Updated! Episode 4 of Game of Thrones Season 7, “The Spoils of War,” leaked by hackers!

Daenerys can't believe this shit is happening... again
Daenerys can’t believe this shit is happening… again

When HBO was hacked a few days ago, we all knew what was probably about to happen: yet another Game of Thrones leak. Sadly, it has just happened. The news are certainly not positive here, but they are thankfully not as disastrous as in previous years.

The first four episodes of season five were once stolen and, of course, there was that thorough summary of season seven based on pre-shooting scripts. This time it was a single episode that leaked, the one airing this coming Sunday, The Spoils of War.

Needless to say, at Watchers on the Wall we will not provide any links to this stolen material, nor will we allow any talk of the episode in the comment section before it airs. If you have watched the leaked episode, however, and you can’t help yourself, you may discuss it to your heart’s content at the spoiler-filled Quarantine Zone in our forums. But we must insist: any discussion of the leaked episode in the comments section, whether it is spoiler tagged or not, will be deleted, and the poster may face a ban.

We thank all of you in advance for your cooperation in making sure leaks are relegated to their proper place in the forums and nowhere else, to keep the majority of the people in the comments section who won’t watch the leaked episode safe from spoilers.

Update: HBO has responded to the new leak with a mildly confusing and somewhat funny in a messed up way response.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the network claims that the episode leak has nothing to do with the major leaks reported recently and in fact comes from a network in India. EW reports:

an HBO insider says the leak is not part of the major hack of HBO which first broke Monday morning and contained a script from the same episode.

The episode leaked from Star India, one of HBO’s international network partners, which receives episodes in advance of air. (There’s apparently a watermark on the video which outs Star India as the source).

  1. Interesting! Well i don’t really see the point in watching the episode 2 days early… Do people really not have the self control / anything better do with those 48 hours?

  2. Gfx,

As will I. I live in South Africa, and GOT airs at 3 o’clock on Monday morning – but part of the excitement is staying up to watch it, knowing that fellow fans all around the world are doing the same thing so we can all experience it together.
It’s part of what makes this show so special.

  3. Wonder if that’s why they haven’t released title/synopsis for 7.05 yet. Not happy with people.

  4. I don’t know but if Sony fixed their cyber security HBO ought go ask who they hired!
HBO has complained about piracy and the leaking of teleplay info but seems lax in fixing it.

  5. I can wait two more days.

I have already accepted as a fact that the series ending WILL be leaked next season. Oh, I’m sure HBO and D&D will do everything they can to try and prevent it, but they won’t be able to. Hacker jerks who just enjoy ruining things like this will be all over it. Plus, you have the segment of GRRM sycophants who are mad that D&D didn’t stop the show to wait for him to finish the books (that he is never going to finish) and just want to damage the show that made GRRM rich.

So, it will happen and it will be difficult to avoid. But, you know what? If GRRM had finished the books we would know the ending and would still watch. So, no matter what, I will watch and re-watch all the episodes on HBO, not illegally.

  6. I LOVE spoilers and knowing about what’s going to happen ahead of time. For me it’s more enjoyable to watch something with anticipation of what’s to come. Whenever I watch something new that excites me I always watch it again so I can savor what I just saw.

But I would NEVER spoil anything for anyone else because I know that it’s upsetting for people who want to be surprised.

There are all kinds of people in the world and no need to diss anyone else’s tastes.

  7. I often wonder if the internet has made the world a better or worse place. It’s really 50/50.

I will be waiting for the airings on HBO. I watched the leaked episodes of season 5 and it took away the fun of waiting a week for each episode. With a quality show, having a full week to digest the content makes the show even better.

  8. There are people who get their jollies out of making people angry at them by doing stuff like this. They have no power themselves, so they think this gives them some. Don’t give it to them. Ignore them. Tho I admit its impossible to do in the wide world web that we all live in, the less we say, the better.

I will say however that HBO needs to do a hell of a lot better to keep this from happening. Not sure what they need to do, but I hope its done soon.

  9. The quality will be poor and you’ll almost certainly end up opening up 20 tabs full of dodgy ads. If it was four weeks early watch it, but two days? There’s no point now.

I do prefer binge watching though as you can do on Netflix.

