Game of Thrones Season 6, Episode 1 Video Recap Roundup

Game of Thrones Season 6 has returned and so has your weekly collection of recap and review videos from around the web! Dorne is certainly a topic of discussion, but were any other topics that elicited strong reactions? Watch and discuss!

Our friends Sandrine and Americ at HappyCool are here with a lively discussion of the season 6 premiere. Please check below the cuts for more video and reactions.

Jon’s awkward jokes (bless his heart, he sure does love GoT), Ben actually watching the thing they are talking about, the absence of Cenkus Khan, and Matt Atchity of Rotten Tomatoes make for a promising first chat over at What the Flick?!? As they have been doing with their movies, perhaps videos will start popping up with solo Cenk giving us some ‘final judgments’ on episodes…

Everyone’s favorite hair stylist / Game of Thrones critic / maybe Esme Bianco is back with some finger waving and new nicknames for season 6

schmoesknow, who have been doing very well for themselves over the past year, have weighed in again this season.

We have the thoughts from Red Team Review

This is an admittedly abbreviated list; I’d like to get your thoughts on what you want to see and who is doing videos this year. I’d like to point out that some of our favorite videos were blocked on copyright issues at the time of this post, hopefully if things get sorted I can re-add them.

Edit: OzzyMan’s Youtube version is back up- yay!

Which videos got it right? Anyone out there making good Game of Thrones reviews that I have not come across yet? Would you like me to stick the HBO aftershow in these for your convenience? Please leave suggestions in comments! Thanks for reading and have a great week.

  1. Shame to see Ozzy Man’s not among here. I know his was taken down from YT (unfairly, not even by HBO), but it’s on his site.

Edit – that is in no way shade to WOTW or this post or its author, not at all. Just annoyed he’s facing these takedowns. Videos look great though!

  2. Ozzy man all day!!!!
and awesome to See what the flick, love their Game of Thrones Reviews 🙂

  3. Thanks for gathering these. I’ve been surfing YouTube and have found some really great ones but I’m always looking for more good quality recaps.

  4. I would certainly add Alt Shift X, who is doing analytic recaps of each episode now, and Ozzy Man too.

  5. Ugh, What the Flick’s Ben’s smugness towards people who are passionate towards ASOIAF is so irritating sometimes. And when he makes fun of John I. for knowing House Martell’s words, like that’s THE MOST obscure piece of trivia about GoT. Whenever someone dares to correct him when he’s butchering his description of the story, he’s always all, “yeah yeah, whatever, you big nerds, I don’t really care about details….” Okay, then why do you even participate in the review? Why would you be involved if you didn’t give a shit? Sorry, he bugs. Maybe he’s good elsewhere, and I’m most def too sensitive about GoT, but it bugs me.

Ozzy Man is always good times. His “Hardhome” review still makes me laugh until I cry.

  6. We always have OzzyMan- he was the one with copyright problems this week.

I found his backup copy though and added that to the post.

  7. I love What the Flick?!’s reviews, but I really hope Cenk comes back soon. He really added a lot of energy to them.

  8. Not exactly a recap, but the AV Club is doing its “Polite Fight” feature this year for GoT. They focus on the cinematography and visual/technical aspects and how it relates to the storytelling (and have covered the second seasons of Fargo and Better Call Saul so far, certainly two of the most visually striking shows out there). So everyone even remotely interested in that kind of stuff should definitely check it out:

    http://www.avclub.com/video/how-game-thrones-expertly-edited-fight-scenes-stir-235908

Any reason you kicked AfterBuzz off the list? No Autumn this week, sadly, but still solid.

Anyone knows what happened to the recap show over at the site that shall not be named? Did they just let that die unceremoniously after last season or what? Other than the stupid cocktails, it was pretty decent.

  9. Still don’t understand the Dorne scene. They hyped up Areo Hotah’s fighting ability when he said that him vs. Jamie (w/ two hands) would’ve been a good fight. They also foreshadowed a future fight involving him when Doran told him he may need to use his axe again. It doesn’t make sense that he would then die to a girl half his size using a tiny knife to stab him in the back. They should have had him fall down to his knees after the stab, hit the Sand Snake away with the butt of the axe (seeing that they want to keep all of them alive for now) then have him go and kill most of the Dornish guards before falling. That way they could’ve showed his fighting ability before going down in the same way with Barristan’s exit last season. If you’re going to hype up a character as a fighter, then you should show him fighting.

A poison dagger to the back will drop anybody.

  11. For multi-person reviews, I thought What the Flick was very good. They had a good mix of the guy who doesn’t really know much about the story (the guy on the left) -for some reasons several of the multi-person ones have that type and this one was the least annoying of those in that category, the guy who really knows it and can speak well on it (the middle guy) and another guy who knows his stuff and can give and take with the 2nd guy (the guy on the right in this one). Only problem I had was the guy on the right either had his mike too far away or he was speaking low or something – I couldn’t always hear him.

For single person reviews I like the Emergency Awesome guy – a good blend of sincerity, confidence and knowledge of the show with a tad of “geeze, I hope people don’t think I’m a nerd” nervousness. Another one I like is the SmokeScreen guy. Definitely a different persona for a Game of Thrones reviewer but he knows his stuff and I find his recap/review well done.

  12. Conan Troutman:

Any reason you kicked AfterBuzz off the list? No Autumn this week, sadly, but still solid.

Oh yeah, AfterBuzz! Somehow, I missed that they weren’t on here! Yeah, they’re fun too!

  13. *Cool-ass guitar music intro*
“We open on Jonnooo, fackin’ dead as a doornaaail”.

It’s so good to have Ozzy’s GoT reviews back in my life 🙂

  14. Slightly Biased Wizards Fan,

I really do think they were just trying to fix/erase it. While I would have preferred Areo just killing Ellaria and the snakes and then sitting down beside Doran to wait out the rest of the series… They probably decided to go with the tested killers who would prefer women rulers instead of “weak men” in case someone wants them to support Dany?
I know, I’m reaching. No clue. I miss Oberyn.

  15. I heard Ozzy got hit with copyright infringement because he had the epizode playing in the background.

  16. I also thought Alt Shift X did a solid review. It has some speculation/spoilers, but I enjoy hearing about the different theories people have (assuming they support their theories with things from the show or books).

I tried watching What the Flick but I couldn’t get past Ben M. seemingly having no clue what is going on in GoT. I am a fan of Cenk & TYT, but the start of that review was unbearable. Cenk adds a lot of energy and funny commentary.

