HBO has released several new photos from the fifth episode of Game of Thrones season 6. The episode, which will be called “The Door,” is Jack Bender’s first outing as director for the show. The episode preview is teasing exciting moments in the North and beyond the Wall, and an intriguing new Red priestess meeting with the leaders of Meereen.
Official episode synopsis: Tyrion seeks a strange ally. Bran learns a great deal. Brienne goes on a mission. Arya is given a chance to prove herself.

The new priestess Kinvara, played by Israeli actress Ania Bukstein:
Fans have observed throughout the pre-season this year that the Night’s King looks a little different in season 6. Based on the credits listed for this photo , courtesy of HBO, it seems they were right. The Night’s King is credited as being played by Vladimir Furdik, a stunt performer who played the White Walker that Jon crossed swords with at Hardhome and did stunt work for the Tower of Joy scene this year.
Littlefinger is having a tense moment with Sansa, as glimpsed in the preview video. Will the Knights of the Vale be enough of a gift for her to overlook his actions last year?

Another vision of Bran’s, since he’s standing. Looking at the greenery and the stones, they’re the same as the ones in the photo of Leaf and the Children of the Forest up above. That would confirm the theory that the image of the CotF is of them in many years past, with Bran witnessing it. Perhaps we’re getting some back story in this episode on how the Children came to be largely wiped out/driven into hiding, or something about a connection to White Walkers since we’re seeing the Night’s King as well this week?
And Tyrion and Varys continue to look like they’re not having a swell time in Meereen.

Some posters analyzing it Reddit determined that the Littlefinger/Sansa meeting is at the Mole’s Town brothel, last seen being sacked by the Wildlings in 408. The photo here of Sansa and Brienne is most likely in Castle Black, though.

The way she’s been interviewed, it seems like a one off character. Does that fot with all the filming leaks?
I’m beginning to think that this episode and the next one are going to do something the show hasn’t really done since S1E1, which is cover a great deal of time in the episode. There are several plots right now where sooner or later not much needs to be shown but a lot of time needs to pass. For instance,
– Dany needs to get the Dothraki to wherever they will eventually get on boats.
– The Tyrells need to gather their army and get it inside Kings Landing
– Jon and Sansa (yay!!!) need to gather the Wildlings, rally the loyal North, and prep for the showdown with Ramsay
-Sam needs to get to Horn Hill and then get to Oldtown
That’s a lot of ground to cover, and I could easily see a montage or two to show that passage of time. Its also the only way I could understand how Littlefinger is going to be in Castle Black this week after being in the Vale last week. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if this episode ends up covering a month, or more.
Leaf looks like she wants to beat some ass in that picture of the CotF crouching but the rest seem pleasant enough at that moment. I wonder the context? It doesn’t appear to be cold/snowy where they are, so I’m guessing it’s a flashback?
CotF are still weirding me out. My bet is the vision with the night’s king is in the future.

Castle Black. The first photo matches Jon’s photo. Brienne and Sansa are looking at Jon who seems to be telling them what their next steps will be. Sansa looks kinda happy/admiring while Brienne, who knows more about violence and war, is a bit more skeptical. Or I’m writing my own fan fiction.
I hope Sansa is still at the Wall there, it looks like she’s in the same hall with Jon but the pic with LF looks nothing like CB..
I hope we don’t see Sansa and Jon split up this soon. I want as many scenes as possible with them. They are amazing together.

All the sources still say the same actor from previous seasons will play Night’s King in this season. So it is likely the Night’s King Bran sees is a different one from the past.

In the leaked script of Kinvara she says she will summon other people to help spread the word, maybe that’s where the other actress appears. That photo of CotF makes me very anxious. I can see already another surprising episode this sunday.

Conjecture, maybe Jon is telling them that the Umbers and Karstarks have joined the Boltons, which would make their task even more difficult than they had previously believed. In particular, perhaps the suspicion that Umber handed over Rickon.

When you have LF in the Vale and then suddenly at the wall in the very next ep I do think it helps ground the situation by briefly mentioning a time skip, maybe say 2 weeks have passed since the letter. I’m willing to assume time has passed if they don’t and it’s not a huge deal but it does help keep you immersed.
Hope so! Two things I want this season is to see some WW communication and to see the NK in action.

The Children of the Forest appear to be standing in the same Stonehenge-like ring of stones that the Night’s King took Craster’s baby son to in Season 4’s “Oathkeeper”.
….theorizing going on now that the Children may have created the White Walkers themselves, when even the Hammer of the Waters wasn’t enough to stop the First Men from conquering Westeros, but they worked too well and later turned on them.

I think we will see KL and we should definitely see Sam. This is the midpoint of the season and Sam’s story has to start progressing. We have Horn Hill and the Citadel to go.

I also want to watch Sansa and Jon rallying the North together to fight that monster. I’m waiting for a scene with Jon, Sansa, Davos, Mel, Brienne, Tormund and Pod making plans. Unfortunately, there is evidence Brienne will go to the Riverlands. The group will separate.
I’m worried Sansa will be too upset and proud to accept Littlefinger’s help, which would be a huge political mistake under the circumstances. I hope she shows she is smarter than that. We know Littlefinger will be involved but I hope it’s since the beginning.
I guessed that they were facing each other not based on the map (that is impossible), but based on how they both seemed to be facing someone. Of course they could all be looking at a third person (say Baelish), but the look on Sansa’s face suggests she is looking at Jon (someone she trusts).
They are planning the next moves, like who will go where to recruit which houses etc. Does not work well if they are all on same side of the table.
IMO, the background is as helpless as the map to say which side of the table.

They have no idea where Arya could be so I dont think theres much they can do about her. Brienne’s mission has got to be some rallying. Trailer’s already given away that she’ll meet House Tully (could it be cos of Catelyn’s connection) and Davos will secure House Mormont…Jon’s secured the wildlings but I dont know who else he can inspire just yet…Sansa’s already got LF coming for her…
I dont think there’s much great stuff to see in the North as we have done so far (except anguish from any Ramsay-Rickon interactions) until the Battle.
I like Dany’s new attire! Her belt with oval bronze(?) plates is like a miniature version of Drogo’s belt
I noticed that they were all ladies but hadn’t made the mental jump to all the White Walkers being male.
The easiest solution to this would’ve been for the LF scene to be in episode 2 or 3, which were much shorter episodes. This would’ve balanced out the episode times and made his journey less of an issue to some.

I agree. I think the “great deal” that Bran learns about is about the CoTF and the WW. I think the children are responsible for the WW somehow.
We saw that they were guarding the cave when Bran and company first arrive.

Also, they’re all on the same side of the table, based on how the light is reflecting on their faces (it’s all on their right side). Who knows who is opposite them at that table.

Right. I am not confident of either Ramsay or Littlefinger’s current mindset towards their “alliance.” Neither views the other as trustworthy (imo). To me, LF’s route depends on if he’s trying to go north stealthy (via ship) or right under Ramsay’s nose (KR).
This goes back to my desire to find out the route LF will take to reach Sansa as it will give insight into the current state of his relationship with Ramsay and by extension his motives towards Sansa.

The most intriguing picture so far is of the CotF. Is it past or present, and what is happening? Is the title also a reference to a door to the past? Kinvara looks mysterious and great! Looking forward to some more Red Priests/Priestesses! I hope Daenerys is also ready to walk out through the “door” to Vaes Dothrak with the gigantic Horse Statue with many of the Dosh Khaleen, who never thought they would get out of there!
I get the feeling Jon, Sansa, Brienne, Podrik, Davos, and Tormund are plotting strategy and determining who will go where. They don’t have the time for all of them to go to the same places together, so they have to split up.
We know from the trailer that Davos goes to Bear Island. Maybe Deepwood Motte as well?
We also know from the trailer that Brienne and Pod go to Riverrun. Maybe their job is to rescue Edmure and Brynden and/or to rally the Riverlords (after all, Sansa and her full siblings are heirs to Riverrun).
Perhaps Sansa goes to rally the Vale.

This is the from another trailer for this season, and to me this one is much smaller than Vladimir Furdik. The neck and upper body makes it appear that this Vladimir Furdik is much bigger and more muscular than whoever this other guy is. I don’t think the other guy is Richard Brake though either to be honest.

I think that Petyr will show up and offer the Vale army as penance for leaving Sansa to Ramsey, I think Sansa will struggle with it,, she might have a powerful monologue where she might tell Petyr exactly what Ramsey did to her. Brienne will council that Baelish needs to get his head kicked in by Wun Wun, and Jon, though he’s angry at Baelish, will council restraint and working with LF for now because they need the Vale army to help them take out Ramsey.