  10. I’ve already prepared myself for the possibility that I will find out the ending of the series…. through a reddit comment.

It’s simply impossible in this day and age to keep things under wraps, especially for a show that’s as popular as GoT. The “who shot JR” days are long gone.

  11. I absolutely despise this shit…
    UGHHHHHHHHHH WHY!

I mean.. didn’t people already know what was going to happen

    Makes me so mad.

  12. not going to say anything except that its one of the best episodes in the show.

  13. Gonna stay away from the internet till Sunday. Thanks for the heads up good fellas at the WotW

  14. Kinda disingenuous to virtue signal about the purity of this board re: spoilers since you do provide a quarantine link with everything laid out. Surprised y’all haven’t been paid a visit.

  15. Now Hibberd says the leaked episode is not from the hack, but from Star India, HBO’s distributor in India. Apparently a coincidence.

  16. Yeah, I agree with everyone else. As hard as it can be to wait a week between episodes, I’ve already waited five so far. I can deal with another two. And I’ll probably be avoiding most of the internet, especially sites like Tumblr because I saw them going crazy talking about it in the tag before finding out the whole episode was leaked. Apparently, those of us that don’t want to be spoiled are at fault for going into the tag even though the episode hasn’t air yet ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  17. Stoneheart:
I’ve seen the link but won’t download it or watch it. I’m feeling bad for HBO 🙁

I doubt it will affect the viewership in any significant way. Most people who have watched the 360p video leak will want to rewatch it in 1080p.

  18. Flayed Potatoes,

Yeah, I fully expect to know how the series ends by the end of this year lol. The problem is there are soo many fake leaks floating around on Reddit, how will we even know the real ones among them!

  19. It’s not worth it, it’s only a crommy 360p resolution video, screw the leaker, doesn’t even have the ability to get an HD leak, I prefer to wait for sunday.

  20. Learning to live without instant gratification is part of becoming a grownup. And anticipation makes it sweeter when it finally does arrive. I am content to watch it on Sunday night.

  21. There is no way that the ending won’t leak before the end of this year. And I want to know. Waiting for 2019 is not an option for me.

  22. Boojam,

I thought I read that HBO did hire someone who helped with Sony.

I like guessing what might happen, coming up with wild theories, trying to find evidence to support them and the like, but hearing true spoilers is no fun.

  23. I want to know what happens next episode so bad…. but I prefer wait to the actually episode airs… first better quality… second out of respect for the crew that works hard every year to make the show…

  24. HBO network partners…always leaking titles or videos since forever LOL
I pay my subscription so I will be watching on monday with the family.

  25. I didn’t know that the actual episode had leaked I thought it was a’ what was happening in the episode leak’!! Although I can’t wait to see it every week it’s the excitement of getting in the office next day and having a postmortem chat with a colleague that makes Mondays bearable😀 so shall be Sky + ing 2am Monday as always and getting up at 5.30am to watch before work.

  26. Dee Stark,

Hi Dee, yep I agree 100%. Its fucking despicable that this shit goes on!

I don’t have a problem with filming leaks like as happened in Spain last year, but when scripts or full episodes get leaked on line, I’m not happy with that whatsoever 🙁

Blimey! In a few weeks S7 will all be over and then starts the long weight for S8 and probably much longer than we waited for this season to be aired.

HBO really need to tighten up their security as I for one certainly have no desire to know how GoT will end!

  27. I’m managed to stay spoiler free so far and thank you for keeping this place safe from spoilers too.

  28. Carole H:

Nice one Carole – Hope you enjoyed your holiday? Did you nip down to the hotel bar in the early hours to watch Ep1 or wait until you got home?

On Sky Atlantic (and +1 hour) its repeated many times during the week. I’ve probably seen Ep3 about 6 times now 😉

  29. Firannion:
Learning to live without instant gratification is part of becoming a grownup. And anticipation makes it sweeter when it finally does arrive. I am content to watch it on Sunday night.

