WotW Awards Season 6: All-Around Best Quote – Preliminary Round

season6 awards

Over the past few days in the Watchers on the Wall Awards, we’ve been focusing on the words of Game of Thrones– the dialogue of season 6 and its delivery by the cast members. We’ve covered Best Speech and Funniest Quote (the latter category is still open for voting!), and now we’re turning our attention to- well, all of them. It’s time to vote on the All-Around Best Quote of Game of Thrones Season 6. Some of them are funny, some sweet, some heartbreaking, all of them worthy contenders in their own way.

The nominations are entirely from you, the fans, gathered up from our initial suggestions post. And there are a whole lot of them! But you get five choices in this preliminary round, and how you decide what is the best is up to you.

The standard rules: Select up to FIVE nominees from the poll. You can choose fewer if you like, but you cannot choose more than 5.

At the end of 72 hours (Tuesday 9/6/16 at 5PM EDT), whichever five quotes have the most votes will continue on to the finals. The results of the poll will be revealed when it’s time to choose the winner of All-Around Best Quote in a week.

Thanks again to Greatjon of Slumber for his assistance in tallying the nominations!

  1. 1) “Well, father always promised didn’t he?” *CRIES LIKE A BABY*
    2) “Good, now go fail again.”
    3) “I loved that girl, like she was my own. She was good, she was kind and you killed her.”
    4) “I fought. I lost. Now I rest. But you, Lord Snow, you’ll be fighting their battles forever.”
    5) “Does death only come for the wicked and leave the decent behind?”

I could easily pick 10 more. Such an amazing season.

  2. How is one to choose from so many? I had to read the list three times before I could even begin to decide. Especially since it’s about the quote, not the scene. I chose the words for their catchiness – so rather shorter quotes which are to the point and very memorable, such as “I’m Arya Stark of Winterfell and I’m going home” and “Nowytends”.

  3. Now, for real.

“I fought. I lost. Now I rest. But you, Lord Snow, you will be fighting their battles forever.” – Alliser Thorne One day we should make a “Best Last Words” poll.
“Bargaining with oathbreakers is like building on quicksand.” – The Blackfish A lot of the fans that criticise the Blackfish’s actions need to understand this.
“Does death only come for the wicked and leave the decent behind?” – Jaqen H’ghar As 6 seasons of GoT have taught us, no. ?
If you acquire a reputation as a mad dog, you’ll be treated as a mad dog.” – Roose Bolton That one would have been better if Ramsay’s downfall had really been because of his reputation.
“The time has come. Leave me.” – Three-Eyed Raven The delivery was incredible.

  4. Hardest so far! My choices

    * Now it begins.. – One of my favorite quote from the books, of course I will vote for it

    * Tyrion Lannister, I name you Hand of the Queen – Not a profound quote, but I was almost in tears during that scene, and I liked Emilia’s acting in that scene more than the Vaes Dothrak scene (which was also great).

    * You’re in the great game now. And the great game is terrifying. – A much better quote than “I drink and I know things” (which I thought was more suitable for HBO merchandise than the actual story).

    * My watch is ended. – The micdrop that made me cry out in glee.

    * I am the storm, brother. The first storm and the last. And now you’re in my way – A book quote that made into a great scene.

  5. There were so many good ones to choose from but ultimately I chose words from The Blackfish (he rules!), Lyanna Mormont, Jon Snow, Davos and Gilly.

  6. That was the hardest one so far – so many great quotes! And given that my initial nomination submission had a good percentage of them, it was almost impossible to cut it down.

My watch is ended – A moment that really turned Jon’s story in another direction. Jon chose to return to the Watch at the end of season one, and he has repeatedly chosen the Night’s Watch since; this is the first time that he definitively departs from his duty to them. The emotion with which the line is delivered, and the bitterness Jon clearly feels about what has happened to him, really makes it something.

