  1. that’s why I like this podcast! You don’t miss no detail. I wondered about why they did not ask help from Reeds (I even wrote it on your previous post), so I was hoping maybe you would catch this and talk about it and of course you did! nice!

Not that geography seems to be any limitation on the show, but it’s not really plausible that Sansa and Jon could just ride down past Winterfell to the opposide end of the north. The fact that they are at Stannis’s encampment, which was near Winterfell in both media, is already bad enough.

  3. Maybe not the right place to say this…but I work for a not for profit in NYC and this evening, we hosted some 20 high profile donors who will probably write the organisation checks for approximately 30k for their table….what did this beget them… We spent about an hour of the 3-hour dinner discussing game of thrones!!!! Hedge fund guys, bankers, academics, muralists, blue hair nyc hoity toity biddies… Honest to god discussing tits and dragons!!! Brilliant! Just goes to show the wide appeal of this show….after six years, still astonishing. Had to put that out there!

  4. Chad Brick,

I agree, even considering that they speed up things on GOT, travelling to Neck would be too much (but well Greyjoys are in Volantis) and travelling that much south would be dangerous as well. I wanted to know more if they considered Reeds at all and if not why? Just because of geography? they could send someone while they were travelling to Bear Islands or send raven? (or it’s impossible because the castle moves?) they need all help they can get, so why don’t try? I guess I just want them to finally appear.

  5. Chad Brick,

Jon said to House Glover that he’d sent Ravens to other houses asking for their aid. So while ATM it looks a bit grim for Jon’s small army, maybe it’ll serve to give us a greater surprise if many of the northern houses actually respond positively to the Ravens including the Reeds, arriving in time for the battle against Ramsay? I think the north does remember! If Howland Reed has info about Jon’s parentage; stands to reason he’d have even more than the usual Start allegiance of his house and the arrival of a Reed fighting contingent would pave the way for Howland making jon’s Parentage known? I can see how Bran having the vision of ToJ north of the wall might work cutting back and forth as Howland tells Jon the same story at Winterfell?

  6. Just the idea of Jaime joining Sansa (and the others) to honour his oath to Catelyn is giving me goosebumps. It would just be a game changer, but it would make so much sense! I hope something along those lines happens, they’d be mad not to do it. It’d be so epic.
As I see it, there are three main ‘sides’: King’s Landing/Iron Throne is one; The North is another one; Meereen/Dany is the third. It’d be very cool to have one Lannister sibling on each side, considering how far they’ve made it since the pilot (and that they’re all still alive).

  7. Mazzie,

Seriously, fingers crossed… Goosebumps all around. Haters would be floored.

Though I do think Jaime has unfinished bizniz in KL too. So maybe not getting my hopes up too much.

  8. Although I truly enjoy the people doing the podcast, there is no way they can have serious relationships. The nerdery is simply too big to be healthy, ha ha.

Yes! I am with you. I am reminded of that “Battle of Six Armies” comment, while I at first thought it was about the scale of the battle, now I’m thinking it actually will be six armies! Can you imagine? It will start with Stark, Wildlings and Bolton, but half way through come Tully, Lannister and Arryn!

And with Cersei’s talk with Littlefinger last season, I think she will let Jaimie go to the North to fight the Boltons. Though probably not with the idea to help Sansa. But Jaimie might.

    Yes, goosebumps!

  10. I would love to see Jaime honor his promise to Cat, but don’t see it happening. I am concerned about the preview with it showing just the Blackfish somewhere under Riverrun with Brienne, and Pod standing in a small boat. If it’s only the Blackfish joining her and him leaving the rest of his men to hold off Jaime it would not be the army Sansa & Jon need. We all know now she wrote to LF for help so maybe it’s just LF and the Vale that save the day and show up when things are the bleakest. I am sooooo looking forward to Sunday night.

  11. Elizabeth,

True, I know it’s probably all wishful thinking. But it is a possibility.

And regarding the preview and what Jaimie says in it, maybe he will finally learn about Lancel? From perhaps Bronn or Pod?

I am also sooooo looking forward to it!

I hate that Jaime seems to have slid back into his “big sister’s” hold. (I am pretty sure she was born before Jaime). I’m just not sure how much it would bother him to know that Lancel and his twin were once an “item.” He has always been under her thumb and I believe once he realizes how huge a mistake it has been he will become the Valonquar that Maggie the Frog warned Cersei about. Basically, he’ll lose it and be the death of her, literally….or at least a girl can wish that to happen:)

  13. Elizabeth: Basically, he’ll lose it and be the death of her, literally….or at least a girl can wish that to happen:)

    That would be quite something!

Damn, so many possibilities! Last three episodes are going to be crazy!

  14. GOO – Jon, Sansa and Davos visited the Gift (just south of the Wall), Bear Island (off the western coast of Westeros, just south of the Wall) and Deepwood Motte (directly south of Bear Island, barely in-land) before heading to back to where Stannis encamped. It really wasn’t that crazy of a travel schedule and what was shown in the episode didn’t cross Bolton territory, so it does make sense (especially when you look at the map and see the locations of BI and DM).