If, the Tullys use male-preference primogeniture, then Hoster Tully’s children go before Hoster’s siblings but males are preferred. So all sons of Hoster (and their subsequent children), in order from oldest to youngest would go before all daughters of Hoster (and their children), ranked from oldest to youngest.
Edmure was the only son, so he goes first. Any children of his would come next, sons before daughters. Catelyn was the oldest daughter, so she and her line comes next. Then Lysa and her child.
So, the Stark children would be heir presumptive, not heir apparent, meaning they could be displaced if Edmure has any trueborn children.
So the line of Tully succession would have been, at the start of the show: Edmure, Catelyn, Robb, Bran, Rickon, Sansa, Arya, Lysa, Robin, Brynden.
In the scene that Brienne and Sansa is meeting with Littlefinger, Brienne is wearing her blue armor. But in the photo posted above, Brienne is not wearing armor. Probably the LF/Sansa meeting happens after Sansa and Jon part ways, and Sansa outside Castle Black (hence the armor on Brienne). Maybe LF runs into Brienne and Sansa like Brienne keeps running into the Stark sisters.

What I would rather know about are his travels like how did he get there (horse or boat) and where did he go or what did he see? That is information that is worth noting. I think Brienne just took her armour off. She’s indoors, sitting comfortably with no prospect of combat and in front of a fire. I don’t see Jon leaving Sansa at any point this season (he even said so)

I do think so, too, as the huge curveball for Samwell´s plans this season will be that the Tarlys won´t be staying in Hornhill as Mace/Olenna call for arms. Sam will then be in the conflict of leaving Gilly in a fortress without many remaining defenders plus he would again be an oathbreaker for promising her that she could stay with his family while in reality she would have to stay in an empty castle. At least that´s a guess.

Hmmm… The children of the forest have VERY very similar eyes, as the white walkers – especially the nights king. Only green instead of blue.
The Children of the Forrest are looking more and more like the members of a unusually wild sorority house the morning after a really really wild Arbor Day party.
So, this is the episode where there will be that scene from the trailer, the WW attacking Bran’s Cave.

While I subscribe to that to almost a hundred percent, I do believe that going to a secluded place that can only be reached by ship (such as Bear Island) will not be the best solution for rallying the North, especially when troops have to be transported from there. And even if the forces do not actively gather on bear Island, it would still make more sense to spread the word of a Stark-claim on the North from the land, somewhere relatively central in the North. A place on land would make more sense, plus Deepwood Motte has already been mentioned in this season. Maybe they will go there and meet the Glovers? Maege Mormont might be there, too, without it being too much of a stretch, they may always find a reason for that.
Or did I miss something and Bear Island is already hinted at? Which may be very very possible 😉
I have no idea where they are going to meet. But the place they meet to rally the north doesn’t have to be a staging location for armies and troops. Heck, I think Churchill and Roosevelt met in all kinds of places.

We had some foreshadowing of the Mormonts unwavering loyalty to House Stark last season, and there were Mormont banners in one of the promo shots of Sansa in a Northern castle setting…that’s what makes me think it’s Bear Island. Although I do see how logistically difficult that is. It doesn’t really matter where she goes I suppose, as they can establish the Great Northern Alliance fairly quickly.
No need to be so slightly cranky, I´m aware that they could could meet anywhere, I wanted to express why it maybe isn´t Bear Island based on what I knew at this point and nothing more. Except you were trying to emulate a bit of Dolorous Edd, then I salute you for staying so much in character.

There was very little to see in all honesty, in fact there was an ongoing debate it was Winterfell because of the chandeliers (that clearly didn’t match WF). I think someone posted a brighter pic though that showed the Mormont banners, but then it’s equally possible that it’s another Northern stronghold with many banners hanging in the same hall.

I also don’t really want many updates of Ramsay and Rickon. I don’t want to see on-screen torture of Rickon. If we check in with Ramsay, hopefully it will only be to see him and Karstark organizing a battle plan, or receiving word that the Manderly’s have pledged support (so that it sets up Wyman switching his allegiance to the Starks in episode 6 or 7).
More like invisibility. Time is a bit vague, and one could plausibly imagine a few week’s between episodes. But how he makes his way through long distances of not-very-LF-friendly territory is more questionable. Obviously he isn’t going to land a White Harbor and march right through Bolton/Umber territory. So he lands by Eastwatch, I guess? That’s not very safe, either.
Of course, Sansa and Co waltzed right through Umber territory as well, so maybe it isn’t that hard.

Sansa is still wearing her WF clothes, which is logical, as CB would not have a ladies’ boutique. Am I the only one dying to see the black Stark embroidered dress of the trailers, its design, length, cut, etc? I guess I would have to wait until she reached Bear Island, as there would be the only place to have the material and where she would be able to sew and embroider it herself.

I thought about that. Littlefinger *could* reach Eastwatch (and parts thereabout) in under a week from Runestone, with a good wind. Of course, I have no idea where he is actually meeting Sansa, or how much time the showrunners are positing to have passed when they do – or for that matter, exactly when the scene between Littlefinger, Royce and Robin is supposed to have happened, beyond the fact that it’s after Sansa’s escape from Winterfell (there’s nothing that says an episode’s scenes have to be simultaneous with each other).
But travel by sea for much of the journey could hack the time down to something fairly reasonable – if they’re being reasonable about it.

That is hard to say. Sansa was not initially going to be one of the primary protagonists of the series. However, TV!Sansa has been greatly boosted in prominence and in the rate of character evolution. So, it could be that she is going to be as big (or nearly as big) as Jon, Daeny, Tyrion, Arya and Bran in the end.
That written, she could be the central character of her part of the story and still be “supporting” where the plot is concerned.

I’m hoping Drogon shows up this week. I keep thinking about that comment from the VFX department that the dragons would double in size for season six, obviously more specifically Drogon. The Westeros storylines appear to have only advanced a few days since the season five finale, especially at The Wall. If we are set on the belief that the events in Essos are happening at the same general time it’s hard to think that more than a week or two at most has passed for them. Even if we unlink the timing between the continents it’s pretty impossible to think Daenerys has been gone from Meereen long enough for Drogon to grow very much. I suppose it could be odd to see Drogon suddenly twice as large if we want to nit-pick, but ignoring the time frame it would be pretty sweet.

Interesting theory, and something that I have been thinking too. I read somewhere that Tad Williams was an inspiration for GRRM, and the Memory, Thorn and Sorrow books have this as a theme, with the Sithi and Norns originating as one people who split, with the Sithi essentially ‘the goodies’ and the Norns ‘the baddies’ (not quite that simple but meh) … they also have the main protagonists relying on prophesies in ancient texts that, when they come to pass, are not what they expected, in some cases assisting the enemy. I wonder about the TPTWP prophesies in relation to this…

I was thinking about what Arya’s mission could be, and since it is rumored that the mummer’s troop will be in as many as 3 episodes, what about this… The troop looks like they are performing the ‘Bloody Hand’ from the books with actors playing Ned, Sansa, Cersei, etc. – what if her mission is to kill ‘Ned’ or ‘Sansa’ but she has difficulty with all the family reminders? This leads to conflict with the waif/faceless men?

He really does feel bad putting Sansa in that situation and his heart might soften a bit now to where that ladder isn’t the only thing that matters to him. Every time I see the guy I think of my uncle, there’s an uncanny resemblance. Children of the forest look cool. I can’t tell anything else from the pics. Besides Bran/NK what else are we looking forward to happen in coming episode? Mostly at the wall it’ll be just gearing up to head south. Kit said there’s an episode coming up that’s really big for Jon and it’s “his story” where do you think that will fit in? It seems there’s not enough episodes left to do everything, but obviously they will and be jam packed. Or however you spell that lol.

Re: Littlefinger’s speedy travel time: Did you notice in that scene with Robin and Lord Royce, Littlefinger’s traveling party pulled in pretty speedily – It was just him in that lightweight little travel-trailer coach, plus only a few soldiers surrounding, and they rode in at top speed, I imagine to give the impression that he does indeed move through the kingdom very quickly. So, I believe he could get from place to place much more quickly than a normal traveling party – he doesn’t have an entourage to slow him down.
The Wall has definitely been the best in Season 5 and so far in Season 6. But seasons 1-4 were all about King’s Landing. I found it hard to care much about the other locations (besides Dany in Season 1 when she was by favourite character by far).
In the preview, it showed Meera frantic, trying to awaken Bran. Where’s the TER? Doesn’t he normally pull Bran from those visions? Do you think Bran tried to get back to the TOJ vision by himself and got time-warped into the NK visions or something, almost like having a nightmare? I could skip the stuff in KL for an episode, just to have more time spent with Bran and those visions. Never thought I would be so intrigued by learning the back-story, but I am.
Also, is Euron supposed to show up in this episode? I seem to remember a brief view of a number of ships blowing on the sea. Is that supposed to be his fleet?