A girl is Arya Stark of Winterfell. And I’m going home – One line that completely sums up the culmination of Arya’s Braavos arc. I cheered internally when Maisie delivered this line, and I love the reclaiming of Arya’s Stark identity. In so many ways, for all the Starks the theme of ‘home’ looms large throughout the season.

If Robert finds out, he’ll kill him. You know he will. You have to protect him. Promise me, Ned. Promise me. Promise me, Ned. Promise me – The words that haunted Ned Stark for the remainder of his life; the end of a very short scene loaded with emotion and implications beyond those in the room. I had been anticipating this scene for so long, and it really didn’t disappoint.

Drop that arrow, you bloody girl. Tougher girls than you have tried to kill me – I love Sandor Clegane, and could probably have selected all the Sandor lines available (but decided to limit it to one per character!). He has the best lines in the show, and I am so excited that he is back!

He can wield a sword. He killed a Thenn. He killed a White Walker. I saw it with my own eyes on our way down to Castle Black. He drove a dagger into the Walker’s heart. He risked his own life to save mine more than once. He’s a greater warrior than either of you will ever be – I loved Gilly completely owning Randyll Tarly; he has spoken down to Sam all his life, and it was great for someone – particularly someone other than Melessa or Talla – to stick up for him, and make it clear that Randyll has completed overlooked Sam’s value.

Hardest omission – Davos’s grief over Melisandre’s burning of Shireen.

  7. Ok this was hard.I went with Arya’s last words to Walder Frey. Her revenge is costing her as much as her victims and I know it’s an empty feeling but when I remember her face while watching Robb with Grey Wind’s head my heart goes out to her. Then Brother Ray’s violence is a disease,Jon’s My watch is ended,Lyanna’s Kitn one and Lyanna’s last words to Ned.I left out so many though I wanted to choose literally everything from Davos but couldn’t decide

  8. Well, as much as the Hound was, for me, the all-winner of the funny quotes, this one goes all the way to ser Davos of Seaworth !

  9. OT
There’s one thing that bothers me about the dialogue in the Tower of Joy (I visited the Castle of Zafra a few weeks ago, BTW).

    Outside the Tower:
    Ned: “Where is my sister?”
Arthur Dayne: “I wish you good fortune in the wars to come…And now it begins.”
    Ned: “No. Now it ends”.

So what’s the “it” in “Now it ends” supposed to mean? The wars to come? The fortune in the wars to come? And why is Ned saying it’s ending now?
    Please, somebody explain.

  10. “If they’re half as ferocious as their lady…”

“I’m not a Stark”, “You are to me.”

“A girl is Arya Stark of Winterfell…”

    “Hold the door!”

“I command you to find a cure…” (so sad!)

  11. Too many great ones. Luckily, I picked some of the same in other categories, so I don’t feel too bad leaving them out. My picks:

“Does death only come for the wicked and leave the decent behind?” – Jaqen H’ghar

I feel like this was truly one of the best quotes this year, and sums up Game of Thrones nicely.

“A girl is Arya Stark of Winterfell. And I’m going home.” – Arya Stark

Been waiting for that for a good long time. And the little smile on Jaqen’s face – he’s been waiting for it too.

“As long as I’m standing, the war is not over. This is my home. I was born in this castle and I’m ready to die in it. So you can either attack or try to starve us out. We have enough provisions for two years. Do you have two years, Kingslayer?” – The Blackfish

As much as I love Jaime, the verbal smack down he got from the Blackfish was one of the highlights of the season.

“You can’t kill me. I’m a part of you now.” – Ramsay Bolton

Yup. I have no doubt that this will be proven to be true.

“I am the storm, brother. The first storm and the last. And now you’re in my way.” – Euron Greyjoy

Such a great intro and scene.

I regret that I couldn’t also have picked Margaery’s “Forget the bloody gods….”. I can’t think of anyone from Season 6 that I will miss more. Saavy, smart, a great player but a humane one who loved her family…what a woman.