Ellaria is a million times more interesting then Hotah . They made the right choice.

  18. I watched What The Flick as soon as it was up, my # 1 video review. Missed Cenk this week, though. Also, watched Alt Shift X for the first time, and found him very good.

Conan Troutman: Any reason you kicked AfterBuzz off the list? No Autumn this week, sadly, but still solid.

I watched theirs. I really missed Autumn. Without her, it just didn’t take off, for me.

  19. Slightly Biased Wizards Fan,

    Jack Bauer 24,

The HBO synopsis for the episode on the official Viewer’s Guide also confirmed that Tyene stabbed Areo in the spine, not just the back (God, that’s brutal). She effectively paralyzed him, which is why he dropped so quickly.

It doesn’t matter how big, strong, or skilled you are. If someone severs your spinal cord, you go down. Assuming her blade was also poisoned, that would do it for him. He may not have died immediately, but just lain there in shock while his Prince was slain, unable to move, until the poison kicked in. Again, brutal.

    http://www.gameofthrones.com/game-of-thrones/season-6/episode-1

Whether or not Hotah should have been caught off so guard is another matter, and I was admittedly sad that we never got to see him truly fight anyone (though I’m fine with the decision to kill him, Doran, and Trystane off). But I guess I always just assumed that Tyene had indeed paralyzed him with that strike, because I never thought it was odd that he dropped straight to the ground.

  20. Connor:
    Jack Bauer 24,

Its bullshit unfair use on Youtube, HBO didnt even take it down i dont think.

For example people are copyrighting whenever they please just because they got mentioned for about 11 seconds, its stupid.

    Where’s the fair use?

    Here’s OzzyMans tweet; https://twitter.com/OzzyManReviews/status/725315389668888577

Lol that was good. I’ve admittedly only seen one of his videos before, but I’ll probably watch the rest of his Season 6 stuff.

  21. Aside from What the Flick? and Ozzy, during the week after each episode airs I usually visit Sawyer7mage, Emergency Awsome, Dragons on the Wall (they’ve changed the name several times but I always find them through IGN GoT Reviews), AfterBuzz and ThinkHeroPro.

Flicks and the City used to have fun reviews and really good long interviews with cast members, but they stopped doing episode recaps.

Liked Sandrine and Americ this time and will give a try to schoesknow next episode.

I really disliked Red Team Review. Honestly I don’t give a rat’s ass about what he would’ve done where he the show runner. Luckily, he’s not. I don’t care that about other people’s rants about a TV show.

  22. Jared,

I guess that explains it then. I found it really unlikely that a guy that big cold be taken down by such a small dagger in the back, but that explanation actually makes sense. And Tyene is a snake, after all – small, but fast, and knows exactly where to strike to do the most damage.

I DO wish we could have seen him fight just once though…

  23. One thing that I found funny is that some reviewers are doubting that Melissandre can bring Jon back, just because she’s so broken.

When she spoke to Thoros of Myr he told her that right when he was lowest in “faith points” he was able to resurrect Beric Dondarion. Well, she’s pretty much in the same spot right now, and by the looks of her life experience… she can make it happen!

  24. In terms of recaps …

What the Flick remains my go-to. Ben, Jon, and Matt Atchity are all great. Opinion on Cenk seems to be split, but I like him a lot (his all-out enthusiasm is what drew me to those reviews in the first place). And while Ana Kasparian doesn’t show up every week, she’s always funny when she does.

While I’m sad that Andy Greenwald isn’t doing written reviews anymore, I really enjoyed him, Chris Ryan, Mallory Rubin, and Jason Concepcion on the official HBO recap show After the Thrones (spiritual successor to Watch the Thrones). HBO put the first episode up on the Game of Thrones YouTube channel for free, presumably so people could sample it. Otherwise, it’s on HBO Go and HBO Now.

Some people may get turned off by the banter and hardcore book readers may get frustrated because the show is designed to cater to all audiences, but I find it very inclusive, light-hearted, and fun – and pretty well-informed discussion between genuine fans of the show (as one would hope from the official recap). I’m somewhat biased in that I’ve been listening to Chris and Andy’s podcasts for four years, but I think they’re excellent.

Like several people have already expressed, I really like AfterBuzz TV. I discovered them last year and enjoyed them a great deal – mostly because the panel is almost entirely Unsullied (except for the host, who spoils nothing). At a certain point last year (guess when), listening to book readers started to grate on my nerves, so I went looking specifically for Unsullied recaps. These guys are generally all very enthusiastic about the show (especially Autumn, who wasn’t in this particular review).

Fair warning – if you’re one of those people who gets annoyed when the recappers don’t always pronounce certain names correctly, you may get frustrated. That doesn’t bother me, but YMMV.

  25. Post Show Recaps with Rob Cesternino and Josh Wigler does a pretty thorough breakdown of the episode immediately after it airs (I listen to this as a podcast, but they have a YouTube channel as well) They’re both pretty well-versed with the show. Being a “Post Show Recap”, it does feature more straight recapping and reactions than deep in-depth analysis. They also host a feedback show later in the week (podcast only).

Post Show Recaps also does a Book Club recap featuring Sullied hosts Josh Wigler and Terri Schwartz from IGN that I quite like (Terri’s great – the GOO crew has had her on their show before). That one hasn’t been posted yet, unfortunately.

Terri also hosts Dragons on the Wall at IGN with Eric Goldman.

The Collider Video recap that BigMac linked to is new, and the first episode was good. It’s a mostly Unsullied panel, and pretty enthusiastic.

  26. What the flick is hands down the best video review roundtable out there. Jon is a true book expert without the smugness and teases the right amount of info without full on spoilers. Not sure why all the hate on Ben. He clearly has watched everything (just isn’t as detail oriented) but his character and plot analyses are great and I find him very funny. The other guy is solid as well. I look at him as the play by play to Ben’s color analyst. I do miss Cenk. He has great energy. After watching what the flick for so long, attempting to watch HBOs after the thrones was like trying to watch network TV shows after being introduced to HBO.

  27. I’ve never seen OzzyMan videos but seeing others are raving about him, I think I’ll give it a try.

As others already said, Alt Shift X is awesome and I highly recommend his videos. I love the dry humor and snark he infuses in his videos.

Can’t stand Red Team Review. He sounds like a total “Bro” who’s a little too full of himself. And I don’t think he follows filming spoilers closely because his speculations are way off base and once he gets going it ruins the rest of the video. He’s a little to ‘Preston Jacobs’ for me.