Brothers go before daughters though. That’s why Stannis and Renly are ahead of Myrcella (in episode 1.05 Renly tells Loras he is fourth in line, after Joffrey, Tommen and Stannis). So Brynden is ahead of Edmure.
Sansa is one of the primary characters of the story, if any of you can’t see this it’s because you don’t want to. Honestly i can’t see why Arya for example (who is by the way one of my absolute favorites) is more important than her? If Sansa succeed in what she’s trying to do this season then it’s by far bigger than anything Arya might hopefully accomplish.
This season is her overall journey’s pinnacle and her storyline along with jon is the best, if anyone can’t see this the reason is one of these two, you either don’t like this character in general or you’re one of those book readers who disagree with changes from the books.
These are my opinions and i don’t represent them as facts like so many people do (they’re clearly obvious facts to myself but i don’t represent them as such for others).
Also this was the last time i talked about these, because arguing with people who already made up their mind about something is pointless.

Yeah when he used the word epic it made me think of the battle. I just didn’t realize they’d wait till that episode to give us the TOJ revelation, which is what I assume he means regarding his story. But that would actually be an exciting way of doing it, even though it means a longer wait….ugh this season going to be over before we know it. After all the waiting we did it’s flying by! I think what Kit meant by saying “his story” is that he will be the central character in that episode, not that we will get his backstory. I could be wrong, but I don’t think we will get r+l=j in that episode. My best guess for that reveal is ep 6 – Blood of my blood. Or else it will happen in the finale.

Besides, David Benioff himself said in the “Inside the episode” segment of the last episode that Jon and Sansa are two of the most important characters in the story. So yeah, it’s pretty clear how important Sansa is in the show.

I have a question to anyone. Before bed last night I watched the behind scene documentary and noticed something at the TOJ. Right after Ned chopped the head of Arthur Dayne that’s when Lyanna’s scream came from the tower. It sounded like a shriek, not so much a sound of childbirth type but more so a different kind of pain like she was being hurt, or, possibly shock and heartache.
So then I’m thinking what if Arthur Dayne is her lover, that would make sense for that scream, but what doesn’t add up is the fact he doesn’t act like it to Ned. He doesn’t declare his love for sister and assure him she’s OK.
But to continue, is it possible Lyanna committed suicide in a moment of despair? Her father, brother, and now her true love are all dead and on top she probably feels responsible. The way I’ve heard the promise from different text quotes it does seem like there is more than one and that Ned didn’t fulfill one of them and that’s why he has such grief.
Taking the theory here what could it be? I know only RL+J makes the most sense but even some things there don’t add up.

You’re probably right because it really wouldn’t make sense to include that sequence in the big action episode. The focus has to be streamlined for the penultimate Ep to be effectively epic. We will be told sooner than that through Bran, but could it be Jon himself finds out here like right before the battle or after? Like, what if Meera gets a message to her father. The forest fairy (Leaf?) said Bran will need her. Maybe that’s one of the ways she helps. Could Howland Reed and his men join up with the Stark forces? We haven’t heard anything about that house have we?

THIS, David and Dan care so much about Sansa, bringing her to the center of the plot is the most obvious reason ( Stark restoration plot is the most important storyline of the show IMO and Sansa is in the center of it)

Very excited for Jack Bender. People who’ve seen Lost will likely agree that he was that show’s most prominent and successful director (next to J.J. Abrams), and he was already specialising in epic, character-driven moments at the dawn of the golden age of television. GoT seems like a perfect fit for him. I haven’t been this excited since the announcement of Alex “West Wing” Graves.

Yes, I read that too. She said she wouldn’t go along so easily with the plans of Jon and Davos, or something like that. I just hope it doesn’t become a ‘bickerfest’ between the 2 siblings. They just had a sweet reunion! Please don’t let them go from “distant siblings” to “bickering siblings”. Of course, their current situation is dire so the tension is high but I’d like to see them supportive of each other rather than arguing about what to do.
If I may, I am going to explain the Littlefinger travel speed dilema.
Right, Melisandre turned up at Castle Black well after the Battle which got Stannis killed, the storylines were playing out at slightly different times. So Mel up and left, Stannis marched out and got destroyed, Sansa escaped. Sansa joins up with Brienne. They start to travel to Castle Black.
Littlefinger’s spies dispatch the news of Sansa by raven to Littlefinger, who we’ll presume is in the Vale, after KL last season.. he goes to seek Lord Robyn at Runestone.. they agree to gather the vale forces. Littlefinger sets off for Castle Black, goes by boat to White Harbour.
Littlefinger travels with all haste from White Harbour…..Mel arrives at CB after a couple of weeks, Jon is Stabbed. Littlefinger is travelling as fast as he can. Jon is resurrected by Mel, Sansa arrives at CB.
Jon, Sansa and crew plan what to do next for a week or so.. Littlefinger finally arrives at Castle Black.
See… it’s all perfectly reasonable. Anyway…. that is what has happened in my mind!

The image of the COTF with stones in the background…then the image from Bran’s vision of the white walkers surrounding a similar scene with similar stones in a circular pattern with what looks like a dead weirwood tree in the middle…all bring me back to a scene in the 1st episode of season 1 when Ned executes the NW deserter. When they pull back from that scene before they find the direwolves. Stones in a circular pattern around a stump that Ned used to behead the deserter. Same place only many 1000’s of years down the road???
I feel a twist of the plot coming forth that will set the end game in motion.

But certain frequent posters here have told us again and again and again and again that LF has no spies in the North, because (well, I never did figure that out), and that is why he was clueless about Ramsay despite the fact that Ramsay has never hidden his awful behavior. If he did have spies (Book LF certainly would have!), then Ramsay was impossible to miss.
For the record, I don’t think LF’s travels are necessarily a problem time-wise, especially if you allow the show to be asynchronous and assume the Vale seen occurred before the Wall scenes in the last episode by a couple of weeks. I find that this kind of assumption doesn’t work so well on TV compared to the page, but if you go with it, LF has enough time to get to the Wall. The problem is more HOW does he get to the Wall? The North is not safe, especially for him, and marching across leagues of semi-hostile terrain doesn’t sound like a brilliant plan on his part.
Do you really think there will be a door the Others can pass through? Isn’t the Wall warded against that?
And what about all of those horns that have been hung? Isn’t the Wall going to come tumbling down?
And what about the Dany prophecy with the seas drying up? Is that not so the Others can pass around the Wall? My, I have lots of questions.

True, maybe Littlefinger has learned that Ramsay is a bit of a lunatic, flaying enemies, torturing etc, but didn’t completely know or trust the behind closed doors stuff, like Reek. He therefore assumed incorrectly that he wouldn’t dare hurt Sansa in the same way, given her importance and the fact she would be his wife (very different from a Bolton enemy). Even Roose was annoyed about that behavior. His spies never found Arya, so they aren’t reliable in the absolute sense.
Yes the North is partially dangerous for him.. not the Bolton controlled parts though as he has made an alliance with them and they wouldn’t know he has knowledge of Sansa’s escape. I’m sure regular Northern soldiers don’t have a clue what Lord Baelish looks like. I would like to think he’s clever enough to slip through the net somehow. Then again he always rides round with Vale bodyguards which gives it away a bit! Perhaps he has a selection of Northern banners and swaps them over every time he enters a different region of the North. I mean he got away with the plot of killing a Hand of the King and the actual King himself.
I agree with everything you’ve said, and yet in the last episode Sansa seems to be arguing that Jon is the better one to lead the North in fighting for him:

So we found that Mel is really old. Well the latest theory going around the net is we will also have an AMAZING Littlefinger reveal this year. He really is a time traveller much like Bran. This is how he is always able to show up at the right point at the right time. Here is the proof:
* He shows up out of nowhere ALL the time just when it is convenient
* Others tend to overlook him.
* He travels alone frequently
* we have no evidence of him having any spies yet he knows stuff.
* He has a mustache, It is known
* His clothes are always spotless yet he never packs.
* Little Finger. DUH
There is plenty more compelling stuff in the books, I am sure after this post the evidence will PILE up.

LF didn’t knew about Ramsey just like Ned didn’t knew about Roose raping married women and hanging their husbands.
H clearly says so to Ramsey himself: ”I know very little about you”.
At most, he would know he beaten the Ironborn and flayed them….as every Bolton did for thousands of years, just like the Starks would have executed them. Flaying was just Bolton tradition.
Maybe both are true: it’s always darkest before the dawn. Arya will be broken down into No One before she remembers that she is someone, and then she comes back fully to herself.