  12. Bummed to leave out Jaqen’s line “Does death come only for the wicked and leave the decent behind?” So moving and meaningful

  13. Arthur Dayne: “And now it begins.” Ned Stark: “No. Now it ends.”

“You are small men. You’re not fit to lead the Dothraki. But I am, so I will.” – Daenerys Targaryen

“If they’re half as ferocious as their lady, the Boltons are doomed.” – Davos Seaworth

“I loved that girl like she was my own. She was good, she was kind, and you killed her.” – Davos Seaworth

“Tell them what happened when Danaerys Stormborn and her dragons came to Meereen.” – Tyrion Lannister

  14. “I’m tired of fighting. It’s all I’ve done since I left home. I’ve killed brothers of the Night’s Watch. I’ve killed wildlings. I’ve killed men that I admire. I hanged a boy, younger than Bran. I’ve fought, and I lost.” – Jon Snow

  15. Ive said this in other categories – lets just say that season 6 is the best of the series and leave it at that. But then what would we do with ourselves if not discussing these choices 🙂 Not sure why I made the choices I did but:

My name is Arya Stark…. to Walder

    Dany to Dothraki leaders

Davos – Maybe that was our mistake, believing in kings

Jon to Davos : I failed

    Promise me

BTW surprised that the Hound quote “drop the arrow you bloody girl, tougher girls than you have tried to kill me’ wasn’t in funnier quotes – or did I miss that?

  16. Couldn’t choose between Arya’s words to Walder and her words to Jaqen, so I chose both. After that, HOld the door, King in the North, and Promise me, Ned.

What a wonderful show that gives such terrific lines to the star parts (Jon and Dany), the villains (Ramsay especially), the very aged (Three Eyed Raven) and the very young (Lyanna), the strutting monomaniacs (Euron) and the humble (Brother Ray)…and everyone in between.

  17. I went with:

My name is Arya Stark. I want you to know that. The last thing you’ll ever see is a Stark smiling down at you, as you die.” – Arya Stark

“I fought. I lost. Now I rest. But you, Lord Snow, you will be fighting their battles forever.” – Alliser Thorne

Jon: “I failed.” Davos: “Good. Now go fail again.”

“Your words will disappear. Your house will disappear. Your name will disappear. All memory of you will disappear.” – Sansa Stark

Sansa: “Winter is here.” Jon: “Well, father always promised, didn’t he?”

There were soo many good ones I had to leave out!

  18. Firannion,

    Agree !

Four out of five of my selected lines were from Davos, but if there was only one that should make it to the final round, I hope it would be the “Good, now go fail again !

  19. Tywin of the Hill:

I have the same problem. What does this thing mean? I would much rather expect Dayne to say it ends, and Ned it begins. I guess people who have read the books may be in a position to understand this dialogue better??
Anyway, I didn’t vote for this quote. I voted for Jaqen’s good men die and Davos’ go fail again, because of their greater (I mean off-screen) relevance. Also for Jon’s my watch has ended, as I believe it is a major turning point for his character and the story in general. And for Arya’s A girl is… and Euron’s storm quote because they were awsomely delivered, in terrific scenes.
It’s a pity Euron’s one didn’t really came to much after that. I mean, what an entrance, and the rest of his story arc was kind of a let down this season. I have my hopes up for season 7 though.

  20. Rhaenys Stark,

I hope we don’t get a surfeit of Season 1 reaction videos now simply because the few people that were doing them have proved popular. I can’t judge the Mareck Productions ones because I haven’t watched them though I have liked some of the others that have been doing them. I’m going to have to restrict my internet access though because it can become addictive and I am far from the world’s best housekeeper but there comes a stage when even the world’s worst has to play catch-up rather than spend time at the computer.