  28. BunBunStark,

fully agree on your points supporting Ozzyman and Alt+Shift+X and disliking RedTeamReview.
I also think Andy Greenwald is a little too full of himself while not knowing anything. They better just have the two experts: Mallory and Jason discuss the episode and leave out the two others.

  29. GeekFurious,

100% agree… I swear if i hear him say Jedi one more time im going to puke. RED TEAM is solid as they come. And waiting on Prestons Melt down on Dorne.

  30. Finally got around to listening to OzzyMan. That was great! It’s nice to hear him so upbeat again – he got a little too salty for my taste in the back half of Season 5 (justifiably so, perhaps, but since I really loved most of Season 5, I’ll admit it rubbed me the wrong way). But all that’s water under the bridge – when he’s happy and on his game, there’s no one funnier. It certainly sounds like he’s back in good form (pending whatever silly copyrights issues are currently plaguing him, of course).

Alt Shift X is excellent. You can tell that guy puts a lot of work into his videos. It was impressive how much he covered in only seven minutes.

What the hell? A couple more.

One of the hosts from Collider, Dennis (who works alongside the guys from Schmoes Know) also reviews GoT on his personal channel ThinkHeroPro. His guests are mostly Unsullied. One of the regular contributors, David Griffin (not on this week), has read the books, but he’s pretty agnostic on them when it comes to the show (which for me, is a plus).

Finally, Emmighty Sofia was a nice discovery last year (yet another Unsullied recapper). This one’s a solo review, which I usually don’t listen to, as I prefer the discussion format. But her enthusiastic attitude is infectious. I haven’t listened to her full review of the season premiere yet, but she seems to be in her usual positive form.

  31. Blind Wave is a Youtube channel that does weekly live reaction videos with a short discussion afterwards. They’re very digestible, entertaining, and they’re all hugely enthusiastic about the series and investigating some of the smallest details
    https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL6nVTBxW49HljLcU_6vK4QjNLrYvYq1a7

The Normies is another good channel that has been regularly doing both live reactions (with a large and diverse group of GoT fans) and group discussions afterwards (usually in separate videos).
    https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbv2OBLeYiYe7B6WgPDnLow/videos

  32. You may notice that I keep mentioning enthusiasm in these suggestions. That, above all else, is what makes for a good Game of Thrones recap in my opinion (in addition to good insights, chemistry between the members on the panel, etc.) Analysis is good. Substantive criticism is good. But I’m supremely disinterested in listening to people nitpick for more than say, 30 seconds. As for extended rants, potentially flavored with vitriol? I’m not listening to that for one second longer than the time it takes me to close my browser window.

The danger with certain solo reviews is that there’s no one to check the host if they slide into constant editorializing and “If I were writing the story, I would have done it this way”. That gets old quickly too. Red Team Review has fallen into that trap for me. I don’t care how you would have written it, buddy. I like the show just fine as it is. And no, cutting Grey Worm and Missandei’s love story would not have given you enough screentime to fit in the entire Iron Islands subplot into Season 5.

And of course, any review that devolves into exhaustive comparisons and criticisms of the show relative to the books loses my interest, fast. That may be other people’s cup of tea, but it is most definitely not mine. I’ve read the books. I’ve watched the show. I can make my own value judgments about whether or not certain divergences from the novels are “good”. More importantly, I can separate the two when necessary. Preston Jacobs and his worship of crackpot tinfoil? Hard pass. And needless to say, the “reviews” of Those Who Shall Not Be Named are pretty much the antithesis of the style I look for.

  33. Slightly Biased Wizards Fan:
Still don’t understand the Dorne scene. They hyped up Areo Hotah’s fighting ability when he said that him vs. Jamie (w/ two hands) would’ve been a good fight. They also foreshadowed a future fight involving him when Doran told him he may need to use his axe again. It doesn’t make sense that he would then die to a girl half his size using a tiny knife to stab him in the back.

A tiny knife that probably was poisoned, as it was established last season, when she poisoned Bronn, that the girl learned on or two things from her father.

Plus, I would think that if knives are her weapons of choice, given her height and built, it would not be very wise to engage in long combats with anyone, but rather learn where to strike effectively. Just saying.

  34. Screen Junkies have also started doing Game of Thrones recaps. I haven’t watched their recap of this episode yet, but they also did full-season recaps for the 5 previous seasons, and I watched the first one, and am in the middle of the second. So far, I think they’re pretty solid. The panel is mostly (if not entirely) Sullied, but they don’t reference the books much – in fact, they’ve decided that each person can only say “in the books” once per video.

    http://www.screenjunkies.com/video/watching-thrones-s6-e1-the-red-woman-3015701

  35. Gay of thrones is consistently good.

Enjoyed Sadrine & Americ but WTF are their accents? French?

After the Thrones obviously can’t be posted but I think it’s worth mentioning. Andy Greenwald was my fave vid recap last year and this is the same but slightly higher production values. He is such a goofball and loves the show…

In podcasts I’m listening to James Hibbards new cast in addition to GOO. They are giving away s5 blurays!

  36. GoT Academy is my current fav. Both are book readers (but not book fanatics) and funny:

    SourceFedNERD

    Collider

  37. Queenofthrones,

First episode of After the Thrones is online now for you to check out, via Youtube, Facebook, and HBO.com. The free episode will be taken down on May 23rd.

  38. GeekFurious: If solid now means “the most annoying human being on the entire planet, even more than Donald Trump,” then I agree.

You know, I have seen some of the other things you have said on here and just shook my head and decided not to engage, but really? You, sir, are just not nice.

And that’s offensive on this site where so many people are. More offensive than people who don’t use spoiler tags or who try and post leaks. I am sorry you never learned that rule where if you don’t have anything nice to say you shouldn’t say anything at all, but I will repeat it for you just the same.

  39. Jared,

100% with you on all your points.

Respect is also very important for me. I can’t stand reviewers that try to impose on us what they want or imagine, those who think they would be great screenwriters, directors or producers and then go for hours talking about a small character from the books the shouldn’t been cut; and those who think they are so clever they can pick all the faults and errors in a fantasy show.

On the other hand, I love reviewers that take the time to try to understand what the events in the episode may mean in the long run, and/or who try to unearth underlying topics that unite many or all storylines. To me it’s fascinating what people interpret, digest, refine.