Yeah, people are used to and love binge-watching these days thanks to Netflix and other services. I do as well, but I see the negative parts of it. When Netflix puts up full seasons of a show I like I end up watching it all in a few days and then I have to wait that much longer for the next season. I’ve noticed the buzz for original programs like that seems to be shorter too. That should be expected when ‘everyone’ watches it right away you can only talk about it for a couple weeks before it’s old news. The biggest loss though is not enjoying the kind fun we have on a site like this. There’s a schedule to what we do here and following that schedule and participating step-by-step during the season (and year) makes GoT that much better. If we all were able to watch the entire season in one sitting we’d lose all that…

  30. Blanche Holstein,

It’s not “virtue signaling,” it’s dealing with the reality that most people who’ve watched it can’t shut up about it. We have a lot of experience with this, we see it year after year. So we as site-runners have to deal with it and protect the fans who are patient enough to wait.

  31. Flayed Potatoes,

My biggest fear is that the leaks come after the filming spoilers. How will we know that it is true then.If it is like this year then cool but otherwise we are screwed lol.

  32. Tim:
    Boojam,

I thought I read that HBO did hire someone who helped with Sony.

Hmmm…. have not heard of Sony being hit again … o well.
Amazon must have a fearsome fence …. something like Mother Hitten’s L’ll Kittens ….
    HBO needs that.

  33. Lord of Coffee: Plus, you have the segment of GRRM sycophants who are mad that D&D didn’t stop the show to wait for him to finish the books (that he is never going to finish) and just want to damage the show that made GRRM rich.

GRRM was on the best seller list and #1 best seller with the first 3 books LONG before any show. It’s the very reason film companies and HBO were interested in adapting it in the first place. The show made him more rich no doubt, but it’s not like was struggling for money. D&D on the other hand are the ones who got rich and famous off the show and good for them.

  34. Ser Hogwyn,

Not really. There are people who watch it because they can’t wait and it’s just their personality but don’t go around spoiling it to other people.

  35. Way too busy with Pokémon Go legendary raids to watch it anyway. Won’t even watch it Sunday until an hour after it airs.

  36. HelloThere:

I can wait 2 days to watch it in 1080p rather than 360pwith a watermark, lol

THIS. It’s not quite GOT if you can’t watch/appreciate the full quality.

  37. Sigh…..

I will wait like everybody else. Besides, why would you want to watch the most beautiful show ever made in 360p??

  38. It’s funny, but I used to really like the spoilers back before the show surpassed the books. I have read all of the books, so I guess maybe I felt that it wasn’t really spoiling anything for me, I just wanted to see how it would be adapted on screen. Now, I don’t like them at all. I want to be just as surprised as anyone else. Thanks for making this an ep. 4 spoiler free zone!!!

  39. Flayed Potatoes,

True. And whatever spoilers Sue posts will also help in that regard.

    Jenny,

The leakerbowl that went on at Freefolk after filming was done was ridiculous lol. I can do without a repeat of that. Hopefully whoever decides to leak this time does so before filming gets wrapped.

  40. Perhaps someday in the distant future, our galaxy-traversing descendants will finally discover the reason why anyone would want to watch leaked episodes of “Ballers” and “Room 104.”

Until then it will no doubt remain a mystery.

  41. mau,

    This is depressing
This is not how the ending to one of the greatest stories ever told should be learned
People have been waiting since the 90s.
I will try to avoid it, but I am sure some recommended video on YouTube one day will spoil it in the title.

Grrm, why did u let this happen? 🙁

  42. mau,

Yes it’s inevitable really. The curiosity for this show has reached fever pitch levels. And the production is just too big.So many affiliates. They can’t contain it.

  43. “the network claims that the episode leak has nothing to do with the major leaks reported recently and in fact comes from a network in India. EW reports:

Traitors! Were they curry-ing fan favour? I refuse to believe that the only good India is a dread India. (Sorry, can’t resist).

But I can resist watching it for 2 days 9 hours 19 minutes and 37 seconds.* Blimey, what’s the rush? Happily, word on the street-Net is that it’s a terrific episode.
Considering that all that quality is packed into a the shortest episode ever, and that the preview hints my favourite character is back, I am content. Bring on Sunday!

    * Make that 2 days 9 hours 14 minutes and 25 seconds. But who’s counting ;-} .

  44. HelloThere,

    I can’t wait Lol

I just don’t care for spoilers. I want to see HOW, not WHAT.

And only 2% of superfans will know spoilers. It won’t ruin anything.

