Game of Thrones in Jeopardy!

Jeopardy

Game of Thrones took over the Jeopardy board in yesterday’s first round of the syndicated game show, with four category titles riffing on GoT (with non-Thrones clues) and the fifth category centering entirely on the HBO program itself.

The contestants cleared the category easily. How did you do?

I think for a regular fan of the show, those were very easy questions but it’s flattering and fun to have an iconic show like Jeopardy give a shout-out to Game of Thrones. And it’s nice to see returning superchamp Matt Jackson knows his Game of Thrones!

You can check out the questions and answers from the other categories (and the rest of the game) at the J! Archive for yesterday’s game.

  1. The combination of the font u guys used and the blue color reminds me of the NY Giants. I will not participate bc of that…..E-A-G-L-E-S……it’s giants wk, they clash next MNF in a big division game

  2. Too easy for me (and I’m sure for many others here).

But then this is a GoT site, so what would you expect 😉

  3. “This ginger haired fellow went to Greenland in the 980’s because he couldn’t stop murdering people in Iceland…”

What is Tormond Giantsbane after finding out about Jon Snow.

  4. Easy! You know nothin’, Trebek!

WotW trivia sometime? I’d bet this community would kick ass.

I can start us off with an easy one (no cheating!) 🙂

What city does Jorah Mormont make a side trip to during the khalasar’s journey to Vaes Dothrak (S1) ? Why does he go there?

  5. coronaking,

According to the Lexicon for this site:

Hodor = Besides the one and only vocabulary word for the character Hodor, it is often the first thing the first commenter of every post says. WotW commenters often compete to see who can be the first one to say it.

  6. Lion of Night,

What is Qohor? 🙂 (He rides there to send a message to Varys about Daenerys’s pregnancy after Irri tells him and Rakharo the news).

I agree that WOTW trivia sounds great in theory, particularly with the passionate and knowledgeable community we have here. We could break out some truly obscure questions that, when answered, would really reveal how nerdy and obsessed with this world some of us really are. Unfortunately, I think such a game would be hard to organize and keep honest on the Internet, particularly in an open comment thread like this one. In my experience, trivia tends to be a game that’s more fun to play in person, under time pressure … and preferably with some alcohol. 🙂 It would be a blast to do it at a convention or something if we could ever get enough members of the community in one place.

But hey, if someone figures out a way to make it work around here, I’m happy to play!

  7. Caught that episode on Monday night. The “Game Of Thrones” category was a little too easy, but the other categories had some good, tough ones. The contestants avoided “GOT” at first, but then that one player breezed right through it. If Jeopardy does this again I hope they’ll have some of the show people do videos telling the answers. 🙂

  8. Chris,

Central Jersey. I get both NY and philly radio/TV stations. I can’t stand the Giants. Eagles main rivalry is with the cowgirls but for me it’s the Giants. Well maybe they’re the same bc i cant stand both.

This could be done in the forum section if anyone wanted to take it on. Problem is…..not too many people here even know there is a forum section. 😉

Well not being American I don’t know this quiz, but if you are having a poke at show watchers -v- book readers (and don’t let’s forget that watching the show does not preclude having read the books) be honest, I know ASOIAF books are pretty hefty but one doesn’t need to be a genius to read them.