Theon was public knowledge throughout S4, so LF should have had plenty of time to figure that out by S5. Ramsay’s habit of killing people with hounds is also something that would be impossible to keep secret, as it is loud and done in the open. The real LF would have known what a horror he was and would have never entrusted Sansa to him. TV LF, by all accounts, was just supposed to be stupid on this point. The directors and actors have reiterated this a number of times.
LF is not safe in Ramsay’s north, especially if he appears to be heading towards Castle Black. Ramsay would instantly assume he was up to no good (and be right about it). The only semi-plausible way for LF would be to land at Eastwatch and move along the Wall, but even that is fraught with danger.
In the end, it is largely moot. He will just teleport yet again and no explanation will be given as to how he got there or gets out again.
Also, as for LF not finding Arya, that is actually rather logical. In a world the size of Westeros, chance meetings are a miracle – a miracle that occurs far too often in the show, and to a lesser extent the books. Even if he was looking hard for her, she’d be close to impossible to find.

I know what you are saying though, you have to work hard to explain away LF story sometimes.. constantly showing up at the right time and learning of Sansa’s escape almost immediately but not knowing what kind of a person Ramsay really was. Maybe his lust for power in the North really does out weigh his affection for Sansa. Maybe he believed Sansa would be safer as his wife as Roose would not allow any real harm to come to her.

Maybe. But if the Lannisters had those kinds of soldiers available, they wouldn’t need the Tyrells in the first place to clear out the Faith Militant. On the other hand, the show hasn’t always been great about keeping consistent track of army sizes. So, maybe.
Totally agree…you don’t just have a 700 foot high wall in your story, unless it’s gonna come crashing down at some point.
As for the seas going dry, the “common” theory is that the Dothraki sea was beginning to dry out due to autumn (in the books at least), but I also like the idea of the shivering sea going dry (i.e. freezing over), to allow the WWs to invade.

There’s a whole lot of vagueness around the rules for the Iron Throne, but it’s been stated multiple times in the books that daughters come before uncles in the ordinary succession for noble houses. That’s why, e.g., Cersei is Lady of the Rock rather than Kevan (though I don’t think the show has ever mentioned who the new lord of the Rock is after Tywin died).
I would have trouble focusing on my kingdom ruling and strategy-building mission if Kinvara walked into my temple, regardless of the actual age difference. Fuck Westeros, please glamour me into oblivion, my red priestess!

I want that though! I want the tension. Both Jon and Sansa are coming from totally different places and have experienced totally different things. It would be too neat and clean if Sansa started sprouting strategy and Jon shaking his head “Whatever you say!”. They need to work together but they also have individual strengths and weaknesses that this battle can and probably will expose. Of course, any tension isn’t going to put a divide between them. They just found each other and aren’t going to start hating each other. They can be angry with each other. They can disagree but the build up of taking Winterfell should be just as harried and tense as the battle. I really believe the support won’t waver. They know how lucky they are to have found each other how they did but I think Jon might question Sansa’s judgement, just like she might question Jon’s commitment. After all they have been through, family or no, both are probably scared shitless and that intensity could really feed right up to the start of the battle of the bastards.

I do recall this interview. And more than “strategy” arguments, I think they’re going to argue whether or not it’s “wise” to go to war now and potentially lose a lot of men, when you need those men to fight the White Walkers later. It’ll be a “long term thinking” (prepare for White Walkers instead of fight amongst each other) versus a “short term thinking” (rid the North of House Bolton and reclaim Winterfell).
Both arguments have merit and both arguments are valid. More interestingly, both arguments come from personal and frightening/painful experiences. Jon has seen the White Walkers. He understands the threat and knows they’re all screwed when/if the White Walkers cross over. Similarly, Sansa understands the threat of Ramsay and knows the entire North is screwed anyways, if he remains it’s Warden. If it goes this way…it’ll be an interesting “conflict” to watch.
I’m a fan of Jon convincing the Northerners that he died by him getting naked any time someone asks about it.

That people like Arya’s “badass” personality doesn’t make her anymore of a “main” character than Sansa. And you’re absolutely right in saying that if Sansa/Jon actually succeed in uniting the North and retaking Winterfell, she would have already accomplished far more than Arya has in the entire story.
As a side, what IS Arya’s purpose in the long run if she is a main character? And I don’t ask that question bitterly, I mean it sincerely. If the entirity of her character is built to simply get vengeance and kill people…how is she different than the Sand Snakes who, up to this point, have only served as the vehicle through which other characters get assassinated?
Arya’s endgame intrigues me because its insanely difficult to figure out. I can’t see where she fits in the long run, and endlessly wondering about it has me perplexed.

I totally agree with you. I too want them to discuss, to argue and to compromise, not just meekly accepting the other’s opinion. But I would also like that they do those tings from a place of mutual caring and respect. If it’s like that, then I’m fine with some tension between Sansa and Jon.

THANK you, I’m not the only one who noticed. She shrieks when Dayne is killed, simple as that. Of course, this is TV – and we need a reason for Ned to go up the tower and the scream is perfectly timed to segway into that part of the story.
Question is, why Dayne and Lyanna – and how does this work better than R+L? Maybe to deliver Dawn as a familial sword instead of in the books as it is handled by “who’s worthy, regardless of family”

I remember someone said the actor who plays Young Hodor would be in this episode, but I thought that vision was postponed because of the WW. It will turn out to be very interesting, mark my words.
I can also see this happening, and they already kinda disagreed immediately after their reunion (and I was like “please don’t argue…can’t you just keep hugging?”).
But Sansa and Jon’s experiences over the past few years are so very different, as are their priorities with Sansa’s being family and Jon’s being overall survival of the realm, so it’s easy to see why there will be tension…but as long as they hug afterwards I’m cool with that.

Since the meeting appears to be in Mole’s Town rather than Castle Black, I’m guessing Jon won’t meet him yet.
So from the new photos, it looks like Jorah comes clean to Dany about his greyscale this week (or, more likely, Daario tells her and then Jorah admits it).
Also, I’m moderately surprised to see the Three-Eyed Raven is present during Bran’s second vision of Winterfell and his vision of the Children of the Forest. I had thought that Bran, being immensely frustrated with the way that the Three-Eyed Raven keeps pulling him out of the visions too early, would venture into the Weirwood net alone in search of answers, get stuck “beneath the sea”, and run afoul of the Night’s King. That may still happen – the Three-Eyed Raven is nowhere to be seen when Bran faces the White Walkers’ army – but perhaps it will be two separate trips.
For what it’s worth, I think that Bran’s encounter of the Night’s King is likely to be the final sequence of the episode. It’s possible it could be the Kingsmoot, but I don’t think that the Ironborn storyline is central enough to warrant that placement – yet.
Also, I originally thought that Bran might see the conclusion to the Tower of Joy in this episode. Now, however, I think we’ll only see Lyanna in Winterfell this week – along with Ned, Benjen Hodor, and maybe Old Nan and Rickard as well (there was a character cast who matched Rickard’s description, IIRC). Then perhaps we’ll get the Tower of Joy conclusion in Jack Bender’s second episode next week. I’m inclined to think that while the interior of the Tower of Joy will obviously be a massive reveal, whatever Bran learns about the White Walkers this week would be liable to overshadow it somewhat, particularly if they were immediately juxtaposed. Better to separate them, I think.

That’s what I was thinking as well. But then I remembered that Sansa asked Jon where he would go, and he responded “Where will we go”. So that makes me think that they’ll be sticking together at least for the foreseeable future.
Edit: But Mole’s Town is not far from Castle Black so I guess that line could be insignificant in this case

Mole’s Town isn’t far from the Wall. I imagine it’s just Sansa and Brienne making a day trip to meeting with Littlefinger (having gotten a message from him), not splitting from Jon long-term. They’ll head back to the Wall afterward, and then everybody rides out together at episode’s end (or rather, Jon and co. head off to Mormont country, while Brienne and Podrick ride south).

I’m not so sure that Sansa would leave Jon to venture out to Moles town (even with Brienne in tow), or that he’d even let her out of his sight more to the point. She’s in way too much danger.
My guess is that they all set up camp there with the Wildlings seeing as it’s deserted (or that it was already settled by the Wildlings) and that LF is passing through en-route to Castle Black. But certainly Jon doesn’t need to be in that scene.
I’m thinking Jon Sansa & Brienne are trying to determine which houses they can trust, and need to go to to get help to defeat Ramsay.
I sincerely hope Sansa doesn’t let Littlefinger back into her life. I hope Jon & Sansa don’t agree to let him “help” them with his army. He cannot be trusted at all. Sansa knows this better than anyone and so does Brienne & Pod
If Littlefinger knows their strategy, he can easily sabotage them. He play all sides. She needs to send him on his way, and Sansa needs to deal directly to Lord Royce. If she were able to convince Robbin Aeryn, he might send Littlefinger on a flight through the moon door! LOL! The more I think about it, the best way,IMO, to deal with Littlefinger is to separate him from his army. Sansa can do that.