  45. Too bad they can’t hack GRRM’s computer and see what the status is. Of course, they’d probably find a single document simply repeating, “All work and no play makes George a dull boy”. 😉

  46. Black Raven,

Didn’t see it till afternoon I felt like I was having withdrawel symptoms, shakes had started 😀. Everything conspired against me until a lovely young man behind the bar in a pub in Brighton sorted it for me. He probably thought God here’s another old lady who doesn’t know what she is doing lol. I have watched episode 3, well I’ve lost count and if they keep having close ups of KitN I’m going to need smelling salts 😍

  47. Firannion,

Exactly my sentiments…… couldn’t have put it better

    Firannion:
Learning to live without instant gratification is part of becoming a grownup. And anticipation makes it sweeter when it finally does arrive. I am content to watch it on Sunday night.

couldn’t have said it better. my sentiments exactly

  48. mau:

Suit yourself… as long as you learn keep it to yourself or use grayscale!!! Only a few hours ago you were confronted by another user for posting uncovered information about a character’s appearances in the remaining Season 7 episodes. Seriously poor style, mau 🙁

  49. People are not taking this warning to heart:

no discussion of the leaked episode in the comments section, whether it is spoiler tagged or not

No teasing, no hints, no talking about how great it is or isn’t- we mean it.

  50. No interest in watching it before Sunday. Maybe at one point in my life I would have done so. But what is stopping me aside from enjoying it on my home entertainment system, is showing respect for the cast and crew of GOT. Watching it ahead of time in this format feels like a betrayal of them and cheapens it somehow.

I’ve waited over a year for this season; can wait 3 more days.

  51. Bummed that GoT is over in 4 weeks already, but at least Outlander starts a couple weeks afterwards.

Damn, I’m so excited to see how the rest of this season plays out. We’re only 3 episodes in, but I think I already like it more than season 6 after 3 episodes. It’s way too early to say for sure though.

  52. mau,

I still think season 4 is my favorite overall season up to now. It just had so many satisfying storylines.

I agree that those extra long episodes are going to be extra epic! Can’t freakin wait

  53. The Bastard,

Oh my God – It’s a TV show not the cure for cancer nor the solution to world peace.

Watch it if you want – don’t watch it if you don’t want to – life is too short.

  54. Man HBO, sort your shit out!

So that’s 2 days of staying offline and away from social media for those who don’t wanna be spoiled.

And I’ve heard that this is gonna happen each week before the episode airs.

Whats it gonna be like in S8? I may have to go on mass unsubscribe mode 😬😱

  55. I bet HBO’s password is 1 2 3 4 5 or something stupid like that.

Hopefully they can plug up the leaks for next season. I’m resigned to the fact that season 8 and the overall ending will no doubt be leaked at some point. I just hope the people who can’t contain themselves will only spoil it for themselves and not for others, but I won’t hold my breath.

  56. Mr Derp,

Sometimes I think S6 is better and sometimes I prefer S4. But the climax to S6 is just so good, better than S4.

I think S4 is stronger when it comes to episodes 6-8.

The first half of both seasons is great. S4 has the Lion and the Rose and S6 has The Door.

But Book of the Stranger and Home are also great episodes.

  57. VegoDread: Oh my God – It’s a TV show not the cure for cancer nor the solution to world peace.

Actually it makes you wonder if, given the choice, would hackers choose to hack an accessible server that contained the recipe for the cure for cancer or a server that stored a season of GoT?

As for world peace, we should just put a Targ in charge. According to Dany, there has been “peace for centuries” under Targ rule… 🙂

  58. GeekFurious:
The season 5 episodes were not stolen… they were leaked by someone with screeners. Happens all the time.

There are no GoT screeners anymore for this exact reason. Haven’t been for years.

  59. mau:

    mau,

My favorite chunk of season 1: episodes 6-10
My favorite chunk of season 2: episodes 5-10
My favorite chunk of season 3: episodes 4-6, and of course episode 9
My favorite chunk of season 4: pretty much all of it, but there are some lulls in the middle of the season
My favorite chunk of season 5: episodes 8-10
    My favorite chunk of season 6: episodes 2, 5, 9, and 10

  60. There is a Chrome plug-in for hiding Game Of Thrones spoilers online (including YouTube, Facebook, Twitter etc…). I’m half tempted to install it especially when the final season comes. I’m sure it won’t be perfect but anything is better than nothing. Now to see if there is a mobile version…

  61. QueenofThrones,

Then what’s the point of Netflix steaming whole episodes? If GOT streamed full seasons, trust me, you, me and every fire and ice fan would binge watch it in one night.

