Nikoaj Coster-Waldau appeared on Good Morning America to promote season 6 of Game of Thrones, and unveiled a new clip while he was there.

The actor discusses the filming of season 6, including the complicated and confusing use of code names during production and more aspects of his role. He shared with the audience a new clip of the scene teased in trailers of Jaime’s confrontation with the High Sparrow (Jonathan Pryce) in the sept.

  4. Ugh, do they ask about Jon every interview?! That scene is very interesting, Jamie doesn’t look like he’s taking this guy’s shit. We’ve seen Cersei interact with Tommen but I wonder what advice Jamie will have for Tommen. The Lannister’s story will def. be interesting this season 🙂

  10. I prefer Jamie above Tyrion to be alive at the end of Game of Thrones. But I’m afraid Tyrion will be the one to make it to the end. I don’t think two Lannisters will be alive, only one who make peace with the Starks, Targaryen and the rest of Westeros. But we will see. Go Jamie

  13. This is the same scene where Jaime gets surrounded by sparrows in the last trailer. They start sneaking out of the shadows. So he won’t kill HS. But I don’t think they take him prisoner either. I wonder if this is episode 3 because of the oath breaking reference.

    That’s it. I (or one of us) needs to become a tv journalist. Because someone needs to ask better questions and not forget important character names. And how do you forget Jaimes line pushing Bran out of a window? Superfan?

  22. The North has gotten drawn most of my attention and anticipation for good reason during this offseason, but I’m really looking forward to Jaime’s story this year. The Kingslayer looks to be in fine form. He’s taking no shit from the Sparrows, or their leader.

    I think we do see fear. He keeps it contained, but Jaime’s just spouting of his sins to him like it’s no big deal, then reaching for his sword. The thugs with clubs are probably a little too far away for the High Sparrow’s liking.

    GMA doesn’t specify what episode the clip’s from, but it’s likely from Episode 2.

    I believe someone pulled code from the promotional picture of Jaime and Tommen standing vigil over Myrcella’s corpse, and it was from Episode 2. So it looks like Jaime brings Myrcella home to Cersei in Episode 1, and then she’s actually laid to rest in Episode 2. The High Sparrow probably enters the Sept shortly thereafter, and the confrontation ensues.

  23. Did any inerviewer never occured to ask if resurrection is possible? Not like dead body in a pool of blood is any sign, right. Thankfully only 2 days and we’ll get over this saga.

    Great thing that they mentioned “he killed his King” as Aerys. So maybe Oathbreaker episode will truly show more of Jaime and Aerys. Just thinking out loud.

    But which one. He clearly loves Cersei but he has strong feelings towards Brienne too. And might even be Valonqar even tho they omitted it for some reason. With the news that Brienne and Jaime will meet in Riverlands, and everything leading to LSH reveal. I would bet on Brienne dying, so that would leave us with Cersei.

    It’s not criticism, just merely an observation.

    We have two good options for Valonqar. Tyrion who is literally like prime candidate considering everything that happened between them. Then we have Jaime. Even if they showed this in Maggy’s prophecy and then Jaime was the one to kill her, that would’ve been shocking and surprising.

    So they could’ve showed it, but I think at some point they’ll bring this up. When it becomes more relevant as main thing in Maggy’s vision was fate of her children and younger and more beautiful Queen (another question who that really is). Her paranoia with Margaery and their feud.

    This also does not reflect well on HBO. Despite their apparent best efforts there is another leak. It has happened too many times to solely blame bad luck. I’m sorry, but they have to try even better in future.

    Well…it’s a lot better then last year…. by this time we already had 4 FULL episodes leaked….

    They could improve more…..but I don’t think they will ever find a foolproof plan.

    Interviewer: The producers have code names?

    NCW: Yes, and this season was just crazy. I mean, you would get scripts where the code names were just there, but I didn’t know the code names. So suddenly there was like a whole new character. I was like, who is this person I’m having a dialog with.
    …
    NCW: I was still Jaime. Jaime is just Jaime. But they were all characters that were like big secrets that they would appear. But also they did that thing with the call sheet you get out every day, where it says where people are supposed to be. They used code names and numbers there, but they forgot to tell everybody about it. So it became very complicated.