  40. Sue the Fury,

if you are talking about the one directly below this line,

‘Edit: OzzyMan has a backup copy elsewhere. Let’s give this a whirl-‘

i tried that. i click on it and nothing happens. maybe i’m clicking on the wrong picture?
i’m killing time by watching all his older reviews. love every one of them.
    thanks for answering.

  41. Connor:
Alt Shift X? His was great. Ozzy Mans was good too.

Yep, both very good. Alt Shift X for the more in-depth serious recap and Ozzy Mans for the hilariously comical version… I rolled up 😀

I’ll probably get ‘drummed out’ of WotW for posting this link, but for some light entertainment, nip over to – http://www.westeros.org/GoT/Episodes/Entry/The_Red_Woman/Spoilers/#Extras

To get Linda’s super critical recap and general complaints and whinging of how bad the show runners are doing things. 🙂

  42. Phil the issues guy does awesome live recaps/reviews right after the episode airs & is very interactive with the live chat to hear others opinions, comments, etc. It’s definitely worth it to check it out!

  43. I thought Collider was another multi-person recap/review that was well done. The host Dennis did a good job introducing topics, shepherding the conversation and keeping things flowing. The guy sitting all the way on the left was obviously very enthusiastic about the story and it came across well. The lady sitting right next him was also very knowledgeable about the show and made some insightful points. To be honest, I didn’t find the lady sitting all the way to the right added much to the conversation, other than she was very pretty and pleasant.

  44. Is there enough time in a week to watch all the recap shows and read all the recap articles from all over the Internet? Seven hells. I used to try in the first couple of seasons, but this is ridiculous, and there really is no point.

  45. Does anyone have a clue as to how many recap shows are out there for GOT? Being new to this site (less than a year into it) I’m new to all the recaps going on. I have to admit I’m a little over whelmed by how many were posted here. I had no idea there were soooooooo many. Anyone got an idea of how many there are? Just curious.

  46. spacechampion:

We posted almost simontaneously about the same thing. I am like you. I don’t even know how ppl watch so many recaps. I barely have time to read these posts.

  47. ‘if you are talking about the one directly below this line,

‘Edit: OzzyMan has a backup copy elsewhere. Let’s give this a whirl-‘

i tried that. i click on it and nothing happens. maybe i’m clicking on the wrong picture?’

ok. i right clicked on the picture, found the source and copied the url. got to vidme, and the video is on a permanent and rapid loading loop, occasionally going to a totally black screen.
oh well, maybe some other time. : (

  48. some say the blood pool under jon’s body looks like a dragon, bit looks more like a stag to me. Thinking the R in R+L=J is more likely Robert Baratheon. There was an episode where Ned says they seed is strong because al of Roberts bastards have black hair. So John could be the last Baratheon and the heir to the throne.

  49. Cathair:
Shame to see Ozzy Man’s not among here. I know his was taken down from YT (unfairly, not even by HBO), but it’s on his site.

Yeah how can you not have Ozzyman up here

Surprised it was taken down, he was in fine form too, hit the ground running this season

    “Fire at the Yacht Club”

  50. Alt Shift X is really good as well, perhaps my favourite, he has great succinctness and graphical presentation

Preston Jacobs was quite funny as well though show watchers may be irritated,

I can see both sides of the coin, I enjoyed the episode and the show but it is impossible to adapt the books so good to have a laugh at the lack of ability for the show to be as immersive, so I enjoy them both for what they are

  51. Ice Spider:
Does anyone have a clue as to how many recap shows are out there for GOT? Being new to this site (less than a year into it) I’m new to all the recaps going on. I have to admit I’m a little over whelmed by how many were posted here. I had no idea there were soooooooo many. Anyone got an idea of how many there are? Just curious.

Right? I knew there were a lot of them, but wow – I guess if you watch 4-5 a day it helps pass the time between Sundays 🙂

I tried to watch a few this time, or I should say listened to – as watching people talk is boring – so I hit play and reduce to the background. Many of these I’ve never heard of but thought I would click on a few since they are so conveniently grouped here and I have the time 🙂

HappyCool – They were okay, what I expected to hear, mostly just a recap. They didn’t forget anyone, so that is a plus.

What the Flik – I’ve seen this one before and generally like it – a tad long, but generally covers everything and actually manages to have an adult conversation about it – which is a nice change from the norm.

Gay of thrones – very funny and I like how it helps keep things in perspective – we take this stuff too seriously sometimes, it is nice to take a step back and see the fun comical side – love the nicknames he gives everyone too.

schmoesknow – I actually didn’t like the nicknames they gave, lol – two bros giving recap/opinions. Nothing interesting for me.

RedTeam – I never heard of this one, but since so many people hated it I gave it a try – It seemed pretty standard fare to me. Do people hate it because he gets critical a few times? He was over all positive, and hearing different view points makes listening to these less of a broken record sometimes.

OzzyMan – Funny recap, like the production quality too – actually watched this one as he used video clips – it adds to the recap. I like that he saved his opinions and feelings for the end, he doesn’t really ramble on about theories or speculation, so nothing really groundbreaking – but a nice sum up with the overall theme.

  52. Emergency Awesome, he is a great source of GOT knowledge and my go to YouTuber for Westersos info and theories.

  53. Lucy,

i am not 100% certain, but i do not believe lyanna cared very much for or about robert. so i don’t see him being the r in r+l=j.
i, too, thought i saw a dragon in the blood the first time i saw it. but the second time i realized it was just blood frozen into slush that had been smeared when they picked him up and there is no discernible pattern there. on a side note: the blood pattern is quite different from season 5.10 than it is from 6.01. in 5.10 there was a huge puddle of blood above his left shoulder that became a small thin streak in 6.01. freezing would have expanded it, not shrunk it.
ah, well. just my own little problems with continuity i guess. like varys saying mhysa meant mother in valyrian. but wait, dany speaks valyrian and she did not know this word. it’s not valyrian. it’s ghiscari, as messandei explained to her. i hate that i’m so nit-picky sometimes.