  62. Jack Bauer 24,

If that’s your only criteria for labeling this a subpar episode then that’s laughable. Especially considering the last two episodes of this season will be giant.

  63. Dee Stark,

I’m trying to come up with an answer, but I got nothing.

I think Jack’s just getting paranoid and freaking himself out as usual.

  64. Dee Stark,

Same here. I only post on this site when I’m at work. I’m a ghost on the weekends, but I do check in on Sunday night to see people’s reactions to the episode.

  65. I read books before I start to watch show, so I couldn’t be spoiled, when show surpass books I just didn’t search online anything related to show before episodes aired, and I stayed unspoiled. On the other hand, if episode leaks early I watch it and that doesn’t prevent me to watch it again using my HBO subscription and to watch it again when reprisal is aired. If I know something about episode before official airing, I don’t have any urges to share it online.

  66. Mr Derp:
    Dee Stark,

I’m trying to come up with an answer, but I got nothing.

I think Jack’s just getting paranoid and freaking himself out as usual.

Haha you guys crack me up!! 🙂 …With all this leak talk today, and somehow still not being able to clock out of WotW, paranoia is beginning to seem like the right word for me as well!! LOL

    – Enjoy your weekends yall and stay safe!

  67. At this point, HBO just needs to bite the bullet and post the rest of this season on HBO Now a la Netflix and other streaming services. That will kill all of the hackersleverage right there.

  68. HelloThere:
    mau,

I will try to avoid it, but I am sure some recommended video on YouTube one day will spoil it in the title.

Those are the worst. Currently in process of getting rid of at least one of those asshat channels from showing up. Unfortunately it’s hard to identify them without getting spoiled first 🙄
I wish someone had a list of such channels to block…

  69. HelloThere,

I just downloaded it and have been testing it out. It definitely blocks all the annoying recommendations on YouTube! I’m loving it so far. Unfortunately it also blocks posts from this site on Facebook but I always visit this site a few times a day anyway 🙂

  70. Carole H:
OT but Meryn Trant and Black fish on Thronecast on Monday night 10pm.

Should be good then. Hope its better than last weeks offering 😉

  71. Black Raven,

And apparently Kristian Nairn let slip a supposed spoiler (not saying because didn’t make sense and besides I didn’t hear it). Don’t know about you but I sometimes think I am watching a different GOT to the guests. Not so much the character actors but the guests.

  72. Hello everyone, this is my first time posting on this site, but I am not new to the site by any means, I guess you could call me a “long time lurker” , anyway just wanted to introduce myself, and let you all know that I really enjoy reading all the comments on here. I can’t wait for episode 4, I just can’t imagine what will happen next. My personal favorite seasons are season 2 and season 6, I feel like season 2 did a great job at really hashing out the whole lore of Westeros and Essos and introduced us to some important characters that are still playing a role today, season 6 for me was about the payoff for all the careful world building that has gone on in the past 7 years, my favorite individual episode is hardhome, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time, and It was so well directed and the action I thought looked better than most of the stuff that Hollywood was doing in my opinion.

  73. QueenofThrones,

    I have neither.
Personally, I don’t look at spoilers, but since the actual episode in full has been released, I don’t have a problem with people watching it.

  74. Mr Derp,

Since it’s so short I would recommend watching episode 3 and 4 together…lol, and than watch episode 4 again back to back.

  75. RBloodworth:

At this point, HBO just needs to bite the bullet and post the rest of this season on HBO Now a la Netflix and other streaming services. That will kill all of the hackersleverage right there.

You have to wonder if this was at all intentional. An “accidental” leak from an HBO subsidiary as we wait for the hackers to unveil their loot? It might be a masterful way for HBO to test the waters. I don’t know enough about their business model – what are the incentives to releasing episodes one at a time as opposed to all at once? Do they gain new subscribers with each successive episode?

