Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams interviewed by NYT

It’s a lovely New York Times article! With an interview!

It’s HERE!

FaB thought: I like that the article, written by Jeremy Egner, highlights how unique their situation is. Maisie says, “People say, ‘Do you ever miss being a normal teenager?’ And we don’t really know what that is, I guess. Because this is normal.” Nowadays too many articles try to paint their subjects as being perfectly normal, attempting to (one supposes) make the subject more “relatable” to the reader.

I’d much prefer to read about what makes them unique. And this does!

    Rygar,

You dick. I know what you really mean. It’s April Fools day.

But seriously….loving the write ups and its great to see you back on a regular rotation. And Sue has finally agreed to meet me for dinner!

  2. “She’s a powerful young woman now,” Ms. Turner said. “Rather than being a pawn in everyone else’s game, she’s playing her own.”

Now I KNOW it’s April Fools Day.

  4. Among the many reasons I want to see Sansa and Arya meet again is so that Sophie and Maisie have scenes together again.

  5. That’s a GREAT picture! They both seem so genuine and grounded. Hoping that their careers are everything that they desire without personal drama and scandal.

  6. A big fan of both, admire how invested they are in their characters. Must have helped having each other to navigate fame etc.

Benioff’s line about confidence and power not necessarily getting you to a desirable destination is an ominous one. I know you can’t be “Dark Sansa” getting away with shit forever but still, let a guy breathe!

Can’t wait to see Sophie as Jean Slayyy!

Among the many reasons I want this happen too, there’s one reason why I don’t want this to happen; especially knowing where their characters are heading or likely to be heading… If they ever meet up, it’s not going to have a happy ending (this is aSoIaF after all).

Nothing in the show is sunshine-and-rainbows, but the Starks are going to be together again. “The pack survives”, and all that.

  9. Balerion The Cat,

Lately, Lena seems to have been lost in the shuffle. Thx. Should be an awesome Cersei season as well. I guess I never realized that Olenna could be speaking directly to her. Intriguing! Can’t wait! Shall we take a walk soon?

  10. Anybody know what’s up with HBONOW? It’s April and my money is ready for it. But the weekend is around the corner and I’m itching to make it rain. Tough decisions ahead of me, for the night is dark and full of terrors.

  11. It was a great article and they both look beautiful. It’s nice to see they get along so well (like sisters) and they seem very well-grounded. I know it gets mentioned a lot, but I have to say the casting for this show has been really good so far. Hopefully it continues with the sand snakes.

  12. Rygritte:
Sophie is a blonde. Alayne is a brunette.

    She’s a Stone now.

She wears a wig as “Alayne”. Red hair has become Sophie’s identifiable hair colour now; she’s kept it dyed ever since the show started.

  13. Rygritte,

She’s introduced as Littlefinger’s niece in the show, not his bastard daughter. So she isn’t (necessarily) a Stone.

Which makes me think that’s how they’ll go about with the whole “Sansa in Winterfell” storyline. Sansa cannot be openly married to anyone; she’s a fugitive from the Crown. However, Littlefinger can marry off her niece, a Lady from a minor House, to the Bolton heir, as long as he can also offer something else (because if he doesn’t it’d be a horrible marriage deal for the Boltons). The forces of the Vale, maybe? Roose can’t refuse. I like it that way; while Ramsay marrying Sansa as Sansa doesn’t make any sense for the Boltons, this other theory does, and Littlefinger can have his own reasons to do it, whatever they are —if his trailer speech is to be believed, revenge against those who killed his dear Cat. So Littlefinger, Sansa and the Knights of the Vale can be a sort of Manderly in the show, too.

She didn’t dye it when she wasn’t filming. You can see her blonde roots.