This would be the heroic death Areo deserves… BUT: Isn’t this exactly what wie love GoT for? Or writers like Cormac McCarthy? They show us life, even if they do over the top action stories or, in GoT’s case, fantasy. Low down, true – and thrilling. You have this legendary fighter, almost unbeatable. But, as a matter of fact, nobody is unabeatable. He dies a totally banal death by the hand of a young woman with a poisoned dagger, in the moment he – and we – expect it the least. No guard, no chance, he’s down, before he realizes it. And you have this really smart ruler, one of the few, we suspect to have this grande gameplan. Well maybe he had – but before he is able to get it going and surprise everybody, he’s killed by some revengeful, stupid woman who went crazy over the death of her lover. Well, that’s it – maybe smart Hillary loses to moron Trump, maybe I don’t get my promotion because of some bs-talking kid who deceives the CEOs with his shallow creativeness, maybe Aron Rogers again doesn’t win the Super Bowl. It’s not always the best who win – only in boring movies and TV shows they do. A lot of times, the “good guys” lose, and this gets even more to us, when they do it in an unheroic, pathetic way… I love this 😉
By the way, do you guys see a parallel between Jon Snow and Doran? Both had very good plans (well, at least we assume Doran did too), and both were assassinated, by some miserable people BECAUSE they failed to communicate their plans.

  55. Jared,

Cenk is the only reason I watch What a flick.

I was sad not to see him. I don’t really find the others that interesting…

  56. Sarah Francos:
Emergency Awesome, he is a great source of GOT knowledge and my go to YouTuber for Westersos info and theories.

    Sarah Francos,

You must be joking, that guy is wrong half the time predicting things from trailers, which show he doesnt know very well the lore, and he just copy/paste a few of the most well known theories in the fandom and focus on the laziest parts of it.

  57. People are saying that Drogon is burning shit down in episode 4.. like wtf xD how do they know that ?

  58. I have to admit that I didn’t realise that the panelists of TYT, Cenk, Ana and Jon were such big fans of GoT. And Jon actually knows his stuff, holy crap! Even Ben, I found him to be a very good Unsullied panel member. Matt was great too.

On the other hand, Red Team Review came across as childish but I can accept other opinions despite some of his logic making no sense. Besides his rant on Dorne, his analysis was pretty good. Preston Jacobs on the other hand, well, lets just say I’m 100% sure none of his tinfoil bullcrap is ever going to happen so he shouldn’t even consider himself to even be fit to lace D&D’s boots.

  59. Hey fellow watchers!

During the memory lanes (especially around the red wedding) someone here put a link for a youtube channel with GOT reviews hosted by a guy (book reader) while another guy watched game of thrones for the first time this off-season. We could see his reactions when live watching and then they would review it together with the host/book reader providing some enlightenment. I really enjoyed them but I failed to subscribed to their channel and cannot find it now.

I got the feeling they were continuing into season 6 with live watchs/reviews, since they had a video hyping about the trailers for S6. Can anyone of you superfans help me in my quest? Thanks!

  60. Ayman,

I don’t really like Read Team. To much book circle jerk.

    Agreed on Preston.

None of those theories will happen.

”The Dornish master plan” doesn’t exist. Just like there is no ”grand Northern conspiracy”. It’s just made up nonsense.

  61. Emergency Awesome is also good.

He isn’t always on point and not all his predictions come true but he is very balanced.

He did read the books, but his reviews are very moderate and in no way is he a purist.
    I like his energy.

  62. Like I said What A Flick, is quite good but I did miss Cenk.

It’s made of book readers and show watchers and no one is crazy..like other reviewers..

Ben sometimes goes a bit, but not that much and is usually quite good.

But nothing compares to that moment in S5 EP4, were Cenk realizes about R+L=J by himself. It was just gold.

  63. Jared,

You and i are exactly the same Jared in the way we think about stuff except for the fact that you’re a lot more talkative than i am which is fantastic. I love and respect you immeasurably my friend.

  64. Blind Wave is awesome. One of the few reaction channels I actually watch (their GoT content is gold).

  65. I don’t like Red Team Review. I don’t think that he is a book purist, I just think that he is not as smart as he thinks he is. His opinions often doesn’t make sense at all and he is very inconsistent and very unreasonable. He thinks that the show would have one more season if they didn’t cut LSH, Coldhands and Arrianne? Makes no sense at all.

I mean how you can give 3,5/5 for S4 and then 4/5 for S5? In which parallel universe is S5 better than S4?

And he has so many stupid theories. Daario as Harpy?!

  66. mau:
I don’t like Red Team Review. I don’t think that he is a book purist, I just think that he is not as smart as he thinks he is. His opinions often doesn’t make sense at all and he is very inconsistent and very unreasonable.

Say what you want, Red Team Review recognizes genius when he sees it.

  67. Aethar,

In the books it is the only time the term ‘Oathbreaker’ is really used. By Arthur Dayne at the TOJ referring to Jaime killing the mad-king.

  68. OT: When Dany recites her titles, she says “Queen of the Andals and the Rhoynar and The first men”

    What is Rhoynar?

  69. Ozzyman is always a must. I’m also enjoying the Blind Wave crew. They tend to take their time, but Val on Because Geek does some of the very best GoT vids & partners up with Chris of SmokeScreen.

I’d also say that as well as publishing a page of review links, a page of reaction links would also be good, starting with Sean L & his Burlington Bar reactions.

    (YouTube channel names in bold)

  70. Deesensfan,

This is a very weird thing.

    It means the Dornish.
The Rhoynar where people from Essos, who lived near the river Rhoyne, Tyrion and Jorah sailed on it a bit I believe in S5.
It’s the river that flows trough Volantis

They fled from there when the Valyrians started expending and settled in Dorne. Check the ”History and Lore” from S5, the entire thing is on Youtube, it has more info.

Now in the the books, every king has that title, even Robert, but in the show they didn’t add it to him. I think they where still uncertain at that point if they will do Dorne.
But as far as I remember Dany always had that title..

It’s a bit weird, I admit. I think they initially removed it, because they didn’t intend to do Dorne…but well things have changed since then..

  71. Goodbye House Martell.

Houses Baratheon, Martell gone. Tyrell is next with loras being killed.

Soon it will be the Game of Vaginas.

  72. Ice Spider: We posted almost simontaneously about the same thing. I am like you. I don’t even know how ppl watch so many recaps. I barely have time to read these posts.

Since I am retired now, I spend pretty much the whole week watching GoT video recaps/reviews and reaction videos, and listening to way too many podcasts. So basically I have no life for 10 weeks. 🙂

BTW, my favorite audio podcast is “demon monkey podcast”. They are two unsullied guys who do a great job of analysis and speculation, without the whiny complaining that some book readers get into to.

  73. Mihnea,

Oh wow interesting. Its actually the first time I notice it?

so they are the people dorne but they originate from valariya.

Yeah I have been meaning to watch histories and lore I haven’t seen any of them. I will do that after season 6 ends.

