methods. I like Hibberd, for the most part. I was just surprised to read his statement about the elimination of the subplot because it is the first “confirmation” that we have gotten. (Even though many suspected that it would be eliminated.)

  21. mariamb,

Only issue I can see him having is with Brienne (which he only has because of the show). The brotherhood hate him, he hates them, he doesn’t care about anyone else and certianly wouldn’t hold a vendetta against the Freys/Boltons.

On the other potential news, I must admit I will be very disappointed if it’s true as I found it one of the most interesting parts/characters of the last two books. Was hoping for a condensed down version of the storylines so will live in hope until it’s official but it’s not looking good. Makes you wonder what they’re going to do with Balon and Yara now. Also with this and the Griffs seemingly cut, can we read into this that they don’t play a major role in the books? Although they seem to be changing a lot from them now so I think both mediums could end up being incredibly different stories from now on which is both a shame but perhaps a good thing.

  22. Regarding the Iron Islands, Euron or no, will the show at least follow up on the third leech? Seems kinda important.

  23. Mr Fixit,

I think that they do have to follow-up on it: its Chekov’s 3rd Leech.

Balon will probably die off-screen and we will hear about it in Theon or Yara’s story line. Did we ever find out if Gemma Whelan filmed any scenes this season?
  24. mariamb,

In regard to the Iron Islands plot, I think everyone assumed the Kingsmoot was gone but perhaps some of the characters may remain in regards to other plotlines?

We could easily hear about Euron deposing Balon off screen. I think Euron’s inclusion will depend on whether we see Oldtown or not as he is in that vicinity. Would be amased if Victarion made it now. Yara could perhaps take his role but it’s looking like The second siege of Mereen isn’t happening so will there be a need for Ironborn presence? I guess it all depends on where things are going that none of us actually know!.

. Be a shame if Euron was gone as I think the character was perfect for the show and would tie in with the leech and “uncles burning Lannisport” bits earlier very nicely.
Only other thing that keeps the hope alive is that they normally introduce at least a few new characters each season. I can’t think of anyone else of significance that they really need to add except Young Griff so not sure how that will figure in?

Thanks for your perspective. I duno he seems too much like the emcee in Hunger Games – but he probably is an acquired taste. I honestly don’t watch too many chat shows because the hosts often seem insincere and honestly not the least bit funny (Jon Stewart and Colbert the exceptions) I do appreciate Brit humor and am very thankful for Jon Oliver!

  26. Sue the Fury,

The post looks great, so have no fear.

The bro also found ginger-lemon-honey tea quite soothing, as a general sort of “make my body hate me less” strategy. 🙂

  27. ash,

I think, it’s because he came up through the stand up scene and addressed he homosexuality and campness early in his career so people moved past it. Also he’s not a one-trick pony who goes back to his sexuality for laughs all the time. There’s better stand ups out there but he’s ok.
I was wondering where Jon Oliver went! Used to be on a few panel shows over here and then disappeared! If he tickles you then you might like Richard Ayoade, Marcus Brigstock and David Mitchell. They’ve all done various shows and regularly pop up on panel shows like ‘Would I Lie To You’, ‘Mock the Week’, ‘Big Fat Quiz of the Year’ and ‘Argumental’ over here.
