Game of Thrones Season 6 is coming to Blu-ray and DVD November 14th, and to celebrate the home release, HBO is offering a unique opportunity for fans.
From November 10th through the 13th, Game of Thrones will host its own art gallery in London’s Shoreditch. Free of charge, visitors will be able to view a diverse range of artwork inspired by Game of Thrones and its connection to pop culture.
The art will even include work created by fans! An HBO UK-run contest chose, with the help of Isaac Hempstead Wright, art created by ten fan artists to be displayed alongside the other items.
According to HBO, “the exhibition will also feature never-before-seen sketches from the show’s creators, including original storyboards from the series storyboarder William Simpson and costume sketches and jewellery by Michele Clapton, including MEY for Clapton’s line of jewelry and accessories seen on and inspired by Daenerys Targaryen, created in conjunction with renowned UK jewellery brand Yunus & Eliza.” The innovative Game of Thrones artwork will include installations and creations made from a large variety of materials, hinting that the art gallery will be as inventive and unpredictable as Thrones itself.
If you’re in the London area this November, the art gallery is a must-do!
You can stop by the event at 135 Bethnal Green Road, London, during these times:
Thursday, November 10th – Friday 11th Opening Times: Noon – 9pm
Saturday, November 12th – Sunday 13th Opening Times: 10am – 6pm
If you’re lucky enough to be able to attend, report back and tell us what you thought of the gallery! It’ll help us all get pumped up just in time for the arrival of Season 6 on Blu-ray and DVD on November 14th.
Can’t wait to watch the “Complete History and Lore” videos included in Season 6 Blu-Ray. 🙂
I would love to see the story board and costume design concept art in person. That gallery sounds amazing. Hope someone posts pictures of the exhibit!
That’s quite near me. It’s not the sort of thing I would normally go to but I don’t mind swinging by to let people know what it’s like if anyone’s interested? Any idea if we’d be allowed to take photos? That would obviously be sooooo much easier than trying to describe the place and I could stick ’em on imgur, or might I be breaking copyright or something similar? Anyone know how these things work? So many questions……. ?
edit: Aryamad, if all goes well you might get my terrible attempts 😉
When I grow rich, but I’m too far from Shoreditch 🙁
Ser Not Appearing in this Series,
Stepney would like to know when that will happen? But Bow isn’t much help in that department. And St Clements are just talking gibberish as far as I can tell, although I suppose it might be an obscure cockney rhyming slang term? 😀
(note for the confused, SNAITS and my posts are a play on the words of an old English nursery rhyme/game)
Dammit I’m not around those dates- may try and move something around to make it along on the vening of the 10th.
Lulus Mum,
If you can make it and take some pics, you’ll do us (who live on the other side of the world) a huge favour!!! No pressures though. 😛
I’m on the wrong side of the Narrow Sea! Sounds amazing though. Does anyone know if the exhibit is going to come around again? I can’t believe that the series is almost over!! Feels like yesterday I watched HBO’s 15 minute preview of season one episode one thinking that there was no way a 50 minute show could capture the scope of GRRMs world. Glad I was wrong!
I will definitely be going to that!
I really wish they would have done this for the US as well.
What!? I still havent seen which sigils Best Buy is going to do for the Blu Ray. Would be a huge upset if they stopped doing it now. Was hoping for a Tyrell option…….
Wait, the DVD is coming out Nov 14th… NOT RIGHT BEFORE THE NEXT SEASON LIKE THE REST
Hype! I can’t wait to hear all the commentary
A Dornish Tyrell,
I’ll give it my best shot. Sounds like a few fellow Watchers might make it too so hopefully between us we can get some decent pictures/stories/stuff for other people to enjoy 😀
Lulus Mum,
The more the merrier! 😀
Although just to be clear, I was just joking when I ask you for photos of the event. I wouldn’t like you to think I was imposing or something like that… 🙂
Lulus Mum,
You owe me five farthings,
Say the bells of G. R.R . Martin.
😉
A Dornish Tyrell,
No worries, this is like my online home so it’s my chance to do something for my international housemates 😀
Ser Not Appearing in this Series,
ha ha! 😀
When will you slay me
Said the bells of Old Bailey
Will there be any special DVD covers this year, such as the house sigils they have done in the past?