I think that Bran is alone in the White Walker vision is because the Night King senses him and drags him there and separates them or something. That is my prediction.

It would be disappointing if they do it only to off him in a more tragic way. As for Bran I believe that it might be possible that BR will deliberately expose him to meet the WWs face to face as a kind of punishment for being reculcitrant…

I’m hoping that Sam and Gilly will make it to Horn Hill this week. The fact that they’ve been excluded from the trailer and the promotional photos doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll be absent – Ramsay was absent from both last week, and he wound up being in the episode after all. But if they don’t appear next week, at least we know they’ll definitely be in Episode 6.
In a way, Sam’s thin plot this season makes sense. There really isn’t time enough time left in the series for him to become a maester, so whatever time he spends in Oldtown is likely to be brief (and probably interrupted by an Ironborn attack). Furthermore, his reunion with his family is definitely lower on the show’s priority list, given everything that’s happening in the other storylines. But I’ve been looking forward to meeting the Tarlys ever since that initial casting call, so I hope that they get a reasonable amount of screentime in the second half of the season. Melessa, Talla, and Dickon may be one-offs, but I think Randyll will play a larger role, at least. I remain convinced that his Valyrian steel sword Heartsbane will draw Sam’s attention, given the conversation about the power of Valyrian steel that Jon and Sam had at the end of Season 5.

LF looks genuinely upset but the character is a good actor. Sansa, no matter what he says do not trust him-he’s responsible for everything (Jon Arryn, Ned, Jaime’s escape via Cat wanting her daughters, Tyrell/Lannister merger, Sansa and Tyrion’s marriage, Sansa and Tyrion being framed for murder, Lysa, leaving Sansa with the Boltons without guard or chaperone of any kind to be married to a “man he didn’t know”). Just smile and take his army then when you’re home in Winterfell poison him with a lemon cake…or a dagger.
Also with those 3 pics all together it looks like Daario is making Jorah show Dany his arm. That’s probably not good. Poor Jorah. Wish we knew the cure Stannis found for his daughter right about now.

I was wondering about his stab wounds – they were still there, obviously, and caused him pain (you could see it when he hugged Tormund and Edd) – what’s the deal with them? Was being dead for a bit just a really good cauterizer, and they’ll slowly heal? Because they were damn deep. Hmm.

Wow, Pryce revealed a surprising amount there. We already knew some of what he disclosed from the aired episodes and filming spoilers, but some of that was definitely new intel (perhaps some may have guessed it, but it was never confirmed). They directly asked him what happens in his storyline at the end of Season 6, and he gave them an answer – not in abundantly detailed answer, to be fair, but enough to really set the stage.
It really seems like when the actors speak with non-English speaking media outlets, they’re willing to divulge a bit more than they might otherwise. Kit Harington basically admitted that Game of Thrones would still be a part of his life for several more years when he spoke to a similar outlet last year.

Yeah, it’s generally the older actors who aren’t as committed to maintaining the obsessive veil of secrecy that’s become all too prevalent in the modern spoiler culture. Just ask Ian (“It’s only tits and dragons”) McShane. 😉
No worries on my part – spoilers have never once ruined my enjoyment of any well-crafted story. But fair warning to those who would like to avoid any such reveals. This interview doesn’t give the entire game away, but it’s more detailed than most.

If you love to be surprised only while watching it, I wouldn’t recommend looking. It’s not super revealing, but it outlines an event. Personally, I think it’s a great piece for speculation.
I get the feeling that Jorah is about to get banished for the third and final time. I feel bad for him if that’s what happens, but I can understand Dany not wanting him to expose her newly acquired massive army to greyscale. I also remember that leaked photo from last year where

Those Bran visions look intense and could be full of a lot of information. I’m a bit scared to find out why exactly the CotF’s lush green environment turned into a frozen wasteland overrun with WW and wights. I’m starting to suspect the CotF may have played a hand in creating the WW. I wonder if the 3ER is killed in the WW vision and that’s why Meera is having a hard time waking Bran up. LOL, maybe the Night’s King is like Freddy Kruger.
Sansa looks none to happy with Littlefinger. I know she needs his army to defeat Ramsay but I hope she doesn’t fall for his smooth talking and lies. Her father and mother were fools to trust him and she made the mistake once before in trusting him. Please, don’t let her fall under his spell again. Just use him and lose him, girl. You’ve got your brother and his friends now to keep you safe.
I hope these pictures are an indication that there will be no significant amount of time spent in King’s Landing this episode. I don’t give a shit about Cersei and Co and I would welcome a break from them.

I could be wrong but my recollection of greyscale is that it is fatal to adults – only in some instances have infants been able to beat the disease. So I think Jorah is done, just trying to make himself worth something until it gets too bad.

I think Arya will come upon the theatre troupe and see the play and get the gist of what’s going on in Westeros. Maybe she’ll find out about Sansa, or Jon, and something will snap, and she will want OUT and to go home (not without needle, of course). This is will be met with resisitance, but I have a feeling she’ll at least be in Westeros by the end of the season.
That was what I was thinking. Before the Wall, the CotF were many and lived in a green, lush land. After the Wall, is what we have now.
Maybe Littlefinger has an identical twin… The Prestige style!

I love Jorah but I’m so tired of his character being reduced into a neverending cycle of “look what I got under my sleeve” -scenes. I wish he’d achieve some sort of personal accomplishment before dying so that his greyscale isn’t just an irrelevant side notion in the story. But his death has been dragged on for so long that it needs to happen asap.
I’m very much looking forward to Bran’s scenes. The stones Bran and the raven are walking around in the summery pic is the same we see covered in snow and in the possession of the White Walkers in the episode trailer. Would be so cool if they gave us info on how things came to be.
The stone formation in the Bran & Bloodraven pic (and the CoTF pic) appear to be the same as the ones around the weirdwood tree covered in snow in the NK vision. Some sort of CoTF council, or a place of worship maybe, kind of like that altar thingy the White Walkers had in Season 4?

I’m beginning to think that the WWs were some kind of a mistake made by the COTF in their battle with the first men. Maybe they were created to destroy the first men but became too powerful, which led to the COTF working with the first men to defeat them and then build the wall.
In the picture where Bran and the 3ER are at Winterfell again, Bran looks a bit angry and also seems to be walking like a total badass (kinda reminds me of a White Walker).

No. She flew away on Drogon from Daznak’s Pit and Varys didn’t appear in Mereen until after that.
There are economical ways to convey, visually, that people are traveling long distances: aerial wide shots of traveling parties on the road, for instance (think of that spectacular shot in Fellowship of the Ring when the Nine Walkers are heading from Rivendell to the Pass of Caradhras along the ridgetop). Then you can pull the PoV back and tilt up to show their destination, or the next milestone on their journey, on the far horizon. Doesn’t have to take up more than ten or fifteen seconds of screentime.

In Hungary regarding an online game (Game of Odds) HBO asks 3 questions about the next episode in every week whether they are true or false, maybe it can help to speculate for upcoming event.
For example last week’s questions:
1) Will Sansa reach the Wall?
2) Will Dany become a Dosh Khaleen?
3) Will Theon go back to Ramsay or to the Iron Islands?
Of course some of them can be guessed easily from the next episode’s preview but for episode 5 it is interesting:
1) Will the army of the Vale join to Sansa’s and Jon’s army?
2) Will the truth about Balon’s death will come to light?
3) Will Tyrion’s peacemaking negotiations be succesful with the masters?

I’m thinking also of the Eloi and the Morlocks in The Time Machine, who seem like totally different species, but are both descended from present-day humans with a very large class divide. The time horizon since the Long Night seems long enough for a bit of evolution to have taken place.

The brothels are actually subway stations.
The most economical way is for LF to simply explain the he sailed from Runestone/Gulltown to Eastwatch. Takes a few seconds, but in all honesty I don’t even think they’ll bother mentioning it as 99% of the viewers won’t even question the distance/time. In a similar way nobody will bat an eyelid that the entire Tyrell army will descend upon KL from the reach in less than a few days (which is when Cersei says she is due to face trial, after Maergerys alleged walk of shame).
The geography (by which I mean the rocks in the BG) suggests Jorah, Dany and Daario are having a conversation about Jorah’s greyscale. I hope Dany does not banish Jorah a third time, but sends him away on a mission, which is a polite way of getting him away from her army. I won’t be surprised if Jorah is sent to Westeros, because in the books, the greyscale infected Targaryen supporter is currently in Westeros.
No sign of King’s Landing or Dorne scenes, I am happy for that.
Lot of time-travel visions this episode, it seems. I speculate that Bran and 3ER visit the children, visit Winterfell, but 3EC again pulls Bran away just before something important happens at Winterfell. Bran being an angry teen, tries to see the Winterfell vision by himself, but lacking control, he ends up in the Whitewalker vision.