  21. This is quite possibly the only award category where I just can’t decide on a single winner. I hope that only one of the three quotes I voted for will make it to the finale, so I will have an easier time then. My votes today:

Aliser Thorne: I thought. I lost. Now I rest. But you, Lord Snow, you’ll be fighting their battles forever. (so chilling, so true)
Arya: A girl is Arya Stark of Winterfell. And I’m going home. (most badass moment of the entire season)
Sansa: Your words will disappear. Your house will disappear. Your name will disappear. All memory of you will disappear. (second-most badass moment of the season)

  22. I wonder if, for these polls with so many options, there’ll be a trend where those listed in the first half are picked more often than those in the second half…

Anyway, I went with some of the shorter quotes that would do well on a t-shirt (in my opinion “best quote” is not the same as “best dialogue”, much like “best dramatic scene” is not just a one-liner).

  23. ghost of winterfell,

“Your words will disappear. Your house will disappear. Your name will disappear. All memory of you will disappear.” – Sansa Stark

I didn’t notice that one!! Woulda picked it…ah well

Here’s another that I didn’t see in funniest quotes and maybe should have been (unless I missed it) “”Thank you for the armada. Our queen does love ships.” -Tyrion Lanniste)

    Tar Kidho,

Yeah, that happens in elections all the time – those down ballot candidates like mayor or city council get forgotten if the ballot is too long. So I wouldn’t be surprised

Sue, do you put in any quote that anyone submits? Or does a quote need to have a certain number of submissions to be? Wondering if this is the better way of doing it; less selections, a little easier to vote on

  24. ash:
    ghost of winterfell,

I didn’t notice that one!! Woulda picked it…ah well

Here’s another that I didn’t see in funniest quotes and maybe should have been (unless I missed it) “”Thank you for the armada. Our queen does love ships.” -Tyrion Lanniste)

I’m pretty sure it was there.

Otherwise this category is very much Davos Seaworth’s. Only given the number of his submitted lines, probably none will make it to the finals (split voting), so sad.

  25. ash,

Any quote, as long as we can tell what the nomination is. We can’t use vote amounts to determine what quotes get to be in the prelim vote at all, because people have a habit of forgetting really prominent things but maybe one person will nominate it. The prelims ARE the narrowing down stage.

The list is alphabetized by speaker so there is rhyme and reason to it.

    Sou,

They’re referring to the fight they’re having. I think you’re maybe overanalyzing it a bit. Ned, having been hunting for Lyanna a while, it’s more of an ending. You won’t get much help from the books- it’s a hazy, the event is a memory in Ned’s mind and somewhat scattered.

  26. Excruticiangly difficult as always, but these are my five:

“I’m tired of fighting. It’s all I’ve done since I left home. I’ve killed brothers of the Night’s Watch. I’ve killed wildlings. I’ve killed men that I admire. I hanged a boy, younger than Bran. I’ve fought, and I lost.” – Jon Snow

“The other things he did, ladies aren’t supposed to talk about those things, but I imagine brothel keepers talk about them all the time. I can still feel it – I don’t mean in my tender heart it pains me so. I can still feel what he did to my body, standing here right now.” – Sansa Stark

“The crows killed him because he spoke for the Free Folk when no other southerners would. He died for us; if we’re not willing to do the same for him, we’re cowards. And if that’s what we are, we deserve to be the last of the Free Folk.” – Tormund Giantsbane

“Jon Snow avenged the Red Wedding. He is the White Wolf – the King in the North!” – Wyman Manderly

“I never demand, but I’m up for anything really.” – Yara Greyjoy

And the honorable mentions, which I would have voted for if this was a TOP 10:

“As long as I’m standing, the war is not over. This is my home. I was born in this castle and I’m ready to die in it. So you can either attack or try to starve us out. We have enough provisions for two years. Do you have two years, Kingslayer?” – The Blackfish

“Violence is a disease—you don’t cure it by spreading it to more people.” – Brother Ray

“I loved that girl like she was my own. She was good, she was kind, and you killed her.” – Davos Seaworth

