  1. First off, thanks for sharing, Sue. Can’t wait to have the bluray set.

Second…I know this is subjective and only my opinion, but I’m not digging the new art style(s) for the histories and lore feature. It was consistent for four seasons, and now it changes all of a sudden. Why?

  2. I don’t like the art, but I appreciate the cameos.

2:13 The Knight of the Laughing Tree
    3:50 Jon Connington
    🙂

  3. Great video, though I would have liked a bit more about his fellow Kingsguard.

“I swore an oath to House Targaryen, and I failed them. All that’s left of their fire is a single ember halfway across the world, surrounded by darkness.

There are two who fit that description 🙂

  4. Bryan.O,

Well the whole point of saying “Hodor” is to be the very first one in the message board to post for that particular article. Good Luck next time. You have to be fast though!! These fans are on top of it!!

  5. Ser Roger Sterling: Love the little mentions, like Lewyn Martell.

Completely agree! The teases make these such treats, especially when it comes to Aerys’ Kingsguard. I don’t know what it is about them, but personally I can’t get enough of them, Martell, Darry, Dayne, the lot.

You mean the banner of the Knight of the Laughing Tree, right? Is the knight generally considered to be

    Lyanna

? And will we get to see this tale this season, along with the ToJ? Goodness, I hope so!

  7. Bryan.O:
I have never had the operunity to comment on a post this early on! So hodor. Did i do it correctley?

Traditionally, it is the first post that gets the Hodor, although often the first few who think they have it will try, as well. I’ve signed up for the email alerts (“Notify me of new posts by email”) and recently moved these alerts to my “focused” folder in the Outlook app so that my phone buzzes and notifies whenever a new post goes up. That’s been helpful in the Hodoring.

    I shouldn’a told you that.

  8. Edward:
I hope Barristan does something EPIC in the next book

Yeah…I hope “Sound the attack!” are not his last words (from TWoW, Barristan I) but they may be.

  9. Ginevra: And will we get to see this tale this season, along with the ToJ? Goodness, I hope so!

    Seconded…I hope so as well.

No way Lyanna was kidnapped. She was mysterious and determined. Her secrets need to be explored!
  10. Posted on westeros.org ?

Actually a relief they love the show so much.
Looking forward to Linda and Elio´s reviews.

  11. Aw, thanks for puting this up.

I love the artwork & animation, and especially ol’ Barri’s narration (Ian McIlhenney is so great!)

True Barri style, he glosses over issues with ideas of honour and duty…

Take a look at the burning scene. There’s one KG to the right of Mad King Aerys, all the others, including Barri, are to the left. (from the king’s POV.)
Who’s right? I bet it’s young Jaime. The Kingslayer, the man without honour. The only KG who had the courage to do the right thing, at huge personal cost.

I love these animations, can’t wait to get more online! I don’t have a Blu-ray device so I’ll buy the DVDs – so don’t worry, HBO! 😀

  12. In the books’ continuity, the War of the Ninepenny Kings occurred during the short reign of Jaehaerys II.

The TV continuity cut Jaehaerys II – officially stated and confirmed by Cogman – leading to question of whether it occurred at the end of Aegon V’s reign or beginning of Aerys II’s reign.

Now this video confirms it was the late years of Aegon V’s reign in the TV continuity.

Lmao. Just noticed the Westeros link in the article. Kinda shocked it’s in there.

  14. i always see young barristan looking like obi wan kenobi in episode 3 lol stil i don’t undertand all the love for rhaegar…i love ser badasstan but he was too much of a targ fanboy..

  15. Only weeks away from delivery! Had this on order for months, since it was first announced! All I need now is my new 4K TV to arrive and…… If Bob’s your uncle, then I’ll go with Barristan as mine!

All hail the best there was, the best there is (used to be), the best there ever will be!

  16. I can’t get through my skull how much of an ass kissing Rhaegar gets after all the BIG mistakes he made. For Barristan only the Mad king seems responsible of the Targaryen downfall but he dismisses Rhaegar’s stupidty and lack of skill in combat. I really hope he ends up being the monster Robert said he was.

  17. The animation is much better this year, last year animation was just abyssmal, trust me i’m a senior in 3D animation and computer graphics and i’m not the best in animation but i know fairly enough to tell the difference, i specialise in 3D environment modeling but anyways the art style isn’t good though i preferred the last one.

  18. Wilber’s Forza Danza: All I need now is my new 4K TV to arrive

We will need a full review of your 4K upgrade. Is it curved and 50″+? I am considering an upgrade from 1080p and am trying to get some owner perspectives. Is there a noticeable difference between 1080p and 4K (for young and older eyes)? 🙂

  19. Ginevra: Is the knight generally considered to be?

    Yes

And will we get to see this tale this season, along with the ToJ?

I don’t think we’ll be that lucky. Maybe they’ll tell the story, though.

  20. I think this additional information makes it very clear that we will have a lot of history in the upcoming season. Of course the TOJ is essentially confirmed by the filming information but maybe we get a better idea of the events that led to it and not just the R+L=J reveal (only to Bran, I assume). This video of course gives us already some pieces and we have some hints from previous seasons. I really hope for more information about the tourney of Herrenhal, the knight of the laughing tree, the connection to House Reed and maybe even JohnCon?

Anyway, I really liked this video and am glad to see Ser Grandpa one more time – maybe I will read some more about him eventually…

    Hasn’t Jorah taken Connington’s role?

  22. Can HBO please hurry up and just make a Robert’s Rebellion series already!

    Without D & D’s involvement though!

  23. Al Swearengen:

We need Wise (Weiss) and Brilliant (Beinoff). They’ve catapulted this series into legendary status.

  24. Jack Bauer 24,

I’m not surprised. This site is great about making sure they always cite their sources.

Tywin of the Hill: I don’t think we’ll be that lucky. Maybe they’ll tell the story, though.

I don’t think we’ll be that lucky, either, but my gawd,

since we’re likely going to be seeing Howland Reed at the ToJ, wouldn’t that be perfect!?!
  25. I’m excited that they’ve included the banner of House Dayne in that still frame, right next to the Stark direwolf. Things like that tend to be placed for a reason, so I do hope we get some House Dayne mentions this season, along side seeing the ‘legendary fighter’ in a certain flashback. But we need an effin trailer ffs.

  26. Al Swearengen,

The only reason Bryan Cogman even has a job is because of D&D,most of his scripts are taken after D&D’s input, conclusion,Cogman doesn’t exist without D&D .

  27. r-hard,

You know, I’ve struggled to come up with anyone I could see playing Rhaegar, but Tom Hiddleston could do it. He has the right facial shape, could probably actually pull of the silver wig needed and can do the melancholy thing with depth. I feel we are missing a piece of his personality by only having memories of him so far. Maybe a bit of Targaryen madness. I’d really love an unbiased scene in the books or tv series to see what his personality really was.