Regarding Arya, I read on Reddit that Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams had played a game of each saying three statements in an interview a while back, only two of which were correct. Of these, one by Maisie was interesting. She said that Arya was MORE in the original trailer than we realize – presumably courtesy of a different face. I wonder who in the trailer, Arya could impersonate, IF this is one of the true ones.

If so, comparing the background of the two photos, I think Jon could be standing next to Sansa while Davos could be standing on the other side of the table. This would explain why Brienne looks so worried/angry and Sansa looks rather positive.

I’ve been wondering about this as well. One would think that Cersei would have gotten wind of Tyrion’s whereabouts by now, since he’s back in a position of power and visibility, she suspects that he may have fled to Essos (it’s where Westerosi exiles generally flee) and she has her minions scouting everywhere for him. Definitely don’t want to miss her frothing at the mouth when she finds out!
It would be a MAJOR departure from the books to have the Faceless Men assign anyone to kill a person they know. They are consummate professionals and the last thing they want is for an assassin’s personal feelings to complicate doing their duty.
Knowing what a tease Maisie is, she may have simply meant the bloody hand on the wall. Just as I typed the last sentence, I realized that it could be a connection to the play in which she acts in – ‘The Bloody Hand’.

Not sure where I read it, but some eagle-eyed fan picked up on the fact that the six-sided links on Melisandre’s magic necklace look identical to the segments making up Quaithe’s mask – to the point where they look like they were cast from the same mold. My initial reaction was “Oh, the prop shop was just skimping on the budget by repurposing some leftovers.”
But now I’m not so sure: Not only does that new Red Priestess in Meereen wear an identical necklace, but the six-sided shapes also repeat in the metal brooches along one side of her neckline, AND in the applique or embroidery design all the way down the front of her gown. Clearly, this shape symbolizes something in the religion of R’hllor – and in the show version at least, it seems reasonable to presume that Quaithe is affiliated with it.
I think the photo is obviously Jorah showing the greyscale to Danny.
Given the multiple Bran visions in this episode (Children of the forest, Winterfell, White Walkers, etc.) The expansion of Arya’s plot and the Kingsmoot, I think it’s probable that King’s Landing will be skipped in this episode.
It looks to me from the photos that Littlefinger maybe is worming his way back into Sansa’s good graces…
The problem is: what mechanism would there have been for LF or anyone else in the south to know about Ramsay? The Northerners did not know about him until the War got started.
Again, it goes back to what both the shows and books have emphasized: what happens in the North is not well known in the south, and what happens in the Dreadfort is not well known in the North. The odds of LF’s brothels having customers who spoke about Lord Bolton’s bastard are pretty low: and if nobody knowing about something visits one of LF”s brothels, then LF is not going to learn that something.
The idea that LF knowing about other things happening in the North right now contradicting that is like saying that because the West knew about Sputnik or Kyshtam, they should have known Soviet military secrets.

Surely, the logical commander for them is Howland Reed, which keeps to this on-going theme of re-uniting, restoration that’s part of this season’s arc.
Perhaps it is for Bran to tell Jon (& Sansa) when they re-unite. As we’ve heard, Bran isn’t going to stay below ground forever. Plus, Meera’s had the heads-up from Leaf.
That’s had me wondering if Leaf (& a few other CotF) will join the merry band when it moves away.

I am holding out hope that we will find out more about Quaithe after Sam gets to the Citadel, since her visits to Dany seem to be glass-candle-powered and, in the books at least, the only contemporary person who has figured out how to light the glass candles is Marwyn the Mage. No casting announcement so far, but I am dying to meet Marwyn onscreen! Maybe we will hear his name mentioned toward the end of S6 and actually see him early in S7.

I know it sounds a bit farfetched 🙂 But I really want to see her again in some form. I think Jorah’s arc could be linked to her if Daenerys tells him he can’t follow her with his condition. If Jorah survives the season and in his desperation to find ways to cure himself might try to find her. Otherwise the Citadel would make another option to see her again.

But, being as the books are not yet finished maaaybe GRRM does have them go against their own rules later for whatever reason. The way I see it the challenge to lose her identity, only good reason she would need to do that is to become emotionless so she will obey when tasked to kill someone she has feelings for. Well, I guess she could just get all that training and go through the muck just to wind up a hero that kills some of the bad guys but that would be boring (though I personally prefer it to her being tasked to kill Jon) Just from a narrative point of view it makes sense it would be building up to something like it. Question is will she attempt to go through with it and meets her demise as that Nissa moment for the current AA. How heartbreaking would it be if Jon stabs her in the heart wearing some one else’s face and then during her last breaths she remembers herself and her family and regrets wash over her. She then cries “remove this mask so I can say goodbye dear brother” and at first he doesn’t know what she means but Melisandre walks over and pulls it off saying I knew we’d meet again, I’m sorry it’s like this. Ugh. I hope they do not do this to Arya and Jon:( To be honest I don’t think they’re going to kill another Stark, except maybe the youngest Rickon because he’s not a main character.
It’s an ugly situation. The Walkers are the ultimate threat. Jon knows that. It’s the threat all of Westeros should be frantically preparing to meet (but is not).
Yet the logic for taking out Ramsay now is pretty compelling. There’s no 700 ft tall wall between Jon & Sansa & the Wildlings and Ramsay’s army, so he really is a more immediate threat.
More to the point, there’s no real chance to mobilize the North, let alone any of the rest of Westeros, against the White Walker threat, until Ramsay is removed from the picture. Ramsay doesn’t know about them, and likely can’t be brought to believe, let alone care about it. He’d never be a dependable ally against them. So long as he’s dominating the North, he’s not only a threat to the Starks and the Wildlings, he’s in the way of any effort to mobilize against the Walkers. And Jon almost certainly has already reached the same conclusions.
So: Bastard Bowl, here we come.

Well, my pet theory is that the big crisis kill that Arya’s arc is building up to will not be a FM assignment, but a chance encounter with LSH once she’s back in the Riverlands (stalking Walder Frey or, more likely, soon after killing him). She’ll realize that she needs to give the Gift of Mercy to this mindless vengeance machine that was once her mother. It won’t come easily to her, but it will be a necessary act of love that will spur her to give up becoming a mindless vengeance machine herself. I suspect that this scene is what all Arya’s exchanges with the Hound about “knowing where the heart is” were foreshadowing.
To me this scenario would fulfill GRRM’s prescription that the endgame will be “bittersweet,” and be much more satisfying than Arya killing Jon or another or her siblings.
Also, I don’t believe that the Nissa Nissa legend is going to be a factor at all in the TV version. Time will tell, though!
P.S, I can’t help noticing that I seem to be the only WotW regular who’s advocating for the Arya-kills-LSH theory, so maybe it’s just my personal fanfic. But if I keep going on about it and it ends up coming true, maybe someone will remember and buy me a beer!

I doubt that it will be a factor in the book version, either: it probably is a hint about what went in to making Valyrian steel. Moreover, it would seem far more probable that the big issue for the modern day Princes that were Promised is avoiding replicating the deeds and fate of the prior one.
The thing about that is that there are only three names in Arya’s kill list right now, and I don’t think that she’s going to get to kill Cersei Lannister either in the books or the show, so…hmmm.
Well, of course the Westerosi aren’t: White Walkers are either long extinct or a fairy tale, depending on who you ask. (Remember, the Walkers are part of the legends of the “First Men,” but not of the Andals.) Wildlings, on the other hand, are a clear and present danger: galvanizing the North against them will be much easier because all of the Northerners know what Wildlings can and will do if they are not stopped.
Now, Ramsay is not a good thing for this: but even without Ramsay, the Northerners would be responding to the Wildling invasion. The issue is: when Jon does not send Sansa back to Ramsay from Castle Black, what does Ramsay do to Castle Black?

The names get checked off if they die, regardless of if she kills the person or not, right? I’m not sure we’ll have the valonqar this season, but we will have it sometime in the next twenty episodes or thereabouts as that’s all that is left.

