Watchers on the Wall Forum

Hello, Watchers! We have some exciting news for you all. Today, we’re finally reopening our forums here on the Wall.

Our message board’s hiatusย was somewhat lengthier than planned. But we decided that heading into a new season of Game of Thrones, it was a golden opportunity to shake things up, and redo the entire design of the place. So that’s what we’ve done.

With the entirely new system, commenters can now properly register and sign in, so go ahead and claim your screennames and set up your avatars!

Like before, we have a variety of areas to post in: Game of Thrones and A Song of Ice and Fire categories, and more. The spoiler-free Unsullied people will have their own space, and the spoiler-obsessed folk have their own, and there’s a middle ground. We’re even going to incorporate our Westworld forums into the joint, because- well, why not! There’s plenty of spaces to explore and play in, so have at it. We may continue to tweak the new forums over the coming weeks as we figure out what we all like, so don’t be surprised if you see a few more small changes!

As far as moderation: the same rules apply in our new forums as over here in comments – be kind to one another, no personal attacks, and all that jazz. Please visit our FAQย and review the rules before joining and ask questions if there’s any confusion. Thanks!

Now, go forth and comment!ย

  1. Clob is too short a name to register so I used my full version, CLOBIMON. Long story ๐Ÿ˜›

  2. Ok tried to register with my login name and password that I use here, and its telling me its wrong

Also a question – when should we comment here, versus the forum? Would it be redundant and confusing to do both?

  3. Mr Derp:
Ten Bears should be excited.Heโ€™s been asking about this for a while now.

    Yes he is!

The hour is late. The tinfoil awaits…

  4. Dee Stark,

I didn’t often use the forums before because I’m old and blind and the forums had a teensy font. Yes, I could ctrl+++, but then all of my other windows would be huge and I was constantly adjusting one or the other. The new ones look perfect, and the features of logging in should help keep them from getting too crazy, I hope.

  5. ash,

You have to start over in the forums, you can’t just log in with this info. Click on Register, and create your user name. I can tell you that Ash will be too short, it has to be at least 5 characters long. The Register screen will walk you through it all.

  6. Great! Now we can have structured discussions again and let’s hope the spam is kept “beyond the wall” ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. As for this:

Also a question โ€“ when should we comment here, versus the forum? Would it be redundant and confusing to do both?

On each article, you’re really supposed to just be discussing the article itself in comments (but people go off-topic a lot of and we don’t moderate heavily). If you want to start up a conversation about something totally unrelated, that’s what the forum is for, ideally.

  8. I signed up!! I’ve always felt like forum would be a nice way to build the community – not sure why it never took off before… I like the 3 levels of “spoilerage” for posts.

  9. Hodor.
This is so fantastic!! It made my day.
Thanks for all your hard work! Going to try again to register, then login ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. I used my att.net email and I’m not getting the activation email. For some reason, I don’t get emails to that some times (it has to do with being connected to yahoo, I don’t know why). I thought about that after I signed up with it.

Is there anything I can do to get the activation email another way?

  11. I tried to register at the forum, but I used my att.net account and I haven’t received an activation email. And it’s been over an hour. Can I get an activation email any other way?

  12. Well, I just used a different username and a different email. But I would still prefer to use my earlier name.

  13. ash,

sorry no idea why that came out in bold! Anyway, I have strained my eyes trying to read the confirmation code, and I get it wrong every time, even with three characters!!! Is there a trick to this?

  14. JenniferH,

I activated your (first) account manually. Try to log into it now. Not sure what’s up- no chance it got lost in your Spam folder?

    Yay! That worked.

It has to do with having the att.net account. Sometimes it won’t be recognized for certain systems. It’s really annoying and I try and remember to use my gmail.account unless I know the att.net will be accepted. I just have used the att for so long, it’s my immediate first type in.

Thank you. I’m arabian there! ๐Ÿ˜€

  16. Ok Im in – btw since it wouldn’t accept any variations on my name, I am ‘a girl is no one’ on the forum. Kinda like it, might change it here too….. ๐Ÿ™‚

  17. Am I the only one whose only language choice was “British English”? Will I have to refer to a sweater as a “jumper,” tennis shoes as “trainers,” and write with perfect grammar?
