Harry Lloyd launches “Supreme Tweeter” web series

Yesterday, our dear departed Viserys Targaryen launched a short, three-part web series entitled “Supreme Tweeter: A Quirky Tale about an Actor’s Quest for #Celebrity”.

Actor Harry Lloyd hasn’t been in the spotlight since he was killed off in Season 1 of the hit series Game of Thrones. In order to regain his crown he turns to social media, where he finds himself followed by the most Supreme Tweeter.

A quirky 3-part web series, with VERY special guests including George R.R. Martin, Maisie Williams and Tamsin Greig.

Parts 2 and 3 below the cut!

Written and directed by Lloyd himself, and guest starring Maisie Williams and George R. R. Martin as themselves, the series takes an intelligent and surprisingly meta look into the culture of celebrity in relation to social media – specifically Twitter.

It also puts Harry’s very first tweet, along with subsequent tweets between him and Maisie, in a completely different light…

Game of Thrones, Kim Jong-un and Seth Rogen references, and Harry Lloyd flying around London on a bicycle – what more could you want?

Cian: I personally loved this. It’s equal parts witty, funny, and thought-provoking… especially considering I’m writing this little piece promoting a web series I enjoyed about an actor who has admittedly retreated into the background since his Thrones exit, which itself is about an actor who has retreated into the background since his Thrones exit . Wow. Here’s to Harry Lloyd!

  1. I don’t think that being amazing in one of the best movies of last year, The Theory of Everything, counts as retreating into the background.
I can’t watch these right now, but I will as soon as possible. I love me some Harry Lloyd!

  2. SerRoy,

Agree – he seems to be busy these days. He was excellent in “A Theory of Everything.” He is also in the series “Manhattan” (which I haven’t seen yet but gets good press) and “Wolf Hall” with Damian Lewis and Mark Rylance which should be amazing.

He was on Twitter as @HarryLloydSays for a period of time before moving over to his current Twitter account.

I love him. He is doing a Reddit AMA this afternoon.

  3. Luka Nieto,

Wow it does seem a real one indeed. I get really confused because my head is on show canon for Sansa and this is so different from any show plans.

There where typos though unless my phone was playing tricks on me.

  4. Luka Nieto,

THIS is a good day! I had a feeling that a Sansa/Alayne chapter was to be issued before S5 began! This is like last year with Mercy/Arya. However, the new chapter doesn’t really say much….seems to be semi-aligned with the first ep of S5.

  5. Hodor’s Bastard,

It says quite a bit, in a way…

Last year, GRRM did something similar with an Arya chapter (”Mercy”), presumably because the show was about to spoil an element from it. Obviously Arya’s story wasn’t that far ahead, but in the fourth season Arya kills Polliver exactly like she would later kill Raff the Sweatling in TWOW —by repeating what he had said to Lommy before killing him. However, since there is no Raff in the show and Polliver took his role, they brought that monologue forward for the show, and GRRM did not want it to be spoilt so he published the Mercy chapter. What does this mean? Considering Sansa’s story in the show has reached the end of the published material, probably there is something in this chapter that is going to be used for her arc this coming season. Obviously, they are going a different way in terms of the plot —Sansa is going to Winterfell during the Bolton occupation, after all. However, just as in the case of Mercy, I’d say that at least an element of this chapter will feature in season five. More than the tourney parallel with 5×01, I’d say.

Also, the question of Sansa’s marriageability is brought up. Petyr did not mention this thorny issue when he revealed his plans, but readers have been asking for a while —how can Sansa marry Harry, the next Lord of the Vale if (when) Robert dies, if she’s still married to Tyrion?

It’s great to see that Sansa is considerably more grown-up now than last we saw her, too, and she’s plotting her own schemes —this whole tourney, an excuse to bring in Harry the Heir, was her idea.

And I’m only halfway through the excerpt. There’s good stuff here. I really like Sansa in this chapter.

  6. I wonder if the tourney we’re supposed to have in the Vale in 501 will just be Robin practicing or if the idea of Winged Knights will make it to the show…

  7. Robert B,

Good one! Might be a common comment about this chapter.

So Harry the Heir, nice to meet you! Recognize me? Oh and one other thing…”down in the vaults…”
  8. Robert B,

Uther Shett is an amazing name. Nimble Dick reborn. GRRM and his subtlety.

Sansa is truly amazing in this chapter. I laughed out loud at this:

And there he stood, Harry the Heir himself; tall, handsome, scowling. “Lady Alayne. May I partner you in this dance?”

She considered for a moment. “No. I don’t think so.”

Color rose to his cheeks. “I was unforgivably rude to you in the yard. You must forgive me.”

“Must?” She tossed her hair, took a sip of wine, made him wait. “How can you forgive someone who is unforgivably rude? Will you explain that to me, ser?”

  9. Hodor’s Bastard,

There’s other great Sansa moments too:

“Saffron?” Alayne tried not to laugh. “Truly?” Ser Harrold had the grace to blush. “Her father says she is more precious to him than gold. He’s rich, the richest man in Gulltown. A fortune in spices.”
“What will you name the babe?” she asked. “Cinnamon if she’s a girl? Cloves if he’s a boy?”

