Kit Harington arrives in Belfast for season 7 filming

It’s been an exciting couple weeks, with the start of season 7 filming, and now we can add leading man Kit Harington to the list of Game of Thrones stars who have made their way to Belfast, Northern Ireland, the center of the show’s production. The actor was spotted a few times yesterday during his journey and arrival at the George Best Belfast City airport:

Harington was filming his new movie “The Death and Life of John F. Donovan” in New York City until just a few days ago so it’s right from one job to another for him, Donovan to Snow, without even a rest. Good to have him back on the scene, and with no #Hairwatch shenanigans this year!

Edit: He may have already been in the city, and been heading out of town, based on this Belfast Live report, in which case, wow he really did cut it close after he finished filming in NYC!

In other Kit-related news, the Television Academy has announced presenters for the upcoming Emmy Awards ceremony, and it includes our favorite snowy bastard. We expected Harington would be there on September 18th since he is nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, but now he’ll be pulling double-duty as a nominee and an awards presenter. So that’s a nice bonus to look forward to- either way, he’ll be on the stage at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles come Emmy night!

    Been away for a few days so I may have missed it if it was posted/ commented on here…..

    I’m not sure Bild is exactly what I would call completely trustworthy…. I was hoping you may have a better source. 🙂

  8. Yeah I read something similar on another site. Another person on that site said they saw him in the airport and he got right on to a flight bound for London shortly after. While an amazing coincidence that Belfast of all places was a stop over before going on London…it does seem like a coincidence and I don’t think he is there for filming yet. He does not appear to have stayed in Belfast beyond the wait for the stop over flight to London.

    I follow TDALOJD on Twitter and supposedly Kit is still filming for another month in Prague and then in London for few days in October! When in London, suppose he could film some for GoT then?! Hopefully will wrap his movie sooner than expected!!

  13. Yes, it must be worlds different this year than last – he doesn’t have to skulk around. I can remember this time last year when we were still quivering from “for the Watch,” devouring theories on how he HAD to be brought back to life, otherwise the story would make no sense, micro-measuring his hair length. This is better. Always nice to see him, no matter what venue, and yes, I will be taping and watching the Emmy broadcast, and probably the hours before it, when the fashionistas hit the Red Carpet for interviews. Love the gowns and the tuxes, love the hype.

  14. Oh Sweet!! Nice to know that Kit will be presenting at the Emmys too,I was kinda afraid he might miss the award show coz of some scheduling issues, like Emilia did last year. I really hope the entire GOT cast shows up this year,coz we know they won’t be nominated next year.
    And according to Emmys prediction charts on many websites,Kit is favorable to win too,so I guess he might show up on stage more than once 🙂

    Well I guess I am looking forward to the Emmys now.

    He was spotted in an airport on 3rd or 4th September, presumably returning from New York to London. How could he have been on a stop-over flight, in Belfast, going to London, on 6th? He might have been in Belfast for a day?

  16. Yes, the Kit in the North!! Although, apparently, only briefly. I’m glad for him (and us) he won’t have to hide this year. Must be such a relief.

    I’m so confused about whether he’s done with filming his movie or if they’re just moving production to another country. But it’s sounding more and more like he’s filming the movie and won’t start shooting GOT until later. Which I guess makes sense since Liam is still in the middle east and Sophie is elsewhere in Europe. And apparently Aidan’s going on road trip, lol. There’s also been no sightings of Kristofer Hivju, who with that red hair and beard, would be hard to miss.

  18. It’s all likely fittings and read-throughs. Sets are still being constructed/maintained so they’re probably not starting to film just yet. But very shortly.

It seems like when we think the cast is finally gathering up in Belfast to start shooting, they’re spotted somewhere else lol If i’m not mistaken they were casting calls for this week and next week as well. Is it just extras filming then? i’m confused. But if Kit had to go to Belfast, it must be something to do with fitting, which is great because Jon could DEFINITELY use some new and more kingly outfit. Oh well, I guess filming won’t really kick off before summer is over.

  23. Imagine not being able to walk through an airport without strangers stopping you every ten feet wanting to get a selfie or an autograph or try to start up a conversation. Got to admire these actors just for maintaining good humor about it most of the time. If they blow somebody off just because they’re having the occasional bad day to which we are all entitled, the PR fallout could do serious harm to their careers. Fame certainly exacts a high price.

  25. Engaging Kit to be an Emmy presenter seems like a brilliant stroke. His popularity is riding very high right now, and even if he doesn’t win an award, I’ll bet the audience will go wild just to see him onstage.

    Whatever co-presenter they pair him with, I hope she’s merciful and doesn’t wear her highest pair of stilettos!