  74. Deesensfan,

I remember them saying something, like they didn’t want to add the ”rhoynar” to the title because it would confuse people as Dorne doesn’t really do anything until way, way later in the story…
It’s clear that at this point they didn’t plan everything ahead. I remember them saying that they planned until the RW initially. Then they had that talk with Martin because there where no books.
It would fit, because it’s from S4 onwards we hear the ”rhoynar” being added to Dany’s tittles.

Let’s not get into the entire thing. Not all Dornish are Rhoynar and so on.. I truly reccomand the Lore videos, they have absolutly nothing that could be a spoiler for S6.

It’s clearly a minor inconsistancy. The way I go around it, until we get some more info, I pretend it’s a old Targaryan tittle, after all they where the ones to bring Dorne into the realm, that Robert didn’t take.

  75. Stark Loyalist: Soon it will be the Game of Vaginas.

Good. I find vaginas quite enjoyable myself, don’t you? More relevantly, I enjoy the characters these vaginas are attached to in this series. What’s the problem here? Do you fear the evil feminists taking over your show? That’s why you boil down all these complex and interesting characters to their genitals?

  76. Mihnea,

Interesting.. thank you for clarifying 🙂
It still confusing because they never explained the Rhoynar IN the show. But I guess we are meant to watch these histories and lore to understand all the small details.

I was saving them till after season 6 so I can have some thing game of thrones to watch Hahah

  77. Mihnea: Let’s not get into the entire thing. Not all Dornish are Rhoynar and so on.. I truly reccomand the Lore videos, they have absolutly nothing that could be a spoiler for S6.

Agreed – I really enjoyed the one about Nymeria’s founding of Dorne in particular. The Freaking Rhoynar fought a Valyrian army with THREE HUNDRED DRAGONS WHAAAAA???

I also think the ending of the vid helps us understand waht happened in Dorne in e1. The interpretation is basically she just married Martell to make peace then promptly took over all authority. “Dorne will no longer be ruled by Weak Men.” is almost an exact echo of what’s said at the end of the vid about The People of Dorne knowing who wielded true power in Dorne (Nymeria and her daughter, not the multiple men she had as consorts).

Now finally, Martell is out of the picture and I’m sure that Elliaria and the snakes view themselves as Nymeria’s “true heirs”. Not that they are actually anything but murderous warmongering assholes…

I’m sure all of this was in awoiaf too but it’s much cooler to see it, especially written from the first person perspective. Plus I just can’t bring myself to read something written by Lindaaaa and thereby line her pockets further. 🙂

  78. Luka Nieto,

Imo it’s a valid critic, there’s a lot of women we root for now and sometimes it feels it’s not because of organic storytelling but just because it’s popular to be all about girl power. And when somebody speaks about it, the white knights appear :/

  79. queenofthrones,

The book has only couple of interesting parts.

The Targaryan family history is good. Some various parts as well. The Nymeria part, some Northern stuff.

But it’s way to thick, way to many characters, it tries far to hard to make every character in history important and unique that it turns them in a joke…

    Elmo Tully…LOL.

The history videos do a good job at building the world, giving it a bit more character, but also keeping people interesed.

  80. tkk,

God forbid women have their own power fantasies. The term “Mary Sue” is thrown around the minute a woman does stuff competently and is a badass. We, men, meanwhile, have Batman. And a thousand other characters like that.

As for Game of Thrones in particular, I don’t know what you could be refering to. Then again, some people get pissed every time Brienne is able to kill a man… because of course she wouldn’t be able to beat the Hound, even though he was wounded! Oh please…

Anyway, I don’t expect to convince you. The fact that you used the term ‘White Knight’ unironically tells me so much already.

  81. tkk,

People need to make up their minds.

D&D are either sexist, rape apologists or they cater to ”crazy feminists” with bullshit like ”girl power”.

Because obviously it can’t be both…

  82. Deesensfan,

If you haven’t watched the previous history and lore videos then you are in luck!

You have 5 houres of pure backstory, history and lore!

  83. Mihnea: People need to make up their minds. D&D are either sexist, rape apologists or they cater to ”crazy feminists” with bullshit like ”girl power”. Because obviously it can’t be both…

Is that a fair argument? Different people have different opinions, after all. D&D and Game of Thrones have critics from both sides. Personally, I think they could learn something from some of their feminist critics. However, could they learn anything relevant from these supposedly manly men who get offended every time a competent woman outstages a man, despite the fact that their main point always is that feminists get offended to easily? No, from them I’d say they shouldn’t learn much. Except an absurdly easy target for a good laugh.

  84. GhostCR,

    Totally agree.

    Mihnea,

Cenk’s reaction to the Red Wedding is an all-timer, as is his legendary (but good-natured) hatred for Joffrey and the moment where he figures out R+L = J on his own, as you mentioned. Dude also loves Varys, which is awesome. The Spider doesn’t get enough respect.

I hope that he just had a scheduling conflict (he does run TYT, after all) and will be back on the panel next week. I’d be sad if he only did solo ‘My Take’ reviews from now on, though I’d listen to them, of course.

    Daughter of Winter,

That’s so kind of you! I love and respect you as a member of this community as well. And as always, I hope you’ll speak up when you feel you have something to say. 🙂

  85. Mihnea: But it’s quite hard to go from ”they like rape” to ”stupid girl power”..

Not really, if they’re criticizing different scenes, which they usually are. MRA types were like “what’s the big deal” about Sansa’s rape, while they are up in arms every time a woman such as Brienne defeats a man in some way or another, deriding these moments as vapid attempts at “girl power”. The opposite is usually the case from more sensible folk (though, I’ll grant you, a few people seem to willingly misrepresent that controversial scene to make it much more problematic than it actually is).

A work of art, especially one as long as a TV series, can have different shades and treatments of a lot of subjects. A TV show can be broadly described as feminist-friendly but still have a few notable problematic elements (which I’d say is the case for Game of Thrones).

  86. Luka Nieto,

I don’t have a problem with it but I can easily see how people might have, not even sure if it’s justified or not. But the white knight thing is exactly what happens when people talk about it, or anything similiar in todays world.

  87. Just adding another vote for including Alt Shift X’s videos. He does great work on GoT and ASOIAF stuff.

Also, a down vote for Emergency Awesome. The guy is so spoiler-phobic, it reaches a ridiculous point. Honestly, give a spoiler warning at the front, and if they keep watching its on them. He also gets details wrong routinely. Not a big fan.