I love the Starks, all of of them (even Rickon!). I think for Arya, her training as No One would be handy in the coming war. She won’t be a lady of Winterfell but a badass warrior. She took after her aunt Lyanna after all, not just in physical appearance but also in terms of fearlessness. Add to that her emerging warging abilities. I could imagine her fighting with a pack of wolves led by Nymeria. Wouldn’t that be cool? 🙂

I don’t think that’s how it works.
It might not be the individual(s), but the institution that is important. At any rate, another Red Priestess could be very important here. It looks like Bran is going to learn a lot about the White Walkers here; we should also learn a lot about R’hllor soon.
The same as any other primary protagonist: the way in which she evolves from Thrones to Dreams will be both huge in the “key” moments at the zenith of the plot and the parallels between her evolution and that of Jon, Daeny, Tyrion, Bran and (maybe) Sansa will pretty much be the overall story.
One of the big parallels in the development of these characters is trying to advance without losing him/herself. Jon and Daeny have nearly died and been dethroned. Tyrion has been enslaved and wallowed through drunken depression. Bran probably provides the most obvious parallels: he’s trying to learn as much as he can about the past and present without losing himself in memories. So, whatever Arya comes out of this is almost certainly going to have some core part of her burning hotter and more cleanly than ever before. And whatever Arya’s contribution to the Walkers vs. R’hllor vs. Old Gods vs. World resolution is will be heavily affected by that.
I don’t see any reason to think that. It takes time for wounds to heal, after all. And, let’s face it: a lot of the wounds must have healed when Mel revived him because otherwise he would have just died again.
Yes, I think TOJ p2 will happen either in ep9 (Jon’s main episode) or ep 10. If what will happen in TOJ p2 is what most of us are expecting to happen, it’s too big a plot twist to place in the middle of the season. It’s worthy of a season-ender (or near-season-ender) reveal. I’ll bet it will be in ep 10 after Jon won the battle. The question is, will Jon know about it this season? Bran (and the audience) will know. Perhaps Sam will also find some proof in Oldtown. But, how about Jon?

I doubt that bastard bowl will happen near Winterfell, as Jon is too cautious to use wildlings to besiege the place. Wildlings are not familiar with siege warfare; many of them have never seen a castle (Ygritte). So Ramsay and his allies ride to Castle Black, and Jon and his allies try and head him off on the road.
So, all White Walkers are male and have icy weapons?
And all CotF are female and shoot fireballs?

No, that’s incorrect. The story of the Long Night is known everywhere; it’s part of every culture in the world, even way over in Essos.
The one thing that I like about this model is that Ramsay taking out Castle Black sets up a means for the Walkers to get through the Wall. It would continue the “no good deed goes unpunished” motif: Jon’s efforts to fend off the Walkers set up the circumstances that let them through the Wall.
I do not think that Jon and the Wildlings will move to fend off the Boltons initially. Instead, I expect that they will try to play hard-to-find. Wildlings might not know the land as well as they know it north of the Wall, but many have raided south of the Wall, and they are a hardy folk capable of surviving winter conditions. And that might buy time for Sansa to find allies among any Northerners that do not live in mortal fear of Wildlings (e.g., the Mormonts, Reeds and… um… er…. maybe Glovers?).

However, that is still Jon in there. Moreover, it really has to be: otherwise, Jon’s not part of the story anymore! Just as Beric sports healed scars, I suspect that Jon will start to do so: he just needs time to heal.
You are confusing the fact that the Andals have heard of the story and it being part of their culture. To them, it is just part of other peoples’ fairy tales: never do we read that they believe that their 7 gods had anything to do with ending the Long Night, or that there ever was a Long Night in their mythology. Indeed, we know that the Maesters say that the White Walkers never existed in the first place. (Show!Luwin allows that they might have existed, but now are gone: Book!Luwin simply says that they are myth.)

It doesn’t seem like we will get her in the show though. Everyone keeps putting down that idea, probably cause there would have been build up or spoilers by now. Meryn could also be counted as one of those three. Jaqen and the Waif? Technically they’re just faceless men wearing the faces of Jaqen and the Waif. Theater troupe people could be counted aswell.

In particular, in this interview Jonathan Pryce says that when Cersei’s trial happens, High Sparrow and everyone else is waiting in the Sept of Baelor for Cersei to show up. High sparrow is very certain for Cersei to show up and so is everyone else. No one expects that something very unpleasant is about to happen. It seems unlikely to me, because the Sept is guarded by Sparrows men, Cersei has no faithfull soldiers (Faith militant obey to High Sparrow, Tyrell obey to Olenna, Lannister to Kevan, City Watch to Tommen or High sparrow according to spoilers, and the little birds can not get in the Sept or fight any of the armies, and Gregor Clegane and Qyburn alone can not do this work by their selves alone) and the Sept is also build of Stone, that can not be burned by fire. Also many readers say that they read an interview of Jonathan Pryce, where he tells that he will be in season 7 and there will be more Sparrows (in another interview he said that he hopes High Sparrow to get what he deserves, but not necessarily in season 6). So can it be the unleash of the Mountain there and the death of many important characters of the show or a strange cleganebowl if the Hound has returned to the capital and is in the Sept waiting for Cersei’s trial? The question is : Why would they do that?!!!
In thier eyes Jon is traitor and must be dead ! , he left the Nights Watch , and is he really thinks someone will believe him that he dead and lived again so now he’s free from his oaths ?
And that besides the fact that he is a bastard, Sansa among all the people around that table must know that they won’t follow him and yet she’s the one who told him that!
That is a good question that I hope they answer on the show. Perhaps with Sansa by his side and with endorsement by the NW on the events of Hardhome/ his resurrection, a few houses will join them. Remember that they are outnumbered at the battle, so not all houses will rally to their cause.
I don’t think Sansa has any chance to not side with LF again. He virtually is the only hope for her. The Wildlings + some loyal but minor houses of the north could not stand a confrontation with Ramsey + Umber + Karstark (+minor houses).

No, that’s just a simple deduction. We know that Jon, Sansa, Arya and Bran are all in this episode, and all have multiple scenes, going off of stills, the promo, etc.
The fact that Beric’s blood makes his sword flame implies that his blood is not like that of living men. I can’t wait until Jon lights his sword, Lightbringer!
I´ve heard about this “Preston Jacobs” channel recently, in Youtube, so I decided to check it out… biggest fault of my life.

That statement makes me crazy, too. I love both characters – Sansa and Arya – and believe that both will impact the end game. (Beyond that, its just parsing words to determine what a “main” character does vs. a “slightly less than main” character.)
I’ve had long debates with family and friends on this topic. She is an assassin; one with an intense drive for vengeance. I believe that there is a “big kill” in her – one that has a huge impact on the course of events. However, I have no idea of who that is.
Arya is such a fan favorite that I think that as an audience we may eventually become conflicted by her actions and her ruthlessness. I’m thinking that her big kill will be someone that fans like/root for.

Shireen was born on Dragonstone, and so exposed to some residual greyscale germs as a vulnerable baby. Mayhaps Jorah will take greyscale to the WWs and kill them with greyscale.
Sansa is still a bit idealistic/clueless and doesn’t exactly know where the houses stand. She probably has no idea Robb beheaded Karstark, or how badly Smalljon hates Wildlings. She believes in lineage and thinks the Stark name is enough to get them places and while it might work for her, Jon isn’t a Stark. He has no reason to expect the houses will follow a bastard. It’s ironic that she’s asking him to fight in the name of the Starks, but he doesn’t even have that name. He’ll be the one risking his life on the battlefield while she watches from her horse. I love Sansa to death, but she was a bit unreasonable in those scenes. She will have to do a lot of convincing when they go seeking for help.

That guy and his ilk, who worship at the altar of crackpot tinfoil and are unable to separate the show from the books, are the living embodiment of the worst tendencies of the fandom. I don’t even believe that he loves ASOIAF. He loves his own fanciful interpretation of it, which is comprised entirely from whatever deluded extrapolations he can wring out of the most insubstantial fragments of text, and bound together by nothing more than the sound of his own voice. His biggest issue with the show is that it’s gradually revealing that all of the crackpot theories to which he has devoted himself are unimportant at best, and pure nonsense at worst. He can’t take it, so he lives in denial and slings vitriol. I have slightly more respect for the pure ideologues who have stopped watching the show entirely, even if I want nothing to do with them either. I have no use for what he does.
The only thing that will break him will be the books coming out and crushing his theories as well. Of course, he’ll probably just come up with new ones. If and when Martin completes the series, he’ll still be there, babbling about any shreds of tinfoil that the author didn’t explicitly debunk. No one ever said that Varys wasn’t a merman! I think that will be the whole point of her becoming no one storyline. Her big moment of reclaiming her Stark identity and returning to Westeros. I think the tragedy of her story is that she will choose revenge over reuniting with her family as she’s gone too far down the dark road to ever go back. She’ll get her revenge but won’t live long after. Actions and Consequences.

After hundres of hours of therapy and absolutely no improvement whatsoever, the therapist snaps and proposes that the man will be sent to the 5 most renowned clinics in the world to be sure once and for all that he’s not sick. He agrees and after a few months they review the results. Low and behold, he’s not sick! “And now what?” aks the therapist. The man says that it’s exactly what he feared, namely that he might already be dead. So the therapist asks if dead bodies bleed, the man answers no and then the therapist cuts the man in the arm. He starts bleeding and tells the therapist with a surprised face: “I guess I was wrong. Dead bodies DO bleed!”

