Game of Thrones filming in Dubrovnik, Croatia continues today in preparation for the fifth season of the show.

The production team is holding back no expense, as we have seen from the vast number of images shared by various sites and collected here over the past few days. Today, filming moved to the Jesuit Staircase in the Old City, a popular tourist destination.

As the staircase lies at one end of a narrow street, security seems to be tighter than in days previous, but some lucky fans have still managed to snap some shots. Could it be that the staircase is representing the steps up to the Great Sept of Baelor, or something else entirely?

The carriage below seems to be the focus of today’s scene. Who/what do you think is involved? It’s different than Joffrey’s one in season 3, and does seem to have some sort of floral design on the shrouds… Margaery?

Some fans chanced across Lena Headey during her downtime.

What seem to be separate transports for Cersei and Tommen were also spotted. The impenetrable designs could be an indication of Cersei’s growing paranoia after the deaths of Joffrey and Tywin.

Here’s a some shots taken from the steps, overlooking Gundulić Square.

More pictures will be added when we have them!

  1. Wow that last carriage looks like a medieval police van. If thats Tommens ride, you wonder if he is king or prisoner or both.

  2. Thanks for the links, everyone!

    aurane waters,

Hmm, the design of that carriage seems to be different than Tommen’s above… if it even is Tommen’s. Also, I’m doubtful of the guillotine actually being a prop, given the random plants surrounding it.

I was about to type exactly this when I saw your comment! I was looking at the doors. First instagram opened door design has a different bottom part. But both look Lannisters / Baratheon. Could be one for Tommen, one for Margery.

  4. Balerion The Cat,

I see I made a mess of my first comment! The first instagram open carriage one yes, it is Margery’s no doubt.

My previous comment was referring to the last two instagrams. The closed ones. The doors & the design are different. Which makes your point a perfectly valid one: they are most likely for Cersei and Tommen.

  5. jentario,

Do you think this Chris McCormick guy is an actor? Most of his tweets are about football, though of course he could just be an actor who tweets about football a lot.

  6. Those stairs will definitely be used for the start of you-know-who’s walk. It’d make for gorgeous scenery when they’re descending down. I hope they just CGI the entrance of the Sept at the top.

Also I like the observation about Tommen’s carriage. It’s covered in spikes and bars and really gives off a vibe of paranoia and somebody who REEEALLY needs to be protected.
This is all lookin’ bangin’ so far.

  7. The presence of the King’s, his mother’s, and his betrothed’s litter accompanied by Tyrell and Lannister/Baratheon sigil laden banners lining the street, my first thought was Tommen and Margaery’s wedding… at least en route to the sept.