  85. Interesting what Nikolaj said about the code names and numbers. So it seems he’ll have dialogue with someone new – or old/new… Also, lol at the producers forgetting to tell the codenames/numbers and the cast & crew getting confused!

    It seems I might have to go into internet blackout for a few days because of the leaks. 🙁 In my country, each episode will screen 24 hours after the US screening, so that’d be 4am Tuesday morning for ep 1!

    Yes, I imagine that both Blackfish and Edmure would have code names. He made it sound like there were a lot of code names, so I am thinking that anyone returning (other than Bran who was pretty well publicized) or anyone new would get a faux name.

    Umm, well, in seasons past, the big actors (and possibly most actors) got full scripts and some read the full scripts while others read only their parts. I would think, even with code names, you’d be able to figure out that the person being resurrected might be Jon Snow. Plus there’s like gossip and they run into other people on set, especially in Belfast. I think it is possible that there might be some top actors on the show who genuinely don’t know, but I imagine the number would be tiny, if so.

    bran, blood raven, Jon, Thoros, black fish and Edmure would be my guess for characters given code names.

  120. O.T. David Benioff interview, some of it we already know. Towards the end, (around 12:40 mark) he confirms that the show will have two more seasons. So no 13 episode Season 7

  122. Guesses for episode 1 screentimes:
    Castle Black: the most of this episode. I’d say 10 minutes.
    Daenerys: 5 minutes or so, enough time for her to meet the new Khal.
    Tyrion: Also 5 minutes, introduction to his reign of Mereen.
    Cersei/Jaime: 7 ish minutes. They can deal with Trystane, Cersei’s grief, etc.
    Arya: Short 5 minute fight scene.
    Sansa/Theon: Probably second longest. Maybe 10 minutes as well.
    And the rest of the time spent in Dorne 🙂

My online streaming service with HBO Canada doesn’t work outside of Canada. And were not really big torrenters. I told her that most nice hotels have HBO as part of their cable in room. So she called the hotel and asked and the front desk told her they have HBO. The front desk clerk was laughing so hard when she asked hahaa.

    For people in the US, it would be at 9pm as well?
    Here in Canada we have two HBO channels, and only one of them shows GOT. Is it the same in the US?

    There is a free trial of HBO Now in the US. https://order.hbonow.com/ I would tell her to try that, since she’ll be in the US. She can watch with her computer or tablet. Well, maybe we are the only family that travels with at least two computers plus phones, iPods, and iPads. But most hotels to have internet.

  158. I don’t get why the fans favor the Lannisters over the High Sparrow. Cersei deserved everything that happened to her last season and still got off easy IMHO. You can argue with the Faith’s treatment of Loras and Margaery, but the Tyrells knowingly prop up a king and a family that they know is illegitimate, just because they want a share of the ill-gotten power. They all need to pay and I’m glad the HS is doing it.

    and I tend to believe at this point it it is Jamie but you could make a case that if it is not Cersei’s little brother (or sister) it could be Arya … she is on the kill list … or Sandor Clegane if there is a Clegane bowl and if he defeats Robert Strong (aka Gregor Clegane, his older brother), which would result in her death

    or some combination thereof

    You may hate me more when I admit to being only a fair-weather fan. In the ’90s, I could have practically commentated a game I knew so much about all of the teams and players, and I did win the football pool more than anyone else. But today, I don’t know much of anything. My brother is the true fan, who I went to both the Titans game with and a Redskins game in Dallas. My husband is a Steelers fan (eek!), but he is very laid back about everything.

    Rewatching the full video (thanks to the poster above!), I noticed something that caught my attention the first time but I forget to comment. Is it not shocking that Jaime is telling the High Sparrow about his conspiracy to free his brother? If Cersei got wind of that, would she not chop off his head? He sure seemed to be confessing a great deal, so I guess he already has plans to end the High Sparrow at this point.