“I am the storm, brother. The first storm and the last. And now you’re in my way.” – Euron Greyjoy

“The war is not over. And I promise you, friend, the true enemy won’t wait out the storm. He brings the storm.” – Jon Snow

“I am Theon Greyjoy, last living son of Balon Greyjoy, and she is your rightful ruler. Those of you that have sailed under her – and there are many of you here – you know what she is. She is a reaver. She is a warrior. She is ironborn. We will find no better leader. This is our queen.” – Theon Greyjoy

  27. ash,

Yeah, with so many choices, it’s easy to miss some. I have to read through these lists at least twice before I can narrow it down, lol.

    Tywin of the Hill,

    Sou,

I think Ned says “now it ends” because this fight signifies the end of the war for him, the end of all the deaths and destruction it caused and the loss of friends. That’s why in the books, in Ned’s memory, he sounds sad when he says it. That was my interpretation.

  28. After a category of “funny” quotes, where many of them were more sinister than funny or were the lead-in to some gruesome events, I decided to go with the more positive uplifting ones. Everybody has their own way of filtering, that’s mine for this category.

“A girl is Arya Stark of Winterfell. And I’m going home.” – Arya Stark Those few words have so many shades of meaning. At first she refers to herself as “a girl” as she had been taught to do during all those long months of training. It had been literally pounded into her to give up thinking of herself as a “self”, to think of herself as being anonymous, from nowhere, belonging NOwhere. But that’s impossible – from her first breath, she belonged somewhere, she had a worthy name, and now she realizes that more than ever. And she’s going back there, where she belongs. I cheered, then muttered “it’s about effing time, honey.” I talk to the TV a lot while watching GoT. Hearing Arya say this made me very happy.

“I’m not a Stark. … You are to me.” Again, cohesion, awakening to the worthiness of oneself and someone else. This was a huge step for both Jon and Sansa, the casting-off of attitudes formed in a different time, when their world was totally different, into more mature ways of seeing the world.

Two of Brother Ray’s: ” Violence is a disease …” and “It’s never too late to come back.” Said to Sandor, but it applies to the world, then and now. Again, about casting off old, negative attitudes and applying value to the rest of your life.

Dany telling Jorah to find a cure, that she needed him.
Hearing that from her lips will fuel poor Jorah for the rest of his life. It was a softer moment for Dany, and very welcome.

While Olenna’s words were clever, and bit Cersei in her hind end, they proved to be Olenna’s undoing. Olenna may have won those little battles with Cersei, but her words caused her to lose the ultimate war. Cersei was goaded into taking everything from Olenna: her son, her beloved grandchildren, her future. So I couldn’t vote for those at all. They were a disaster waiting to happen.

The honorable mentions would include Gilly’s defense of Sam, Davos’ comment about ferocious little Lyanna and Yara saying she was up for anything.

  29. What I want to know is how LM’s speech: House Mormont has kept faith with House Stark for hundreds of years or whatever it was exactly isn’t on this list.

  30. Sweet! (I mean the pic with Jon and Rose – couldn’t care less what his hair looks like. So glad they area couple!

  31. Several other categories were near-impossible, but none more so than this one. I have absolutely no idea what’s going to make the final five, but luckily there are no shortage of amazing possibilities! Whatever the final nominees ultimately are, I expect I’ll be very happy.

Sansa: “Winter is here.” Jon: “Well, father always promised, didn’t he?”

“Jon Snow avenged the Red Wedding. He is the White Wolf – the King in the North!” – Wyman Manderly

“I fought. I lost. Now I rest. But you, Lord Snow, you will be fighting their battles forever.” – Alliser Thorne

“The other things he did, ladies aren’t supposed to talk about those things, but I imagine brothel keepers talk about them all the time. I can still feel it – I don’t mean in my tender heart it pains me so. I can still feel what he did to my body, standing here right now.” – Sansa Stark

“This pains me, my lord. Whatever your faults, you do not deserve to die alone in such a cold, dark place. But sometimes, before we can usher in the new, the old must be put to rest.” – Qyburn

Also Considered/Toughest Omissions: (not comprehensive – I actually considered at least 30).