  76. Manny K,

Hi Manny K! I’ve been a long-time-lurker myself and didn’t start posting until last year. Season 6 was my favorite for the same reason as yours, and Hardhome was also a personal favorite (hence my avatar 🙂 ). Can’t wait to watch episode 4 Sunday!

  77. Manny K,

Welcome to WOTW. You may take your vows at the nearest weirwood tree or sept depending on whether you worship the Old Gods or the New.

  78. I watched it, definitely wont comment on the show out of respect for this sites wishes. I will say I wish they just leaked the rest of the season. Im a little impatient and hate waiting, but o well. Makes it all more exciting waiting week to week cuz I would probably watch the rest of the season straight and have nothing else to do till next year. Further, I think this leak was intentional by HBO for some reason, not sure why but just my opinion.

  79. Part of the excitement watching week to week is the anticipation built up through the long work week, each day getting closer and closer to the next episode, going through the routine leading up to it. Do you guy’s have any routines when you go into watching the next episode? If you do, would you mind sharing?

My routine is actually pretty straight forward, I am a new father so the most important thing is to make sure my daughter is fed before hand, her bed time is usually around 8:30 eastern time here in the states, I always try to read to her as it helps her to sleep. I always DVR the show just in case she isn’t asleep by the time the episode starts, I make sure I have a few nice cold brews next to me in my favorite chair, with the lights off and the surround sound booming, before hand I like to smoke a little cigar of something recreational…lol, watching GOT blazed is so awesome…lol, when that’s all out of the way I just press play and let it run, I always listen to the theme music of the show ( I think the music is one of the best parts of the show.) always watch the recaps because it often contains important plot points. For the next hour or so my mind is in Westeros ( or Essos in seasons past) , when it’s over I normally watch the episode back to back just in case I missed anything. I don’t have this ritual for any other show, even though there is a lot of great shows that I love out there.

  80. The entire episode is a montage of Hot Pie working at the Inn. Baking pies, serving ale, singing Bear and the Maiden Fair to the guests, telling tales of Arry of house Winterhell. 50 minutes of Hot Pie and it was glorious!

  81. Got tons of messages last night around 3-4am saying holy shot best episode ever and I was like wtf is wrong with my friends watching the Queens justice this late in the week
    Now I know
I love this website I love the Admins I love how much effort they put into making sure people don’t get spoiled but there’s always 1 dickhead so I’m gonna avoid this space till Monday morning (I live in Australia so it airs Monday morning same time as the US )
Love all of you fellow watchers and can’t wait to discuss the episode after it airs live

  82. Baked Goods:

    ☚(゚ヮ゚☚)

And how about the part when the bear drank all the ale and pies and killed everyone in the inn except for Hot Pie because, well I don’t want to spoil it for anyone but it’s priceless! 😉

  83. Mr Derp:
    Manny K,

Welcome to WOTW.You may take your vows at the nearest weirwood tree or sept depending on whether you worship the Old Gods or the New.

You may also burn someone alive if you prefer the Red God or, alternatively, drown said person if you are lean towards the Drowned God.

If you are a worshipper of Black Goat of Qohor however, you are out of luck. Demon worship is not acceptable in these parts. We have certain standards to uphold after all.

  84. I downloaded it and watched the first minute just to see how bad the quality is.

It’s pretty bad and I wouldn’t recommend anyone to watch the show like this. Even if the low quality and the watermark isn’t enough to bother you, the huge on-screen timer should do the trick.

So do yourself a favor and wait two days.

  85. Mr Fixit,

Hahaha, thanks for the welcome, when it comes to religions in Westeros or Essos I would consider myself an Athiest …lol, I bet the lannisters worship money though…lol

  86. orange: GRRM was on the best seller list and #1 best seller with the first 3 books LONG before any show. It’s the very reason film companies and HBO were interested in adapting it in the first place. The show made him more rich no doubt, but it’s not like was struggling for money. D&D on the other hand are the ones who got rich and famous off the show and good for them.

GRRM was making decent money from his writing, but it was selling the rights for the show that made him rich.

  87. Is it just me or does it seem like sometimes Game of Thrones has better special affects than most Hollywood movies? The way the Dragons are depicted are so life like, my wife actually thought that they were real…lol

  88. I’ve said it before. The level of popularity and hype for this show reached unseen levels. It’s basically impossible to hide anything. So beware of spoilers and watch it when it airs. It’s really sad that the people who leaked the episode think that they did something cool.

