Thank you Game of Thrones, the giveaway

Happy Thursday everyone, it’s nice to say hi again during what’s remained (between the action overseas/recent release of TWOIAF) an exciting offseason. We’re very proud of the staggeringly triumphant community you’ve built here together, these are happy times.

If you’ll allow me a moment — please feast your eyes upon this arts and crafts project I created today using a spare bit of paper, dragoned coasters, and a golden sharpie. If you’ve been keeping up with the podcast, it’s relevancy is clear. If not, read on and learn more about the pile of Thrones goodies we’re slowly giving away. The mound is waning, but there is still time.

Valar morghulis… All men must die- but it looks like at least some of the major Thrones characters will survive through to the seventh (and potentially final) season of the HBO show.

THR is reporting that HBO has renegotiated several contracts to include the option for the seventh season of the show, many of which include “huge raises” that will “make the cast members among the highest paid on cable TV.”

Spoilers after the jump where we list which actors have the potential to make it to the final season of the show.

Press Roundup: Preparation in Northern Ireland, Spain wrapping up, and other GoT news

The ball is definitely rolling in Northern Ireland while things are wrapping up in Spain.  At the top is a photo of Shane’s Castle where the Antrim Observer noticed some GoT preparation. From Osuna, Juego de Tronos posted a photo looking into the bull ring where we see many costumed extras.

More news and photos after the cut–maybe some mild spoilers.

The North Remembers: October 2011

  • Raven LogoAxechucker (then better know as Fire and Blood, or FaBio for short) and I reported from the first TitanCon in Belfast, dedicated to celebrating season one of Game of Thrones and teasing season two hints out of the actors present. Oh, and lots of merrymaking, too.
  • The shoot in Dubrovnik was still going on, and we got hints of an expanded Qarth storyline for season two. We learned that the primary Iceland shooting location would be the Vatnajökull glacier area.
  • Casting decisions were still being made and announced, most notable we got Rose Leslie as our Ygritte in October. Also, Simon Armstrong was cast as Halfhand, John Stahl as Rickard Karstark, and Nicholas Blane as the Spice King.
  • The winners of S1 awards you guys voted for were announced, and Natalia Tena as one of them thanked our Game of Thrones community in a video message. Miltos Yerolemou did that at TitanCon itself. Speaking of awesome!
  • Also, this teaser came out.

Looking Forward Game of Thrones S5, Part 1: A Blind Attempt at Leading the Blind

lhlfcfigpy9mtnbqxr8qWelcome and glad tidings from the new and improved home of all-things Thrones, the Watchers on the Wall.

If you are new to our fanatical escapist plot of internet property, then thank you for joining us. We have constructed this monstrosity so that you may find even more enjoyment out of your Game of Guilty Pleasures.

This one’s name is Oz and I have the somewhat inglorious prestige of being one of the only Unsullied (non-book reader) contributors for this fine site of GoT extremists.

After the cut, I will attempt to somewhat loosely explain what this series typically entails and will do my best to get it jumpstarted. With only five more months or so before the premiere of Season 5, there is little time to waste.

Scan your WotW fast pass, and let’s ride…

Filming of various locations for Game of Thrones season 5 has been well-documented so far, giving us insight into King’s Landing, Meereen, Dorne and beyond. However, we now have clarification on the exclusion of one particular area/plotline: the Iron Islands.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the Iron Islands subplot as realised in A Feast for Crows will be omitted from season 5.

While the Dorne-based subplot will be in season five, producers have previously indicated the Iron Islands subplot has been omitted.

Future plot spoilers below the cut.

Doubles in Osuna: New images from Daznak’s Pit

EXCLUSIVE: 'Game of Thrones' Filming

The photos for Daznak’s Pit being shot in Osuna are coming in hot and fast.  We posted some images on  Sunday, Oct 19th in “New photos of Game of Thrones filming in Osuna’s bullring but without clear facial shots it was hard to determine if they were actually Emilia Clarke as Dany and her retinue.  However, WotW can now confirm that they were indeed doubles. The slideshow after the cut shows their faces so it is finally clear.  This is in contrast to our post from yesterday, which showed the real actors on a review stand watching fighting below.

Clearly the Daznak Pit scene will be important and large in scope as they are taking the time to make some long shots with doubles and crowds, medium shots and close-up reaction shots with the real actors, multi-person fight scenes and, as noted before, a massive green screen.  It has all the right ingredients to become an iconic scene for the show.

MAJOR SPOILERS after the cut!