    I think “Thor” who plays the mountain is in Belfast filming. I follow him on snap chat and he posted a snap like he was in a trailer and someone came and asked him if he wanted to “start getting into your ___ ”

  30. Raging, I missed him by about 6hours!!!
    In other news the Moneyglass (winterfell?) location us getting busier and there us now a large marquis/tent, they must be getting ready to welcome the crew.
    We drive past it everyday and haven’t spotted the GOT pink signs just yet, but I reckon ut won’t ne long…
    Will keep you crowd posted.

    Yeah, based on the dates of the airport sightings, it looks like he spent a couple of days in Belfast unnoticed and is now flying to London, presumably to dump his Montreal/NYC gear since evidently he flew straight from one set to the other. That’s pretty hardcore. But hey, at least now he doesn’t have to deal with the added stress of keeping his involvement with the show a secret anymore.

    Oh, and that airport pic actually tells us that he’s either already started filming or is going to imminently. People spend so much time fixating on the length of his hair and beard that they often overlook the biggest giveaway: He’s just re-tinted his hair black. His lighter roots were clearly visible in all of the John F. Donovan set pics, but he’s gone totally dark in the airport photo above. That’s not something you do weeks ahead of filming, especially if it’s inconsistent with the look you’re sporting for a different project.

  33. Yeah it makes sense that he was there just for a bit because somebody spotted him in a London pub with Rose last night.But still is so exiting that the filming is starting.I can’t wait for the Emmys even though I’m knocking on so much wood

    He could have some scenes by himself or with some extras (leading soldiers, dealing with smallfolk). Maybe he’ll film with Bran! 😀 Is Lady Mormont returning? I’d like to have them in a scene or two.

    Yes, I think Lena Headey is back in Belfast. As is Indira Verma.
    So it looks like the Dorne crew has scenes other than with team Dany.

    You could be right. He might have flown straight to Belfast from NYC.
    Other than his hair, it also looks like he is growing his beard to Jon Snow levels. He only had a light stubble for his film.

    Oooh, excellent point! His hair does look uniformly black in the airport pics, unlike the August photoshoot where it looks brown at the roots. Up until a few months ago I didn’t even know he tinted his hair darker for GOT, until I read an interview with the show hairdresser where he said he tints Kit’s hair and applies putty (?) to give it that wet look.

  42. I think Kit had the table read in Belfast, because he was filming when they had it.

    Now he has some days off, goes to the Emmy’s winning that thing and start shooting GoT.

    I remember back in the spring, during his play, he randomly went clean-shaven out of nowhere and a few people lost their shit (because apparently they think it takes him months to grow a Jon-length beard, or something). Anyway, he was asked about it in some interview, and he said it was a “shave test” so that he could see how long it took him to grow it back. He needed to know this for an upcoming project (aka John F. Donovan). If you ever wonder if GoT viewers spend too much time analyzing how camera-ready his appearance is, just remember that he literally sent Xavier Dolan and D&D his beard growth timetable so that they could schedule his filming dates accordingly.

    I agree also, he will look even more handsome. That scene at the end of the season, the “father always promised us” winter is coming scene, where he was washed and combed and had on the fur – he looked wonderful there, more mature somehow. Seeing him in more royal-ish garb would be a thrill. Seeing him win his Emmy on 9/18 will be even better.

    I know where the Winterfell seamstresses and Sansa are going to get all the beautiful fabrics, threads, trims and ornaments for his new wardrobe, too. From the Westeros Supply Co., a derivative of Baelish Enterprises, supplying all of Westeros with all its needs. Same place Euron and the Iron Islanders ordered the metal trimmings, ropes, nails and sailcloth for the 1000 ships they’re building for Euron.

    He looked great!! And happy! He’s probably smiled the most this season.

    Now I’m picturing Sansa as Cinderella (but more fabulous and not tortured by her family) and she’s making Jon a new set of clothes with the help of all the wolves and animals in the north :P. The supply line should be better now. She probably had to use Jon’s Ebay account in season 6 to order fabrics and it could only get them so much 😛

    Wouldn’t it be a great scene to have Sansa and Arya out for a stroll together in the Godswood, catching up not too long after being reunited, and suddenly have Sandor show up? Imagine his discomfiture! Which irate sister will he deal with first? I could see them on either side of him, both simultaneously yammering away with accusations, like Harry Mudd in Star Trek being nagged by his wife’s clones. And poor Brienne, shadowing Sansa as her guard, trying to back off and remain inconspicuous but not doing a good job of it. I’d give a lot to see a setup like that!

    This takes my total to 2 for GoT actors I’ve encountered in Dublin to whom I casually referred to by there characters names and said “Alright?”. At least, Littlefinger said “Alright” back, Joffrey just put on a disgusted face.