  89. Manny K,

I am a new father so the most important thing is to make sure my daughter is fed before hand, her bed time is usually around 8:30 eastern time here in the states, I always try to read to her as it helps her to sleep.

What a good daddy you are! Is her mom appreciative? 🙂

The only prep I do is read the open chat until ‘game time’, My husband and I get a drink, sit back and watch. He lost interest for a few years but heard what was happening now so binge watched the seasons he missed so now he’s caught up. Its been fun to have him watching and talking about it with me.

Last year I would watch the previous episode just to remember before I watch the new. Not sure why Im not doing that now, don’t think I need to maybe

  90. ash,

Yes her mother is very appreciative, unfortunately she works overnight on Sunday evenings, so I have Daddy duty a few nights a week to myself. I normally read the open chat after I watch the episode so that I can see the reactions, some of the reactions on here have been priceless especially after the winds of winter episode…lol

  91. I just want to say that I am so happy to now be an active member of this community, you all seem to be a wonderful group of people.

  92. Lord of Coffee,

Lol…this is the result of book purists??? Surely, you jest! And no one was seriously arguing that a behemoth tv show stops for 6 years until the book series is finished.

Jesus, I’d like whatever pills you’re taking right now.

Also, your animosity towards the man who we have to thank for this beloved series, is just very strange.

  93. Manny K,

My Sunday GoT routine is probably similar to many other people’s. It consists of drinks, food, open chat here, and watching the previous episode with my babe. It’s a lot of fun. Luckily for us we don’t have any little ones mucking things up 😝 j/k.
    Congratulations and welcome to WoTW.

  94. ramses,

Thank you so much, usually I watch the previous episode throughout the week, when I get home from work I will probably watch episode 3 again tonight…lol

  95. And here we go again. First the extensive Reddit leaks and now back to S5-style episode leaks. At this point, GoT has got to be the leakiest vessel to ever sail the Narrow Sea.

Season 8 leaks are looking to be inevitable at this point, and anyone who thinks they’re going to avoid them–short of hopping off the Internet entirely for a year or so–is delusional. As soon as ending spoilers come out, people will be plastering them all over social media and doing anything and everything in their power to ruin the experience for everyone who doesn’t want to know. This is the Internet. That’s how the Internet works. Especially considering that the final season will inevitably be a bloodbath and certainly spell the end of the line for some major, fan-favorite characters. before all is said and done.

Considering the show’s sheer popularity, no self-respecting troll is going to miss their chance to mess with the fanbase by revealing that “CLEGANEBOWL IS REAL” or “JON SNOW SACRIFICES HIMSELF” or whatever else all over the farthest reaches of the Interwebs. It is known.

  96. Manny K,

I totally understand your situation. We have two kids, one is 4 and the other turned one today. It’s impossible for me to ever catch the show at its live time so I always have to watch it on HBOGO about an hour or two later when all the kids fall asleep. I have to avoid the internet until then too just to play it safe. Daycare is too expensive so I work days and my husband works nights. Luckily we’ve been having the last few Sundays off together but if he works those nights I always watch it again with him on his next day off. So my routine is once the kids sleep I quietly watch it in the living room with headphones. The plus side is “Inside The Episode” always airs afterwards on HBOGO so you get a firsthand look at Dan & David explaining certain scenes.

  97. Gfx,
You are right, Day care is really expensive, I’ve been lucky so far that I haven’t had to shell out for it yet. I hope you and your husband will get more Sundays off together to be able to enjoy that time together. It’s funny how shows like this bring people together.

  98. Manny K:
Part of the excitement watching week to week is the anticipation built up through the long work week, each day getting closer and closer to the next episode, going through the routine leading up to it.Do you guy’s have any routines when you go into watching the next episode? If you do, would you mind sharing?

My routine is actually pretty straight forward, I am a new father

Manny, Congratulations on being a new dad.

I too feel great anticipation over each new episode of GoT. The phone is turned off the DVR turned on and anyone I know avoids my door during that hour. My only regret is I didn’t find this site sooner.