  15. Jaime says that shiz about Cersei to Edmure, not Brienne. It’s totally misdirection! He’s bluffing.

Still I don’t think he’ll ride north with the Lannister army. But he might ride north on his own later…

  16. Mazzie,

No way in hell is that happening.

Best case scenario is that Jaime allows the Riverrun army to head North on the condition of giving the castle back to the Freys. And even that’s seeming less and less likely.

Either way, I see Jaime in Casterly Rock in season 7, unless LSH wasn’t cut from the books (don’t look it up) which kinda changes everything. Still very doubtful about that, but it’s more likely now than it ever was.

Here, here. I read an interview with D.B. Weiss and he said there is no you can’t really convey the amount of time passage in different parts of the GOT world. What happened at one place was over a period of two weeks (I think it was Jon and Sansa travel in the North), but then they went to another shot (I think Arya) and it had only been 3 days since we’d last seen her.

I have hated the whole “time travel” and “jet pack” issue people have taken with the show. If you can’t understand that “time” has passed without finding issue with what you are watching it’s kind of weird. Even series tv shows do the same thing….I don’t get it.

Oh well, just me. I have no problem with the amount of ground covered because we don’t know HOW MUCH TIME HAS PASSED! But I certainly don’t take it that Sunday June 6 they were at the wall and no way, but Sunday June 13 they could be at House Mormont…lol.

Anyway, have a great weekend everyone and here’s to Sunday night!

  18. Pretty sure that’s Brienne handing the Blackfish a note in the one scene from the preview. You don’t see her face, but you do see the armor and it appears to be the same armor Brienne is wearing. I don’t really consider this to be a spoiler, that’s why I didn’t hide the text. It’s pretty clear in the preview, it’s talked about in the podcast. Also, if Brienne doesn’t get an audience with the Blackfish then her being there doesn’t really make sense. She obviously isn’t siding with Jaime based on the preview, so going to sit while the siege takes place? Personally I hope she talks some sense into Jaime. He needs to open his eyes.

  19. Elizabeth,

It may just be the Blackfish, but he would still be valuable even without an army. He is an accomplished General for team Jonsa.

  20. Queenofthrones,

No, I know. But still, they’re really hyping their reunion up – there’s a lot Brienne and Jaime and BrienneandJaime in the trailer, there’s a Vanity Fair piece on them being ‘back together’, they certainly are the only remaining ‘ship’ on this show and people adored them together in season 3 etc. – and I’m just not seeing the point in having a reunion if it doesn’t result in new arrangements and loyalties and developments. Of course there’s a chance it’ll all just go to hell – as the trailer for next week would like us to believe – but for now, I’m just imagining how great things COULD BE. Especially as the writers have really let me (and I suppose a lot of viewers) down when it comes to Jaime ever since season 4 started. I don’t know what happened. This would be a lovely change.

  21. Mazzie,

I’d much rather see Tormund and Brienne. I miss the Tyrion and Jaime dynamic more than his interaction with Brienne.

Brienne isn’t interested in Tormund so… I don’t really care about seeing them together. 😉
Idk, I just think that Brienne and Jaime in Storm of Swords/Season 3 were on another level in terms of character development and mutual trust. I just really love their relationship because they bring out the best in each other, they’re good for each other, and they saved each other.

  23. Elizabeth,

I agree. GRRM addresses the same issue in the forewords of ASOS. The chapters / scenes are presented in the order that they happen to the characters in the chapters, not necessarily in chronological order.

Take the scene with Littlefinger in the Vale, for example. That scene could have taken place at any time since he left King’s Landing last season, but they placed it where they did so that the scene in Mole’s Town would have greater impact and be fresher in viewer’s memories.

  24. I’m so glad you guys have your positive attitude back, it’s my favourite thing about this podcast, and I’m glad you’re all still positive despite reading the books 🙂

He had a chance to make good on that promise before the Purple Wedding, when Brienne asked him about letting her take Sansa. He didn’t give a damn about the oath then. Yeah, Cat and company are dead but Kings Landing wasn’t a safe place for her. Brienne could’ve taken her to the wall or Tarth, anywhere but letting her languish in Kings Landing. At that point, Jaime didn’t give a hoot about honor. He didn’t care that the Starks were slaughtered at the Red Wedding. He was home, back with Cersei and it wasn’t until after Joffreys death and Sansas disappearance that he told Brienne to go. I think that was just as much for Brienne’s safety, as it was for any oath or promise he made to Catelyn.
Of course, had any of this happen we wouldn’t have had half the story we do now. I just feel like some people need Jaime to have a hero arc. That the past 2 seasons of being an lap dog to Cersei was just a build-up to this great reveal that Jaime is some honorable Knight, who in the end does the right thing. Sansa trusting Jaime or any Lannister won’t happen. She might not think ill of Jaime really but that will change when (if) the cause of Bran’s accident is revealed.