“Hold the door!” – Meera and Hodor

“Your words will disappear. Your house will disappear. Your name will disappear. All memory of you will disappear.” – Sansa Stark

“You’re in the great game now. And the great game is terrifying.” – Tyrion Lannister

“You are small men. None of you are fit to lead the Dothraki. But I am, so I will.” – Daenerys Targaryen

“The crows killed him because he spoke for the Free Folk when no other southerners would. He died for us; if we’re not willing to do the same for him, we’re cowards. And if that’s what we are, we deserve to be the last of the Free Folk.” – Tormund Giantsbane

“Does death only come for the wicked and leave the decent behind?” – Jaqen H’ghar

Jon: “I failed.” Davos: “Good. Now go fail again.”

“A girl is Arya Stark of Winterfell. And I’m going home.” – Arya Stark

“My name is Arya Stark. I want you to know that. The last thing you’re ever going to see is a Stark smiling down at you, as you die.” – Arya Stark

Jon: “I’m not a Stark.” Sansa: “You are to me.”

Agreed. And I always took Dayne’s statement as meaning that he was really relishing a good fight at that point. He had been kept far from the action of the last months of Robert’s Rebellion on his prince’s orders, guarding a tower in the middle of nowhere, probably bored out of his mind. And he had probably been kicking himself for not having been present to help Rhaegar in his final battle with Robert. Ned was really pushing his buttons with his ‘Where were you?’ taunts.

  33. ghost of winterfell,

I wouldn’t be surprised if Sophie decides to wear a wig. I read a blind item a while ago and it hinted that her hair was starting to fall out because she’d dyed it so many times.

  34. Flayed Potatoes:
    ghost of winterfell,

I wouldn’t be surprised if Sophie decides to wear a wig. I read a blind item a while ago and it hinted that her hair was starting to fall out because she’d dyed it so many times.

That would probably be a good idea. I’ve noticed in a few photos that her hair is thinner in places near her forehead (I assumed maybe it was just how it was parted or pulled back), but I’ve seen some downright mean comments from people with nothing better to do who are apparently perfect. I have almost exactly the same hair as her, so too much colouring is super hard on it, especially if it’s fine and not overly thick.

  35. It was incredibly hard. There were at least a dozen I wanted to vote for.

But without a doubt my absolute favorite was my girl saying “A girl is Arya Stark of Winterfell. And I’m going home.” Been waiting for that for years. Followed closely by her brother, Jon, finally saying “My watch is ended”.

  36. 1. Jon: “I am not a Stark.” Sansa: “You are to me.”
    2. “Trion Lannister, I name you Hand of the Queen.” Daenerys
    3. “I feel the winds of winter as they lick across the land.” Lady Crane
    4. 3ER: “The time has come.” Bran: “The time for what? 3ER: “For you to become me.” Bran: “But… am I ready?” 3ER:”No.”
    5. “We know no king but the King in the North, whose name is Stark. I don’t care if he’s a bastard. Ned Stark’s blood runs through his veins.” Lyanna Mormont

  37. Sophie Turner at the Venice film festival today. A bit surprising that she is still blonde. Hope they start the northern storyline next week!

So, Sophie is in Venice and still a blonde, Kit’s somewhere between NYC and the UK, and Liam, according to his twitter, is in Syria. C’mon, guys and gal, get to NI and start filming already. I’m greedy.

  38. Rose is so beautiful! And Kit is so cute saying that falling in love with her in Iceland under the Northern Lights was his best memory. <3

The only three that really stick out to me are: "Hold the door!"; "I drink and I know things."; and Lyanna Mormont proclaiming Jon Ned's blood heir.