  99. Cersei’s Brain:
    Flayed Potatoes,

Well yeah, but you really can avoid spoilers if you try- even a little bit.Not that difficult. I did it this season with no problem

True! I’ve avoided spoilers the past several months (mainly by not being active on social media and not ever reading YT comments) and I don’t intend to become sullied now that we’re in the middle of the season. WotW is the only site I visit and I appreciate the moderators’ efforts to control the spoilers. There were some commenters here who still let spoilery comments slip but I hope they take heed of this site’s warnings.

I’m loving the experience of not knowing what’s going to happen, just like how I experienced season 1 (before I read the books). Now that the show’s beyond the books, I’d rather be surprised and enthralled as the scenes unfold on TV than know about it through spoilers.

  100. Catspaw Assassin: ☚(゚ヮ゚☚)

And how about the part when the bear drank all the ale and pies and killed everyone in the inn except for Hot Pie because, well I don’t want to spoil it for anyone but it’s priceless!

Hot Pie is THE survivor. It is known. 🙂

  101. Welcome, Manny, to the best show in town. Meaning Watchers on the Wall, of course. Congrats on your daughter.

My favourite season is 4. It was the most evenly good season. It had highlights to be sure–some glorious events (Purple Wedding, Tyrion’s trial, Oberyn v Mountain, Tywin’s death), a great battle, an ongoing comedy team that killed it every episode, poignant moments, fabulous cinematography, etc. Not one episode was a dud. My second favourite is Season 1, because it was coherent, narratively tight, set up the saga perfectly, and had Ned–the most honourable, stable man in the 7 kingdoms. I expect this season to be in my top three after all is said and done.

  102. As soon as I saw this article published I decided to avoid Watchers all weekend, I then had friends who had watched it messaging me so even that wasn’t good enough to avoid spoilers. I knew the battle was coming from reading filming spoilers on here and from reading the leaked outline last year but glad I watched it in HD so much better!

As for S8 I am dreading it I am going to try my hardest to avoid any major spoilers, I’m comfortable with filming locations and casting type spoilers but I want to avoid major plot developments. I suspect it’s going to be very hard to achieve that though.

  103. Dolorous JENN:
I LOVE spoilers and knowing about what’s going to happen ahead of time. For me it’s more enjoyable to watch something with anticipation of what’s to come.Whenever I watch something new that excites me I always watch it again so I can savor what I just saw.

But I would NEVER spoil anything for anyone else because I know that it’s upsetting for people who want to be surprised.

There are all kinds of people in the world and no need to diss anyone else’s tastes.

I agree, I “have” to know what is happening next (even when reading the books, I needed to continue reading “just one more chapter”) although I read the spoilers and get an inside view of what will happen i enjoy “watching it play out” and never spoil the moment for my dear hubby who refuses to believe that “leaked” information is real.

  104. Stark Raven’ Rad,

    Ouch, arsehole! 😂😂😂

I didn’t knew that Murdochs “lo-lo-love” at least one curry, if not all sorts of curries. And that’s how they ATTRACT favours from innumerable Presidents and Prime Ministers.

Now to get serious: You do know that how the media-landscape in the 21st century (nothing specifically to do with that media oligarchy) works? As it turns out, the official PR by that Indian media-conglomerate specifically mentioning a “technology vendor” by just falling short of ‘name-naming’ them which means it’s either subtitlers, or re-packagers.

Turns out, it’s the very same multinational vendor on whose services not just the Asian unit of HBO®, but even the US HBO® itself — have relied upon! Then, no wonder that HBO® Asia has decided to keep going ahead with its tentpole documentary miniseries under co-commissioning arrangement with the very same Murdochs-owned entity which is being blamed for this leak — as a trivia, the said docuseries is currently under production.
Shedding retroactivity: As it turns out, a poor sod (perhaps not as much poor as you given he had a cool job) decided to leave an impression upon his inamorata which lead to this leak. He shared the open FTP link of the work copy [sent to his employer for localisation] with her and under peer pressure or for bragging rights or some other reasons, she checked that gender-specific stereotype by forwarding that URL hosting a DRM-free asset! Local law-enforcement sniffed him out, he got terminated from his job as well as arrested, and 3 others joined-in the police custody.
