The Emmys are Coming! And with them just around the corner, the Television Academy has announced the first group of presenters set to hand out the awards live at the 71st Emmy Awards on September 22. Unsurprisingly the show will feature the Game of Thrones cast, as the Emmys always has a strong showing from the GoT cast on the red carpet but this year there will be a huge turnout on the stage as well.
According to the official Emmys press release, GoT stars and current Emmy nominees Alfie Allen, Gwendoline Christie, Emilia Clarke, Peter Dinklage, Kit Harington, Lena Headey, Sophie Turner, Carice van Houten, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, and Maisie Williams will all present this year. The award categories are not yet specified.
Tune into the ceremony airing live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 22, from 8:00PM-11:00 PM ET (5:00PM-8:00 PM PT) on FOX to find out if Game of Thrones will take home any awards. They’re nominated for a record number of Emmys this year- 32- but with the show competing against itself in some categories, there is bound to be a lot of vote-splitting. Either way, it’ll be fun to see the cast turning out in force on the red carpet one more time!
Maisie!
Honestly, I don’t expect any of the GoT Supporting Actress nominees to win. Vote-splitting will make it unlikely that one of them can corral enough votes.
However, now that I know Sophie T. and Maisie W. will be in attendance, I am definitely going to tune in to the awards show at 8:00 pm Sunday September 22 to see if they sit next to each other and troll the TV audience with Mophie faux makeout sessions.
In Behind the Scenes footage of filming Arya & Sansa reunion scenes in S7e4, the two of them got a kick out of embracing and leaning in for a deep kiss – before bursting out in giggles. They seem to bring out the goofiness in each other. I can’t imagine them resisting the temptation to do something silly.

Does that mean Petra will share the stage as a co-presenter with Alfie Allen?
What if they present in couples? Totally down for Nikolaj and Gwen together, Lena and Peter, Kit and Emilia, Maisie and Sophie and Carice and Alfie. But other couples could be possible as well.
Emmys this year will be huge celebration of Game of Thrones. I can’t wait. No matter what they win, the whole thing will be about GoT.
*squeeee* I ARE SO EXCITE
And the winner is: Game of thrones season 8.
I really hate the way they choose the winner this year. The previous way was better. That was if I’m not mistaken that they needed to make a top to bottom list and that was added up together. And the highest won. If it was different please correct me.
I like this idea. But a humourous twist might be to “subvert expectations” and do unusual pairs, say Alfie and Peter, Maisie and Emilia, Sophie and Carice, etc.
So all the individual cast nominees are attending. I’d also expect the non-cast nominees to attend and probably/maybe some of the cast that wasn’t nominated individually, for the show and support, like Liam for example. They should have a pretty big GoT contingent in attendance. 😀
That sounds great to me!! Since we didn’t reeally get to see them do anything together on the show, we could at least have that.
I’m imagining Peter flipping Alfie a coin for a prostitute when they come on stage as a call-back to S1. 😉
Kit and Emilia
Sophie and Maisie
Alfie and Gwen
Nikolaj and Lena
Peter and Carice
Clob,

____
I’m imagining Peter bringing a jackass and a honeycomb with him when he comes on stage.
Clob,
Ben Hawkeye + Maisie Williams = Power Couple.
That would be awesome! I really want to see that happen now!!
If they do it in pairs, that would cover quite a few awards, maybe they will present as a group? Shouldn’t the Emmy’s at least pretend that it isn’t a GOT event? unless it’s normal to have so many cast members present? I can’t say I ever paid much attention.
If they do go with pairs the obvious choices are Kit/Emilia, Maisie/Sophie, and then I don’t know. NCW could present with Lena or Gwen, and Lena could present with Peter (didn’t they live together during filming?) Alfie and Gwen would be good as they are mates too, but I’m not sure where Carice fits in.
I see that Naomi Watts is a presenter as well.
I know Richard Madden wasn’t nominate individually and don’t know if he’ll attend for Bodyguard, but if he is it would also be cool to see him and Kit present together. I don’t see Richard on the presenters list though so… *shrug*
It’s a bit (!) o.t., but I wondered about that. As far as I remember (I had no possibility to watch S 8 again since it first aired), Arya/Maisie didn’t show up together with Dany/Emilia, as if Arya avoided to meet her…
Unexpected is better. The pairs should be actors that never had significant conversations/relationships on the show. Maybe
Lena and Alfie/Clarice
Peter and Clarice/Alfie
Kit and Gwen
Emilia and Maisie
Sophie and Nikolaj
Yeah, they were only in the same scene/location together a handful of times, and “same scene” is stretching it. The season opening scene as Arya watched the arrival from Winter town, The planning ‘committee’ for defending against the aotd, the funeral after, and when Arya spoke to Jon in KL as Daenerys walked away. They never said a word directly to each other. It’s genuinely one of my biggest disappointments…
(They completely dismissed Arya’s fascination with the stories of the Targaryen princesses and their dragons and thought it was better for the story to have Arya keep her distance. They could have had those things to talk about, Nymeria (the direwolf and woman) and they could have kept/inserted Arya having learned Valyrian at the HoBaW like the books so they could have spoken in that language. I think they could have shown both to be impressed with each other early and still gotten to where they did, if that had to be. but nope)
viki,
If you ever want to see why D and D always inserted short jokes for Kit Google him and Iwan Rheon standing next to Gwen and Rory McCann
Unusual presenter pairings and other cast members showing up just to turn it into one last big GoT party would be fun.
But I totally concur re: Dany+Arya. It would have been awesome to see them interact, and I realistically believe that Arya would have, at least for a while, been fascinated by and taken with Dany.
Charles Dance is nominated for Best Narrator for “Savage Kingdom”. Imagine if they called him as a presenter with one of his children on stage. Imagine if he were with Peter.
I really hope GOT absolutely smashes it out the ball park. Good luck all nominees!!
1) It will be great to see this group again – although my upcoming schedule is unlikely to allow for watching. Enjoy, I look forward to any posts on GOT’s big night.
2) It will be a brilliant night as they march off into the sunset. Despite GOT8 weaknesses, they should win and win as they only need to be better than the others in contention. Plus final year industry recognition.
3) Isaac? No Isaac? The king does not hand out statuettes?
4) I do not care how they appear in what batches- they will do well! Excellent cast!
5) It is not that surprising that the GOT cast will be so active in handing out prizes. They will be at the show. Many of the other big shows are not eligible this year so many of the other “name” actors in “big” ongoing shows will not attend this year unless they are contractually required to or for promotional purposes. So the GOT staff will give awards to the comedy actors (mostly Veep) and vice- versa. I suppose that the Variety shows with late-night comedy acts and SNL will also get into the gifting – they will be there and will get bumped up on the list for stage appearances.
Semi Off-Topic:
At last night’s Saturn Awards
“Game of Thrones took home four: best fantasy television series, best actress on a television series (Emilia Clarke), best supporting actor on a television series (Peter Dinklage) and best performance by a younger actor on a television series (Maisie Williams).”