  39. BunBunStark,

Which makes one wonder who was Aidan Gillen filming with? Maybe LF will go south for some reason. The news of Dany’s arrival would be another setback to his plans.

  40. Rhaenys Stark,

Awww such a beautiful, seemingly down to earth couple 🙂 Ya know, I grew up being slender like her and got snarky comments for it at times. Around these parts it had become all about being “thick” ie prominent hips, rear and chest, as opposed to a just as “feminine” willowy build.

  41. ghost of winterfell,

Hard to tell with the shades on but it looks like the blonde shade washes her out, I prefer the red, it really brings out her eyes, I would have sworn it’s her natural color even.

  42. Flayed Potatoes,

I thought they used some kind of water based dye on her though, like henna. Ive heard that doesn’t harm the scalp or hair. Does anyone remember what they said used to make her hair red?

  43. The winner:

“I choose violence.” – Cersei Lannister

This quote was pretty badass and also could serve to define the theme of the season

    “Hold the door”

Because, obviously. If this isn’t in the top 5 there’s something wrong with you people 😛

And I found it interesting that this season almost all great quotes were Davo’s, and that I didn’t like any of the jokes of Tyrion.

  44. That was hard, so many to choose from!

A girl is Arya Stark of Winterfell. And I’m going home. – I gave a fist pump at this. Yay! Arya!

I choose violence. – kind of encapsulates Cersei. Also because in the same episode Jaime goes out of his way to avoid violence and bloodshed. A good contrast between the twins.

The real war is not between a few squabbling houses; it’s between the living and the dead. And make no mistake, my lady, the dead are coming. – Aw, love Davos and Liam Cunningham. And finally someone from the south voices the real threat.

My watch is ended. – So desolate, disillusioned, disgusted, determined. And what a mic-drop!

Hold the door! – because heartbreak. A phrase that reverberates through the years. 🙁

I’d really wanted to include Lady Olenna’s put-down of the sand snakes and Sansa’s “you’ll disappear…” but the above five really got to me when watching for the first time.

  45. Voted for:

“It’s never too late to come back.” – Brother Ray

“Does death only come for the wicked and leave the decent behind?” – Jaqen H’ghar

“You can’t kill me. I’m a part of you now.” – Ramsay Bolton

“I fought. I lost. Now I rest. But you, Lord Snow, you will be fighting their battles forever.” – Alliser Thorne

    “I wasn’t drowning. I was home.” – Bran Stark

    Honorable Mentions:

“It’s an abstract concept, isn’t it? Other people dying.” – Tyrion Lannister

“No one can protect me. No one can protect anyone.” – Sansa Stark

“I don’t mock the Drowned God. I am the Drowned God. From Oldtown to Qarth, when men see my sails, they pray.” – Euron Greyjoy

  46. Oh no trying to recap my final five and I can’t remember which of these didn’t make the cut lol

    – My watch is ended

    – A girl is Arya Stark of Winterfell

Those huge favorite character turning points would be my final two, I sure hope they were selected when I lost patience and clicked Vote!

    – Good. Now go fail again (Davos at his best)

    – But you, Lord Snow, will be fighting their battles forever. (devastating punch, fabulously delivered)

    – Promise me Ned. (a foundational pillar of the story, and yeah I’m a book reader)

    – where will WE go? (Starks reunited)

    – the last thing you’ll ever see is a Stark smiling down at you (we waited 3 seasons for this!)

Soooo many others. Great lines from Sansa, the Blackfish, almost anything from Davos or Olenna, and more…but looking back at my list I guess I am a little partial (ok, very) toward the north and the Snow/Stark storylines. Didn’t love Tyrion’s or Dany’s lines as much this season though there were a few in my honorable mentions. Cersei just makes my stomach turn, which I guess makes them powerful quotes but can’t call them favorites!

  47. I’m surprised this didn’t make the list:

“I saw your pecker, what kind of God would have a pecker that small?” – Tormund Giantsbane