No, it doesn’t. The Night’s Watch has no capacity to fight the White Walkers; the only thing stopping them is the Wall itself, so the garrison being killed would be irrelevant to that (some people claim the Wall needs to be manned, but it still would be even without Castle Black, as Eastwatch and the Shadow Tower are still separately garrisoned). If the White Walkers get through the Wall, it will be because they have a means to topple the Wall itself.

One thing that she does that I really like, is she has names for many of the characters and she sticks to them once she tags them. So if you read her often enough, you come to think of that character by that name. At least I do. Also she is a boomer, so she will reference shows or songs in her post for the week, it is fun to try and find them. It is the only other place for GoT’s that I respond to.

I disagree. The most notable aspect of this fandom is it’s diversity in opinion, theories, speculation, humor, tolerance, titillation, wit and canon comprehension. Personally, I gather more insight about the show and books from the most edgy criticism and off-kilter opinions available. “Worst tendencies” apply to both show swallowers and book wankers. I am lukewarm toward most of PJ’s thoughts but we can’t deny that his contributions make the community more robust.

I agree entirely with that assessment and I’d add that IMO one of the reasons why Jon will end up in Winterfell at the end of the season, is that when the Wall falls, noone will probably survive it.

I actually wonder if she was that far off. Jon is Ned’s son in all but name. Ned claimed him and raised him , giving him all the same advantages as Robb. Had things happened differently Jon would have been banner man for Ned (and Robb afterwards) with his own keep and lands and would have been quite powerful (especially under Robb) in the North. Its not a huuuge stretch to think they would rally to Jon to save his brother, the true Lord of Winterfell (ages are hazy in GoT but it seems they have made Rickon old enough that he wouldnt need regent or protector)
Jon’s “death” wont be known, and they made it very clear in last episode that NW still considers Jon LC so “desertion” wont be an issue either. There will be some explanation needed for him being involved in Northern politics , but when a man shows up with 2000 men behind him he is going to at least get the chance to speak before they try to throw his head on the block

Wow, you’re right, sorry. I hope that they have some explanation for this, as it doesn’t make a lot of sense for Jon to besiege Winterfell, in the winter, with 2,000 wildlings.
One explanation would be a trap: Send just the wildlings against the place, hope Ramsay comes out the way he did for Stannis, then flank with Vale troops.

I didn’t mean to tar everyone who likes to theorize about the books and the show with the same disparaging brush. Of course, such discussions are a vital part of any healthy fandom. As always, the key to keeping such discussions healthy is to maintain a sense of perspective and indulge in moderation. Or, if you’re going to deep-dive, be aware that you’re doing so, and come up for air occasionally. 😉
Tinfoil isn’t really my thing, so my personal interest in some of the more out-there theories is pretty low. As such, I don’t usually partake in such discussions, but I certainly don’t begrudge their existence. A lot of what goes on in the ASOIAF/GOT Reddit threads is a good example of this – it can get a little too intense for my taste, but most people there are generally rational and obviously passionate. They’re usually able to accept new information when it comes, or at least laugh at their own stubbornness (CLEGANEBOWL GET … well, you know).
For me, the breaking point comes when the canon work – be it the books or the show – doesn’t meet certain theorists’ expectations, at which point they express their disappointment by accusing the work and the people who make it of betraying some idealized core vision they had subscribed to. It’s even worse when they channel their anger into vitriolic rants against the actors/writers/producers who make the ‘offending’ work, and people who enjoy it. That’s where the discussion ceases to be fun and becomes poisonous. I am anti-vitriol at all times, in all situations.
For me, PJ and several others in his vein crossed that line a long, long time ago. I find his opinions neither insightful nor informative, and so I have ceased to engage with them. I will never read or listen to anything he has to say about GOT or ASOIAF ever again. But that doesn’t mean that I won’t listen to others who are able to toss around similar theories with more grace in the interest of a friendly and healthy discourse. I shouldn’t have spoken so generally. 🙂

I appreciate the response! I may not agree with many of PJ’s ideas (Quentyn alive, really?) but, like AltShiftX and many others (who do a great job consolidating many relevant, disparate thoughts from the community), he does inspire fervent follow-up discussion! However, for some reason, PJ rarely engages in follow-up discussion regarding his theories (unless he is using another alias at westeros.org) and sort of hides within his one-way vacuum tunnel. At least he thanks a few folks (mainly artists) at the end of his diatribes. I wonder if PJ (and others of his “ilk” and unrelenting perspective) realize that they are the “fundamentalists” of this fandom?
I also must point out that you have really come into your own over the past year. I enjoy your input here and how you nurture your thoughts and add rational depth to the discussions. Carry on, ser! 🙂
I am so glad someone knows what I am talking about, LOL. That was the first fantasy novel I ever read (kind of disturbing for a kid, now that I think of it), and I think I squeeeed when I discovered a colleague named her cat ‘Pounce’ after that book!

That horn being the Horn of Joramun is one of those fan theories that some people are super duper attached to. But yeah, it’s irrelevant in the show, the show hasn’t shown Sam’s horn since or mentioned the Horn of Joramun at all.
We know that the Mad King had caches of wildfire stored underground all over the city, and was ready to blow up all of King’s Landing when Jaime stabbed him. The pyromancers were loyal to Cersei before Tyrion took over the preparations for the Battle of the Blackwater; now he’s out of the picture. There’s no reason to think that the pyromancers haven’t been restocking the wildfire that was used up in the battle – plus, Tyrion thought that they had lots more stashed away than they were showing him. So if there are crypts and tunnels full of wildfire under the Sept of Baelor, and Cersei (perhaps working through Qyburn) can get them ignited while most of the Sparrows are assembled upstairs, it won’t matter that the stone walls won’t burn. Hundreds will be killed in the explosion. Cue the Mad Queen!
No he doesnt. Forget his absurd criticisms of the show. His “theories” are all so much tinfoil that it doesnt even make sense. It’s nonsense. He’s even a vehement R+L=J denier and ridicules everyone who believes in it. So much for diversity of opinions. I’ll love to his channel crushed when Winds of Winter debunks everything he said, but i’m sure he’ll come up with new ones. I dont know why people cite him as some great Youtuber, he’s a real life juju believer, the kind of trash that believe the earth is flat or in homeopathy or something. He and his zombie “D&D sucks” followers are the worst of the worst and the fandom would be much better off without them.
If the white walkers are assembling a massive army of the undead, you can bet your ass they have a plan to get through the Wall. I dont get it when people say Bastardbowl or Euron will be directly or indirectly involved.
Why am I suddenly shipping Sansa x Jon? I feel like after reading GRRM’s original endgame from years ago, though swapping out Arya.
I doubt they’ll end up together, but I have no idea why I’m shipping them now.

So Jon should soon be waking some stone dragons, turning their stone to flesh! Does that mean he could save Jorah? Could he make an army from the Stone Men? Would they first fight as impenetrable stone and then be turned back to flesh at the end of the war?

I feel the “wake dragons out of stone” is just meant to symbolize the petrified Dragon Eggs, no way the prophecy is as literal as waking stone dragons despite what Melisandre may think.

I can’t remember the canon on how wildfire compares to dragon fire though. Just that wildfire was the sword used by the Targaryeans after the death of the dragons to keep the kingdoms in line
Whoa, buddy. Ease up a bit on the hyperbole there. No need to get nasty with terms like ‘trash’ and ‘worst of the worst.’ And calling disbelief in the R + L = J theory a blow to diversity of opinion makes no sense whatsoever.
There is room in this fandom for many, many points of view (geez, I’ve typed that so many times on WotW that I ought to make a macro of it). I’m with Hodor’s Bastard on this one: The more speculation we have, the better, even if it does give rise to plenty of absurd tinfoil. Besides helping us pass the time entertainingly, mulling over someone’s apparently wild notion to find what bits of it might make some sense is a mind-expanding act. Knee-jerk scorn of what at first glance seems ridiculous just shuts down dialogue and makes people feel intellectually disrespected.
We all have theories that make sense to us and theories that don’t. I personally think that Varys = Merman is very silly, but if somebody wants to make a video listing all the reasons that in their view form a pattern arguing for its probability, more power to ’em!

I always thought Sansa always wanted to be a part of war strategizing but nobody want her around becus she’s a lady. During battle of blackwater she tried to ask Joffery about his battle plan but lashed out at her becus he doesn’t know anything. So now she has a chance to be a part of it with Jon she look excited & eager in the picture. Lol.