  88. Luka Nieto: As for Game of Thrones in particular, I don’t know what you could be refering to. Then again, some people get pissed every time Brienne is able to kill a man… because of course she wouldn’t be able to beat the Hound, even though he was wounded! Oh please…

Even before the Show, dudebros were doing this wrt Brienne. It was always “She’s low tier, she’d NEVER beat Jaime if he wasn’t weak from being in prison”. Yet conveniently forgetting that Brienne had to hold back because she wouldn’t want to even injure Jaime – just disarm him, whereas Jaime was fighting to kill.

Now show Brienne is more of a killer/badass but she is quite a bit older and more experienced so I personally think it works.

  89. Chuck,

Emergency awesome is terrible… I am sorry, but 50% of his analysis is dead wrong… And the high five thing…. gimme a break.
Alt Shift X is by far my fav

  90. Mihnea,

Thanks – I was under the impression a lot of it was annoying fanwankery and sounds like that’s the case.

I read some of the excerpts about Tywin and Aerys reign, which were pretty interesting. It’s fun to hear about how these legendary characters were when younger – kinda like the flashbacks in Harry Potter. :p

  91. queenofthrones,

    Very much agreed 🙂

Brienne always gets shit on from a certain section of the fandom. A section I very much don’t want to associate with. Not only because they are insufferble sexists who are usually not even aware of it, but also because I don’t want to drown in their sinking ship of 19th century values.

tkk: But the white knight thing is exactly what happens when people talk about it, or anything similiar in todays world.

No, it doesn’t. I’m sorry to burst your bubble, but the so-called white knight accusation is just a way for some men to justify their retrograde values by suggesting that those men who defend the women’s position are not doing so because of their own believes but because they want to get laid… which is of course the only reason these retrogrades would do such a thing, so they assume everyone else is like them. Well… that’s just not the case. I’m happily in a relationship and even if I wasn’t I wouldn’t try to get laid in a Game of Thrones online community. Also, I don’t need any validation from the women in the community. I said what I said because that’s what I believe. The “white knight” accusation is nothing but a shield to deflect the accuser’s backwards values, because they can’t even consider (or don’t want to consider) that other men genuinely agree with women on these issues.

  92. queenofthrones,

I don’t like the author, I made myself clear many times on this subject.

    But I’m honest.
Some parts are good. The Targaryan family history is the best by far. Then there is some good stuff here and there.

But there is also a lot of pointless stuff, sometimes even outright bad.

All in all, if you just watch the history and lore videos, you should be perfectly fine.

  93. tkk: It doesn’t necessarily mean you, but somebody always does it and even if that wasn’t their motive, it happens, but whatever

If that wasn’t their motive, it means they are stating their own opinions, which happen to agree with the women in the discussion, so they’re not acting as “white knights” to anybody, except perhaps to their own ideals and beliefs.

Mind you, I’m sure there are a few insecure teenagers who do this sort of thing, but by and large I cannot imagine how that would be the case, considering how often the “white knight” accusation is thrown around online. It’s been thrown at me and people I know often enough, and it has never been true to the best of my knowledge. You could consider that perhaps these people agree with the women not because they seek their validation, adoration or love but because they just agree with them. Scary thought, I know!

Mihnea: Some parts are good. The Targaryan family history is the best by far.

So the part that GRRM wrote almost single-handedly, then? Wasn’t that the case? Isn’t the other stuff that has the most gaps filled-in by Elio and Linda?

  94. Mihnea,

Nonsense. D&D are cruel gods. They contain multitudes! They oppress all fans of Game of Thrones and ASOIAF equally. Well, except for poor, helpless GRRM. He is the Reek to their Ramsay. And you, dear viewer. No matter who you are, you can be certain that those two otherwise equal-opportunity monsters are making all of their creative choices with the express and deliberate intent of pissing you off to the greatest extent possible. 😉

All joking aside, Luka Nieto‘s right. I totally agree with everything he’s said so far.

  95. After the Thrones was a hot mess. I don’t see a reason to include it.

Both the hosts seemed like they didn’t know WHAT was going on, including knowing who some of the secondary characters even WERE (Dolorous Edd) and the guy with the glasses continuously pronouncing the characters names wrong-once he even asked “Did I say that right?”(no. no you didn’t) as well as not knowing that Prince Doran was in fact NOT Ellaria’s brother.
HBO should have put a bit more thought into this and got some people who were actually better fans and not just going through the motions.

  96. Black Raven,

Wow, that was good for a laugh!

I see she’s (Lindaaa) still bent out of shape about the Inside the Episode comments they make that suggest something on the show originates from GRRM.

It takes a profound and crippling idiocy to not only watch Season 6 and expect to not be spoiled, but to also watch the totally avoidable Inside the Episode segments which are likely to spell it out for her.

Oh and on topic, I’d like to second the support I saw for Because Geek’s YT channel. She does great work, and I thought her analysis of the first trailer was spot on. I don’t know if she’ll be doing episode reviews, though.

  97. Lady Mychelle,

    Haha you’re hilarious.

Guess what – people can be fans of a show and mispronounce or forget names. Also they obvs knew who Edd was – they even pointed out a quote of his from FOUR SEASONS ago. They are joking about how in a show as big as thrones, it’s pretty likely that most people are gonna be like “who the F was that??”

You know what I can’t stand? Recaps (not to mention comments) where it’s just a bunch of smug book readers thinking they are so smart because they read a book once in their life and memorized a bunch of useless trivia. Actually it’s even worse when it’s some did read the books and some who didn’t, and the book people just CANNOT STOP themselves from “correcting” the people who just watch the show. The weakest part of After the Thrones was when they brought on the “experts” – was better when it was just Greenwald and the other guy

  98. Ozzy Man all the way. Loved him in the past and love him now.

Gay of Thrones is for comedic relief and he gives it in spades. I wish I could remember the fake names he gives to the characters, but they make me laugh every time. Little Kristen Stewart for Arya, Christine Aguleria for Daenerys. The Kardashians for the Sand Snakes. Mia Farrow formerly Old Cher for Cersie and I can’t recall the others, but I find it clever and fun to watch.

I know that Axey is going to come and box my ears….but Sadrine without Axey…it just isn’t working for me. Sorry.

I started on What the Flick and had to turn it off. *shudders*

(does this thread also have to be a re-hash of Dorne? It is happening in every thread it seems. I opened this to listen to the video recaps, not read more of the same.)

Missing Lady She Dragon. Hope you weren’t run off!! ((hugs)) *waves* to The Queen – Nymeria Warrior and Aryamad and Madre de Lulu.