For a moment he looked shocked. But as the song was ending, he burst into a laugh. “No one told me you were clever.”
He has good teeth, she thought, straight and white. And when he smiles, he has the nicest dimples. She ran one finger down his cheek. “Should we ever wed, you’ll have to send Saffron back to her father. I’ll be all the spice you’ll want.”
He grinned. “I will hold you to that promise, my lady. Until that day, may I wear your favor in the tourney?”
“You may not. It is promised to… another.” She was not sure who as yet, but she knew she would find someone.
I didn’t expect the chapter to be so fun. Sansa is amazing in this. A jump from AFFC, honestly. She’s grown in these real ten years, or the… weeks, months at most, inside the fiction? I don’t care. Just as her moments in 4×08, it’s a welcome leap in characterization.

  10. Luka Nieto,

    Just finished my second read.

Totally agree…Harry may prove to be quite the asset for her….she even seems to be handling LF with charm and wit. The game is afoot in the Vale!
  11. Holyyyyy! That was incredible, of course it will be revised but I’ve been waiting sooo long for an Alayne chapter it didn’t disappoint.

Alayne and her sassy quips, just think how that would translate on TV? Would be sooo good. I am kind of miffed there will be no Harry on GoT, reading the chapter made me want him in it just for the snappy exchanges between both.

Still digesting it tbh, it may not have huge amount of plot developments but it shows her growth. That’s eqyally importang imo.

  12. That chapter was so lighthearted and fun.
And Sansa has become so sassy and clever, lol
  13. I think compared to the last

sansa chapter this said a lot more. Sansa had progressed as a character considerably in this IMO.

By the way I bet this was the “the controversial” sansa chapter. Controversial for certain shippers 😉

  14. YAY! What a nice surprise! Although, the state of the text seems to confirm that he is truely nowhere near done, unless, of course, he just grabbed an approved-but-not-integrated version of the text to quickly post, but I digress…

Sansa showing lots of moxie and wit, coming up with ideas like a pro. Makes me think that show!Sansa will not be the bride in the Winterfell storyline, but just a witness. Her future seems to be to control the Vale and perhaps the Riverlands as Littlefinger’s plans continue to expand. Can’t wait to see how she eventually dispenses with Littlefinger! Go, Little Bird, go!

Thanks for making my day, Luka!
    Edit: Sorry Sue! Moving…

  15. SerRoy,

He has been working pretty steadily. I think it’s clear he’s not really playing himself entirely- he’s playing a jokey version of himself. Like NPH in “Harold and Kumar” or James van der Beek in “Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23.”

  16. Ok ,

So the show is deff trying to wed Sansa as allayne to marry Ramsey at winter fell ? If that’s true . This season would just be like added fluff to fill her tv time and than possibly by end of this season she’s on her way back to the vale? Or will they have her run to john and stannis with Theon ? Little fingers supposed to be the smartest man in the world to me , this is an idiot plan unless she has vale knights watching her 100 percent of the time for her protection ? I can’t imagine how there planning on tying this together , but at the end of this season could she be just there to give her something to do and keep the audience shocked than go back after you apply this story to Sansa and go back to her story , it’s unlikely . That kinda makes me think Harry the heir won’t live till the end of twow or in no way marry Sansa. The show would have to include it or some parts of it, and you certainly can’t murge Harry and Ramsey’s storyline together . it almost seems like the show likes there plans for Sansa better than George’s for this season , that would make Sansas storyline filler to catch the story, than have her go back to the vale with little finger . If he wasn’t riding jet packs I’d have more of an educated geuss. I can’t figure out what there doing with this story line , unless Harry dies and becomes more insignificant somewhere down the line , and that seems impossible , I would think this is where Sansa will end up after Harry’s in twow
  17. For those of you that haven’t seen “Manhattan” (with HL), do yourselves a favor and watch – it is excellent. Think it should be coming back to WGN soon and hopefully, Netflix.

  18. So, we’re not issueing a post on Maisie cameo’ing in Dr.Who, based on “we’re a GoT-site, and we’re not posting articles on actors doing side jobs”, yet here is that exact thing, now with an ex-GoT-actor and a cameo of Maisie and Grrm, and it gets a post? Filler..

It was funny though.. But it shouldn’t have been posted here based on previous claims.

  19. Ser Oromis Locke,

Maisie’s casting in a completely unrelated show is wholly irrelevant to this site.

The whole “plot” behind this endeavour of Lloyd’s is that he’s washed up after his departure from GoT.

It’s a side-project directly related to GoT in its essence, which stars a former cast member of GoT who directly references his GoT role, and also happens to include cameos from Maisie and GRRM. I’ll put it this way; I was already drafting this up before I even realised Maisie and GRRM were in it.

This is related to GoT, so it gets a post. Doctor Who isn’t, so it doesn’t.