  99. queenofthrones:

Agreed. I wanted to point out what you did, that they obviously knew who Edd was. They were just making the point he is a relatively minor character in a show with a cast of almost thirty major characters, so casual show watchers would be forgiven for not knowing who he is.

  100. Post show recaps
Oh and at about the 5th video of emergency awesome I wanted to gouge my eyes out

  101. I was entertained by After the Thrones, because I like that Greenwald is interested in the actual story and does not obsess over every little detail like some reviewers – mostly book readers- who thusly can’t see the forest for the trees. That’s also why I didn’t necessarily need the “expert”.

Same with What the Flick. I’m interested in how people like Cenk or Ben who don’t normally like fantasy, but who know politics, experience the show than Jon Iadarola who is a bit too hung up on the books for my taste. Because more often than not, book readers feel somehow that they know the true story, so they feel the need to educate everyone how it should have been instead of talking about what’s actually happening on screen and the story that is presented on TV.

  102. Wyllie,

I watched about 5 minutes of what the flick and then gave up because Jon is the classic case of that. Stop it – no one cares!!

    Luka Nieto,

Not to mention it’s the first episode of the series after a 10 month hiatus! I’d struggle to remember the names of major characters after that time if I was one of those who fully engage with the show but only when it’s on. Which is the kind of fan I am of every other show.

Heck my husband & parents have read the books as they came out, but they don’t know all the minor and major characters – lots of “hey it’s that one guy”. I wouldn’t call them casual fans though – they just aren’t weirdo superfans like us that derp around the internet for 10 months between seasons… 🙂

  103. Ice Spider: We posted almost simontaneously about the same thing. I am like you. I don’t even know how ppl watch so many recaps. I barely have time to read these posts.

I agree – With all these video recaps its just become overwhelming. I’m content just to read the recaps from the team on WotW and Jared down in the comments, the videos from Alt Shift X and Ozzyman (for a bit of amusement 🙂 and leave it at that.

Perhaps its my age (I’m a year older than GRRM and retired) but these ‘nerdy/geeky’ video reviews with ‘guys and gals’ who think they’re ‘so cool’ in front of a camera just fucking piss me off!

Sue, any chance of adding Alt Shift X’s link to the video recap pages for the upcoming episodes? Just saves a bit of time rooting around on the web looking for them 😉

  104. Being ‘across the pond’ I watched THRONECAST on Monday night. That’s always good for a bit of light entertainment. The guest actor was Mark Addy who played King Robert Baratheon way back in Season 1… A great guy and actor.

However, its just beats me why yet again they had Jonathan Ross on as the ‘super fan’ guest. He’s a grossly overpaid presenter on UK TV and perhaps not so well known Stateside.

The guy is an arrogant dickhead. Full of his own piss and important. He thinks his remarks and gestures are funny, but for me that geezer is fucking puerile… I cringe whenever I have the misfortune to see him on TV.

I sincerely hope they don’t invite that moron as a fan guest on the show again over the next 9 weeks 🙁

  105. I enjoy Calluna’s videos, and it looks like she’s started doing GOT episode recaps. She’s done a couple of GOT-related videos before (though mainly concentrated on the books), but this is her first time doing actual episode breakdowns. I haven’t watched it yet, so I don’t know whether it’s good or not (though, as I said, I like her other videos). To be honest, I am a little hesitant to do so, as I know she wasn’t a fan of the whole “Sansa marrying Ramsay” thing, and as such, I’m wary of her feelings towards… other changes. I hope she isn’t TOO critical, and doesn’t draw TOO many book comparisons…

  106. Chymeria,

I think you are thinking about Sci-Fi Christian. I liked their reviews too, until they decided to be hipsters and make the videos more about them stopping to light their stupid pipes every thirty seconds.

  107. Ser Hunts Reviews on YouTube is pretty good! Also Because Geek and SmokeScreen, I am Mark (Ser Hunts) but check out my channel if you have time lol

  108. I love Charlie with Emergency Awesome. I like how he compares the book plot to the show without getting into to spoilers, and he does give-a-ways. Though sometimes he does miss some details or remember things wrong but hey we can all make mistakes from time to time.

  109. GhostCR: A tiny knife that probably was poisoned, as it was established last season, when she poisoned Bronn, that the girl learned on or two things from her father.

Plus, I would think that if knives are her weapons of choice, given her height and built, it would not be very wise to engage in long combats with anyone, but rather learn where to strike effectively.Just saying.

I’m not saying that Areo should have fought the Sand Snake, I don’t think anyone wants a fight involving the Sand Snakes. I thought they should have had Areo be wounded by the stab, but not killed. They then could have had him kill most or all of the Dornish guards who were just standing there before having him fall. It would’ve made the scene more interesting. Also, the poison logic doesn’t make any sense because Bronn was poisoned last season and it didn’t affect him until much later.

  110. …well, we kinda’ know how the Wight creatures are made: Craster’s babies are converted into Wights. But, who was the very first Wight creature?

I had a feeling that Mel was laying down to die. Being that old, the potions must be keeping her alive, not just young. If she neglects to take the potion and goes to sleep, she could die in her sleep.

After her plan ‘A’ tanked(Stannis), she didn’t hesistate for a second. Mel rode straight for Castle Black without so much as a ‘see ya later’. Then she arrives there only to discover that her plan ‘B’ has died. This is Mel’s final blow! I can see her deciding to give up at that point.

  111. Duelling ‘feminists’ –

    Sansa: “I take this man..”

Daeny: “I will not lay with you, motherf*ucker, or have your big-headed baby.” ….or something like that.

I know who I like better.

  112. Re Jon… If Brienne didn’t kill Stannis, that would make her an oathbreaker.

..and Ramsay totally lied to his father about Stannis being dead. Ramsay has no idea if Stannis is dead. None of his soldiers reported killing Stannis, or retrieved his body. From the menacing way Roose asked about Stannis and said he’d reward the man who dealt the blow, I feel he was toying with Ramsey, as usual.

I thought it was highly unusual for Ramsey and army to leave the battlefield without the enemy commander, dead or alive. In a battle, that’s priority number one!

Anyway, it will be yet another reason for Roose to put his foot up Ramsay’s butt. And, at some point, Ramsey will understand that Roose has been using him the whole time, and never intends to accept him as his son, certainly not while Roose expects a true-born heir. Ramsay may wait till that baby is born, and if it’s a boy, he’ll kill it…or he may not wait to see. He may just kill them all.
